Yo are you planning on making more videos on jujutsu kaisen? Also love all your content and how you probably give some of the most objective criticism I've seen for some of these mainstream series.
Dude better delete this video Before you get Clowed on Just a warning I have critisisms about jjk The characters in JJK are just Naruto rip off with the bleach storyline embedded in it Naruto is a rip off of The GOAT Hunter X Hunter So basically JJK is generic recycled idea from all other shounens Chainsawman on the other hand does things differently Just changes the tropes of anime that you are soo used to and seen like a million times Denji is a breadth of fresh air Let me explain All other shounen Protagonists are goody two shoes, they are just a copy of all other good characters Denji is the only wierd one that makes him interesting
Both use Philosophies like Absurdismus, Nihalismus, Antinatalism, Freedome of Choice Themes of Control and Meaning of Life. CSM also uses a lot of biblical myth and twisted religious refrences. AOT is more like a deep Book something like Faust while CSM is like a Movie Adaptation of The Myth Of Sisyphus mixed with the House Jack Build and The Raid directed by Michael Bay. AOT's Philosophie is more Essential to the Plot while Chainsaw Mans is also very on the Nose but more a Bonus to make everything more understandable if you want to Explore it. But yes CSM is Deep if you want it to and know the things it refrences
"mOsT cOmPleX ChAraCter". Has pure motivation of getting laid and has brain of a caveman all throughout the series which did not develop. Wtf. It is either you're dmbfck, doesn't know what "COMPLEX" mean or has a brain damage.

Despite being a chainsaw man fan, I do agree with most of your character arguments. This whole makima issue with fans lusting over a drawing is 100% sad and weird. I also agree that Denji is a loser. In spite of the fact that you could argue that my argument is invalid because I like chainsaw man, I don't really enjoy Denji's weirdness but rather I find him interesting, I think we would agree and kindly disagree on certain points? Apart from that, I enjoyed watching this video!
This anime is as silly as chainsaw man. Both are very weak stories. Also, the first season of CSM was a copy of JJK. Both the characters and the world. The usual characters we all saw. And a world that fights with demons. with overpower characters
The makima issue, i dont think the author ever intended for Makima to be lusted over to such a extent. The entire point of her character was to be a intimidating seductive viper that ended up biting at the end. She was meant to be seen as beautiful/pretty as love could lead to her being able to control them more easily, and at the end i think he intended for her to be hated, but manga readers still lust over her like shes not a pedophile and groomer. And for Denji, i think Denji being a absolute loser was, THE ENTIRE POINT but to be fair fujimoto could’ve developed him more. He is stale as a MC but i like him for the same reason you do. Honestly im a massive chainsaw man fan but i will fully fully admit, it is not the best manga ever, and it probably never will be. Im hoping Part 2 will surpass part 1 because Asa seems like a promising MC. TL;DR: Makima is bad but nobody understood that, denjis lame but hes interesting like u said, manga isnt a perfect 10/10 like ppl might say. Also im fully aware original comment was a year ago
Wait, what "reveal of Makina as a villian"? At what point isnt she presented as a villian? She literally uses and exploits everybody for her benefit since she appears in scene! In what part of the manga is she shown as "good'? 😂
@@TriggeredSenpai you mean factually wrong? Cause theres more misses than hits in this vid, in a "did you even understood what you were reading?" For example getting "mad" at Denji VS Aki cause Denji "oneshoots" Aki. Did you understood that fight is supposed to be a tragedy... nO? You get mad at Denji being waken up by the civilians, which is both missing the textual literal of Makina pulling the strings once more (she has a batallion of corpses at that point, lol!) and the metatextual of the civilians being the audience, the audience that wants the shonen protagonist and the shonen rival to have a cool fight to the dead despite being almost brothers. And you follow It with a double down of "dang, Denji has some clever moments, why he keeps simping from Makian?!" as if you forgot from one chapter to the next that Denji just had been forced to kill his brother and his emotionally destroyed. That's not just a failure at art critique, but at understanding basic human emotions. Pal, this video is just lame lazyness, Cinema Sins lvls of cringe bs. XD
that's the thing. the worst part about the manga is that the characters aren't even characters. Denji is literally just a POV of the modern cuck man who doesn't have real goals nor does things out of his own accord
Towards the end denji doesn't think about those anymore. It's just he's making up his own goal to stay motivated. Sht if he even got those things he will eventually go for another thing. In the early parts tho I agree at some point it is annoying.
It amazes me how people justify Denji as a character a thousand times, but don't talk about Makima at all. This really suggests that the antagonists are even worse than the heroes of this work
Right, I read the manga before the show came out and was fucking shocked when I saw the anime getting a 8+ on MAL. It's just soo bad chapter the later chapters are like a fever dream.
@@aksjhdbaksjhdbNotASpamexactly and it’s part 2 feels like a completely new manga amni the only one who was confused when they transitioned into the next arc it was stupid to me 😂
I actually really love danji character as much as I love the other characters but I respect your opinion also yes the Makima fans are really bad you should have seen the mappa livestream when the first trailer for chainsaw man anime was shown everyone in the chat where just screaming bark bark bark meanwhile I was just trying to ignore it while watching the livestream
I watched 1 and a half episodes and the pathetic sexual aspects and parallels with certain kinks just threw me out of this garbage. The gore, fight scenes and whatever is not nearly enough to make up for this constant side motivation constantly being thrown in.... it's the "woof" when being fed Ramen that noped me right the hell out.
You are the most normal anime/manga reader calling bullshit on overhyped fandom. Like seriously, fandom needs to chill. Overhyping a medium will only make the mediums free fall to the ground impact harder.
I honestly just had issue with pacing. Everything was way too quick, no side stories, which hinted something or created mystery. The series didn’t give enough time for the reader to become curious on stuff. The only mysteries for me were the gun devil, makima and pochita. The first two handled badly I think. Also soo much stuff was off screen. I wanted to see Aki and what happened to him. A panel a few panels, a chapter, some hints, anything. Just felt like I skipped a chapter tbh. And that sums up very well many instances of the series. Feels like some key parts which contributed to making the plot and characters important and deep/detailed were missing. On another note, I think we didn’t see enough villains or main villains. Some sort of hierarchy of dangers in the sense of a building up towards a situation which we are all waiting for, where the main characters fight against this menace to them and everyone.
I really wanted more moments when I was like, damn this is bad for the characters I like. Moments which gave them an opportunity to rise to the occasion and demonstrate their skill/power or finesse of any kind. I wanted more struggle which in some way allowed the cast to unite and work together and grow. Something which makes makima’s ultimate betrayal feel disgusting and unforeseen/unwarranted. The two “arcs” when the cast was faced with difficulty were the international assassin/hell chapters and the previous assault on the special operations teams from the guys with the guns and the katana dude. That’s not enough!! That’s all of the conflict/struggle which the majority of the cast had to go through. I just generally feel that the characters weren’t given enough time to shine/develop under our eyes. The plot similarly was damaged by pacing and depth, thus the story/first part ending suffere. This all making makima’s betrayal feel like “well that could’ve happened, she always looked weird and acted weird, never really putting here body in harms way for the team.” Also the deaths whilst feeling sad weren’t like wow this really happened, I can’t believe this. The enemy was always either makima or the gun devil, the gun devil was a tool and that left us with only makima as the main villain of the story wayyy too soon. Those are my thoughts. This said if this is simply the start to a much longer story (Naruto type) which lasts another 300/400 chapters with a big overarching plot and major villains- new characters and plot connections to this first part, the product is great and I can let those issues slide. I don’t believe this is the direction of the manga though and if this is the case and the story simply ends in chapter 250/300 with another story or plot such as this one, this will be one of the worst cases of missed potential. As of now, if the story stopped, I would give the series a 6.5/10 if it picks up and inserts itself in a great and huge plot, well done you played me. Hope this is the case as, right now this is a disappointment.
Only real mystery was the door for me other thing sucked and makima is overrated asf if she was in a other shonen or seinen no one would talk about her
no, it did give time. its pacing represents what is a arc need to done. it shows everything it need to do and move forward. and it does handled all three of mysteries beautifully. i know it sound fanboyish. but i don't understand how strecthing it more make it good.
Also it doesn't need to focus on a main antagonist. that's the direction of fujimoto. it is like a action movie (it doesn't mean fighting, it could just mean a well crafted movie whith high octane sequences in right amount with great dialogue like say quentin tarantino's movies making every scene of movie 'hype'). a movie doesn't have side plot and explanation other character whole life and point of view. it just show their personality through small sequences and make them ikable from that alone. it doesn't need a backstory to explain it. Just look at quanxi, reze and katana man. every dialogue show their demeanor and their point of view of percieve world. Small sequences show how they feel toward world or someone fantastically. it doesn't need exposition. i am not saying other series are bad for doing it. it just not the style of chainsaw man, if you don't like it fine but i don't think it should be changed for no reason.
Yeah Denji isnt that deep, neither is Naurto, Tangerine or that other harem dude. And they dont deserve microscopic breakdowns either, there's nothing there. you right about that.
I thought it was just okay, but undoubtedly it will be the biggest anime this season. It is a little slow at the beginning and while it does get better later on, I ended liking the last third way more than anything before that. There was one character I liked who ended up dying, which was disappointing 😕
@@Jaafar_Alkhalifa In my opinion, it’s just an okay manga. Most of the characters seemed flat. I feel like if the story took twice as long to build up the characters, their motivations, relationships, etc it could have been phenomenal.
The point about how Denji sneaking up on makima makes no sense is right on the money! Even if Makima couldn’t detect people by their smell, and she knew how Denji smelled, there is no way she didn’t hear a chainsaw come at her.
He only started up the chainsaw when hes really close to makima, right when she was messing with pochita and was completely unprepared for combat, ig chainsaws mafe with blood somehow rears up faster? But who cares since its manga logic
She probably was confused as she already killed him. Makima never knew the smell of denji too, she only knew pochita's, the chainsaw devil. The panel showed that makima heard the sound and immediately looked behind her but she was already caught off guard. Try reading it once again.
And why didn't she try to block it or sth? Cause when did makima ever block an attack? She thought the damage will be passed on to other people as per contract.
I've seen a couple of times how sex and horny can be utilized in a compelling way when used in a story and chainsaw man with Denji's character isn't one of them. Considering it's one of his main selling points it's a big hit on his character since the way I saw it was just a shallow way of applying that theme and only seemed cheap at best.
@@BLIZZ2012 I just don't really buy Denji's character as much as other people do. I do understand and/or somewhat appreciate his complexities of representing a teenager who's trying to find a place in the world which is elevated by his circumstances at the beginning of the manga. But regardless of understanding that, it just fell flat. Usually for me when it comes to compelling use of sex in stories I would prefer having to carry a certain weight behind it, like having heavy consequences or dramatic development and Denji's sexual accomplishments just did not do anything of that sort for me. It felt like that aspect of him was just thrown in there just to appeal to edgy horny teens that also relate to his character of having that carefree life and simplest of goals and being lazy. I just hated how my brain told me throughout the whole read that a bunch of pretentious 14 year olds are hailing this manga as some sort of bible or "That's so me" moment and completely degraded my experience of reading it.
If denji being horny simp is considered a great character than zenitsu from chainsaw man is peak of the peak then I really don't understand with weebs mindset
@@BLIZZ2012 exactly what this guy! I appreciate you CSM who don't get angry at us straight from the get go! I think Mushoku Tensei used sex a lot better for character driven plot. Each time sex was used (not including the Paul and Zenith) they were times to show the depravity of the world or used as pivotal moments to express tones of the characters and their emotions. It's also a huge leap of progression from Rudeus taking advantage of sex from then not wanting to do it bc he has become aware of its significance
Idk if it's because I'm not an experienced manga reader but reading the fight scenes were awful to me. I could barely understand what was going on. Also I think it was a little too fast paced.

@@suprith5443 I just read it recently, it felt like there was a lot of red herrings that were unexplained and the pacing led to some strange character decisions. The main problem for me were the constant deaths tho, most characters lasted 2 arc (which were quick) which got repetitive quick imo. I stopped caring when characters died.
Well, the author is known for his fast paced manga. You clearly haven't read fire punch another manga of his. True it's lacking fluidity in fights but that's why I'm so intrigued to see it being animated.
God I feel crazy for not liking CSM. When I read it, I had fun when I passed the time reading it. But as a whole, I hated a lot of the characters, the characters I did liked died. And the overall story isn't good, not bad. It's not terrible but I can't excuse it to be a "not bad" tag, more of a "not good" story. And a lot of the manga is just blink and you'll miss it. As a whole I love CSM for allowing me to pass time on the day I read on that afternoon. But actually talking about it, it's not good. And I hate how people hyped it as a Big Three contender

The pervyness and comedy did not mesh well with the tone of the show. It gets all dark and intense and tries to play it off with some bad jokes. Also, the main character is annoying AF, seriously unlikable. Aki is the only good character but is also too much of a trope.
This is literally it, because so far the story has not presented anything original, and it just seems like a fanservice for a bunch of teenager virgins. Like seriously we get that Denji was poor, so was hundreds of other characters in anime, Naruto, Luffy, Goku, Saitama neither of them had such bland and crass aspirations. I don’t mind a little fanservice here and there like jujutsu kaisen or naruto does but a barfing kiss, sex with a minor, Denji calling himself a dog like wtf is this shit Fujimoto is into some weird stuff. Apart from that the story seems to be going nowhere at a horrendous pace. This anime is just so dumb and unrefined tbh what is the moral of the story? That demons are evil and agents die? What the overarching theme? None that I could see. There’s so much better stuff to watch
I love chainsawman, but I like the things you bring up. I think its important to be able to recognize flaws in a show but also to realize that you can love a series even if it has some flaws in it. I also think its bloody hilarious how the fans are reacting lol it reminds me of boruto fandom when they get upset. Great video
Tbh the entire manga was just chaos. I feel like I was waiting for there to be some downtime in between fights, but a lot of the time it’s just fights deaths fights deaths fights deaths and more deaths. And then the resurrect thing too, was kinda confusing. Whenever denji got cut up or hurt badly It reminded me of JJKs yuji. It was interesting from start to finish but I don’t know if it’s good or bad.
You don't have to grade it good or bad or awesome or compare it to berserk and vagabond. If you enjoy it that's it. Fujimoto the author is well known for his fast paced manga, and for me who doesn't read manga that much, this pacing is the best as I'm very bored with slow stories. It's just me tho on that part.

THANK YOUUU!!! I thought I was the only one that can see through CSM trash story and shallow world. The writing was the worst part for me. It was filled with cliches lines and dramatic phrases. Maybe if I read this when I was 15, it would hit different, but now I've seen too many stories with the same premise of super monsters of some kind being killed by teenagers or heroes. Out of all of them, CSM is the worst one.
I agree with u but the whole manga is not trash, it had good art and pretty neat storyline. For me the flaws were enemies kept coming back even after dying to chainsawman and for some reason every enemy becomes friend towards the end like that bombhead girl. Idk and i don't understand if some kind of power was mentioned or something was mentioned about this shitty stuff. Other than that the manga was pretty good
If i can sums up the overall in this series in one word is: WEIRD. Denji is weird, all the side characters is weird, they just there to be killed off, like the author was like "Hehehe this gonna be etched on the minds of the readers" like he's gonna make the next Akame ga kill but it was just bland. i feel no connection towards any characters in this show, and plotlines makes it even worse because the plot is fricking weird.
I personally think that the fact that they can be killed off easily is accurate, they live in a world with fucking monsters running around and your only protection is to fight against the monsters with other monsters. Aki , power and denji are fleshed out characters and the fact that they can be killed off just makes them better
Dude same After ALL side characters were killed in the first arc I just dropped the manga. Like what the point of reading further if it's just Denji now without anybody who we knew before? Whoever says "but them being killed off at every moment is very accurate, even mcs!" is right but also wrong. While yes, it is accurate, this thing is a double edged sword. Bc many deaths of characters served... No feelings to me. I spent too few time with those characters to get attached so their deaths mean nothing. And knowing that characters can be easily killed off at any moment just makes you stop caring. What the point of caring if they either develop story further or just die? (Yeah I know that Kobeni is alive but I don't like her character)
@@emptinessitselfas much you cabn say its realistic, it doesn't excuse the fact that it can make the story worse, like stories aren't about being realistic they are meant to be interesting and entraining, as much as i love chainsaw man, i can't help but feel a lot less engaged on part 2 since there's no long characters like Aki and Power to create a good dynamic with Denji, it just makes the story more bland imo
@@a_naotenhonome780 yes exactly that's what I'm talking about! And it also feels like characters... Didn't serve their purpose? Like whatever any interesting character arcs Angel or Himeno could've had, are now non existent bc they're dead. And it's... Very sad tbh.
Nice video, personally I love Chainsawman but I respect your opinion.Chainsawman to me at least requires a couple of re-reads.Sure it’s chaotic weird stupid even but underneath that is a story about the main character learning how to human .Yeah I understand how the series may not be for you ,like I said nice video 😊
Okay this might catch some flak but I'm gonna say it anyone. I personally though the story of CSM was hella simple because the characters literally say it in the first chapter. CSM is about being human. Denji is a dog. He calls himself a dog, other characters call him a dog his heart is a fucking dog. He is then adopted by a the control devil who is a dog owner and he stays a dog. Slowly as he experiences little tastes of freedom and human life he reaches for it and pulls at the leash of his owner. By the end he snaps the leash entirely and decides to be human. He still loves his owner deeply but he no longer agrees to submit to her.
I recognize that CSM does some crazy stuff but it still sounds fun and also I’m not expecting CSM to be deep, I guess same thing goes for people who like demon slayer there just there visual experience they don’t care how shallow it is, I wish people would just acknowledge that something is bad or mid but doesn’t mean u can’t like😁
Chainsaw Man and Jujutsu Kaisen are the most overrated popular shounen animes ever who are a bad copy of Bleach, D.Gray-man, Ao No Exorcist, Kimetsu no Yaiba, Tokyo Ghoul, Owari no Seraph, Kisejuu.
Those are really amazing video but on top of that it's funny how you said he was simping over her and even though he was completely logical beforehand he said he wanted to become her dog when he got in front of her that kind of sums it up he was so desperate for her interaction that he was willing to throw away any and all logic to be just near her that's how much of a non life he had before love chainsaw man but these points are valid
The anime is shit, literally no character build up. I saw someone said chainsawman is better than jujitsu kaisen, so I was so exited to watch it. So disappointing
Holy s**t, I thought I was the only one who thought that Reze is a lot like Touka from Tokyo Ghoul. Only thing that was missing for Reze’s character was for her to f**k Denji until she gets pregnant. Also, you didn’t realize that Denji was born into a broken and abusive household. His dad did nothing but drink, gamble and hit his own son on a daily basis. One day, Denji’s dad got so drunk, he tried to murder his own son and Denji himself had to kill his dad in order to defend himself.
I wanna say this, im not an illustrator nor a mangaka, so disregard these ramblings that being said: The most frustrating aspect of csm is the fact that it doesn’t lead anywhere, SPOILERS denji just gets used by so many different people from the yakuza to makima and even himeno. The fact he doesn’t have an ounce of caution towards anybody is fucking insane, dude you were in the yakuza got betrayed and killed by them then got betrayed by power while at the same time makima is playing him like a fiddle. Its tragedy upon tragedy yet it doesn’t feel ultimately tragic, it feels like you stood on some train tracks and expected not to get run over by a speeding train. When I see the tragic timeline of events it feels manufactured and not impressionable. In comparison, berserk is an extremely well written series of tragedies which actually made my heart throb and wither. With csm its like why? The deaths seemed unnecessary i feel like the manga could’ve gone in whole different direction and it would’ve been masterful.
Because I think that it’s the first arc of the story whenever the death are unnecessary and I think that is the intent death just happen it doesn’t have to have a meaning nor a precise reason
You don't have to have necessary death, you're literally proving the world building that the author intended to make. And about denji well if you don't get him, I see why you don't like the manga.
Agreed with everything. But the point is that there us no point to suffer aimlessly expecting to get something out of it. In CSM part 2 you see a Denji that lives in the moment and not in the anxiety of his future. What grounds him to live him the present is to realize that it was the family that he lost in part 1 that were the best memories of what he had, thusly he values his currently family more, much like aki did, read CSM buddy stories enoshima island if you wish to get confirmation. That is why he is side character in part 2, he finally knows what he truly values and he is not afraid to wait for it. The themes are there just not apparent.
I like how you say denji didn't learn to be warry when forgetting the fact makima gave him everything and didn't show a hint of evil around him until the end we saw evil makima but denji didn't the closest thing was being called dog but if he could a house food and daily meals that's a easy deal so no he didn't get manipulated every second the only people who manipulate denji is mainly makima and he literally couldn't tell
@@Fami_dev hey if you like it, if you derive joy and/or sadness from it, and excitement and immersion then manga did its job well. CSM is overrated too. They ruined makima (for me at least) the show made her so unbearably cringe I don’t even take her as a villain, just another character for Simps to look at 💀
My biggest disagreement here is how you call everything unoriginal basically in CSM. I think it was just a fun self aware trashy fresh take on a reused way of story telling.
Come on, dude, WTF is that nonsense. "Denji took a risky gamble to defeat the main villian and won, thats absurd!" What kind of insane logic is that? What were you expecting, Denji doing a Super Saiyan? That he pulled out an even bigger chainsaw? The point of that scene is that Makina never saw Denji as anything else than a tool, is the expicit textual propuse, you must known It... cause you put the damn panels in which Denji clearly and without ambiguity explains It in the video! 😂😂😂 Your literally trying to make an "argument" over text that shows that you are wrong! How is that possible? XDDD
Do u know the meaning of a risky gamble? They don't always work the way you expect it and most likely will have consequences, if done and/or not. Otherwise there is no risk or gamble, just a thing.
@@yeetusdeletus4144 and It had consequences, lol. Denji took the gamble and at some level he had the hope It would fail, that Makima DID cared for him, but he was proven right, Makima never saw him as anything else than a tool and he grows from that and decides to be better than her. This is as if you complained that Sam managed to carry Frodo to the top of the mountaint, thats how absurd is the pretension of rational you are trying to impose to a pretty clear text.
One complaint I have is that the (spoilers) human weapon hybrids come out of nowhere. We know arrow, bomb and katana but the rest just exist to fight denji and get killed right after. Otherwise, I did enjoy the manga. I still agree with your points tho, great video 👍
i think its better that way. Becaue why are the only strong characters the main cast? an example is naruto, kakashi is Jonin level but we never actually saw a random backround character that is as strong as early kakashi

How can you get so close understand that aspect of Denji character AND STILL MISS IT! 😂YES, of course Denjis and Makina relationship is toxic, THATS THE POINT! Did you read the part Makina considering him a literal dog and you were like "dang, Denji is such a loser, why he doesnt kicks her and leaves?" You are doing the same that the simps loser do, but in the opposite direction only to be a contrarian yet ending being equaly wrong. XD

I'm exited too for the anime , however what I'm not is the ton of video that will come with the title "Power is what Sakura was supposed to be " , "CSM has a revolutionary female cast for shonen", "CSM will lift the Sakura curse". People who will make these videos are generally either people who read 3 shonen manga in their lives or either people who know what bullshit they're doing but want some views because this kind of video sell pretty well. Amd we all know they'll do that , they can't help it , they already did that that with JJK last year , they did that with Black Clover before and with MHA before them . It made me wondered if the average shonen readers got a Strock or Alzheimer since 2014 , because eating the same shit over , not twice , but three times , that's just beyond my understanding. How in almost 60 years of shonen whether from WSJ , Weekly Shonen magazine or Weekly Shonen Sunday , people can watch these videos and Like them , made think "just HOW?!" (I'm also sure they'll do that with Hell's Paradise when the anime will come)

This is your opinion and it's not ripoff of jujustu kaisen That's the way the mangaka write his story.. Fire punch was one of the manga he wrote before chainsaw man and it's pretty much chaotic than chainsaw man Saying it's a ripoff of jujustu kaisen is the most horrible thing I've heard the whole year That's what is different bro the protagonist..it's not like your other shonen jump protagonist who fights to be recognized by everyone That's the way shonen jump is changing and if you think chainsaw man is trash well except more series like this because chainsaw man is setting the pace for other manga You should check out other new shonen jump series for example 'ayashimon' you don't expect all the shonen jump protagonist to follow the same route and their resolve is to be the best among their peers Chainsaw man isn't scared to shy away from that static resolve and it's what makes it great At the end it's all based on opinion This series doesn't even have an anime yet but still outsell most popular manga

Jujutsu Kaisen was 40-50 chapters in before chainsaw man started. That's more than enough time to take some stuff😂 Also, I think I read a article of the author saying he's a fan of Jujutsu Kaisen, soooooo.....
What makes Chainsaw man so likable is the fact that it steers away from the typical shonen formula we are so use to seeing. It is meant to be dummy over the top fun, not deep. The MC can grow a chainsaw for a head with chainsaw blades coming out of his arms all while his initial motivation is being able to grab a boob. While a lot of points you made may be true, it still kicks ass and I’m for it.
This is why i prefer simpleminded protags like denji and saitama from one punch man their goals are so simple and non convoluted. They do not want to become the king of this. The strongest or greatest thing of that. Like other protags because they are just normal dudes with normal problems who got their powers either through hard work or by chance.
@@Tywil714 Denji is the most complex shonen protagonist since... Bakugan at least. His simplicity is a commentary in the usual cliches of a shonen protagonist, is not that hes simple cause he's an idiot (which he is), but that hes human and product of the trauma in which he had to grow. Like, theres so many layers of narrative complexity going around in Chainsaw that my brain cant just rationalize that someone walks out of reading It thinking its just another shonen. To begin with just compare Denji twisted sense of morality with Saitama, Saitama pretends to not care about anything cause he's too strong and bored, but he still saves the day consinstently. Denji on the other hand often makes everything worse, is usually coherced into doing the "right thing", most times Makina isnt pulling his strings he just loses and when he eventually comes to do the actual right thing is because he grows as a person... at the cost of losing everything he cares for. Like, theres no comparasion even at that basic lvl, Saitama is a fun one note character, Denji is a multi-layered tragic hero.
@@TriggeredSenpai I have to ask or is going to turn me crazy: Do you folks think he has a Chainsaw just because its cool? Why you people think that the Chainsaw devil's power is to errase stuff? Cause the manga explains It pretty clearly, lol, there was a whole chapter that was almost just a conversation about the ethical and metaphisical implications of that power, it was a clear commentary in the endless cycle of media under capitalism, a commentary in what causes "trashy" shonens to exists. Having a yutub channel talking about that subject almost specifically how can you not catch up on that obvious metaphor? What manga have you people read? 😂
This guy's opinions are equivalent of that guy who doesn't consider a diner something without meat in it. All characters didn't develop BAD, character making dumb mistakes, because they have flaws BAD, everything in the story or world isn't explained BAD, also he doesn't seem to consider point of view of specific characters to understand their actions. I agree with maybe half of what he said in this and tokyo revengers and jojo part 4 video, but he tends to analize things sallow, and he needs that generic shounen "meat" in his story to like it. I mean he scored chainsaw man a 7 which is a high score, but the complains weren't all justified
Main problem with the story is that it's just pointless and leads to nowhere? It's literally just random shit happening for the sake of random shit happening, and people trying to give it some kind of meaning, but there really isn't any..And that's supposed to be good? Lol...Very telling of society that this is the shit ppl hype up now. 10/10 video

Never really got into the manga, I dropped it after 20 or so chapters. I really liked Fire Punch (except the ending), and I found Chainsaw Man somewhat boring and lacking, compared to its predecessor. Maybe I'll give it a try again in a few years, once it will be completed.
This was my first manga I’ve completed and man, it was amazing to me. I completely agree with you on the side characters they are very underutilized in my opinion. Great review, also reading Jujutsu Kaisen next.
1. Denji doesn't fall for ever woman I don't know where you got that idea from but its not true the only two people he actually fell for was makima and reze the power touching boobs was literally showing denji the difference between love and lust as makima explained to denji that if you know a partner better its more fun and denji liking makima even though she is "crazy" is because even makima call him her dog she still gave denji a good life he has food good living conditions and all he has to do is be called dog and kill devils that's a sweet deal secondly makima was trying to manipulate denji through seduction since she's fan of chainsaw man she couldn't just immediately control him 2. Makima's date with denji wasn't random it was makima trying to get closer to denji to control him and reze was planning to run away with denji which would be bad for makima's plans and she knew where to find reze because of the animals she used their sences that's literally why she listens to conversations over Japan and why keshibe says makima is listening Makima whole character wasn't to unlock the full chainsawman's power it was literally to use chainsawman's power to make a perfect world with pochita existence erasure ability 3.makima was always in the morally grey area from the start you knew she was evil in some way but didn't why or how much 4.makima doesn't show favoritism to denji she literally only saw pochita who she is literally a fan of and makima isn't letting denji touch his titties for no reason she wants to break the contract free chainsawman and make a "perfect world" 5. The claim you made about chainsawman fans only bringing her up when talking about her ass isn't true they talk about her motivation to make a "perfect world"and how that didn't seem bad at first or how she is portrayed as marry from the Bible in manny instances but yeah there is a lot then just makima butt 6.the hell part you completely misread its only referring to devils not humans that go to hell and it isn't even confirmed if humans go to hell 7. The hierarchy in hell is literally established and established more with the four horsemen 8.just become the strongest devil is the most feared doesn't mean they will have the most broken hax being feared makes your stats and the potency of the ability better not the actual ability 9.the fight between denji and aki and the people giving him blood was foreshadowing to how makima was making people like chainsawman and seeing him as a hero the blitz was because aki gained somewhat consession for a second also every fight is different in some way denji vs kattana man he uses new move denji vs reze he uses a new move and doesn't win on purpose denji vs santa claus literally lights himself on fire to kill her since she heals from darkness 10. Denji only asked makima if he could be her dog because he didn't feel like living or making his decisions because he killed aki someone very close that he considered family makima also brings up the fact denji actually killed his father to make denji make denji think that he doesn't want to make decisions 11. Denji took a gamble and his gamble was right because she literally didn't know denji there until it was too late even more so confirmed by the fact makima was confused how her smell was bypassed and when given the explanation makima was surprised again it makes more sence that denji took the risk and it payed off if we assume a possibility that was never even pointed out it doesn't really make sence and you looking for the contradiction doesn't work especially when we are given a clear explanation of the most likely thing 12. Denji literally only won the final battle because be liked makima and wanted to be one with her and this being said again and again was so you could understand how denji won 13.nyuata and denji don't have a rommantic relationship and it's actually pretty discusting that you actually even came to that conclusion and literally it was stated by pochita makima only was that way because of the government trying to control her she only ever wanted an actual relationship with somone but she couldn't since everyone was below her and thats pochita asked denji to give her lots of hugs he was asking denji to make sure sahe doesn't become makima so and make sure she gets all the love and care she needs
@yalovoyhznepomny wym final, for example, do you mean the finale because first off, the finale of part wasn't meant to wrap everything thing up because they were going to make part two so it's very disgenous to say ohh they didn't address this thing when the story ain't over and the finale on its own surves it's purpose of building denji up his character is base on the hierarchy of needs it's so easy to see
7:05 well yeah as a teenager I can confirm Denji is relatable if you lived in a shed your entire life regularly ate slices of bread for dinner from birth your life was hell and your dad committed suicide leaving you in your own tell me what kind of grand goal would you have if you could even pay the food and light bill regularly denji lived in the shed they charged well over ¥100,000 just for him to be there we both know that’s a rip off but what is he going to do about it Denji isn’t intelligent enough to seek higher at least not at the start of the anime
6:07 but is that realistic? How do people typically handle not being acknowledged and neglected? How do children typically handle losing their entire family Tanjiro as I recall was like 12 or 14 if I saw my family get dismembered by a bear the thought going through my mind is not learning how to kill bears Denji’s trauma is so bad he copes via a repression of memories
So you want to watch an overly hyper realistic character? You want to watch a normal ass character have his entire life ruined and just chill? In shonen? Not going to happen.
I cringe so hard listening to this guy talk the story isn’t conveyed through words so it may not seem like jjk were they hold your hand the entire way over explaining everything (trust me I love jjk I’m not bagging on it) the story is conveyed through the characters facial expressions and emotions sometimes you will go like 20 or so pages without any words spoken the drawings speak for this manga he also says things are a ripoff of other things and I’m just saying it’s okay to take inspiration but nothing is blatantly copied sorry you can only get used to goodie goodie Shonen characters denji is just different instead of being like “yeah I’ll save the people” he says “ nah I don’t really wanna but if you let me touch ur chest I’ll do it”you are bagging on the unique things about this manga and it’s just sad because it really is a modern masterpiece
I agree with a few points in the pacing. But I disagree with the characters. Not every character needs to be fully developed to be included in a story. I also disagree that Denji’s character is “not good” All the horny loser aspects of him come from a longing for intimacy. Also, his horny shit is always used for a purpose. When his relationship with Makima is explored further he learns that there's more to the sexual pleasures. His hornieness is also written as an intentional flaw in his character. Time and time again it places him in the worst possible situations. Rather than learning from it, he continues to be manipulated. And in the moments he does acknowledge these faults he is distracted and manipulated once again. A lot of chainsaw man fans like to think he’s written that way to be relatable and sympathetic, which is true to some extent. But like you said this is honestly just projecting on their part. He is written to be flawed and scummy which influences the characters around him or moves the story forward. You’re point on “Makima did not make him do it” Is not entirely true. Makima isn’t just the control devil through her powers. It is seen through her mental control over Aki and Power. She uses psychological tactics as well. Again Denji is not a bad character cause he is a loser and horny. Denji is not deep by any means but he isn’t a bad character. Another thing your problem with world-building is that you don’t know anything. In story writing it's important to give your readers a sense of mystery to build questions. Some of the questions you have are already being answered in part two which was very much intentional. Also, there are two types of world-building that I think you should look into. Soft world-building and hard world-building. I agree with the repetition of fights. Shit was hella annoying in the assassination arc as well as the final fight when Chainsawman transforms. I don’t think the gun devil fight was overhyped in any way. The crowd that helped chainsawman was reasonable because there was a build-up to the public appeal of chainsaw man. It also develops his arc into popularity. Aki was fated to die cause of his corny vengeance arc. Also was part of Makima’s plan. Finally calling chainsawman trash is wild ngl. It has subverted many shonen troupes and has established very well-written female characters which are uncommon in its genre which is why it is well-liked. Is it as good as the incels say it is? Fuck no, but writing it off as a shallow watered-down version of manga like jjk is unfair. People comparing it to jjk are brain-dead. Good video, it was a nice change of pace from people molding over its success since you provided good critique.
@@TriggeredSenpai I’ll agree with you on a lot of parts. Like that it’s basically a copy of jjk and no reasons to kill the the characters I honestly like the show mainly because I find entertaining and honestly pretty cool watch but I just wish that FujiMoto would actually put more work into the characters. Give us more backstory on them. Let us get attached to them before just killing them all for no reason.
Anyway. Chainsaw man has more in common with a seinen slice of life/drama, than it does a shounen battle manga. Comparing it to JJK is weird because they're nothing alike. It's more like a Tarantino movie crossed with FLCL. Author himself said he just wanted to write a dark FLCL.
I still think it's trash. That story is all over the place and makes no sense. #1 thing to do when creating a story is making your audience understand what's going on which he failed to do
@@TriggeredSenpai I get that. However, would that not just mean he failed to do so in a way that you specifically understood? Since many others understand it just fine. That does not inherently make it all over the place or hard to understand in a broader audience, as you yourself are not the broader audience. Though I definitely understand why that would make it trash for you specifically. I do think people are going a little bit overboard in the comments. This is probably why I personally avoid the term trash altogether. And more so remind people that I'm just not part of the audience a work was intended for. Which is a very easy, valid criticism with CSM, given the story is fundamentally different than most shounen in the way it is told. Though the themes are definitely similar. This is actually why I'm against hyping it up to anime onlys. This story is definitely not for everyone. And I see a lot of people acting like this will be the second coming of jesus. People are definitely expecting "Another JJK" despite CSM barely having anything in common with Shounen besides maybe on a surface level. There is going to be a lot of disappointment on that front. But regardless, I think what most of the comments seem to have against you is: Rather than it seeming like you just don't get it. It comes across like you're saying neither would anyone else, despite that obviously not being what you're saying at all. Which, to be fair, also adds to this subtle level of Discredit that comes across. It definitely doesn't come across as "constructive" when you yourself offer no construction. Not that you are obliged to, obviously. But I see a lot of criticism coming down to things along the lines of "just use the formula"(not word for word if course), which would completely go against who Fujimoto is. A lot of CSM doesn't even have anything to do with fighting. Fighting just sorta happens in the process of Denji maturing. It definitely didn't belong in SJ. Not even in the slightest. So going into it like that, people inevitably end up confused. It would be like going into a story expecting fights and shounen formula, and receiving Steins;Gate but directed by Michael bay.
@@TriggeredSenpai I understand that anime/mangas like demon slayer are your favourite, some rotten fodder you can enjoy while turning your brain off. Thinking is not for you I guess
Finally someone put my fuckin hate for the series into a video. The popularity poll broke it for me, HOW YOU GONNA HAVE A CAR WITH NOT DIALOGUE AT ALL IN YOUR TOP 8 OFFICIAL RANKINGS? ITS A CAR DUDE. I just dont get it at all
Just wanted to try and give answers to some of your questions: 1)Hell. I dont think we as readers are supposed to understand how Hell works (yet). I mean we saw shit like the darkness devil who was able to chop off all people’s limbs after a fucking frog showed up?? Thats cuz it is a being who goes beyond our comprehension, so trying to understand hell as a whole is even more complicated than that. Also i dont think theres a “ruler” of hell in csm like lucifer or sum. If anything i guess the primordial devils are the rulers since we saw other devils be scared of them and not wanting to mess with em. 2) when u said it was stupid that after denji used his head for 80 chapters he now wanted to be makimas dog and not think anymore, im not tryna say it was a smart move but from his pov when he uses his head to solve things without makima showing up he ends up depressed (he fought reze and she gone, he fought aki and he died). 3) chainsaw man power. We have an extremely successful manga/anime called “one piece” that still has to show this “one piece” after a 1000+ chapters. I think its fair that we dont know everything about chainsaw mans power in “chainsaw man” after only 97 chapter😂
@@TriggeredSenpai yeah you did and you still miss the whole point your bringing up alot of points that would work for a manga focused on characters but this is supposed to be action most comparable to American comics
Let me keep this short. Just because your story is meant to be Chaotic & Over The Top, doesn't give the author the excuse to write a inconsistent, Depth-less, shallow story. There are better ways to write a Chaotic-Action Packed story & Chainsaw Man is not it
@@TriggeredSenpai most of the community acts like its deep It's just supposed to overall be cool and over the top I dont at all think it's supposed to be deep
After watching the 1st episode, I was disappointed. After a few chapters of the manga, I am just not interested. The art is fine. I like the graphic scenes, but it really feels like the main character's arc finished in the 1st chapter. He got everything he wanted off the rip (pun intended).
It’s because you don’t fucking get it thats all, every other character has some big fuckin goal in life, why rant about some mc who has at first small goals in life? But when the story proceeds he will have bigger goals. He even explained to makima that touching boobs wasn’t as great as he thought would be. The Twists are good the design of the character (devils) is one if the best i have ever seen, there are plenty of references or biblical anecdotes in it that you just don’t get at first. So reread factor is pretty high at least for me. Everyone else should decide whether its for them or not, but why criticising such bullshit meaningless aspects of this show (manga), when you clearly don’t get the story in the first place and what it tries to tell?
The thing about Lucifer and satan not being in CSM is due to shintoism not having them. There's only kami and the devils are kind of like kami for specific fears
Realest shit i’ve ever heard. All my friends hyped this up and it resulted me in reading the most mid ass chapters i’ve ever seen in my life. It had potential but ultimately failed.
Same exact thing happens with a nezuko girl let’s not pretend like grown men are not out here simpin over a child some people just generally enjoy the idea of being dominated, Makima’s appearance is that of a 24-year-old woman it’s easy to see where some people are attracted

In spite of the fact that you could argue that my argument is invalid because I like chainsaw man, I don't really enjoy Denji's weirdness but rather I find him interesting, I think we would agree and kindly disagree on certain points? Read the manga, denji stops being such a horny loser
Midsaw man is garbage 🗑️
This anime is as silly as chainsaw man. Both are very weak stories. Also, the first season of CSM was a copy of JJK. Both the characters and the world. The usual characters we all saw. And a world that fights with demons. with overpower characters
ok@@realanimeir3173

XD
Honestly the "me horny want booba and sex" bit was funny for a while but its denji's whole personality and it gets tiring
that's the thing. the worst part about the manga is that the characters aren't even characters. Denji is literally just a POV of the modern cuck man who doesn't have real goals nor does things out of his own accord
Trust me, that’s only funny to a certain demographic…. That stuff makes it hard to enjoy a good plot in a show if there actually is one.
This really suggests that the antagonists are even worse than the heroes of this work
Makima doesn't need justifying she just a bitch

@@deusex17kkfkdklsl19 what?

@@usamahhuda8960I agree with this, she was also pretty certain the fight was over since she even lied down and started smoking
How so? In what way? I’m quite curious as to what aspects in the story you personally see as not hitting the mark

@@BLIZZ2012 exactly what this guy! I appreciate you CSM who don't get angry at us straight from the get go! I think Mushoku Tensei used sex a lot better for character driven plot. Wow the show about a chainsaw boy is weird what a shocker 😱
I personally think that the fact that they can be killed off easily is accurate, they live in a world with fucking monsters running around and your only protection is to fight against the monsters with other monsters. Aki , power and denji are fleshed out characters and the fact that they can be killed off just makes them better
Dude same
After ALL side characters were killed in the first arc I just dropped the manga.

XDDD
well he thinks angel's backstory is from his last life instead of being just his back story so....

I don't know where you got that idea from but its not true the only two people he actually fell for was makima and reze the power touching boobs was literally showing denji the difference between love and lust as makima explained to denji that if you know a partner better its more fun and denji liking makima even though she is "crazy" is because even makima call him her dog she still gave denji a good life he has food good living conditions and all he has to do is be called dog and kill devils that's a sweet deal secondly makima was trying to manipulate denji through seduction since she's fan of chainsaw man she couldn't just immediately control him
2. Makima's date with denji wasn't random it was makima trying to get closer to denji to control him and reze was planning to run away with denji which would be bad for makima's plans and she knew where to find reze because of the animals she used their sences that's literally why she listens to conversations over Japan and why keshibe says makima is listening
Makima whole character wasn't to unlock the full chainsawman's power it was literally to use chainsawman's power to make a perfect world with pochita existence erasure ability
3.makima was always in the morally grey area from the start you knew she was evil in some way but didn't why or how much
4.makima doesn't show favoritism to denji she literally only saw pochita who she is literally a fan of and makima isn't letting denji touch his titties for no reason she wants to break the contract free chainsawman and make a "perfect world"
5. The claim you made about chainsawman fans only bringing her up when talking about her ass isn't true they talk about her motivation to make a "perfect world"and how that didn't seem bad at first or how she is portrayed as marry from the Bible in manny instances but yeah there is a lot then just makima butt
6.the hell part you completely misread its only referring to devils not humans that go to hell and it isn't even confirmed if humans go to hell
7. The hierarchy in hell is literally established and established more with the four horsemen
8.just become the strongest devil is the most feared doesn't mean they will have the most broken hax being feared makes your stats and the potency of the ability better not the actual ability
9.the fight between denji and aki and the people giving him blood was foreshadowing to how makima was making people like chainsawman and seeing him as a hero the blitz was because aki gained somewhat consession for a second also every fight is different in some way denji vs kattana man he uses new move denji vs reze he uses a new move and doesn't win on purpose denji vs santa claus literally lights himself on fire to kill her since she heals from darkness
10. Denji only asked makima if he could be her dog because he didn't feel like living or making his decisions because he killed aki someone very close that he considered family makima also brings up the fact denji actually killed his father to make denji make denji think that he doesn't want to make decisions
11. Denji took a gamble and his gamble was right because she literally didn't know denji there until it was too late even more so confirmed by the fact makima was confused how her smell was bypassed and when given the explanation makima was surprised again it makes more sence that denji took the risk and it payed off if we assume a possibility that was never even pointed out it doesn't really make sence and you looking for the contradiction doesn't work especially when we are given a clear explanation of the most likely thing
12. Denji literally only won the final battle because be liked makima and wanted to be one with her and this being said again and again was so you could understand how denji won
13.nyuata and denji don't have a rommantic relationship and it's actually pretty discusting that you actually even came to that conclusion and literally it was stated by pochita makima only was that way because of the government trying to control her she only ever wanted an actual relationship with somone but she couldn't since everyone was below her and thats pochita asked denji to give her lots of hugs he was asking denji to make sure sahe doesn't become makima so and make sure she gets all the love and care she needs

But Chainsaw man is really bad. Jujutsu Kaisen deserved hype more than this shit
bro the reason why a lot of things haven't been explained is because chainsaw man isn't even over yet, it's still ongoing
Idc what yall say chainsaw man is a good show and manga cope.

Give us more backstory on them. Let us get attached to them before just killing them all for no reason.

#1 thing to do when creating a story is making your audience understand what's going on which he failed to do
@@TriggeredSenpai
I get that.
But regardless, I think what most of the comments seem to have against you is:
Rather than it seeming like you just don't get it.

@@studywithnisha2461 what is reading properly ???. lol maybe he didn't understand it like the author meant. also maybe he doesn't like it.

The thing about Lucifer and satan not being in CSM is due to shintoism not having them. There's only kami and the devils are kind of like kami for specific fears
Bruh the four horsemen are from Bible, also, Shintoism has Demons not Devils, CSM barely had any Shinto references
Denji Aka Chainsaw devil dating Kobeni made me slam my phone to the ground to the point of cracking the screen with the whole toxicity.
Realest shit i’ve ever heard. All my friends hyped this up and it resulted me in reading the most mid ass chapters i’ve ever seen in my life. It had potential but ultimately failed.
UGH SAME. i don’t understand the fuckin hype
@@takitoTaco after reze died i was like yea this is doomed
@@JustChinny on god. would it have killed the author to keep 1 other character alive besides the walking zombie denji?
@@takitoTaco facts and people will be like oh he’s so different cuz everyone’s dead!! Like bro it’s not good story telling…
@@JustChinny😂 do I have news for you guys
Same exact thing happens with a nezuko girl let’s not pretend like grown men are not out here simpin over a child some people just generally enjoy the idea of being dominated, Makima’s appearance is that of a 24-year-old woman it’s easy to see where some people are attracted
still weird dude
I actually really enjoy chainsawman but I will never understand that weird ass barking shit.
@@God-ox3mt thank you for like saying that you would being Taylor Swift but instead of saying that you would act banging Taylor Swift and then you say “I’d do it just like this when making a joke to your friends” that was quick that to someone else saying if I was in the same old is chainsaw man this is how I would be if every time I saw Makima and you get a similar thing it’s just reskinned
By the way, Makima is 13 or 14 years old, since it was she who wounded the Pochitta and died from his wounds
literally cant agree with you more. i saw JJK first then CSM and was so confused by how can people said CSM was better than JJK. CSM main character was absolutely a loser and lame. The series was over sexualize, horny for no reason. Which is so annoying to watch.
Yes, I have the same feeling... But you get used to the fanservice and Denji becomes a wonderful character in the finale . But it's better to start reading the second part and not understand what's going on than to read the first part
why is it so hard for people to read/watch/play something without the fandom being a weigh on their decision lol do other people really effect your enjoyment of things that much? shit is so childish to me
why does everything have to be life changing lvls of depth with every soft main character thinking they are the next ghandi?, why cant we just have doom as a manga lol
