For a long time I couldn't disassociate this song from Soccer Sunday. Richard Keys talking over the track at full time, telling us Oldham v Sheff Utd which ended 0-0 was breathtaking whilst wiping his brow with this hand and making a phew noise.
Time has now passed and I can enjoy again ❤
This is the Weller I most respond to. That slightly agitated soulful sound. Filled with righteous anger and lyrical lament. I hope he finds his way back to this sound. I love his pastoral and experimental later albums, but the soulful stuff hits me hardest.
Cool as fuck. Absolute legend on every musical level known to man. And you can't argue with that.

Iv seen him untold times, had the pleasure of meeting him, sat up drinking with the band till 5 in the morning, got photos somewhere, and been on the guest list in Italy, thanks to Steve cradock, will be meeting up with them all very soon and going backstage lucky me ☺️

I have had the pleasure of seeing him 2x as well, small venues. He is my all time favorite artist since he was in the Jam. Really started with the Style Council.
I know he gets respect weller but Jam and Style Council and then Wild Wood album, pretty good then Stanley Rd and as far as im concerned top 5 English artist. went on to make so many banging albums, I am glad i got to see him live.

I saw a show on Paul about a year ago. It showed him getting a haircut by a very old barber, talking in a phone booth and playing in a small place. Anyone know the show I'm talking about?? It opened my eyes as to who Paul is. This is a great song!!!

underrated - 2 bands, solo artist, a greatest hits album from 13 years ago! was someone only born ten years ago!! Paul Weller was underrated about twenty years ago MAYBE.
He was never in Dexys Midnight Runners. You must be confusing him with Mick Talbot who was in Dexys and who played keyboard with Weller in The Style Council.
