Music video by Paul Weller performing The Changingman. (C) 1998 Go! Discs Ltd.
Pure class. British rock at it's finest
Weller is an institution, a mod icon and working class hero. Authentic, great song writer, and musican. Paul Weller will be remembered in years from know.
Lol

@@chugnuts870 'Now' exactly what your ad hominem ruse means there, Chug. Stay free. 🍻😎
Spot on Peter Howard, never forgot his working class roots
Some songwriter. He nicked this song from ELO's, "10538 Overture".
I never understood why this guy wasn't huge in the USA, he is phenominal. Super talented.
He has been adamantly British since 1976.
He tours North America, even plays the LA game a bit.
But he writes about England.
He's a British poet.
And many American fans are ok with that.
They call football as soccer that's explain all
@@celticbhoy1887 ooof, that's quite a burn u made there innit??
Grunge ruled rock in the 90's especially in the US seeing as it was created in Seattle
@@celticbhoy1887 great comment! I’m American who has supported Man United since 93. Started following Celtic when Roy Keane played his last season there
'The more I know, the less I understand'...so fucking true!
this man epitomises British rock., He's the bollocks
Not about round summer he's about Alex
Ayup
The dogs bollocks mate!
Yeah man, I'm a New Yorker and unfortunately his music is virtually ignored here. But man this guy has got it all, he should be a superstar .
Never really been a dedicated follower of Paul Weller but I must admit, every time I hear one of his tracks it blows me away, like this one does every time. I also love 'You Do Something To Me'. Bloody brilliant stuff that.
Me too, not really a fan, but I love this track.
Here in Cornwall THE JAM comes before the cream.
im 15, & i love paul weller.
From one of the best albums EVER! Stanley Road. I never get tired of Paul Weller. There is no music like this now.
This man should be successful in America asin England he is out of this world 😍
The inspiration for this song (or the title at least) came from when Paul saw his little daughter playing with one of her dolls. He asked her what the doll was called and she replied “he’s the changing man”
Paul Weller plays what he wants. He stopped caring about popular opinion in 1982.
Extremely underrated song!
stalledrangen Sounds like ELOS OVERTUNE
What a legend
Agreed
Crappy vocals ruin it. Guitar and the whole Cream vibes are top notch.
it was huge!
The older I get, the more this makes sense.
MitchelGant : yep, the more I know the less I understand 😜
Cheers
Yeah.
Just what I thought. Built on shifting sands...
Ain't that the truth man
@@reviewswithpappy8058 always did.
His best album hands down, truly EPIC! Dear 2020, please take me back to 1995.
Nope his first solo album Paul Weller is his best ever album by far
For the first solo album is very good but his best album is Wildwood & Livewood is pretty good too?
His first 3 albums blow me away everytime. Each one could be considered his best
The more I see
The more I know
The more I know
The less I understand
I'm a changingman
👍🏼👌🏼🎶❤️✌🏼
Paul Weller = probably the coolest guy alive today.
Like an old man dressed as a school boy. Nothing cooler than that
I think that title goes to slash
Is that some kind of fetish?!? 💅❤️
I am the face 😂
Seen Mr. Weller play this live many times. Unbelievable. The Man is a legend no one comes close 🎯
This man is a legend
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
Love his voice.. gets better as time flies bye
How did Jeff Lynne not get a writing credit on this? This has "10538 Overture" all over it!
Paul Weller has even admitted he borrowed the riff from 10538 Overture........
Paul Weller is one of the most gifted songwriters of the 20th century and one of the most underrated, least popular, & mostly misunderstood. Why? Anybody knows? Thanks. #pwLegend
But still called the modfather i dont get it either
Sartorial supremacy and next level musical gifts. Weller is a total Don. 40 years into a career and still bossin' it!
What a voice this guy has. Rock at it's finest.
Massively influential on me as a young female growing up in England in the 80s. Unique and if anything underrated voice. Working class hero and poet. Remains to this day the best dressed man in music. In fact best dressed man in every field.
Best lyricist of the 80s and 90s
Very well said, I agree 100%
Paul Weller "underrated". Prick
If anyone ever asks you to explain why weller is the coolest dude ever. Just show them this video. Enough said....
not likely anyone's gonna ask that, but enjoy your fantasy world. enough said ...
@@Marcel_Audubon thanks for your enlightened comments the world is a much better place now for your pearls of wisdom....... wanker.
Direct lift from ELO's 'Overture'!
When i listen to this song i get nostalgic for a place and time that doesn't exist anymore and it.makes me want to cry
I agree I listen to this and style council and enjoy keep all you x factor voice rubbish
god I just met somebody, that makes me feel like that, and can't tell them it's too much pain betrayal sorrow regrets loss,
yeh, but you can still find those places now and again, inside sometimes it all comes flooding back and on the odd occasion you meet someone who sends you back there again. Rare but its happened to me.
That was the 1990s.
Or the 20th Century.
Sorry you missed it.
Know what you mean I over heard a song the other day and it went like this "me take her, of take her, then me mate take her, then his mate take her roast her".... Riffic dear oh dear
The Modfather!!!
Mr Weller never ceases to amaze w his talent and genius! Jam, SC or himself, he is the changing man
Awsome tune 🎶
What a fucking artist,has had 70+ singles hits.1972-present.
There is a great clenched, taught quality to his interpretation of soul . Truly a unique voice.
Only just discovered this song today, LOVE IT.
Genius lyrics
Epitome of cool
WELLER FOREVER!
We were spoiled growing up in the 90's 😁
90s no way. Should have been in the 80s, now that's a decade I 'll never forget, absolutely amazing. X
Try The Jam in the late 70s 80s and The Style Council then....
weller is a mod legend
Yea but we all hate Leeds, mfc Boro frontline, avit
@@adamluck4413 Boro pmsl , its not your fault your shite Pal . Up the Geordie`s and as shite as you .
Seen him live a few years back, place errupted when he played a snippet of "that's entertainment" He is a one man institution of rock !!
Favourite Weller song. So much swagger to it
Cazi Sounds like ELOs OVERTUNE SONG
Cazi sounds like ELOs OVERTUNE song
Why can't you spell Overture?
Lee mavers wrote this song
An amazingly addictive song. I can’t listen to it just once.
Wow, what a concept. Music that is actually excellent in arrangement and execution. We need more real musicians like Paul in the world. Please!!!!
Or do we need more musicians in a real world. ?
You were on point ❤😂
This legend deserves to be much better known worldwide than he is.
"Muh, 10538 Overture!" Yup, Jeff Lynne allowed Paul to use it and as usual, Weller used it extremely well.
Just playing the ELO song on the radio Wave105 and here I am.
Paul weller looking great as usual.
Weller music has saved my soul a few times
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
This is the coolest man on THE planet!
That guitar tone during the solo reminded me a LOT of George Harrison's tone in Taxman.
It all reminds of Clapton's Tales of brave Ulysses
What a genius of a song and an absolute Genius of a man.
the man is sooo coool love the clothes he wears in this.
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
The older I get the more it makes sense.
One of his best songs.
completely stolen from ELO 10538 overture
@@thomasandersen6719 Is it? Try listening to Faces song, Flying.. which pre-dates Overture. I'd say it's likely ELO 'borrowed' a riff or two as well.
One might also argue that it's very difficult to name a 100% original recording.
@@simonp8698 I agree that this sounds like the same riff...I didn't know that song by Faces
@@thomasandersen6719 @simonp8698 Chord progression's the same (many different songs uses the same progression) , but Flying goes down each chord while 10538 goes up. Not the same.
@@simonp8698 I can hear the brass sound from 10538 my man, stop lying
Wild wild wood omg so addictive can't get his song's out my head such talent 👌💯
“The future is called "perhaps", which is the only possible thing to call the future. And the only important thing is not to allow that to scare you.”
Tennessee Williams
One of my favourites of all time. Ingenious sample. This song woke me up to music.
great song by Weller I listen to him all the time
It was basically writen by ELO
The best dressed and stylish Englishman that ever lived.
Try John Lennon
Bryan Ferry.
Bowie.
worst haircut
Fik off .... troll who cares ...it's the MODfather ....great musio.
paul weller is the Man!...but the dancer ooooh yeah
Paul Weller and his Music is soooooo british. One of my favourite Tunes.
So much style and Kudos 😊. Loved this tune at the time and the album 😊😊😊. Played it a lot through the summer of 96 😊. Euro 96 and all that great summer . Love his Jackets the guitar and everything . Class video 😊😊😊.
The "Modfather." He's revered in the UK; justifiably so. First heard this fantastic song when I was driving through Chicago. He "borrowed" ELO's 10538 Overture riff for this gem & they let him use it.
ELO borrowed a few from The Beatles, who borrowed a few from Chuck Berry. Used to be common practice, now everyone gets sued.
True. In fact 10538 has a little Dear Prudence in it. Not much worth "borrowing" from in today's music. Take care!
@@michaelulbricht9438 Listen to Faces - Flying. Came before Overture.
Ironically, I recently posted a comment on The Faces playing Flying live. It's my favorite song off of First Step. Weller blatantly "lifted" the riff from ELO's 10538 Overture. It wasn't something that just sounded akin to Changingman; like Dear Prudence or Flying. Take care and Peace!
@@michaelulbricht9438 Good to hear.. definitely one of my favourite Faces songs, Debris is at the moment, but depends on mood and circumstance..
Love how his voice has changed, and he's obviously wise to write lines that suit it.
Stanley Road was his finest hour / master piece! He's never hit these heights since. One of the best solos on changing man you'll ever hear!
i come back here every once in a while and get nostalgia feels every time - grade 8 good old days
This is a fantastic track...inspiring.
Had this on VHS back in the day, recorded it off the telly, used to pause it at 1.29 so often. Ah to be young again. ;)
Saw him live in 97. he opened ith this. wow! that boy can play guitar!
Hello, how are you doing? It is nice seeing you here.
The changingman
Is happiness real or am I so jaded?
Can't see or feel like a man been tainted
Numbed by the effect, aware of the muse
Too in touch with myself, I light the fuse
I'm the changingman
Woh
Built on shifting sand
Yea
I'm changingman
Woh
Waiting for the bang
(Bang)
As I light a bitter fuse
Our time is on loan, only us to borrow
An' I know
But I can't be today, I can be tomorrow
Yea, all I see, the more I know
The more I know, the less I understand
I'm the changingman
Built on shifting sands
Yea
I'm a changingman
I' m waiting for the bang
To light a bitter fuse
Bigger part ahh, when our instincts act
A shot in the dark, a movement in black, yea
More I see, more I know
The more I know, the less I understand you
(Changingman)
Yea eee aaa
Built on shifting sands
I don't have a plan
I'm changingman
Waiting for the bang
To light a bitter fuse
(Changingman)
Built on shifting sands
Yea eee yea
I'm a changingman
Waiting for the bang
To light a bitter fuse
Yea eee yea

All I got from this is no matter how much weller changes his clothes he still looks impeccable, sharpest man who's ever lived
dear prudence > 10538 overture > the changingman
Louie Louie >More Than A Feeling > Smells Like Teen Spirit
more like the other wway lol
Gonzalo Huerta I'm an ELO fan but I think this is great! I've got a lot of respect for weller and I don't think Jeff Lynne would have minded.
"Flying" by the Faces
My favourite Paul Weller video.
Impeccable style. I used to put this on the video jukebox in my local in the day. The pub used to rock.
The female dancer is as sexy as.... KTF
What a brilliant song !!!!!!
Me and a good friend online spent many a messy night listening to this .... his favourite tune R.I.P buddy

So who wants to be a changing man in 2019?
Expanding knowledge is like collecting rain drops, but reality isn't like rain, it's like the ocean.
This man and his music is a new gem for me
Parts of this really sound like 10538 Overture By Electric Light Orchestra
+D Jeffery-Hughes almost exactly actually
He looks nothing like him.

D Jeffery-Hughes he ripped off the ELOs song OVERTUNE

The Mod God. Beyond super cool

Paul is an oustanding talent. He's really grown into his voice and his songs. His singing is so much improved from his days with the Jam. He's got so much soul these days. New album soon!
