NO DISRESPECT TO OTHER "UA-cam FILMMAKERS" BUT YOU ARE THE DOPEST YOU ACTUALLY KNOW AND UNDERSTAND CINEMATOGRAPHY ON A REAL WORLD LEVEL! FOR THAT I SAY THANK YOU :)
Dude you're killing it. As an aspiring/young DP, hearing your story and studying your stuff has been and is invaluable to me. Also, side note, I've seen that True Classic commercial and it's crazy that you were a part of that! Super well-done ad.
Hey filmmaker friend, thanks for sharing. It’s pretty usual information. Anytime I create a proposal, I also try to add all other estimated fees for anything to do with the commercial. That way the client sees why the total cost for every aspect of the job.
Carlo I just want to write how grateful I am for having information like that for free. You are a true value-add to the whole community. Thank you so much and waiting for the next episodes!
Carlo I like the motivational stuff you put out, but this is the meat and potatoes of what I love about your unique POV and channel overall. Lots of value thank you.
There are always high chances of things going wrong if pre production is not handled well. I have been working on projects for some good years but this video has been so helpful cant wait for more from you Mr. Carlo. Thank you so much
hey man, just wanted to leave a comment to thank you for making this series! i'm going into a 2-year film course soon and i tend to overthink stuff like this, so you've really helped me gain a better understanding on what to do starting out. p.s. i really like the vibe you're going for with these videos, really chill and informative!
Would love to see a video about the journey you went through to get to where you are today. Where/When did you start? How did you get your experience? What communities/people did you surround yourself with to help you succeed? etc. Love your content man!
Incredible video as always Carlo, so informative! The work that you're doing for this community by sharing your knowledge as a DP is incredible. Looking forward to the rest of this series! ✌
Thank you so much for the frame set tip! This one is huge for me. I always use shotdeck but sometimes it is hard to find the right moods for commercial clients. Wow :)
This content has been really needed. You are going into the depth that many of us have been craving. If possible, can you also include in this series when an art department gets involved in set building and who do they report to? How early in pre-production do they get involved and do they also attend location scouts?
i was waiting for this. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love this series. I just feel that hearing advice from someone who you think is trustworthy makes it way more enjoyable and easy to believe in what they say. Keep it up!
Thank you so much for this! How do you start getting work with directors/production companies without ever doing any real DP work? I guess like how can a videographer start trying to get work as a DP?
Saying Producers pick their DPs is a deception. That's what we think they do, But the reality is.. they pick a director who gets to choose a DP they wanna work with. More often than not Directors don't wanna work with a random DP they never met because the producer hired a cheap person who couldn't do what was needed. Do you agree?
So glad to found you from Danny. You give a lot of good info in easy to watch and listen content. It’s great for me a young aspiring dp, and sometimes I learn more than filmschool lol 🫶🏻
sheesh! the value of this video is worth more than all my 4 years in college

Learned from a portrait artist many years ago: Only talk about money twice; before you start, and when it's done.
Would love to see a video about the journey you went through to get to where you are today. Where/When did you start? How did you get your experience? What communities/people did you surround yourself with to help you succeed? etc.

Welcome!
Nice video! What is in your opinion the advantage of using 'Frame Set' as opposed to 'Shotdeck' or 'Flim"?
Can you tell us what you use to get this cinematic, film look on your videos, is it a filter or just color grading ?
Thank you
So good! We gotta connect

Correct Directors usually want their pick but it’s the producer who usually reaches out is what I was saying

So tired mist filters. Start using nice lenses instead. All filmmakers use them at the moment. 😴💤🥱
