The beauty of having notes to go along with the script is the fact that in most cases youre usually hired by clients that have seen your work, creativity and theyre generally more likely to being open to trying those ideas.
I'm just starting pre-production on a short film as a DP, and this has been invaluable. Thank you. It's really cool to see how others go about this workflow. Keep it up 💯
Loved see your perspective on this process brother. I’m in my final year of film school right now and honestly this process is extremely close if not exactly how they teach use to do it. Thank you for providing this info in such deep detail for free. You a real one ☝️
A heartwarming congratulations to you✨✨Really happy to see your dreams come true. I had been following your work right from the time you started, and seeing you scale makes me happy. Your podcasts taught me a lot. Your lighting breakdowns, the whole documentation of the bts process….. your efforts are commendable! Keep up the good work and shine bright✨ Much love from India 🇮🇳
Great video Gian! Best of luck on the new film, sounds like it's one with such great potential - you're putting in the work to make it all it can be, including searching yourself for what makes you connect with the story. It'll pay off, it always does.
Great video! Thanks for all the insights. I definitely can use them for my upcoming short film. Great to have you film in my country (the Netherlands) as well. I wish you all the best with your project!
Congrats bro, this is totally awesome. I havent tuned in for a while, but thats big news! Very insightful content too, as always. Looking forward to more :)
Really appreciated this breakdown man! I was wondering if you would ever consider making the Google Sheets template available to purchase? This would be a great resource I'd love to use as well. Good luck on your upcoming project also!
Lol it's gonna be about a painter, I only know because your mood board looks like mine and I'm making a tiny portrait about a painter. Dude I lovee this video, it's so insightful and congratulations on this opportunity. Have fun here in Europe ;)
Any insights on the first step? Im a videographer for 7 years, mostly doing weddings and corporate/commercial, but I want to fully transition to cinema, this is my passion and what i've been thinking more and more everyday, yet it seems such a huge mountain ahead, Im not that good of a writter, and tbh i'd steer towards direction of photography rather than directing, so its quite hard to think where to look for projects, how to connect with other directors and taking those first steps, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
@@carlostigsthank you mate! Very interesting to listen to your process. A lot of it is very similar to how I approach mine. Will be great to see the final result and the path leading up to it!
@@carlostigs I knew it lol! one more question if you don't mind, I am in film school learning to become a cinematographer/DP I was going to get the fx3 but my prof recommended I start with a "real camera" like the FX6 cause its more of an on set camera and he added with this camera more people will hire me, do you feel like the choice matter at the beginning because of the reasons he gave or nah?
This is where I found the Google Sheets Template for the Shot List! www.studiobinder.com/blog/shot-list-template-free-download/

Oooh I like how you got scans and laid out the floor plan of the locations you’ll film in! That’s genius!

Do you do a lighting diagram for every shots you are going to take or you only do it for a scene?
Both great and super high valuable video
Thanks a lot

What software/camera did you use to get those 3d scans of your locations?
What are your thoughts on programs like cinetracer or elixxier to have 3D renderings of lighting setups? Have you ever used them?
Haven’t really tested them yet
Would you make that shot list template on Google Sheets shareable for us? 🙏
