We were Shotdeck beta testers for over a Year.. We suddenly got dropped when it was released!
Get the shots 'in context' and watch some movies!..

I find it hard to agree with shooting various focal lengths for the same scene, just because you don't know which focal length will suit the scene better. Don't people do tests for this reason? Because, what if the actors best take was shot with a focal length that doesn't feel right?

its called experimenting and on a studio level movie you are shooting 1-2 pages a day max. They probably shot 30 takes of Joacquin for every scene.

If I understood right, I think he meant that because this was the first scene they shot and very simple to cover, they treated it as a lens test and then made decisions on how and when to use each lens moving forward. I doubt they did this for every scene of the film.

This guy missed filming Joaquin Phoenix putting out a cigarette on his leg, on the last day of shooting because he was operating a regular scene from the other room with a remote head. I find his recent movies distinctly superficial and detached.

The only problem I got with this guy is that he colaborates with Waqas Qazi. Who teaches absolutely dumb things about color grading here on youtube.
