- Taylor Swift has undoubtedly become one of the most popular singers for a generation. The country music artist turned pop superstar kicked off the European leg of her record-breaking Eras tour in Paris last week.
According to a report, the tour will provide an almost £1 billion boost to the UK economy - the latest example of ‘Swiftonomics’. Almost 1.2 million fans will spend an average of £848 on tickets, travel, accommodation, outfits and other costs to see Swift.
While fans spend hours analysing the meaning of her lyrics and making friendship bracelets with her song titles, there are some who cannot get behind the ‘Cruel Summer' singer.
Talk presenters Ian Collins and ‘Swiftie’ Maddie Hale passionately debate whether Swift can be considered “one of the best songwriters of a generation”.

Because the mainstream media push her in my face relentlessly and familiarity breeds contempt in this context. They don't do the same with Drake, who appears to be very famous and yet as a 42 year old I know nothing about him other than he exists. That's how I prefer it.

Taylor Swift is a phenomenal talent, unmatched poet and song writer, and incredible performer.
I've been studying cults for decades and been in one, there's nothing about her that marks her as a cult leader. But, really, anyone who is saying she's up there with Jim Jones is likely needing to be put away in a padded cell.

No. When Scott Borchetta offered Taylor a deal she liked, her father Scott Swift invested in Borchetta's label - the invested amount maybe was a 2% stake. The label was Big Machine Records and it was nonexistent at the time. A 2% stake, was a significant amount of money to most people, isn't nearly the kind of money producers invest nowadays when talking about Scott Swift buying Taylor a record deal. What Mr. Swift did was taking the money he had saved for Taylor's college tuition and invest it in her career instead It is a common thing that parents do when their children are pursuing a career instead of college.
