Thanks so much for the positive feedback guys, really happy with how this came out and had a lot of fun doing it! It’s all about sharing cool riffs so I’ll keep em coming! All styles!
Splendid idea bro! Love that you are making the full track yourself instead of just jamming the riffs on guitar only. Makes it so much more appealing and interesting!
Great content idea! When I play my Rabea Carthus through the JHS Bonsai and Buffalo Germ Fuzz or Boss FZ2 into my Friedman BE50 Deluxe I start making those disgusted faces. Get around copyright strikes by recreating tracks, very smart!
That’s the thing with Toska - masters of ambient quiet to sudden gnarly filth. Top track that still makes me grimace with joy is the transition from light to heavy parts on Illumo. Makes snot uncontrollably drip from my nostrils when I play along with this, even today. I kid you not. Can’t imagine what my face is doing when this occurs. Enough said.
1- Chalk Teeth 2- Chasm, the 'breakdown' right before the end of the song 3- Riffs Under The Bonsai Tree 4- the riff for Djent 2020 5- the breakdown from Black Friday Hope to be able to play every single one of these one day. You're my favourite guitarist Bea, and your music is so much inspiring. Cheers mate!
The first time I heard ‘New Level’ by Pantera, I pulled such a strong grimace that it hurt my face. 1994, Ozfest. I was in a Pantera tribute band for 7 years ❤️
Yes!! And the way they go full palm muted, then half-muted, then open strumming with the riff is such simple way to make it more dynamic, but so so sick
1. I'm just gonna say the band Power Trip because they have so many nasty riffs 2. Sleep - Dopesmoker 3. Mars Red Sky - The Collector 4. Tool - Invincible (after the bass solo) 5. Omerta - Lamb of God
Could probably choose 5 pantera tracks that make me make that face. Although demiurge by messhugha definatly gets in there. Amazing sounds on your recreations, did all the artists justice
Wes Borland is such an AMAZING guitarist, I've always lived his style both musically and aesthetically. It was so cool growing up with so many legendary bands, but Wes's playing always stood out in terms of just sheer attitude and heavy groove🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
One of my favorites is a pretty underrated one. "Lucifer's Rocking Chair" by Cancer Bats is such a simple, but filthy riff. I can't help but make the stank face ever time I play it.
My top 5: 5: Animals As Leaders - The Woven Web @ 1:37 4: David Maxim Micic - Bill part III @ 2:14 3: Car Bomb - Fade Out @ 0:06 2: Periphery - Blood Eagle @ intro riff 1: Literally anything Vildjharta. My face hurts after listening to Vildjharta.
Dude! Mad respect you adding the new Limp Bizkit riff here with all of these titans! I didn’t expect the Pantera riff either! Love that you’re playing all of this yourself too! Hope to see some presets on the new QC presets in the cloud 😉 Much love from South Florida ✌️
Just now got around to this… I literally cheered with joy and clapped when you broke out Pantera! Had it cranked on the house system and grimaced with disgusting joy 🤩
Who didn't join in, making their own grimace? You can't help it if you're getting into it. - Chances are you'd air-guitar along with it. Maybe even mimed with your own guitar. Perhaps even played along. - Great stuff, Rabea! Loads o' fun too!
Tigercub has some killer basslines/tones. Props to your buddy! Tom Morello was an inspiration for me to pick up the electric - a treasure trove of bangin’ riffzzz. I don’t know how many times one of his will just pop into my head and I’ve got to go listen to whatever album it’s on ASAP. Revolver and The Wind Below were the two last ones - my daughter just started playing and she did the chicka chick - my son was like “I don’t think you’re supposed to do that” and I said oh no. That’s. A thing. Played The Wind Below. :)
Mate you did well whittling this down to 5 - I ended up doing a riff a day similar to this during one of the UK lockdowns to try and share some beefy riffs with people that might not have heard of some of them. Killer job on these, they sound monster! Top 5 for me currently Chevelle - Humanoid March of the yeti - earth tone 9 (end riff) Helmet - In the meantime Sevendust - Against the world Light of the Morning - Cut and stained Looking forward to the series - hope you revisit this one again with another 5 or so - always down for hearing some stank face riffs
Love this Bea! When the “face” comes out in your playing it’s always BAD-ASS riffage with huge tone! This new series is great looking forward as always to more from you!
super cool concept for a video series! There were some curve ball but ultimately unsurprising riffs in there, but the Meshuggah riff was in my head as soon as i read the title of the video. what a stonking riff! between that and when I discovered Spirit box on your channel, Holy Roller and Demiurge have been my go to gurn riffs of last year.
When you broke into the b riff from I'm Broken i was just pulling filth face and headbanging in my loungeroom while my Mrs is watching TV thinking WTF is up with this idiot. One of the best riffs ever written. Absolutely filthy. BTW your mix made it even more filthy, with the much better tone and fuller sound overall.
Which song not to pick from Meshuggah ? Pineal gland optics chorus ? End riff of Dancers to a discordant system ? End riff of Swarm ? Behind the Sun ? These guys build riffs like you build a freaking bulldozer.
My number one is probably off of that Far Beyond Driven album as well. My personal favorite is 5 Minutes Alone. So heavy with such groove. Can’t get enough of it.
Great vid. Thanks for introducing me to Tigercub. Number one for me would be Limp Bizkit - My Generation - when it gets heavy AF towards the end after the bridge. *Grimace*
Ah yes, time to discover new songs and bands again... Great idea, love it!!! If I'd to pick these, I probably couldn't decide... However, what made me do the faces really bad recently was listening to Vildhjartas new album; it has just so many great and absolutely disgusting riffs, so I can only recommend checking it out!
All these are great but really dig the Limp Bizkit one, steps out of the box by not being the classic “double whatever the guitar is doing with a bass”. That riff shines on it’s one.
I truly enjoy your work sir, these videos will go into my routine inability to not push play when I get a notification. Excellent choices, for sure! Thank you! The chorus riff from Haken - The Architect makes me make the face, every damn time.
Awesome choices. Was not expecting Pantera. I suggest, from more or less the same date in time: Biohazard - Tales from the hard side. Keep’em coming, you legend.
I really hope there will be a part 2 with the same topic/title! Your very own "In the Face of the Nameless" (especially from 1:51) and the "Does It Djent" video are some of the most satisfyingly disgusting things I've heard in my life! So don't be shy, add your own stuff! ;) Otherwise, songs that come to mind for part 2 would be "Blood on the Scribe", "Toxic Garbage Island" and the intros to "Stranded" and "March of the Fire Ants"! \m/
My favorites: Sleepwalker - Tigercub Second Death - Stray From The Path Still Alive - The Ghost Inside The Lines - Beartooth (not super duper heavy but one of my introductions to heavier music and it floored me) Freak on A Leash - Korn
This episode was great! A very different Top 5 than what my Top 5 would look like (probably more Doom and Stoner, with some Monolord or Weedeater in there) but super cool video idea and video series! If I may, I might have a suggestion, what about "Riffs that put you in hyperspace mode", which would be the supper trippy highly psychedelic you-see-the-stars-mooving kind of riff? For instance, Acid King or 13th Floor Elevators :D
Excellent number one choice! The only Pantera riff I personally think is heavier is the breakdown at the end of Domination. It's complete mental. Otherwise, sick choices dude!
Me and my metal-jamsession buddy simply call it "The Rabea face". And we love it! 👌 Focusrite 2i2 + headphone splitter + cantabile + neural dsp = quick jam session heaven! Rabea videos on top and the motivation and inspiration never fades!
My 5 filthy riffs off the cuff (no particular order): 1 - Gardenia from Kyuss 2 - That short riff from Type O Negative - Black No. 1 3 - Any riff from Bleed of Meshuggah ( or any Meshuggah song really) 4 - Vildhjarta - Regnar Bensin ( riff after the breakdown half way through the track 5 - That 2nd riff from Rabea in the Riff Wars
in no particular order, here are mine Killing in the Name - Rage Against the Machine Aggressive Evolution - Loathe The Offering - Sleep Token (final breakdown) Holy Roller - Spiritbox Cops - Needtobreathe (not a heavy band at all but its stanky, blues rocky, and one of the best bass tones ive ever heard in my life)
This top 5 is really relatable ! Espacially the Meshuggah riff, everyone agrees on this one it seems, and it was kind of frustrating when you stopping playing it to be honest ! So, if you guys wanna here some of my favorites (i have no idea how you can pick only 5) : Amenra - .Aorte. Nous sommes du meme sang. (the ending riff, so emotionally charged too) Code Orange - Forever (that intro, damn) Cult of Luna - Finland (the ending) Deftones - My Own Summer Kylesa - Scapegoat Limp Bizkit - Nookie Meshuggah - Dancers to a Discordant System Opeth - Blackwater Park RATM - Bulls on Parade Russian Circles - Youngblood Snarky Puppy - Outlier Soulwax - Is It Always Binary The Dillinger Escape Plan - Good Neighbor The Monks - I Hate You The Psychotic Monks - It's Gone Thundercat - Them Changes Unsane - No Chance Vulfpeck - It Gets Funkier
Damn Rabea, as soon as I read the title of this video, I’m Broken was the riff that immediately came to mind as my #1. Glad to see you got it right as well ;) Keep up the great work!
YES! I totally endorse this idea!!! I love Riffs and you always have good taste in Riffs, you're own as well as your influences! I'd have to say Aggy Bas would have to be in my top 5 for sure, looking forward to seeing what other choice riffs you bring to the table in this series, and hopefully some more of your own!
Totally agree about Koloss! I love all of their music, but that album in particular is just brutal across the board. #1 and #2 for me are a tie, I wouldn’t be able to pick which riff should rate higher for this list
As always, great vid man, looking forward to the next in this series. However I gotta say that Demiurge eeeeasily takes the number one spot for me. Nothing in the world can stop me from pulling down the corners of my mouth and squinting my eyes when that riff drops. Absolute facebaster
Bea….. fantastic choices! Four I knew & loved, and one that I need to investigate (Tigercub). Keep up the great work. You always keep it interesting. 👍
My favourite Pantera album, my favourite Pantera song, my favourite Pantera riff!! I took the limited edition album into school in 1995, played it loud and got detention, totally worth it 🤘
Thanks so much for the positive feedback guys, really happy with how this came out and had a lot of fun doing it! It’s all about sharing cool riffs so I’ll keep em coming! All styles!

Great content idea! When I play my Rabea Carthus through the JHS Bonsai and Buffalo Germ Fuzz or Boss FZ2 into my Friedman BE50 Deluxe I start making those disgusted faces. Get around copyright strikes by recreating tracks, very smart!
Gives you that stank face bro
Nice, grooves that start and end with that stank face.
Fuck yeah. Clutch
Honestly one of the top of my list is Toska's Congress, that opening after the ambient style build up just hits so good.
Yeeeep. M A N Y of his riffs make me make the face.
@@isteve520 that’s one of my favorites :) Probably top three with Abomasum and Congress. Hard to pick though.
1- Chalk Teeth
2- Chasm, the 'breakdown' right before the end of the song
3- Riffs Under The Bonsai Tree
4- the riff for Djent 2020
5- the breakdown from Black Friday
Hope to be able to play every single one of these one day. You're my favourite guitarist Bea, and your music is so much inspiring. Cheers mate!
Perfect number one choice! One of the best riffs ever written by one of the best bands of all time. Pantera 4 life.
1. I'm just gonna say the band Power Trip because they have so many nasty riffs
2. Sleep - Dopesmoker
3. Mars Red Sky - The Collector
4. Tool - Invincible (after the bass solo)
5. Omerta - Lamb of God
Great list! I'm not sure if that would be my Top 5 picks, but some of them would, and all of them are among the Top 10! :D
Grimace with joyful disgust is the perfect encapsulation of all that is heavy... can't wait for more episodes of this series!!
Could probably choose 5 pantera tracks that make me make that face. Although demiurge by messhugha definatly gets in there. Amazing sounds on your recreations, did all the artists justice
Domination would be mine, the tempo change from the solo ending into the breakdown is so good.
"Messenger of fear in sight..." 🤤
Wes Borland is such an AMAZING guitarist, I've always lived his style both musically and aesthetically. It was so cool growing up with so many legendary bands, but Wes's playing always stood out in terms of just sheer attitude and heavy groove🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
One of my favorites is a pretty underrated one. "Lucifer's Rocking Chair" by Cancer Bats is such a simple, but filthy riff. I can't help but make the stank face ever time I play it.
My top 5:
5: Animals As Leaders - The Woven Web @ 1:37
4: David Maxim Micic - Bill part III @ 2:14
3: Car Bomb - Fade Out @ 0:06
2: Periphery - Blood Eagle @ intro riff
1: Literally anything Vildjharta. My face hurts after listening to Vildjharta.
carbomb😤
David maxim micic underrated asf
How awesome that you discovered Pantera in 2006 and some young fella will see this video and discover them in 2022. Ageless riffs
Underrated stank face riff. The outro to boulevard of broken dreams. I've been saying it for years. Great list!
I think that has to be one of Green Day’s heaviest moments
That first riff is tasty!!! Can’t wait to see more in the series! Gotta be some karnivool coming surely!!!
Probably in the 'bass tones that make me grimace with joyful disgust' 🤤
Was literally making that face to the new ffaa album when this notification came up xD
Dude! Mad respect you adding the new Limp Bizkit riff here with all of these titans! I didn’t expect the Pantera riff either! Love that you’re playing all of this yourself too! Hope to see some presets on the new QC presets in the cloud 😉
Much love from South Florida ✌️
Let's goooooo South Florida gang
@@maxalaintwo3578 letss goooo south florida WYA 954

Just now got around to this… I literally cheered with joy and clapped when you broke out Pantera! Had it cranked on the house system and grimaced with disgusting joy 🤩

YES ! Keep then coming please ! I love when you do these videos. Your top 5 most influencial riffs video made me discover karnivool 🤘🏻
Mate you did well whittling this down to 5 - I ended up doing a riff a day similar to this during one of the UK lockdowns to try and share some beefy riffs with people that might not have heard of some of them. Killer job on these, they sound monster!
Top 5 for me currently
Chevelle - Humanoid
March of the yeti - earth tone 9 (end riff)
Helmet - In the meantime
Sevendust - Against the world
Light of the Morning - Cut and stained
Looking forward to the series - hope you revisit this one again with another 5 or so - always down for hearing some stank face riffs
I literally was thinking I'm Broken when I read the title of this video. Killer list.
Love to see some Tigercub on this list. That Sleepwalker riff (along with the B-riff that they play at some points) is an absolute slap in the face.
That is my favorite Messhuggah riff!!! I was so pleased to hear it on the list. Also Audioslave was a pleasant surprise. Thanks for good tunes, Bea!
Love this Bea! When the “face” comes out in your playing it’s always BAD-ASS riffage with huge tone! This new series is great looking forward as always to more from you!
Anyone who gives light to anything Tigercub makes me happy 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Absolutely love that collage of faces at the beginning, especially Devi
super cool concept for a video series!
Seeing the fro flow when you headbang is majestic!

These guys build riffs like you build a freaking bulldozer.
So many Borland riffs give me that face, such an underrated guitarist.
I can't stand Fred Durst but Wes is just made different. He doesn't play like a guitar player which makes him so recognizable.
My number one is probably off of that Far Beyond Driven album as well. My personal favorite is 5 Minutes Alone. So heavy with such groove. Can’t get enough of it.
Yes, Your onto something here brother....the OoO face...lol Great shit bro luv it , that Groovy, funky, crunchy melt ya face off.... \m/
Totemist EP is phenomenal. Really looking forward to the follow-up.
On a different note…. Great seeing happy, healthy and looking fit. We love you Bea.
Great vid. Thanks for introducing me to Tigercub. Number one for me would be Limp Bizkit - My Generation - when it gets heavy AF towards the end after the bridge. *Grimace*
PanterA FTW!! that ending riff is indeed a classic dime riff! headbanging until it hurts!
This was sick!! Can't wait for more episodes!
honestly very impressed with how spot on you got that Dimebag tone dude
Ah yes, time to discover new songs and bands again... Great idea, love it!!!
If I'd to pick these, I probably couldn't decide...
However, what made me do the faces really bad recently was listening to Vildhjartas new album; it has just so many great and absolutely disgusting riffs, so I can only recommend checking it out!
All these are great but really dig the Limp Bizkit one, steps out of the box by not being the classic “double whatever the guitar is doing with a bass”. That riff shines on it’s one.
The "stank face" For me one of the stankiest riffs is "Isolation - Alter Bridge"
Yeah! A lot of Tremonti's riffs are huge face melters 😅🤘🏻
Demiurge was the first tune I thought of when I saw the title of the video. So glad it was on here!
Tigercub is going straight into my bookmarks list.
Meshuggah always, ALWAYS brings out my naughty face! Like the new series dude 🤘
Great alternative choices. Lovely work on the Pantera, it sounded huge! But..... killing in the name of. That's the daddy!
Great list. Love the killer Audioslave showing! Incredible record \m/
Loving the new series! Pantera at #1! Can’t go wrong there! Looking forward to seeing more content like this!
Love this series, brilliant idea. Shows us a bit more Bea while possibly introducing the sub squad to some new tunes. Cheers sir
I really hope there will be a part 2 with the same topic/title! Your very own "In the Face of the Nameless" (especially from 1:51) and the "Does It Djent" video are some of the most satisfyingly disgusting things I've heard in my life! So don't be shy, add your own stuff! ;)
Otherwise, songs that come to mind for part 2 would be "Blood on the Scribe", "Toxic Garbage Island" and the intros to "Stranded" and "March of the Fire Ants"!
\m/
Definitely keep this going, you have great taste in music
That first riff is so clever. Completely chromatic but doesn’t sound it at all 👌🏻
My favorites:
Sleepwalker - Tigercub
Second Death - Stray From The Path
Still Alive - The Ghost Inside
The Lines - Beartooth (not super duper heavy but one of my introductions to heavier music and it floored me)
Freak on A Leash - Korn
I did kinda miss Rammstein in there but man, such filty songs... You truly have earned my subscription.
Man, clearly I’m meant to dig back into Audioslave after you and Josh Scott both brought them up this weekend. Killer video!!
Loads of love for Audioslave, Josh from JHS shouted that album out on the MXR Blue Octave pedal video today
This is Awesone dude, keep doing this. PS: Demiurge definitively number 1 !!
Excellent number one choice! The only Pantera riff I personally think is heavier is the breakdown at the end of Domination. It's complete mental. Otherwise, sick choices dude!
dude... the riff in "when ghengis wakes" around 6:00 is fuggin diiiaaabolicalll!!!
I live this idea for a series! Please share the QC patches!!!
This is a great idea, Bea. An idea for a future video: top 5 riffs that send me to another dimension!
Great list! I love a good stanky heavy riff. The last riff on Ion Dissonance “the surge” turns my face inside out every time I hear it.
Listening to Tigercub now, thanks for putting them on my radar this is brilliant!
Me and my metal-jamsession buddy simply call it "The Rabea face". And we love it! 👌 Focusrite 2i2 + headphone splitter + cantabile + neural dsp = quick jam session heaven! Rabea videos on top and the motivation and inspiration never fades!
My 5 filthy riffs off the cuff (no particular order):
1 - Gardenia from Kyuss
2 - That short riff from Type O Negative - Black No. 1
3 - Any riff from Bleed of Meshuggah ( or any Meshuggah song really)
4 - Vildhjarta - Regnar Bensin ( riff after the breakdown half way through the track
5 - That 2nd riff from Rabea in the Riff Wars
Loved it! For me, well I make that face about 1:11 into Aggy Bas everytime I hear it. Huge.
Brilliant! Is how i didn't know you were a BESSSS drummer. That came from left field. Great job!
We need more of this Bea, Im having withdrawal symptoms dude. C'mon im shivering with unpleasant relish lol

Aggressive Evolution - Loathe
The Offering - Sleep Token (final breakdown)
Holy Roller - Spiritbox
Cops - Needtobreathe (not a heavy band at all but its stanky, blues rocky, and one of the best bass tones ive ever heard in my life)
This top 5 is really relatable ! Espacially the Meshuggah riff, everyone agrees on this one it seems, and it was kind of frustrating when you stopping playing it to be honest !
So, if you guys wanna here some of my favorites (i have no idea how you can pick only 5) :
Amenra - .Aorte. Nous sommes du meme sang. (the ending riff, so emotionally charged too)

Damn Rabea, as soon as I read the title of this video, I’m Broken was the riff that immediately came to mind as my #1. Glad to see you got it right as well ;) Keep up the great work!
Nobody makes me stank-face more than Meshuggah
You know what made me grimace with joy? Your Stormzy intro!
Thanks for showing me Tigercub! Blew my mind.
Wicked! Am gurning with glee in the train on the way to work. People looking at me thinking "weird"🤣 Great way to start the day 👍👍🤘🤘🤘
Loved every single second of this video, great selection, greetings from Mexico!
Totally agree about Koloss! I love all of their music, but that album in particular is just brutal across the board. #1 and #2 for me are a tie, I wouldn’t be able to pick which riff should rate higher for this list
Yes! An old metal head agrees with your top band choices. Gotta admit, need to go check out Tiger Cub… or whatever you said they were.
Man what a name for a video! Great selection of tracks, too!
Mate!! Absolutely SICK video... epic content like always ;)
love this series!!great riffs
YESSS!! Stellar choices and playing Rabea!
Couldn't have picked a better no.1 and love the inclusion of Wes Borland - amazing musician and writer.
Dope AF, instant Stank Face 5 times. Also, never heard of Tigercub before but now I have a new band to go vibe on👌
As always, great vid man, looking forward to the next in this series. However I gotta say that Demiurge eeeeasily takes the number one spot for me. Nothing in the world can stop me from pulling down the corners of my mouth and squinting my eyes when that riff drops. Absolute facebaster
that pinch harmonic at 7:46 was beautiful
Definitely love this content - Love it! Please do as many as you can or until it's not longer fun.
Demiurge isn't a sing, it's a collection of breakdowns that Jens sings over. Great video man!
Bea….. fantastic choices! Four I knew & loved, and one that I need to investigate (Tigercub). Keep up the great work. You always keep it interesting. 👍
So good!
Here's hopin' that you discover some cool riffs from Opeth, as I have done.
Cheers
My favourite Pantera album, my favourite Pantera song, my favourite Pantera riff!! I took the limited edition album into school in 1995, played it loud and got detention, totally worth it 🤘
Great video, love hearing stuff like this and occasionally you find some new music
Dude, please keep these coming! I discovered SpiritBox, Architects and Karnivool through your vids.
Always nice to see Wes Borland get a nod in this kind of list. :)
Aww man, keep this video series coming! So sick 💀
