Outstanding! As a Wound Care Certified RN, I know how long and frustrating it can be for DM foot wounds to improve, much less completely close! How gratifying to see that success!
My son is a type 1 diabetic. He understands his condition .he exercises, watches his diet . And goes to the chiropodist every few months . Up to now he has feeling in his feet . I think it’s because of his understanding of his condition and the fact his diabetes is well controlled .
@@kamrankhan-ud5vd without insulin and not taking care of type 1 diabetes can lead to high blood glucose and can cause problems in the nerves in the feet and legs
That's good. If he can feel in his feet, he should be OK. The sort of ulcers shown here come from the nerve damage, because a major part of our balance system is the kinesthetic feedback of how pressure is applied to the foot, telling your brain how to adjust your ankle and calf muscles to even out the pressure. That system fails when the nerves no longer indicate pressure properly. A person's brain has been "trained" since a very young age how to know what pressure to apply to what side of the foot, via the sensory feedback, and how your walking gait should be. Damaged nerves caused by diabetes throws this sensory messaging into an error state, which causes people with neuropathy to "walk wrong", applying too much pressure on one side or the other... which causes in turn deep calluses and eventually ulcers.
This video alone should be enough so that everyone begin to keep their health in check, check their body fat, weight, and be serious about losing weight and go for a correct diet if needed.
Thank you doc i am from india and i am medical representative in wound care segment , i learnt so much from you about dibetic foot ulcer realy great knowledgeable videos
I am diabetic. I do my best to control my sugars. I am fastidious about checking my feet. I make sure I see my pediatrist regularly. It is so important to take care of the feet!
Great work on healing that ulcer. Patient played her part too. I know the great sense of relief when an ulcer gets healed. I had a similar one in almost the same spot. Thanks to the podiatrists at the Changi Hospital and the team at Sengkang Polyclinic here in Singapore, they got my diabetes in check n the ulcer healed. Thank you to you too Drunk John for the great work you do.
Good job with the Diabetic Ulcer Doc. I just recently had an internship at a Medical Clinic and there’s about 4 maximum patient everyday that has a Diabetic Foot Ulcer. They all have worse case. All of the patient’s foot has abscess.
This is how my diabetic father developed osteomyelitis. We tried various wound treatments but the ulcer would not heal. This led to him losing his leg. Shortly thereafter he lost his life. He could not deal with being an invalid. Take care of yourself and your loved ones. Diabetes is no joke. My daddy suffered a lot before he died. I sure do miss him.
I was born with spina bifida and could walk because there was a company that made my shoes from a mold taken of my feet to remove the weight from the areas of my feet that was weight bearing. No osteo because of my shoes. Unfortunately this company no longer does this type of work. Would you might know of a company that does this type of work. These shoes allowed me to work almost thirty years. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you
No, what he showed is just the beginning of it. I knew a guy who had multiple amputations. He had no legs and was missing fingers. And he was still drinking sugary soft drinks, in his wheel chair, until he died. Aside from cutting off circulation to a person's extremities, it can destroy a person's eyes and their internal organs. It's extremely important to keep diabetes under control and to be checked regularly by a doctor, an eye doctor, and a foot doctor. I'm able to control mine with my diet alone. Which is the best scenario. But failing that, a person needs to work with their doctor to get it under control with medication.
I use to do this for for my late father. He was a diabetic and had neuropathy but his feet weren’t amputated because I stayed on top of his wound care.
Buen trabajo 👍
I have type II diabetes. But I keep mine under control with my diet alone. My A1C is usually in the prediabetic range. This means my risk of complications from diabetes is close to zero. I do, however, monitor the situation closely. I have a diabetic eye examine about once a year and have my toe nails trimmed and my feet checked by a podiatrist specializing in diabetic patients about once every three months. Since I'm diabetic, these things are covered by my insurance. But it's absolutely essential that a person stays on top of these things. A person with diabetes can have no problems with it, like me, or they can go blind and have multiple amputations.
I been bless. I have neuropathy for 12 plus years. Been diabetic for 24 years. I’m doing ok. Amen 🙏.I see my Podiatrist once every month or every other month. A1C 7.0 Great educational video friend. Amen 🙏.

Good lord, I'm glad she healed up. Everytime is see these type videos, I get nervous. I guess it's bc I'm diabetic, also. I didn't really know what or how these ulcers, get started. And in some videos, they look really angry & deep. That's not good. In 2021, I had a friend, who passed away from diabetes. She had had one leg amputated, somewhere b4 the pandemic happened & they were going to remove the other leg, b4 she passed. She was only 60. Next month, on the 5th, she will be gone 2yrs. Can u imagine! It makes me downright angry. Knowing that she died, bc of this disgusting disease. The medical profession, needs to find some kind of cure, for this disease. After retirement, we should be enjoying our best lives! Not keeling over from sugar. Yes, we must control our sugars. But it can be a struggle to keep the A1C, at a 7, or under. And it's not like the taste for something sweet, jumps out of our bodies, after being diagnosed. All we can do is the best we can. And I know I'm not the only angry diabetic, out here. I'm just more vocal abt it.
@@Decgyrrl sorry to hear about your bad experiences!! Hope that you stay healthy!! For those that don’t have genetic diabetes, they can stop and some never get it, by cutting out sugars and carbs. My husband had a similar ulcer that never healed and got infected. He ended up having his leg amputated below the knee. He physically recovered and is able to wear a prosthesis to walk. Mentally he has never gotten over it.
Great seeing your video! I cannot believe you salvaged that ulcer. The toes were pink, but you weren't getting any bleeding. Best wishes we miss your Christmas cakes, Dr H (from down the block)

The cure is to go on a diet because if you eat like garbage you get this. That is the cure. Health is wealth.
