This Prince's Solo Is One Of The Best In Rock History
Вставка

- The 2004 Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame ceremony included a noteworthy lineup of inductees: Jackson Browne, The Dells, Bob Seger, Traffic, ZZ Top, Prince, and posthumously, George Harrison.
During the ceremony, a musical tribute was paid to the Beatles member who had passed away nearly three years earlier. An all-star band, featuring Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, and Harrison’s son, Dhani, along with the newly inducted Prince, performed the Beatles' 1968 hit' While My Guitar Gently Weeps' from the White Album.
As the song unfolded and the artists played their respective parts, Prince launched into a monumental guitar solo lasting almost three minutes, during which he effectively turned the other legendary musicians on stage into his own supporting band, outshining even Harrison’ s son. With his induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame earlier that evening, Prince reaffirmed his status as one of the world’ s most influential musicians.
When you watch the entire clip George's son smiles so wide it shows just how much he respected and was blown away by Prince's solo.
He was the one who convinced his mom to let Prince play the solo as he saw fit. So yeah he instantly knew he made a great choice.
Literally gives me chills every time I watch the video and see Dhani admiring Prince during that moment 🥰
Gives me tears everytime.
I love music of all kinds, but some of it touches your soul. Every time I see this, it brings tears to my eyes. I loved George's music. This was such a tribute! Prince was truly 💜 1 of a kind. Rest in Paradise to both 🙏.
That's why the title is "The Greatest Guitar Solo Ever".
Prince always owned every stage he played on. There will never be another like him. Pure musical genius. You are seriously missed here, sir.
He would have my vote every time hands down you know that old thing Beatles are the stones Prince or Michael Jackson iPic Prince every time
100%
Thank you. Your post is amazing and it git me some teary eyes because I miss his music and yes, he is an amazing musician. ❤

@@billh2947now I love Prince but for sure entertainment and dancing, come on now. MJ is on another level.
Pull this up on UA-cam and watch it it's absolutely the most incredible Prince I've ever seen
Much respect. R.I.H
It’s great but there are so many mind blowing solos of his online just look. He played with great taste. I’m sure there are guys more technically proficient but for me his choice of notes is the best
@@tallmandingo22Nah, bruh, this one left Petty and the rest with their mouths open. Especially after he had been dissed on the solo during the rehearsal.
And drug addict. No wonder he did things like that. He was fuelled artificially
Every know they are playing with high caliber musicians here there is no room place for error and it will be easy to do ypu line and some because your not worrying about any one missing up. So you can let lose.
He was THE underrated guitarist of the 20 and 21 century.
RIP Prince...... keep on jamming, brother.
For casual White music fans who didn't know guitar or to those who didn't know R&B/light rock. What's everybody else Prince has never been underrated
@@JayS64I’m black, but it’s a lot of white people that love / own guitars and love good guitar work. They not feeling R&B music, and I have to agree because most of it is not Good anymore
I think this person was just giving Prince respect as I good guitar player
I'm white but I play a black guitarist on TV. Prince in my opinion hasn't been underrated by any group of people's. He's been cocky since his first interview on AB. If I had his musicianship, wearing women's negligees and having every woman on the planet want to bed him, I damn sure would be cocky. Shoot, I learned that one female wanted to bed me when I played the black guitarist on TV, I got cocky, it backfired because she ultimately found out I was in fact white. With small hands and small feet. She left and there I was, holding the Philadelphia inquirer and a strong desire to have been born black. Just not fair.
@@johnmcaleese8459 WHAT????
Who underrated him?
Prince was fluent in over 20 instruments.
JESUS...I HAD NO, NO, NO FREAKING IDEA OF THIS...

Yes. He was a perfectionist too! I love Prince, I cried so much when this hero of mine died. 😢
Blah blah blah
You know I’ve heard this said many times over the years but never seen any footage to support the claim. Only seen him play keys, guitar, bass, and drums. Like he did on his first album release Ms. Still very impressive but not the large number of instruments that people claim. So far it’s just heresay.

I have never understood why the guitar world never recognized Prince's guitar playing, he not only played that instrument well, he knew how to have it speak in such a way unique and spiritual with iconic melodies and riffs that have transcended generations and placed him in history for ever as a pioneer and pillar to the entire human race.
Calm down
1 guess.....
🤔👮♂️👮♂️Calm down?☕️☕️🐇🐇🐬🐬🐬 🤭😏😌💃🕺💃
He was a master.
I know plenty of metal heads who enjoy and appreciate the way Prince played guitar. He was a musical genius who transcended genres. Cory Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour performed a great live Purple Rain tribute when Prince passed away. It was in front of a Metal crowd and they were all singing along. R.I.P. to one of the best to ever play a 6 string.
In my personal opinion the best cover of all of them ever and never to be repeated
Never heard it. Now I’m going to search for it. Thanks.

My absolute favourite guitar solo. People always talk about who is the greatest guitar player. Prince just says, “hold my beer…..”

In 2007, he had the best Super Bowl performance of all time.
When asked how it felt to be the the greatest guitar player alive, Eric Clapton responded, " I don't know, you have to ask Prince".

Exquisite!
Kind of weird how that comes out as Albert Einstein was once asked, how he felt being the smartest man in the world, he responded by saying, "I don't know, you will have to ask, Nikola Tesla!"
Not even 20 years later 2 of those on stage are no longer with us . R.I.P. Tom Petty and Prince.

Prince was on a different planet that night totally out of this world rip Prince
Ameen. 🎉
Prince is on another level, but it was like a spirit took hold of him and took a good solo, to a boss level legendary status. Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb solo from the Pulse tour was my favorite, but this solo eclipsed it. It gives me chills listening to it. This solo by Prince is emotion on steroids
That was one of many beautiful gifts Prince left behind for all of humanity.
Prince was Prince. Unique. Period. Miss him so much ❤
Prince threw that Tele up without looking and I was floored! True great moment in rock.
It really was great!!
God caught it..
Legend has it, that guitar still hasn't come down
George caught it
That was his thing. He messed up several really nice guitars, that didn't belong to him too lol, over the years doing that.
Dhani Harrison was absolutely delighted by Prince. Look at his face.
I really enjoyed watching Dhani as he watched Prince. His innocence at being amazed was so endearing.☮️
He had one of the best times #ever🎸 posthumously relating to his father🕉️

Was never a fan of prince (not my genre of music) but when I seen this performance I had to tip my hat to him.
He played many genres - take a second look beyond the radio hits😊
And wrote for many artists@@ronclarke8546
The word genius may be bandied around too easily but he was a musical genius, for sure. So talented.
truly one of the greats.
Same for me. I remember seeing this when it happened and all I could think of was “whoa! Why doesn’t he do more of this?!”
“Prince, what can you do with a guitar?”
“Yes”
Priceless!
Yes!!!
“Make doves cry!!” 🙌🏽👏🏽👍🏽👍🏽🤘🏽🫶🏽
If Prince did a guitar solo for me, I'd be flattered.🎸
One of the greatest songs ever come down the road
I love this solo it’s the best ever.
I was reading that a few months before this performance that Rolling Stone did not put Prince in the top 100 guitarist in Rock & Roll History so he wanted to show them he could play. He did.
You know why he didn't deserve it that's about all I agree with when it comes to rolling Stone and it takes a lot more than a three minute guitar solo to say prince was one of the most influencer guitar player of all time
Tell them and say it again @@vincebalosky771
@vincebalosky771 Did someone actually say that he was one of the most "influencer" players? Or even the most influential? I didn't see where this dude said that.
"It takes a lot more than a three-minute guitar solo" etc etc - Are you for real? Apparently you only ever heard his radio hits. Go look around and expose yourself to a bit less superficial take on the music he made.
I don't know about anyone's Top 100 list; I pay no attention to such things. But as a guitarist he was absolutely OUTSTANDING.
Who else was in the list thou? Prince should be in the top 100 for the purple rain solo alone! Prince is underrated as a guitarist which is crazy @vincebalosky771
@@JamesThompson-zk1ht I grew up in the 70s I know great bands and great guitarists outstanding you obviously are too young to remember real guitar players and I don't need to listen to Prince because I never thought he was that good of an artist to begin with outstanding are you kidding me he doesn't deserve to be in the top 100 guitarists and I don't even read rolling Stone magazine anymore cuz they turn woke you obviously don't know music
I’m still amazed when Prince threw his guitar “up into the heavens” and walked offstage after that blistering solo…
Damn, what a Showman!
I actually had the privilege of meeting Prince when I was in Minnesota working with a roofing company putting a metal roof on a parking garage for rich people who had very expensive vehicles in a parking garage condo. @luvmedrums4057 the fact that Prince did all that crazy dancing and playing around the stage in those high heels was wild too. The concert of his that I saw was insane.
I watched that I was in my early thirties. Prince was mind-blowingly incredible
I will always remember that. It was 20 yrs. ago but feels like yesterday. Prince was EPIC on that solo. Everyone was impressed.
The cool thing was George's son gave Prince the nod to keep going
The cooler thing was that Prince asked with a look..
Why do kids of famous musicians/actors think they can command the same respect as their famous parents? That kid was out of his league!!
@@vbrewster4444 first off, it was a tribute to his father, 2nd the kid has chops. Being famous or not famous is it an automatic indication of skill. The people who he is playing with were all friends of his father and they wanted him there and he held his own. Hell he's be playing almost as long as he has been alive.
@@vbrewster4444Nobody can leave up to The Beatles so it's always an unfair comparison. That being said, George's son, Dhani, is a very good and respectable musician in his own right, he definetely does his father proud

I wish I could have been there the show of a life time they are all great Artist 😊😊 RIP dear Prince
I never get tired of watching and listening to this. Prince didn't even practice with them, he stood and listened to them practice and came up with his solo that way.

Still wonder where his guitar goes at the end!
So did I I also remember the late great Tom Petty looked at Prince like wth ya doing cuz they had to keep playing same 🎶 he played well over the time limit and stole the show wasn't very nice due to a tribute to George Harrison but it was Prince he did things his way😂It was awesome ❤❤

not stage hogging amongst friends. And as an inductee, that night he was uniquely qualified to pay tribute to George.
I watched Samantha Fish stage hog Buddy Guy at a show and Buddy said something to the effect of "when shit like this happens I could play all night..."
I think the rest of the band felt that way in 04 too.
I had the pleasure to see Prince in concert when he came to Jackson, MS in 1997. OMG, he was awesome!!! They say "It's not over until the fat lady sings." Best performance of his true raw talent. I love this moment in music time so much
The sad but inevitable passage of time: George Harrison, Prince, Tom Petty
The older we get the bigger the lists gets, it's a shitty fact of being human!!
@DavidPayne-xp9hz I always remember in the early 1990s, a writer from Rolling Stone mag wrote about the death of guitarist Allen Collins from Lynyrd Skynyrd. He said with the new decade of the 1990s, rock fans better get used to their favorite artists starting to die off. They were getting older (in their FIFTIES!), plus many abused themselves with drug lifestyles.
It really made me think- but it never happened! It really wasn't until the past 10 years that we started losing so many of our music heroes.
Prince and Tom Petty both died of accidental OD on fentynal. They both needed hip replacement surgery and were in a lot of pain.
Also, Roy Orbison !
@lotstodo True, and that made their deaths even harder to accept. Both of them should still be with us today, still creating their wonderful music.

That is a legendary solo right there
Prince had that musical swag and aura about himself, truly a once in a lifetime musical prodigy.
I watched that go down and in the past I had seen Tom Petty on stage with Stephen Stills and Tom did a similar thing on a Telecaster while Stills strummed.
I was blown away by Tom's lead playing mostly because I had never seen him cut loose on his own before. He's always strumming and singing and then Prince comes on and those first three notes gave me goosebumps. I was like alright here we go now and he didn't disappoint.
👍👍
Prince did that song justice!
Totally changed my whole way of thinking in regards to Prince. I never realized what a total badass he was until I saw this.
I don’t get emotional when we lose legends, but there’s a couple on that stage and seeing them actually playing off of each other like they’re just jamming with friends is moving. Prince and Petty both paying respects to the one we lost first. All love.
Prince is just prince I was lucky enough to see him in concert worth every penny
And he was just as talented on the piano, among a couple dozen other instruments
He was just a master musician something I didn't know till a few years ago. I was amazed to see how good he truly was.
