While I'm not paralyzed, I do have damage to 13 vertebrae, spread over the entire length of my spine. I can attest to everything Coach Vic said about how exhausting those few minutes are between being in bed and being up and about, especially in the mornings, between the pain killers wearing off and the morning dose taking effect.
And the constant pain is exhausting. The end of a day even doing nothing, always feel like 8 hours of hard work.
Last year I had to stop riding on 2 wheels. This year I finally acknowledged that I will never be back on 2 wheels. Hence my looking at a Can Am.
It is tough. It is very touch riding with injuries and I am hoping that the Can Am makes that easier.
Thanks coaches for the channel generally, but especially for this instalment. Sometimes it is good to know I am not alone.
The struggle is truly real. I see her fight thru it every day. She inspires me to push harder.

It was great seeing Vic on the channel. As someone who has been lucky enough to have not had health issues (apart from feeling almost like I'm getting older every year), I have been used to hopping out of bed in the morning to jump on the treadmill and face the day. Over the last couple of years, however, I find myself feeling what Vic was describing. I wake up and have all the things I want to do that day, but I am comfortable right now. (I have to admit, I'm also walking past the treadmill giving it a sideways glance more days than I want to confess to.)
You go Coach Vic!! Power Women are hidden gems! Looking forward to you Coach Vic giving us your impression of driving the Spyder!!!! God Bless you both!

Coach Vic, I like the short hair. Beautiful lady, inside and out. Coach Bob, I love to ride because, I can, for a short time, not have to think about my ever increasing problems and concerns. Unfortunately, my wife's increasing cognitive decline limit my ability to be gone for any length of time.
Our place in SW Florida is setting, unused this year and I'm probably going to sell it. The stress of getting her and our 8 lb. mutt through airports was overwhelming, so here we are in chilly Illinois for the duration.
Not looking for sympathy, because all I have to do is look around and see those with more problems than I have.
I find solace and hope in your videos and know my faith will carry me through. I also dream of one day being able to meet you both.

Great seeing and hearing from Coach Vic!! You know what? You do you - no explanations needed. Life is full of priorities and risks. I'd say you have your priorities right on track. That said, might I suggest heated vest and pants as an option for those cold days. I'm certain they could be moded to make them velcro around the legs for easy application. BRP should also jump on this and partner with an after market for brakes and a means to mount/dismount the bike for you...imagine the publicity and market BRP could open by highlighting this and Road Warriors in ways they aid the handicap community.
All excellent points...Thank you for these exceptional suggestions. Coach Vic occasionally has been caught commandeering my heated jacket on brisk mornings. I definitely see heated gear in her near future.

Glad to hear all is good. Have you ever thought about doing a short trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It’s nice and slow and relaxing. And in June we are leaving from Ohio to Virginia to Waynesboro where Blue Ridge Parkway starts down to Cherokee NC, planning three days for the trip and then onto Smoky Mountains in Gatlinburg, it’s always a relaxing trip on a bike.
I agree.. This is exactly what we are contemplating. Vic needs a stress free and slow paced trip. This could be just the ticket!!!! Thanks for the great suggestion. 👍👍👍

You are absolutely right. I often worry that Vic feels pressure from me. I try to walk that delicate line responsibility. Showing her that I "want here to go" but don't want to "pressure her to go". I am sure I push to hard at times.

My wife and I, both in our mid-70s, with me loving ryding my Spyder and my wife not wanting to ryde. From 2011 with my first RTS, I've tried to get her to ryde with me to no avail. Her objections are that there she feels too cramped in the rear seat and that her hair would be messed up. To the latter, a helmet would take care of any hair issues. To the first, I had no answer. So after ryding Spyders for 12 years, I still can't convince her to try ryding.
I hope she joins ya soon. If not...and if Vic says she's out. Ya wanna go for a ride? 👍👍👍

Coach Bob thanks for sharing with Coach Vic. I felt her desire is still there but comfortable conditionsj need to be in place. I’d reccomend you put a hand brake on the old white spyder so when she drives you can be with her in the Beginning till she feels comfortable. Bring the trailer so w 32:59 😊hen at lunch you can get the wheel chair and go to lunch or run an errand. Make fun trips. Once. She’s comfortable ride both Spyders with the trailer and do some longer rides to lunch in nearby towns. Oone thing at a time. Ray J Ocala

I have never grasped the curious need to attend rallies or events on the bike. For me it is an activity which has solitude as the greatest gift. I sometimes ride with my wife on the back but less often than riding alone.
The last thing that I want to do is mix with other people. Although to be fair, I do not do that when I am not on the bike either....!!
Everyone should do it the way that they want to do it.

Thanks for this video, it really hit home. Family is so important. We suddenly and unexpectedly lost our 36 year old son, our only child, in November. We adopted him, from Korea, when he was 5 months old. He was a talented musician, Hospital Corpsman, Paramedic, Flight Paramedic and Organ Donor Coordinator, in Washington state. We miss him greatly. I find solace in riding. You mentioned faith, and that is what is carrying us through. He lived out his faith So take care of your family, and I hope you continue sharing your rides with us. Have a great New Year, and continue to cherish and love your family.

Bob, as you know I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis this year, and had back surgery. It got so I couldn’t walk very far before my feet would go numb, then my legs, then my hips, then the burning in my groin… I could sit and I could ride, but little else. The surgeon cut me L1-L5 and cleaned out the bone(s) around the nerve roots. WOW what a difference. NO more neuropathy numbness or pain.! Only thing I’m dealing with six weeks post surgery is back muscle stiffness and soreness where they cut thru muscle.
I hope the road recovery continues to reveal improvement indoor condition. It sounds like the underlying issue is solved...now it's time to recover and start playing again. 👍👍👍. Take your time and know that Vic and I are praying for you buddy!!!! 👍👍👍

Bob, so great to see you and Coach Vic talking about everything. My wife and I are in similar situation, except I am the more limited one. Over the past year or two, I have had to realize that she is also getting older and doesn't have the strength and stamina she once had. I have back issues and walk with a cane and often need her assistance. My Spyder is one of the few places I can go and just enjoy the ride, think, and relax. Even more so than in a car, I am not in pain or feel handicapped. I know I am, but it doesn't matter. I can still get on and off and walk short distances. She does ride with me occasionally and I truly enjoy it. I just bought her a new helmet and an intercom system to improve her experience. I look forward to spending more time with her on and of the Spyder in 2024.
As always, I love your outlook and attitude and wish you and yours the best 2024 possible.

I'm 71 and an avid rider who has very minor aches and pains I never used to have but compared to some it's rather small. My wife will tell me "suck it up butter cup" lol 😂. Heck yes people will want to see you ride Coach Vick. People will also want to hear from you. As a fellow wheelchair user, people always want to know what you can and can't do. Especially when it comes to people new to being a wheelchair user.
I recently passed on a wheelchair rack from my previous Spyder F3S to a guy who was changing from 2 wheels to 3 wheels. His wife is in a chair and she wanted to go with him. He actually spoke to me about you guys and how Vicki going with Bob, had inspired him and his wife to get a Spyder. Every one of those positive stories far outweighs a million negatives.
You guys were the reason I got a trailer to put my chair in so I could tour. Bob jumping in the trailer and giving measurements allowed me to understand that my chair would fit in the trailer. Whatever Vicki chooses to do or not to do on the Spyder going forward, be aware that both of you have inspired many people, and you both have touched the lives of many already. Everything else from here on in should just be fun and enjoyable for you.

Coach Vic. MyHarley motorcycle buddy taught me to ride when you want and you just ride when you can and when you feel like it your ride or you doing right but don’t make a special effort. Just enjoy the ride 😊You ride when you want to and when you don’t want you just stay home, but still be in the videos you’re a Blessing.

Coach Vic, that $1500 will be well spent if you get the opportunity to ride even a few times a year. It will also be beneficial to coach Bob as another way to stop the bike. Whatever you do is right for you. I have a hand brake on mine and I would let you try it out if you guys are ever coming to Marylands eastern shore.
Heck ,I'd love to have a hand brake ,and I don't have a disability. You both have just had those unexpected life events. I only rode 3,900 miles in 23' sadly 😥. Had a lot of " honey do " projects, like building a large deck.
So if director Vic gets her hand controls do you put them on Casper or get her a Spyder of her own? Do you ride pillion? Do you go along on the triple? Who pulls the trailer?
All great questions... I definitely don't wanna do the pillion thing. Although it could make for some pretty funny content. 😂
If we do go the hand brake option. It will be on our Spyder. She's said she isn't gonna do her own machine. So..I am either pillion or it is Triple Time!!! She's pulling the trailer..for sure!!!😂

Hey coach how do you have the go pro mounted on the front of the spyder behind the windshield. Thanks for the help.
On the 2020 and later there is a smooth piece of plastic on the top of the dash. I use a GoPro "suction cup" mount. It holds very well. On my 2019 I use the same mount, but I mount it to the internal wind shield itself. Thanks for watching. 👍👍👍
