As an 8S owner - I looked closely at the Hornet prior to deciding - I can say the build quality on the 8S is clearly better, you need to look at both bikes up close to see though. I think I slight preferred the Hornet engine’s sound and character over the 8S, but that was it. All other aspects of a bike are better on the 8S in my opinion. The only slight niggles I’ve noticed as an owner so far - occasionally when going from using the quick shifter, (which is fantastic and faultless), to using the clutch, the biting point goes vague initially for the first couple of gear changes, (after which it’s fine). And the price of the official Suzuki crash protection is upwards of £500 which I think is ridiculous. But other than that, it’s been a peach of a bike over the last couple of months and I’d happily recommend it to anyone in the market for this type of motorcycle.
I agree on build quality of the hornet. I studied one closely and wasn't impressed, it looks built down to price. Especially the swing arm and frame, look really cheap and I wonder how long it'll stay looking fresh before corrosion sets in. I know someone who had a frame go rusty around the welds on an Africa Twin, and have seen others with rusty frames and they're not cheap Hondas.
@@Rmat7 Agreed. How fast a motorcycle is not all important. However, the naked middleweight section is considered as sport bikes. So it is a factor. I like the Suzuki 8s as it rides like a bigger bike. It reminded very much of my Z900 in ride quality and the handling but with less 000mpth. It’s just my opinion, but I prefer the KTM 790 which I have owned, or the Hornet. They feel quicker and change direction sharper. In my opinion. Just clocked up 1500 happy miles so far.
I bought one last month. I have just over 2000 miles on it and I absolutely love it. I'm in the US so don't have access to the Hornet. I also was a little leery about KTM vs Suzuki reliability especially one made in China. I downsized from a Vstrom 1000 and the GSX-8S with the weight difference does not feel down on power at all. I live in the mountains in West Virginia and it handles the twisties like a dream. Also on a side note the US model comes with LED turn indicators. Love the channel by the way but I do have to stop to convert all your numbers from metric but thats easy enough.
I’ve owned my 8s for 1 month done 700 miles so far Iam 56 years been off bikes for 15 years my last bike was a 2007 r6 I love this Suzuki great bike for the road plenty of low down grunt for safe over taking my days of doing over 100 mph on the road are long gone
I totally agree. The MT07 was the bike to reboot Yamaha almost 10 years ago. I'm hoping the 8S has the same effect for Suzuki in 2023 onwards! There's a lot to be said about the planted feel of Suzukis for real riders that don't have the ability or confidence of a journalist or racer.
Great review again!! Rode the Hornet and the 8S back to back a month ago! took the 8S in for its first service last week !!!! I felt the torque, quality and looks beat the Hornet hands down. as to price, if you spec the Hornet with the quick shifter(£260 ish) and the 3rd year warranty, £250 ish ) which the Suzuki has as standard theres not such a big difference. and with the Suzuki, if you get it serviced every year they will give you, FOC, another years manufacturers full warranty each year up to 7 years. no one else does that I think?
Your reviews keep getting better and better MotoBob. Keep it up. 👍 You cover aspects of the bike that the potential buyer in the street REALLY want to know, rather than just spec sheet stuff and general waffle. Very concise and to the point. Bravo buddy 🌟
@MotoBob I’ve been waiting for your review of this fantastic motorcycle 🙌 You’ve nailed every detail & aspect of the 8S!👌 Planted, well styled, a great torquey engine, just perfect for any road. I reckon I’m your height but slightly heavier & I find the suspension absolutely perfect. I love the firmness & planted feeling. Yeah, it’s pricey but damn Suzuki just created a fantastic machine. Great stuff🤙
I think its possibly 'underated' in the eyes of UA-cam because theres not been nowhere near the same amount as content as the Hornet or even the KTM 790. But on the road I've seen the same amount and I bet they're all selling well. MCN also just gave the GSX-8S "naked bike of the year".. I bought a Hornet and I absolutely love it. I am certain that I'd love the GSX-8S if I rode one too, but the Hornet was test rideable at the time, it felt perfect for my 5ft 10" height and the price was just a little bit cheaper, which at that "budget" price made enough difference to me.
I have the 2023 in Cosmic Blue Pearl. I love it! The aftermarket parts are starting to come out too. I get a lot of compliments on it at bike nights and at bike taverns, etc. really cool bike! I am 5’11”, 130lbs and the bike fits me very well. It is a bit heavier than I would like, but that is my only real complaint. Another annoyance is that you can only clear the maintenance required notices if you have a Suzuki electronic tool thingy so I have to pay $40 just for the dealer to clear the maint light since I do the maintenance myself. I added the handlebar balancers, a windscreen, and a few other extras and love this bike.
brakes appropriate???? the gsx8s brakes are simply amazing and that was not only my opinion but all the riders that tested this bike the same day as i did had exactly the same opinion. I didnt find a single thing this bike wasn't good at honestly, only wish it had the design of the sv650.
New brakes aren't tenacious until properly bedded and heat-cycled. A journalist should know this. Also a simple pad-swap to something more aggressive makes a big difference.
Suzuki always has the most underrated bike in a class because the spec sheet stuff on paper doesn't = real world results and btw Suzuki's incredible durability which is up there with the absolute top is a big factor that should be considered. Suzuki dominates endurance racing where speed and durability are factors. The KTM 790 isn't going to lay down 100k miles with ordinary maintenance like a Suzuki bike will. Moto media typically rags on Suzuki for lower amounts of updates and etc but this thing is actually loaded for the class and price it's even got a quick shifter lol
build quality and engine performance always great from Suzuki. big question is, why they sell less bike than honda, yamaha even maybe kawasaki ? I ride Suzuki btw
Honda has their rep on lock with dependability. Yam is seen as pretty much "as good" as Honda but maybe a bit more exciting. Suzuki and Kawasaki just haven't been very innovative or exciting in the last however many years. The last time anyone was really excited about Kawi was 2003 with the ZX6R and Suzuki maybe 2005 with the K5 Gsxr1000.
Great video! I just bought this bike today and mine came with LED turn signals. I'm in the USA, so this is strange to me since we usually get stuck with the standard bulb signals.
@@calculatorade This model is currently available here in the US but we don't get the Hornet which some consider to be a competitor in other parts of the world.
Thanks for the review. I once owned the forerunner to this the GSR600/ 4 . A wonderful four cylinder powerplant that revved to 14,000rpm. Was a delightful ride thru a set of mountain twists and sounded awesome with 4 pipes exiting under tailpiece. Yes and at the time I put a S after the 600 label on the tailpiece cause I customised it just a little. Wish I had not traded it.
2024 Suzuki GSX 8S changes! I was just checking something on the US Suzuki site and noticed it now reflects 2024 new color options and a price increase. All blue still available, Black now has blue wheels/sub-frame/8s wing graphic, White is replaced by Gray with Gray wheels, and $150 USD increase in retail. Since we don't yet get the Hornet in the US I'm wondering if its appearance and price will change too?
Just went and had a look. Blue was my fave already but the black on black had some appeal. The white not so much. The 2024 colours don't change my mind, it is still blue. The Grey is kinda cool but I think the black with blue wheels is a backward step - the all-black looked better.
Two years ago I did a lot of test driving and I settled on the Trident. Everything fell into place with the 660 and I don't think that I will swap for another one soon. I am going to drive the Hornet and the GSX-8S, but knowing my Trident I don't think they will be better. The Triumph is good for all sort of drives, very long (+700km) with baggage or country roads or city it dose not matter for him. Not that I have a lack of bikes with almost ten to choose from.
750 class isn't the same as the 650-690 class. Torque figures are much greater. Cost is different. Suspension is different. Equipment is often different. The 650-690 class is held to a budget, outside the Aprilia Tuono.
As usual, a useful review. But, I’ve looked around and can’t really find anyone “underrating” the 8S; if anything, it’s quite the opposite - great reviews. For marketing purposes, should Suzuki offer up this model in pipe ‘n slippers “retro” garb; spoked heels, analogue looking clocks, round headlight, origami-less body work? What Ford did simply recasting their Explorer into a “Bronco” exposes a demographic ready and willing to exchange dollars for just sniff of nostalgia!
I'm glad to see that the 800cc is coming back, and better! I hardly believe this is the real thing for a real world naked bike, with lots of engine, chassis, suspension and brakes over the under 700cc class. They're still far from coming to Brazil, unfortunately. Till there, I'll keep riding my still mint 2012 BMW F800R, the pioneer of this 800cc parallel twin amazing recipe, with a premium touch and very well balanced overall formula - next to the top and much more expensive to buy and maintain super naked class bikes.
I'm not sure you can conclude the ride feel on the Hornet is "low-back" compared to the Suzuki just by looking at seat height. Ride height, rake, trail, fork length, and swingarm length would all be contributing factors...
As nice as the 8S is it is not as nice as the discontinued GSX-S 750. The funny thing is You can still pick one up from the dealer. And all it needed was an up and down quickshifter and the new TFT display to replace the LCD one. I think You should do a compere video! What is better a parallel twin or a good old straight four :)
I was actually looking at both last week and i ended up with the GSX8S. The 8S just has way more low and mid end grunt that I just love and where I’ll be riding it most of the time. Also LED lights is an must, quick shifter and throttle by wire won me over. I was spoiled by the electronics from owning an MT-09 so I didn’t wanna go back in tech. (Already got an W800 with no tech for an more raw experience) Also I really really missed my MT-07 and the lovely sound of an 270 degree crank, and this fits that perfectly. So far the bike is perfect for me and now I’m just waiting for aftermarket parts to come in stock. Can’t wait to get an full exhaust for it and integrated tail light.
@@ronmcclain6608 That’s an absolute nonsense that PR managers are spreading so people buy the inferior twins… The 750 has about the same torque in the same revs as the 8s, yet it just doesn’t die out as the twin. I can ride my 750 in 6th gear all day long…
Nice vid. I couldn't agree more. I really like it. It's not perfect by any means but as an all round package in this segment, it seems like a very good proposition. Also with a full system & mapping I bet it's even more of a hoot to ride. Also prefer Suzuki's low tech approach. It's high on my list for a potential purchase next spring. Just can't get excited by the Hornet's bland looks unfortunately as it's a good bike & amazing value.
A full system and map is going to open that thing up no question. Suzuki just stays with tried and true stuff and the bikes have no issue's ever... even high miles and they perform right with the competition in real world riding, sometmes much better depending on model. This blows an MT07 away.
Im torn between this the hornet and the cbr-650 at the moment. I love the looks of the 8s, but would love to see more add-ons for it, particularly luggage option or ideally a topbox, but i guess that would spoil the looks..🤔
I really fancy an 8s, but I'm 63 and test passed in 78, I'm thinking I'm being over ambitious, at my age. I want light, fun, fast, economical for Sussex roads and good to ride around town, so I think a Z400.
TBH it sounded like you were making excuses for everything from the performance to the handling and stopping to the looks and tech, from where I'm standing both the Triumph and the KTM would be better bikes for the same money, and the Honda is as good or better for less money, just my opinion though.
I cannot help shake the feeling everyone is just thinking they need to encourage Suzuki to stick around. I got the impression from the racing perspective that everyone thought they were going to be leaving the market...
@loztagain8278 yeah bc suzuki decided to lay low, then they've released the gsxs1000gt and the gsx8s, people love suzuki but suzuki just now making a comeback and I love it
Here is what it sounds like to me. More reliable than ktm and triumph. Best warranty period. (The others aren't even close and the warranty and quickshift makes up for the difference in price between the honda.) Made in japan while the others are made third world or emerging market slave labor. The build quality is way better than the honda hornet. The power is more than most anyone can fully use on road. The motor lugs all the way down to 3k and you can still pullgood in gears 1-4 down there. The TFT layout looks best and the user interface is simple and easy. The road manners handling and ride is nuetral but firm enuff to ride hard. and fueling is butter smooth. This bike is better than the others. if u ask me , your spewing bullocks just because your obsessed with Hp numbers at the top where you'll never spend much time anyways. Change the tires when ready to a sportier profile if u want it to handle side to side faster..and possibly a better rear shock....full arrow with a flash and its the best middle naked on the market
@@alphacapo Having sat on both the hornet and gxs8s and had a look around and a muck about, I personally didn't see this build quality magic, other than honda still us a naff swing arm, and tbh I think the white an blue Suzi looks best. I ended up ordering the lighter bike due to a situation with how I store the bike where I push it round a corner and lock it up. As that area is grass, and slightly up hill, i had to think about the bike weight and the potential I slip over. Pushing a Suzuki sv650 around that corner is already I think close to the limit (my current bike) and I could feel that the 8s is heavier than the hornet. It was quite noticeable to me, and the hornet felt like moving my old 125 around. I also preferred the quick tip in of the 160 rear which is like my current Suzi. I was kinda hoping the Suzi would be the one tbh, but it wasn't. I guess the funny thing for me is if money was no object I'd probably buy a Ducati monster. And if I didn't have the situation in my garden and weight wasn't an issue, I'd probably want to try a tracer 9... so I've got tastes all over the place
I really like this bike. Saw one in Germany the other day, with barend mirrors, small led indicators and a tailtidy, a proper one where the rear light is up under the rear seat...looked more of a wasp than the Hornet! Really tempting. So tempting I took one for a spin. I must say, the only thing I did not like was rear suspension. Way too nervous when giving it the beans. Other than that, really good bike. Better than the Hornet imo. The MT07 is a rocking chair. I've had one. Lovely engine though. So this or the Duke 790? Yes. One of them. Thank you mr Bob!
@@alejandrog553 Well, I ended up with a new 2020 790 Duke. But back to the Suzuki. For me, that bike feels more, well how should I put it? More like a keeper. Looks better, fantastic low down grount, lovely quickshifter, a bit bigger, more planted. The Hornet, GSX-8S and the Duke 790 is at more or less, the same pricelevel here in DK: So I went with the KTM which I have very good experiences with. Give them all a good testride. Have fun!
What annoys me, is that Honda refuses to say if we're getting the new Hornet in the USA or not, and that Kawasaki doesn't seem to be making anything of their own to compete. Hell, id be happy if they just beefed up the Z650, since the Z900 is more related to hyper-nakeds than what the 8S is trying to be. I just want something better to compare the 8S to other than an SV650, since Suzuki doesn't want to give that bike anything else, since they're likely going to retire it with the 8S as it's true replacement next year.
I bought a 24 8S. The bike is very nice, powerful, stable, balanced, and smooth until you run steady down the highway around 70-75 mph, then it becomes a vibrating nightmare. I will get rid of mine, based on that trait alone.
I dont mind it as an additional in the middleweight category, but i wished they didnt pull the plug on the sv650 or their 650 vtwin models, it was an iconic bike for suzuki that all it needs is the tech upgrade and it could last another decade.
A tough decision I believe could only be made after a test ride. I’ve owned several Suzukis and the same number of Hondas- never had a problem with spares or reliability with either brands
All the talk about power or lack of it. Overlay the Hornet 750 on a dyno graph and I bet the Suzuki cranks out more power and torque everywhere below the Honda's peak. All the talk about weight. Solidity, poise, not getting blown around the road behind trucks and cross winds, and for peak sake, why is 450 pounds heavy? Are kids bulking up their muscles on Fruit Loops cereal?
can we please get a review on the ruroc helmet you're wearing? i'd love to learn your thoughts on it since you're wearing it quite often. dont worry about ruroc not being happy about your review you should be able to speak your mind.
795mm is just perfect, I'm sick of you guys that think all production bike need to suit your build, what about the 16% of market that's left hanging because of seat hight. Don't question a manufacturer for trying to accommodate a larger market. And as far as your apionion be a little more open and consideration would be appreciated.
I really wish dealers in my area would offer test rides but no. The last few bikes I bought were purchased without even having sat on one first. I have been very disappointed a couple of times as you might expect. Now, I'm really reluctant to buy another bike even though I am very interested in the new Suzuki. I'd probably love it but am I willing to gamble on it? If I don't like it I would expect the dealer to offer me about 50% of what I pay for it to buy it back.
Awesome review as always! I'm about to buy my first bike. Would it be moronic to buy the SV650 instead of the GSX-8S? They cost almost the same, and I suppose the new bike is a much better bike. However, the SV650 is a classic, looks super cool and got a V-Twin. What do you think? Thanks!
Sounds like the engine could be in a mild state of tune? Maybe a reflash and air filter change could coax a decent amount of increase say to that 90 - 95 hp brake hp level? I mean if Trident can get 128 hp out of their 765 Moto model with different timing and fueling - a reflash right, of the ECU over the R model? Then, along with a muffler changeout - not full system, looks like perfect set up for a slip on. The Honda Hornet stock muffler is fantastic sounding Suzuki definitely missed that on their new 800.
I'm sure it's great but with the Honda and the Yamaha so much cheaper it's a hard sale. Especially since the Suzuki is nearing BMW F900 prices. I think I'd get the Honda or the Beemer depending on my budget.
Yamaha doesn't have an equivalent. The 650-690 class is NOT equivalent unless you're talking about the expensive premium Tuono 660. The 750 class here (in Suzuki's case a 776cc), is running USD forks, radial brakes, TFT, power modes, traction control, throttle by wire, bidirectional quickshifter, and premium fit/finish. Not to mention both a lot more power and torque. Yamaha jumps the 750 class straight to the 900cc class.
@@exothermal.sprocket well rumours are abound that the honda will be 8k not 7k next year. Possibly the MT07 stays below 8k, and that's basically problem solved as far as Yamaha are concerned. I've actually ordered a Hornet myself, but if it was 8k, i'd probably just stuck to second hand, and bought something else.
Great review Motobob. Really enjoyed. I love the GSX S750 and they are now cheap where I live. Amazing sound with a slip on and more top end power. Great build. Hard decision for me but in the end I think I will go for the easy torque and modern feel of the 8 S. Thoughts anyone? Motobob. Would you prefer an 8S or Hornet on your garage??
Yes. You have to wait for the revs to build or drop a cog. The 8s is the opposite. However the S750 has great pull quite quickly as the revs build, more top end and an awesome sound. Also corners well and feels lighter than it is around town. Almost bought one twice. Enjoy!!!!
As a new rider (35yo) who has just passed, getting test rides is a pain in the fucking arse. And no one lets you test ride used. I dont wanna drive 40mins to test ride a brand new bike to then buy a used one that feels completely different.
I had 7 grand to spend on a new budget middle weight so bought the hornet and love it The Hornet shouldn't be compared to this its a grand cheaper which is a lot at this price but it should be compared to the new CFMOTO Nk which is the same price.
KTM vs Suzuki.. Chinese made KTM vs Japanese Made. KTM Reliability vs Suzuki reliability. Heard Suzuki dealer maintenance extension warranty is like 7 years?
Suzuki did it again bang for the buc The Honda Hornet may have more hrp and a lower price but is to generic. Keep on bring these fantastic videos I am trying to decide between and Indian FTR S, Suzuki GSX 8 or a GSXS 1000.
The KTM790 if far superior then the competition, then the Honda Hornet is just quicker, in a straight line, around the twisties and around town. Not saying the Suzuki it’s a bad bike, it just not a segment leader. The casings and pipes around the engine could have been better thought out
Why can’t Suzuki have all these new features like the tft display, quick shifter up and down, abs, slipper clutch assist, etc. on the gsxr 600 and gsxr 750 especially 2023 & 2024 models?!! 😭
You get to see the GSX 8R they dropped at EICMA? It’s a pretty sweet rig to be honest, ergonomics like a Ninja 650, just more power and more tech in Suzuki’s package.
i live in Switzerland and the GSX-8S is nearly 2000$ more expensive than the Hornet. Furthermore the Honda has 4 years warranty and the Suzuki only 2. So the sales figures are very low and the Honda is number one.

Low RPM assist is absurdly good on new Suzukis. You can apparently filter quite easily.
Low RPM assist is underrated. Just makes the whole thing like butter.
Your reviews keep getting better and better MotoBob. Keep it up. 👍
You cover aspects of the bike that the potential buyer in the street REALLY want to know, rather than just spec sheet stuff and general waffle.
Non-existent marketing…
Honda has their rep on lock with dependability. Yam is seen as pretty much "as good" as Honda but maybe a bit more exciting. Suzuki and Kawasaki just haven't been very innovative or exciting in the last however many years. The last time anyone was really excited about Kawi was 2003 with the ZX6R and Suzuki maybe 2005 with the K5 Gsxr1000.
Great video! I just bought this bike today and mine came with LED turn signals. I'm in the USA, so this is strange to me since we usually get stuck with the standard bulb signals.
Did you sell the ktm? Looking forward to your opinion on this one also. I think this video is correct in saying it’s not all about specs.
How did you buy this in USA???
@@calculatorade This model is currently available here in the US but we don't get the Hornet which some consider to be a competitor in other parts of the world.
@@bsalvis Yes, KTM was replaced with the 8S. More to come soon 😀
@@calculatorade I was very lucky to have stopped into a dealership just as they were rolling this onto the sales floor.
Is it underrated ? Most of the reviews I've seen have been very good
it won bike of the year in a naked category for MCN as well, so it's hardly underrated, as you are alluding.
2,500 km on this thing now! I love it! Its a very responsive bike and cutting corners is so much fun! Thanks Suzuki
I’m a Suzuki fan since the 70s , trial , trail and road had them all , always reliable with the smoothest of gearboxes .
Saw these as well. I didn't like the blue on the black bike it just didn't look right... but the grey looks great!
All-black schemes are always going to be offered, but boy are they dull and colorless.
Now that I've seen all the 23 and 24 color options I'd say that like an attractive woman the GSX 8S looks good no matter how she's made up.
I'm holding out for a retro styled Honda with the new 750 configuration.
If we can squeeze 90 HP out on a dyno with a few mods it'll be enough for me.
Well, not just looking at it, Bob has ridden both.
@@ewganhoff Yes he rode both and he feels the gsx-8s has better tip-in. But I'm saying he doesn't know why, which is totally different.
Great review, thank you, off to test ride one tomorrow, im 58, 6ft 2 and knocking 100kg, ill report back!
As V-Strom 650 owner for 17 year, I want something more nimble. I don't actually ride on dirt anyway. Can't wait to test drive the 8R.
The quality of this review was exceptional. Thank you.
(Already got an W800 with no tech for an more raw experience)
Also I really really missed my MT-07 and the lovely sound of an 270 degree crank, and this fits that perfectly.
So far the bike is perfect for me and now I’m just waiting for aftermarket parts to come in stock. Can’t wait to get an full exhaust for it and integrated tail light.
Unless you want pure top end the GSX-8S has more usable power.
@@ronmcclain6608 That’s an absolute nonsense that PR managers are spreading so people buy the inferior twins… The 750 has about the same torque in the same revs as the 8s, yet it just doesn’t die out as the twin. I can ride my 750 in 6th gear all day long…
@@HifeMan Big mistake bro, 750 makes about the same torque at the same revs and has top end on top of it + the godly sound…
No bike in this class needs a quickshifter…
Get the inline 4 while you can. Way better than any of the P2s…
Great review, though i wish you testers would mention pillion accommodation
I guess with this segment 2-up riding is really only expected to be a once-in-a-while thing, and not that important.
test rode the hornet 790 duke and this. i like this best even tho i expected to like the ktm best. surprised me a bit
@loztagain8278 yeah bc suzuki decided to lay low, then they've released the gsxs1000gt and the gsx8s, people love suzuki but suzuki just now making a comeback and I love it
suzuki has the feel of triumph, the punch of ktm and the machinery of honda without the excessive weight it has to carry
Here is what it sounds like to me.
More reliable than ktm and triumph. Best warranty period. (The others aren't even close and the warranty and quickshift makes up for the difference in price between the honda.)
Made in japan while the others are made third world or emerging market slave labor.
As a honda fanboy, thos suzuki is way better than the new hornet, Honda hornet is a disappointment
They're pretty comparable.
What is a Horner ??
Can somebody tell me what a horner is?
Was waiting on you to drop a review !!
8:29 Pretty soon people are gonna want apple bike play, netflix and spotify on their TFT screens...
Personally i prefer the Honda Hornet but each to their own✌😎
Gotta wind it up more....
Hello, why you think its better than Hornet?
@@alejandrog553 Well, I ended up with a new 2020 790 Duke. But back to the Suzuki. For me, that bike feels more, well how should I put it? More like a keeper. Looks better, fantastic low down grount, lovely quickshifter, a bit bigger, more planted.
The Hornet, GSX-8S and the Duke 790 is at more or less, the same pricelevel here in DK: So I went with the KTM which I have very good experiences with.
Give them all a good testride. Have fun!
Nice review, I have seen some cases of honda motorcycles taking their unlucky riders to the ground due to uncontrollable front wheel shimmying.
Looked at one today. I was very impressed. How much movement do you think dealers have on this bike? What would be a good price to pay?
Have to disagree on the seat hight part, as a small woman I appreciate it when a bike is built low and slim so even I can put a foot down
What annoys me, is that Honda refuses to say if we're getting the new Hornet in the USA or not, and that Kawasaki doesn't seem to be making anything of their own to compete.
I love the styling of this bike. But oh what a competitive market.
I will say im 6'5 and this was the only naked bike that I felt fit me. So dont be too worried about it being small
Hi Bob could you tell me if you have ridden the Suzuki gsx 1000 what is the thought on it and would you recommend to buy it please advice .
They haven't pulled the plug on the SV or DL 650 bikes, at least in the UK. They will probably still be available for another 10 years!
It's not that hard to jump on Suzuki's website and verify things.
I'm picking mine up on Saturday 2.11 💪
Would like to see it with top box, pannier racket and bags plus 2 up riding.
Can this be turned into a real commuter
can we please get a review on the ruroc helmet you're wearing? i'd love to learn your thoughts on it since you're wearing it quite often. dont worry about ruroc not being happy about your review you should be able to speak your mind.
Great video. Does anyone know what helmet that was that he was wearing in the vid?
hey motobob how would you say the trident 660 compares to the gsx-8s ?
Excellent review/study guide!!
Good video I like Suzuki’s this is a excellent update to their line up.
You mentioned the tank but, not the fuel capacity. Do you know?
I like this and the Trident best.
Every. Single. New. Motorcycle.
They are all restricted with the sock-stuffed-into-the-intake Euro5 garbage.
The sound in Suzuki gets better and louder when you Drive 2k or 3k kilometers
I'm sure it's great but with the Honda and the Yamaha so much cheaper it's a hard sale. Especially since the Suzuki is nearing BMW F900 prices. I think I'd get the Honda or the Beemer depending on my budget.
i think the hornet price will be rising. i don't want to say it's a loss leader, but it looks close ...
@@loztagain8278 Honestly not really sure how Honda managed to release the Hornet at lower cost than the MT-07. But that could change quickly.
@Motobob what is your helmet please ? thanks !
Are CFMOTO 800NK better value ?, It use same engine as ktm 790
Great review Motobob. Really enjoyed. I love the GSX S750 and they are now cheap where I live. Amazing sound with a slip on and more top end power. Great build. Hard decision for me but in the end I think I will go for the easy torque and modern feel of the 8 S. Thoughts anyone?
Motobob. Would you prefer an 8S or Hornet on your garage??
Got the GSX S750, wanted to go faster on the straights. Will say its low end torque is lacking though
Yes. You have to wait for the revs to build or drop a cog. The 8s is the opposite. However the S750 has great pull quite quickly as the revs build, more top end and an awesome sound. Also corners well and feels lighter than it is around town. Almost bought one twice. Enjoy!!!!
Excuse me but who states fuel consumption in km/l? What kind of american unit is that?
As a new rider (35yo) who has just passed, getting test rides is a pain in the fucking arse. And no one lets you test ride used. I dont wanna drive 40mins to test ride a brand new bike to then buy a used one that feels completely different.
Main problem is weight. 220 kg wet is too much for mid weight naked motorbikes. All other aspects is great bike.
Of course suzuki is more reliable than ktm..
How much this bike go for ?
I'd like to hear one with after market exhaust.
What helmet is he wearing?
Suzuki for me🏁
I heard the new gsxr 8r is going to be coming from this bike 2 cylinder sport bike to compete with the R7
Suzuki did it again bang for the buc
The Honda Hornet may have more hrp and a lower price but is to generic. Keep on bring these fantastic videos I am trying to decide between and Indian FTR S, Suzuki GSX 8 or a GSXS 1000.
That's a big horsepower mish-mash.
The KTM790 if far superior then the competition, then the Honda Hornet is just quicker, in a straight line, around the twisties and around town. Not saying the Suzuki it’s a bad bike, it just not a segment leader. The casings and pipes around the engine could have been better thought out
Im not a suzuki fan but this new styling is hot
Why can’t Suzuki have all these new features like the tft display, quick shifter up and down, abs, slipper clutch assist, etc. on the gsxr 600 and gsxr 750 especially 2023 & 2024 models?!! 😭
I hope suzuki can make a touring version of this platform, the strom is too off roady for me
You get to see the GSX 8R they dropped at EICMA? It’s a pretty sweet rig to be honest, ergonomics like a Ninja 650, just more power and more tech in Suzuki’s package.
The KTM 790 Duke is now on offer at £6,999 everywhere which makes it a no brainer IMO.
It's ugly and looks like enduro. And it's KTM not Suzuki. Less refined.
And it's made in China too, if you're not keen on that.
Don't be a fool get the 890r
Really not sure which is my favourite (R9), so hard to decide (R9), so many choices (R9)...
i live in Switzerland and the GSX-8S is nearly 2000$ more expensive than the Hornet. Furthermore the Honda has 4 years warranty and the Suzuki only 2. So the sales figures are very low and the Honda is number one.
Why is it that most motorcycles reviews come from GB??? I wanted a Hornet after seeing the reviews BUT then I found they don’t sell them on the American continent. 😡🤬🤯
Gotta say I don't like it in that colour scheme though. They could do so much better on the colours IMO.
I want cruise control and retro-ish looks, so there's no reason for me to get rid of my sv650 for this bike.
Same for me. Zero I prefer about this over the SV, except maybe the seat height.
I prefer the looks of the SV650 over these new bikes, I have a 2004 Honda 919 (Hornet) … I was contemplating do I go out and buy a new year SV 650?? Or a 2021. (Save $) also, do you guys have the model with fairing or naked ?
@@luvsallbikes279i have a naked 2004 model in black. Amazing bike for my needs, only wish it had abs and slightly better brakes and suspension but for 2550eur i couldnt ask for more
@@luvsallbikes279 Faired model was out of stock, so I got the unfaired 2020 SV. Glad I did: the bars on the faired model are a bit too low. My idea was to keep the SV for 5 y and sell it, but I reckon I'll keep it longer: such a great bike for the city. 2020- 2023 should all be the same, except maybe for the paint. Expect ridiculous fuel economy: I have no idea how they can make a bike run on so little fuel
But there is a reason you should ride everything you can ride, for the sake of riding and experience.
Its far better than anything kawasaki or honda are offering

Inline 4 all the way! Gsxs1000 instead of this tiny twin! This will never pull sound or fly like the big brother. Nice review btw
Or the 750 it’s replacing and it’s inferior to…
The engine is heavly restricted, do a remap and it will wake the engine up👌
Beautiful bike
For me, Suzuki has always had better finish than Honda since 2017...
