      @@simonbowen6653 Electric tech is cheap and trickles down from bikes made a few years ago. The Chinese are not ‘coming’ , they’re here and have been for years. You don’t see them much because after two years they’re junk. Triumph have to price and compete with the the Yamaha mt07 and the Honda hornet which are both excellent bikes. The Street triple has had similar minimal cost increases over the years which makes them remarkably good value.

      Not at all the Chinese plays in a completely different price bracket. Instead what I think is Triumph seeing the Japanese big 4 got sloppy and left a hole in several segments and they can take the Japanese head on at their price point while offering more tech and European made flair. Look at the Daytona 660 - it competes directly with the Honda CBR650R. The Speed 400 eats the GB350 for breakfast etc. What's are the offerings sports nakid from the Japanese big 4 in the middle class engine range? MT-07, Z650, CB650R but those are all dated bikes without meaningful upgrades for years leaving people hanging.

      I've been saying that since I got my Trident 660. When they announced the Daytona with the mild upgrade, I was hoping it would trickle down to the Trident. @jonr1122 2 дні тому +14

    Fair play to Triumph for adding all those updates and taking the inflation costs on the chin. That is an impressive update.
    The folks on here moaning that it doesn't get a Daytona tune seem to be forgetting that the Daytona engine is significantly different to the Trident. Bigger air box, extra throtle bodies, bigger cylinder head, pistons, valves, I could go on.

    • @ApexRadius
      @ApexRadius 2 дні тому

      Yes, and the triple throttle bodies of the Daytona make it a no go on this bike. I believe Triumph had to alter the Trident frame to make that work (aside from some other chassis tweaking they did for the Daytona). But I think another issue is that using that engine would be pushing it a little too close to Street Triple territory. It might have been nice to give it a few hundred more revs and a small power bump at the top end, though, if that's possible with the current Trident engine.

  • @Vegesaurus7

    • @SimplicityForGood
      @SimplicityForGood 2 дні тому

      Hey @ApexRadius, thanks for the input! I totally get what you're saying about the Daytona 660-it’s really carving its own path in the sportbike world, distinct from the 675. It was Yammie Noob that was negative to the new Daytona, but I ask around these days to get to know and understand many people's perspectives.
      I've actually been curious about what other bikes out there give off that retro-classic racing vibe, especially for a first bike. I’m thinking something that channels the essence of classic racers without looking too futuristic or "transformer-esque."
      I’m really drawn to bikes that carry a classic racing feel, something reminiscent of the original Daytona but also like the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 or even the Triumph Thruxton RS. I’d love your take on other cool bikes in this vein, especially ones that blend classic style with solid performance. What’s your recommendation for a bike that has that old-school racer soul but can still keep up today? I am planning to buy my first bike next year, but am out in the stores and checking out what is coming now...
      thanks for getting back!

    Hi Bob, great updates for the Trident I own one and because of several of the missing features (quick shifter, bluetooth, modes, etc). Wondering if the modes will be updated to old models?. Not sure about the new suspension setup but I think that the front brake update is missing. With the four piston front brake it would have been perfect, most of the competition has a 4 piston front brake offering. So, a little short but much better looking and a harder choice now between the competitors (considering all the new ones, like the China brands - Cfmoto, QJmoto, Zontes)

    I don't get all the fuss over cruise control. How many people ride at a constant speed on motorways long enough to need it? I get it on cars where you sit in the pack and just able along, but that isn't what motorcycling is about is it, unless you like to cruise like the good ole boys on their Harleys. Or has everyone's wrists got so weak they can't hold their throttles open for long any more? It may seem I'm being flippant, but I genuinely don't get all the fuss made about it in UA-cam bike reviews, even on bikes that aren't meant to be mile munchers. Is it maybe just spec sheet box ticking...does anybody regularly use it?

      I had CC on a (used) car I purchased. It's almost useless on British motorways. Only thing it's good for is if there's a 50 mph (or similar) speed limit with average speed cameras. You can then set it to the figure, and not get 'towed' or 'pushed' over the limit by other vehicles.
      Also I used to entertain my step-son by letting him regulate the car's speed by adjusting the setting.

      @@richardsimpson3792 Slightly off topic as it's car related but adaptive cruise control with radar on my VW golf is a game changer on UK motorways. Very fuel efficient and smooth also, unless you've got a clown driving the car ahead of you. On the topic of CC on bikes, I would have liked it on my 22 plate Trident on those longer stretches of Motorway when you need to travel to get to the twisties

      It’s the U.K. and it’s annoying average speed cameras. More likely to be used in short bursts but it just takes the stress out of those sections as you know you won’t go over so can just focus on handling. At least this is how I end up using it

    What I hate is that most motorcycle companies keep going for the "easy-to-ride" thing nowadays and leave experienced riders with a tuned-down bike without a choice. Don't get me wrong; I can see the use of it, but they belong in the sub400cc category. You shouldn't ask for an easy-to-ride experience when you are looking at a 600cc plus machine; that's just common sense.
