Another fantastic video. Extremely easy to compute and adapt into your swing.
Not the usual overload of information you so often find in video's.
I was a slicer with the driver, but straight with iron shot.
I've cure the slice with the help of Chris's hip bump, strong grip etc. As a consequence I've developed an inconsistent pull/hook with my irons.
So this video is extremely helpful.
I had a great lesson with the TrackMan technology recently at Ultimate Golf Walsall. Within 5 swings it said exactly what Chris just pointed to in the video.

Chris-great vid as always. Another drill I can use to improve direction and flight. When I swing well ( for me ) I can hit the ball pretty straight although they all tend to have a draw bias. I like the feeling of the draw strike better than a cut but am learning to cut the ball using correct technique and cuts are feeling more solid. This drill will help me find the proper position in downswing to stop coming over the top and hitting pulls. Good fun, cheers.

The problem a lot of amateurs have is with three iron shots they can have one left, one straight and one right. It is not so much that we don't know how to or can't hit them straight so much as how do we get them to repeat the same flight path every time.
I guess with us it can be where on the club the strike is :(
Personally I find the best way is to play for curve thus you can't be disappointed if it goes straight :)

"You only hit a straight ball by accident. The ball is going to move right or left every time you hit it, so you had better make it go one way or the other."

Winner of a video, I've been looking for "proper impact position with driver" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Reyuhaffad Underlying Recognition - (search on google ) ? It is an awesome one off guide for discovering how to revealing an effortless golf swing technique without the headache. Ive heard some amazing things about it and my buddy got amazing results with it.

I have just been able to hit a lot straighter by using a smaller back swing. It has helped me to understand what I was doing wrong. I hope that I will still have straight shots as I go with a full swing. Thanks Chris.

I have worked my whole life to NOT swing over the top. I always had a slice. I seem to have improved lately and now I have a hook. Of course it's not all the time. Sometime I hit it perfectly. That inside out swing with just the right closure of the face is tricky.

Thanks for the instructional video! Do these tips apply to the driver and woods?

    Chris,
Do you have a grip video? I suspect I am gripping my irons incorrectly.

My issue is that I will sometimes push my shots. then when i try to change my grip to make it stronger i end up hooking so i am not sure what to fix

Could be taking the club too much to the inside in your backswing when you make your stronger grip.

Am I right in saying if your hands are not further in at impact than set up, your clubland would be open with a forward leaning shift?

Why don't any irons have alignment lines on the top line? Is it illegal to add them yourself?

Chris: I'd love to see your thoughts on 50 yard pitches. I hit shorter pitches dead handed like Jason Day with reasonable success, and over 65 yards I'm comfortable with adjustments to full swing using normal active hands. But around the 40 - 6o yard range dead hands are not comfortable, yet active hands cause troubles with unreliable distance control. It seems my timing when the hands are active only works at full speed. I avoid 50 yard shots, layup to 80-100 rather than face a 50 yard shot. I've tried longer, slower full swings but it just seems my hands only work at dead handed or full engagement. Any swings of the length where my wrists begin to hinge but may not hinge fully are dodgy, I can't trust that length pitch. As this length shot is difficult to practice (need to get on an empty course to use gaming balls to real greens to get spin/rollout feedback since practicing with range balls on nongreenlike landing areas doesn't help much), I've been stuck for years laying up 80-100 when chances are a 50 yard pitch might otherwise result. In my current status, I undoubtedly get closer from 100 than I do from 50. Misses can be thin or fat due to timing half wrist action, but just as often misses are simply too hard or too soft because wrist action at less than full tempo is uncontrolled. I know most players consider 50 yard pitches among the more difficult, and I suspect many players struggle for these same reasons of the swing length falling in the intermediate zone where wrists just begin to engage but can't flow fully and naturally. I suspect more than just I would benefit if you made a video on this. thanks for your great videos.

This video doesn't take into account shaft lean and hitting the ball before the low point to achieve maximum compression. The consequence is that swing direction needs to be slightly out-to-in (a couple of degrees or so depending on the actual attack angle) in order to have club path of zero.
This is rarely explained in online material and worse is that having an out-to-in swing direction is taught as being wrong when in fact it is needed to hit irons straight!
The converse is true for the driver if the AA is +ve i.e. an in-to-out swing direction is needed to hit the ball straight.

The first two tips were hit the ball in the sweet spot and point the club face at the hole.
    Lol, come on man.
