I have been running the Mosko Moto Backcountry panniers for a year now and i absolutely love them. Coming from hard cases, they are just so much more flexible in how and what you can pack. Can’t recommend them enough!!
I highly recommend the windscreen from Paige at Aeroflow Windscreens out of Riverside, CA. I’m 6’1” and use the extra tall as I sit quite upright and can always lower it a bit if needed. Total game changer!
I just bought a 2022 F750GS, it'll be my first adventure style bike. Can't wait to add something's to it. The Denali stuff looks amazing and the cansmart software seems really easy an intuitive. The B6 brake light is a must have for me.
Great video Ian! I’m buying my first GS Adventure 1250R in December of this year. The BMW will be my fifth bike, and it will be my first liter bike. This video really helped me to decide which accessories I’ll be purchasing first - skid plate and cylinder covers are at the top of the list.
Thanks Ian, I know soft luggage is safer in a fall but how do you ensure the contents are secure in busy places. If you travel globally for example, how can you be sure the items will not be robbed if you are completing customs documents or in a shop.
Good video. I recently bought a '22 GS. I traded my '14 RT for it. I wanted to start taking some dirt roads in the the area of my cabin out of town. But most of my riding is highway, or sport touring twisties and taking trips. I am struggling with wind management on the GS. I am VERY unhappy with it. I switched to a large Puig screen and Givi handgaurd extenders. The Puig helped, but now I'm getting beaten up laterally. The wind whips around the windscreen and buffets my torso and under arms. And it's very noisy. I have buyers remorse. I am spending lots of time and money on turning my GS back into an RT. The RT fits me way better.
Will you review the SuperTenere to see how it fairs against all the new adventure bikes on the market today and do you think that Yamaha will come out with a new SuperTenere in near future? Love your channel 👍🏻
I have dropped my GSA a billion times in crazy terrain.. .. The bark busters are actually pointless farkles... Just get shorty levers, but even those have never been needed on my beast
I got the bark busters on my GS but now starting to wonder if I really needed to because I see that the factory levers actually have a notch in them where they are meant to break (if needed) so as to save the rest of the lever. Plus, the factory plastic hand guards should do a reasonable job of protection.
4 favorites I had on my '07 R12GS - Givi Airflow windshield - Givi Tanklock tank bag (similar system to SWMotech) - Sargent low seat - Pivot Pegz (or any set of wider pegs, stockers are very narrow)
Thanks again for a no nonsense video. Looking at the Tourtech bash plate though! I have a 2018 GSA and when the ambient temps get over 32C the heat from the cat converter starts to cook my right foot (others have noted this problem). My concern with your new plate is that it appears to offer minimal air flow to the exhaust area under the bike. The heat issue appears to only apply to the GSA and not so much the GS. I would be interested to hear your comments after you did some riding in hot areas.
As usual, great information. You provide so many good tips whether it’s riding skills, bike adds ons, riding gear, all of it adds to my knowledge. I know you enjoy biking however you should show it sometimes. I thought I saw you smile once but it was probably just wind. 😂😃😃
Hey Ian! Thanks for another great video! I have the same bike as you and was just curious if you have had any issues with the Tech Spec tank pads that you have with the matte white? Was just about to order when I read the warning regarding the matte white possibly absorbing the color of the adhesive. Really like the look and contrast but that made me a little nervous. Thxs.
Ian, another excellent video with great info. I’m in the process of setting up my new GSA Rallye and appreciate you sharing your experience and insights. I’ll mention supply chain woes seem to be affecting the accessory market at the moment. Several items (Barkbusters, tank pad, etc.) are on backorder.
Greetings from Las Vegas, long time subscriber cause you do a great job on the videos. I know this post post is 2 yrs old but was wondering, did you do the Denali canbus install for your aux lights and license plate light, or did you have a shop do it? Just got a 2024 R1250 GSA and thought I might(?) be able to handle the install myself, not a mechanic but I do have some mechanical skills. If you did your own install was it horrible or okay?
Hey Ian, impressive setup and coverage, I really like it, Would you please send us the link for the fog light underneath the front fender (center of the bike). Thanks
Great information for me. I have been on muscle cruisers (which I will keep) but looking to get an ADV bike in order to engage a different riding experience. ADV riding requires differrnt accessories. On the fence between a new or used BMW 1250 GS or a Honda Africa Twin. Also looking at the Triumph and the Ducati Multi. Of course, the available accessories may be a bit different for each bike, but this video gives me more information to consider. Well done.
For side and top bags, while I don't see it too often, it seems like a hard top case combined with soft side bags might offer the best of both worlds. Soft side bag safety, and hard top for when you want to lock things up, or have a seat at your campsite. Anyone do this configuration?
What did you do for 12v power to accessories like power for your cameras, phone, heated gear, etc? Did you install a power distribution block or fuse panel?
Hey Ian, Recently found your channel. Huge fan already. Thank you for all your hard work. Backcountry pannier bags from Mosko Moto - I am planning to get them for my 750GS and wanted to check if you recommend them or have any experience with this brand ? I love them thus far based on their product descriptions and reviews but wanted to get feedback from an experienced rider such as your self. Appreciate your time.
In your video on the you versus Ryan opinions of the 1250 shift cam there is a very small tail bag on the back of the bike and I cannot find any link on you videos to this bag. It looks perfect for what I need. Can you tell me what it is and where to buy? Thanks, Robert
The first thing you have to get on any adventure bike is barbusters and then like he said cylinder covers because I’ve seen in person multiple people punch through those and be totally out of commission.
Sweet toy, info and video! The GI Joe in me is super envious! Are there any miles on that bike... you said you've had it a year? Does anyone know why BMW won't go w/ inverted forks?
Hi Ian, Great content on the Accessories. Your bike looks amazing. i have one question. what is the black mushroom / bobbin object on top of the bar risers used for ? Look forward to more of your posts. Many thanks Nick (united Kingdom)
Hi Ian, Thanks for your informative videos. Your Bark Busters, Are they for a GS or GSA? I called Rocky Mnt and the guy recommended that I not use the 1250 GS BarkBusters on my GSA. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks
Good Info Ryan, question on back seat bags, I have never ridden my bike with any passenger since I started riding. I am looking for a back seat bag and was wondering if you can recommend something for that. I am taking some long camping trips this summer and looking for a bag beside my panniers and SW Tank PRO bag. Any insight would be appreciated.
Hi Ian, I enjoy your videos. Appreciate your add ons for a Gs . Some don’t relate to our side of the world like foot rests for extreme long rides but other add ons are very realistic. Keep it going. Happy stPatricks day to you all.
At last! I've listened and listened to you in the videos about the clip-on windshield vent. Now I know it's a PUIG item. BTW, I'm nearing four-score yrs of age now and I consider you the best "reviewer" of motorcycles and pertinent equipment on UA-cam. I heard you use the term "influencer" re: the title preferred by those who "review." Aside from you, that "ilk" can"t seem to do squat beside get on a bike and ride about Chatting-Kathy ( a doll from the '70s) about themselves; an exercise in ego masturbation. Don't despair but "influencer" is a misnomer of illiteracy in this generation. The correct term for all these "influencers" is the word "tout." Nothing to be ashamed of. It's the correct term. You could stretch the slang term "barker" (from the carnival "pitchman") if you preferred. This whining about "renaming expanionism" (see George Carlin"s comments on this) going on is childish and immature. The English language has over a million words and each is a correct description. Later Gator!
Hey, Ian, research for panniers (Mosko, Lonerider, Nelson-Rigg, Tusk Pilot(great value)) has brought me back to the Bumots ... the quick-release is a winner... Did you order direct from them? How long did delivery take if you recall. Keep up the great content!! A great resource!
Hello Ian, new 2021 r1250 GS owner here. standard, low suspension I wanna replace stock windscreen for better wind & bug protection any recommendations? I’m 5’ 9” tall Wanna do it right the first time why I’m asking the expert Thanks
Ian, thank you for the great video! I am a new owner of a 2023 1250 GSA your video is most helpful! Quick question: I'm 6'6" so, have always had to get taller windshield. I am intrigued by the Puig Windshield visor. However when I look on Revzilla, a new windshield that adds 4" is around the same price. Why would you go with the visor as opposed to the taller windshield? Thanks in advance!
I prefer the smaller windshield with the visor, as opposed to the huge barn door windshield, I find it works better for me and allows more airflow in hot weather
I don’t think you need the BMW navigator anymore cause you can use the bmw connected app that shows up on your try screen… At least after the 2019 models. Had I known this I wouldn’t spend $900 for it…
Too bad you can’t get ANYTHING aftermarket for these bikes. I’ve been trying to get crash bars for my 21 GS1250 since I bought it, with no luck. Is it really that hard to get some damn bike protection? Ridiculous.
Can you tell me what to enter on Rocky Mountain or revzilla for you to get commission. Gonna be spending some $$ and want you to reap the rewards of your hard work.
If I remember correctly my buddy called it "Farkling" back in the day. Check out Danny Mellard channel for the "2009 BMW R1200 GSA changing" video we put together in 2011. Some things change but always are the same...LOL

I like the bmw's but have a KTM at the moment and it's a amazing bike but one thing I noticed is that the BMW guys only wave to each other and usually just look at me like who is this peasant . Kinda sad and funny

My favorite mods so far on my 2020 GS HP (Rallye) are the tires and adding the Zumo XT mount and wiring (Thanks for the awesome how-to video on that)!
I have been running the Mosko Moto Backcountry panniers for a year now and i absolutely love them. Coming from hard cases, they are just so much more flexible in how and what you can pack. Can’t recommend them enough!!

good info
Great company, really helpful with enquiries from Europe, excellent customer service.

The light cover and lights look fantastic!
Great video Ian!
I’m buying my first GS Adventure 1250R in December of this year. The BMW will be my fifth bike, and it will be my first liter bike.
This video really helped me to decide which accessories I’ll be purchasing first - skid plate and cylinder covers are at the top of the list.

Great video Ian. Wondering why you’re switching to Lone Rider panniers?
Same
The Puig clip-on is great…not just with buffeting but with wind noise 👍🏻
RT offers best motorcycle wind protection, no wonder you find GS wind protection inferior. Much easier going from poor to rich versus rich to poor.
Follow up: I sold the GS. It was wonderful for what it was. BUt I went back to a 1250 RT. Wonderful bike!
Wish I’d put on the head covers before dropping my GS in the gravel. Thanks for the great presentation.
Hey, Ian. Thanks for sharing. I recently traded for the 2022 GS Adventure Rallye (we're twins!). This bike is smoother than Irish butter!
I’m also a new GSA Rallye owner. I also use the MAM cylinder guards, but also added the Touratech reinforcement bars for the OEM crash bars.
Love seeing how people set up their different rigs, I'm barely past the headlight and I'm already into it.
Great setup on your GSA. That is my dream bike. Thanks for sharing
I'm looking to get a GSA soon and this is exactly what I needed, thank you! Love your setup and I'll be sure to use your links.
Will you review the SuperTenere to see how it fairs against all the new adventure bikes on the market today and do you think that Yamaha will come out with a new SuperTenere in near future?
Love your channel 👍🏻
Hi Ian, great video, thanks.
Any insights on mounting spots for gopro cameras? Which setup and locations have worked well for you?
Best,
Harsh.

Wow, what you spend on extras is most people's bike budget. You're a lucky guy.
Great info Ian! Love how you have set up your GSA. It looks like you have just about everything covered as far as accessories!
Cheers!

Did you instal the Cansmart and Denali lights yourself, of have them installed locally? Any local installer you recommend?
Extended gear shift lever for adv boots

Is the Puig wind deflector a gsa specific one or will any Puig wind deflector work ?
What do you think of the non-electronic suspension bike ?
are there any advantages to use the Garmin GPS rather than your iPhone to navigate?
what brand tires you running?
Very interesting! What about your seatcover? Missed that in your presentation. Are you still happy with it?
Oh sweet! I have the same color way on my 2022 1250 (non adventure).
Did you do the install on the Denali lights yourself?
No mud sling? Soft pannier bags are not lockable.

Dear, why you u got Bumot soft bags instead of newly quick release LR ? Just want to know if Bumot soft bags are too good, they are certainly cheaper
Hi. I’m checking the cylinder head covers… are they easy to install in the GSA even with the crash bars?
The first thing you have to get on any adventure bike is barbusters and then like he said cylinder covers because I’ve seen in person multiple people punch through those and be totally out of commission.
Why buy GPS nav when we have phones now?
Very nice upgrades!
Did you need to remove the crashbars to intall the cylinder covers?
Yes, the lower crash bars have to come off.
Sweet toy, info and video! The GI Joe in me is super envious! Are there any miles on that bike... you said you've had it a year? Does anyone know why BMW won't go w/ inverted forks?
BMW uses telelever suspension so not like traditional fork sliders, hence no such thing as inverted forks on these bikes.
Hi Ian, Great content on the Accessories. Your bike looks amazing. i have one question. what is the black mushroom / bobbin object on top of the bar risers used for ? Look forward to more of your posts. Many thanks Nick (united Kingdom)

Ian, if you only have $23k and can only have one motorcycle, which one do you choose?
Do the Denali lights attract bugs I have the Clearwater light and they are filled with bugs
I like the tank pads, but not the BMW pricing ($79.95)...I'll look for another option for my GSA.

@@BigRockMoto Awesome! Thank you very much for your response and GREAT content!
Hey just curious, I’m ordering the bumot bags do you have a code for it to get a little percent from the purchase or no?
Bravo!!!
I don’t think you need the BMW navigator anymore cause you can use the bmw connected app that shows up on your try screen… At least after the 2019 models. Had I known this I wouldn’t spend $900 for it…
Bumot Panniers are non-existent in USA ..... tried to order from link and it says to find distributor in US ........

i really want to find some tank pads like the tech spec but clear - anybody know of them?
If I remember correctly my buddy called it "Farkling" back in the day. Check out Danny Mellard channel for the "2009 BMW R1200 GSA changing" video we put together in 2011. Some things change but always are the same...LOL

What tires do you have?
BMW stands for “Bring Massive Wallet”, lol.
Pay a fortune for a GS and then pay even more for accessories?
Seems to be the way things are, the accessories definitely aren't cheap!

Seriously? A 1250 video? Inthe midst of testing the 850? Nobody cares about over weight crap- we want middleweight content!
