  • It is hard to believe that the Nintendo Switch is over 7 years old at this point, the Switch Lite will be 5 this year, and the Switch OLED will be 3 years old. Even so, there are still people just getting into the Switch Ecosystem, and it's an amazing way to play and enjoy video games. As such, I get asked all the time for recommendations for parts, accessories, and items people should get for their systems. It's been a while since we've done this, so let's take a look at some of my favorite accessories for the Switch family of consoles.
    Honorable Mention:
    Micro SD Card
    The Switch comes with a stupid small amount of onboard storage, and it's unforgivable when you look at how much storage has crashed in price. Thankfully, you can quickly and easily add more storage to your system with a Micro SD Card. Stay away from the AliExpress super-ultra-bargin cards, stick with a decent brand like Sandisk or Sony or Samsung. I'd go with at least a 256GB card, but as cheap as they are now, a 512GB one won't break the bank.
    Nintendo Switch Pro Controller
    I hate playing the Switch in handheld mode (more on this later), so I am almost always connected to my television. Using the Joy-Con Grip to play games sucks, but thankfully there's an amazing solution in the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller. It has great ergonomics, wonderful battery life, it is just a great controller to play games with. It's not cheap, but at the same time it's not "cheap", if that makes sense. I've had mine since launch day in 2017, and it's still going strong!
    Display Stands for Controllers and Games
    Yes, this is me self-promoting, but I legit love these 3D printed storage options. Level Up Your Gaming Space with a 3D Printed Nintendo Switch Pro Controller Stand. The controller stand keeps your controller securely displayed and readily charged when you're not dominating the competition. It is durable and lightweight and designed to perfectly fit official Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers, It features a built-in grip to keep your controller in place, even during accidental bumps or vibrations, along with cable management to keep your charging cable from getting tangled or damaged.
    I also have designed and 3D print storage stands for Nintendo Switch Games. Featuring a 2-color red and white design, they are designed to hold 10 games securely in their cases.
    Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass
    With the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pass membership, you get access to a lot of different benefits. First you get access to play NES, SNES, Genesis, N64, Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, and Game Boy Color Games. You also get access to Cloud Saves where your save data will be automatically connected to your Nintendo Account and stored online for compatible games. This makes it easy to retrieve your game data if you lose your system or start using a new one. You also get access to DLC for Animal Crossing, Splatoon, and Mario Kart at no additional charge. I love this service and think it's fantastic.
    Retro Frog RoTATE
    There are a ton of shooters on the Switch that feature TATE mode, and the RoTATE is a great way to play in TATE mode in a tabletop fashion. This 3D Printed design securely holds your Nintendo Switch or Switch OLED (not compatible with Switch Lite) in either portrait or Landscape mode. From here, you can play in your preferred orientation!
    Unitek Game Switchers/Docks
    If you could design the ultimate dock for the Nintendo Switch, what features would you want? Multiple USB ports? Ethernet connectivity? What if it allowed you to store 4 different Switch Cartridges that you could swap between? Well, Unitek has delivered what they feel is the ULTIMATE Nintendo Switch Dock, which features a 4-way Switch Game selector. If you want to keep your OEM Nintendo dock, they also offer add-on switchers for 4 and 8 game carts!
    Fixture Gaming S1, S2 and M1
    I have considered the Fixture Gaming S1 to be the absolute finest way to play your Nintendo Switch in handheld mode, and the S2 carries on that tradition for the Switch OLED, and the M1 is fantastic for Mobile phones and the Switch Lite. The all allow you to connect and play with your Switch Pro Controller in Handheld mode or play in tabletop mode! These are all must-haves for me.

    Thank you for giving the switch still the love it deserves. I got a switch in 2022. I was coming back to play video games after many years not playing. I love the switch.

    Small correction regarding NSO - game boy and game boy color are on the base subscription, it's just GBA that's reserved for the expansion pass.
    Also, on the subject of microSD, maybe worth mentioning for ppl who might be new to this stuff, that any microSD works. No need to pay extra for the Nintendo licensed SD cards.

    Great video! As much is I play everywhere on everything, the switch console does so much so well that it’s become my favourite console of all time. I own all the NSO controllers and love the switch pro controller. So many great accessories

    That dock that switches between the games looks pretty cool, and so is the smaller one. Maybe I will have to look into getting one eventually.

    If you plan on using your Switch in portable-mode regularly, screen protectors are a must. Pretty much any portable device that has a screen (Switch, phone, tablet, etc.) I have to get a screen protector for it.

      @RoXolid  3 місяці тому

      I don't entirely agree with that. In fact an improperly installed screen protector can be worse than nothing

      @@RoXolid You're not wrong. I've had bad luck in the past with installing screen protectors. Specs of dust still stick on the screen after cleaning, air bubbles not going away, etc.
      But they still protect my screen from scratches, so take that for what you will. For some it may not be necessary, but I'm just paranoid of getting scratches on my expensive electronics, even when I take good care of them 🤔

    I remember a few years ago, you showed off the ProCase flipcover case. That has been my favorite case since. They have kept their prices low and have oled and V2 cases. Surprised it wasnt on your list

      Sadly I haven't raced in almost 3 years at this point. I've got a brand new B6.4 that I've never even built, and now the new car came out

      @@RoXolid I just bought my first AE since 1992 with TLR not producing most cars anymore… b7 and everything new for carpet off road… recently took home 1st in a series in the Bay Area. Now it’s time for a new car. We have 4 indoor carpet offroad tracks around me now

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  3 місяці тому

      @intellivisiongamer I gave up on the TLR stuff after the 22 3.0. that car and I did not like each other. The 224 and I really hated each other. The B6.1 and I, I built it, threw it on the track, and I won. I've been with AE stuff ever since. It seems like they flip-floped where for the longest time the associated cars were for very precise drivers and the TLR cars were more planted and had more grip but may not have been as outright fast. The TLR cars are now stupid fast but you really need to be able to drive a loose car whereas the AE cars tend to be more forgiving

    No disrespect ( and apologies as I realize this comes off pretty negative which isn't the intent but I don't understand why this video exists near the end of the switches lifestyle when 1) almost all of these are basic accessories most people buy first thing 2) tp the firet point most of these are listed on several videos from 7 years ago of "first accessories to buy with your new switch" type video. Sd card, pro controller, online? Everyone has those.
    Some of these are also super niche too. Only a couple games thst are mobile ports use the vertical stand and they don't make one for oled
    While the situation for docks got better, it's still not 100% so it's allnuse at yiur own risk
    Side note, more power to you if you enjoyed peach showtime, but given this isn't a review of the game and it got mostly negative reviews, I'm unsure rhe value of featuring it in the thumbnail
    Lastly, the fixture, while admittedly cool, did make improvements to the s1 when the s2 came out, there are still plenty of reports of scratching the controller or tablet so that too is use at yiur own risk

    • @RoXolid
      @RoXolid  3 місяці тому

      It exists because it's something I wanted to talk about.
      I've used the fixture s1 and S2 pretty much since they both came out without any issues scratching my systems

      The switch 2 will probably have the same form factor that most accessories can still be used. It wont even be until 2025 at the earliest anyway. The switch OLED is not dead and will not be dead for quite some time.
