Well i like dis series its good keep doin the series
Coyote and bear urine
Sorry about your 2 broken Switch consoles Wood but at least the OLED Switch is almost here. I can't wait to see your unboxing/review about it✌
I know Its to late but u should have of put some paper In the case
As soon as I saw you say you were going to put the Switch under water in the case I was like..... Oh gawd that's a horrible idea. I was thinking "Why don't you put something like a piece of paper in where the Switch is supposed to be or a Switch Case (like one of those silicone ones) and see if it gets wet or not. Not put the actual Switch in there
A soon as he said the word "waterproof" I was like "Here we go boys"
Haha, i had the same feeling😁
Haha facts
Same I stopped working on homework to watch this.
Saaame
My thought, "surely he won't put a switch in there. Surely he will test it with a piece of paper or something. Wait...oh no."
Life pro tip: You don't need to use your expensive console to test if something is waterproof, just use paper or something.
Next waterproof case test, use a paper switch stand in. If it get soaked, you just saved yourself a repair on a $300 console.
Literally use nothing and touch inside thats it lol, I was screaming at the screen when he put the switch in lol
@@ALEXGAYMAR2312 I think it was fake, meaning the switch was already broken. Pretty good with shock value tough...
Yeah, another channel called Wulff den also test it out a seemingly waterproof case, but he used a piece of paper instead of a switch and by the end of it the piece of paper was totally soaked
Literally. This is so frustrating.
He should have just put the “waterproof” case in alone and then check the inside to see if there’s water inside
But then how would he drive the views in?
@@Jokezfordayz Break something you spent 300 dollars for views or don’t break your switch and get views?
@@nmst3777Stopwatch na, he got like 10 extra minutes of content out of it. plus viewer retention is what pushes videos nowadays. and, we are all arguing about it in the comments lol. he knows what hes doing.
Gotta live on the edge baybee
I agree
Yea I found the waterproof case myself, their claim is "water resistant" which is not the same thing as waterproof, also your talking about not being able to unplug the battery while literally holding it by the unplugged batter wire
OMG what
The lining of the case itself maybe water proof but the zipper has tons of holes that allow water to get through if it was supposed to be fully waterproof they would need to add something to cover the zippers obviously the company didn’t think that people would be dunking the case into a pitcher but the idea is very useful if for example your water bottle leaks in your bag
Please Wood, next time you test "waterproof", just put tissue or kitchen towel into it 😱
Hahahah he knows, don’t patronize him
@@trevorfreund4110 a kid in affrica could have eaten that switch... Joke aside that's a big waste for just a dramatic test

@@agc2801 it was just a momentarily lapse in judgement
The moment he said “waterproof” every bone in my body was screaming “NOT THE ZIPPER THO! ZIPPERS ARE NEVER WATERPROOF”
Yeah, the other parts seemed actually pretty legit waterproof. Would be easy to assume that is made to protect from rain or splashes, not to submerge.
Lol
Why the f would he not just test it with a paper towel inside or something...
There are waterproof zippers, they are often used on expensive motorcycle gear.
These cases are usually listed as "splash resistant" not waterproof, if he would have just spilled water on the case or put it under a tap it probably would have been fine.
But he submerged it for some reason.
@@beargillium2369I don’t really think he cares he has like ever kind of switch out there
The battery pack might be useful for people who only have the lite and have a spare joycon for certain games.
that or issues with gripping things.
i was thinking of the situations where you go to play and realize you didn’t charge them
also, I have 2 pair of joycon and my switch in a Skull & Co gripcase... everytime I need to recharge one pair of joycon its like: get the switch, remove the gripcase, change the joycons, put the gripcase back on, put the switch on the dock...
The joy cons absolutely do not have 20 hours in them, I’m lucky to get 4 of docked play
@@maddiehoch2712 hey its prob when you go on a roadtrip or smth and cant charge it
23:21 lol I use these while hiking, it's nice to be able to play games for awhile in the tent at night before bed and they help alot in extending battery life in the middle of the woods
That guy from the shop was awesome. His laugh was equal parts sympathy and “you are an absolute idiot”.
Yup
he doesnt know what means "apple"
Make note: when testing water proof anything, put a paper towel inside first. If it’s wet, don’t put an expensive device in it.

I legit purchased the Pokeball charge stand after watching this. I work overnights and my switch gets me through most shifts but omg plugging it in to charge is a pain cause you can have the base stand on its own while using a type C phone charger. Thanks for letting me know this exists 😅
"It's not rocket surgery or brain science" that cracked me up lol
You can see that the fabric of the case is hydrophobic because water drips off of it. So it's probably splash proof but water will still enter at the zipper area.
Well most people would understand that... Most people. I mean, it only takes a half a second of logical thought to think about the water getting through the zipper if completely submerged. Logical thought wasn't used today.
yeah I don't think even the ykk zippers designed for "waterproof" clothing would even hold back water from submersion. If someone can make a hard plastic case with rubber gasket then it would come close to waterproof
A lot of things are splash proof, barely anything is waterproof
@@xenos_n. Indeed. He should have filled the case with paper and then submerged it to check if it got wet.
Hate stupid people killing hardware for no reason…if you don’t want it give it away loser
2:55 I believe the general majority of the case is “waterproof” in sense that rain won’t get in if it lands on it or it gets splashed. But the zipper area is definitely not waterproof, it will not make it through SUBMERSION. Aside from that I think it simply looked simplistic and rather stylish
Waterproof does mean you can submerge it. That's why it's practically not legal to advertise a product as waterproof unless it's actually completely waterproof, and most products, even the ones that can fully handle submersion for a long period while turned on (i.e. any iPhone from the last 6-7 years) can only use the term "water-resistant". He said in the video waterproof, so either the product page does not say that or it's completely false advertising (yes! even if it can handle rain that's false advertising!)
Dude!! My husband and I LOST our minds when you went to Retro Madness, I think we go to that same exact store! Good to see local content creators 💜
12:45 - Where can I find those?
“ I peg her... I barely know her” Wood I am dying 😂😂😂
The fact that he could have just put a paper towel (or anything else really) inside the "waterproof" case but he decided to put a working Switch in it is just fascinating to me haha
I almost never subscribe to channels and I NEVER EVER, click on the bell. But after watching that, and the sparkling flame coming from the pliers, I did both things XDD
At least he went to get it fixed himself, instead of just buying another switch
Omg i never thought of that lol
Money makes people stupid someone who doesn't have that type of money to just go but another one wouldn't have even thought about putting a switch in it to test it. But he probably also knows that this video would make plenty enough money to replace it
@@michaels8237 but he didn’t replace it he tried to fix it himself then got it professionally fixed if you had watched it you would know, he’s not the typical tech youtuber
The battery pack could be used for people with a Lite, or if you don't dock the joycons on a charger when you're done using it. For example, if you constantly forget to put them on the Switch, then it could help? Still weird though.
I have never seen one of your videos and honestly i'm so glad i saw this! not only cause i love random accessories for nintendo devices but also because i've been looking to buy a nintendo 3ds and haven't had much luck finding one so i'm really excited to check out retro madness and see if they have one for sale!!
I was so invested in the repair story I forgot what this video was about lol
Piercing a battery like that can lead to it exploding or completely catching fire, it’s actually amazing that nothing happened to the compromised battery since I’m assuming he left it laying about until the next day 😬 I don’t really judge someone for not knowing these things but it’s actually incredibly dangerous and he’s lucky nothing worse happened than a little spark and flame!
Lol idk about you but most ppls homes are filled with old cellphones and battery operated things with busted batteries. Esp battery operated candles. Stores like savers are FILLED with them. It's so gross. But like, when's the last time y'all checked the batteries in your wii fit board😅
They're always exploded. It's an easy cleanup but keep in mind there IS proper disposal of these things.
That spark likely won't happen unless you inexplicably Pierce the battery yourself intentionally, with something metal, as seen in this video😂😂
You're absolutely correct, just hopefully not many ppl would end up in this scenario lol lol
Judging by the fact that this guy put his working switch inside of a "waterproof" case from a shady website, I don't think he's all that bright.

What a legend
As someone who does some repairing probably a lot. People drench their electronics more often than you would think. The worst is always sugary beverages that were accidentally spilled, I once had to first scrape dried up sugary crust off before I could even open it, it was an N64 and the crust was bright neon blue.
I think the joycon double battery pack actually makes a lot of sense😅 Whenever I'm on vacation with my parents there aren't enough places in the wall to put plugs in for recharging so often mobiles get prioritised and everything else doesn't get charged for days

Nintendo missed out on making custom docks, they would have made a fortune.
I always wondered why they didn’t
The switch has a lot of capabilities and creative ideas that nintendo isnt making. They could've made a lot of accessories for the switch but you dont see them making it.
I've bought an amazingly beautiful custom squirtle dock on etsy. I wish Nintendo would make stuff like that, it's sooo pretty.
@Basketball American i came into the comments this comment hoping some one said this and I'm not disappointed.

7:22 what makes me laugh is that simply disconnecting the battery from the motherboard has the same effect as physically removing it from the device. Your tech buddy only wanted you to cut the power supply from the board 🤣😂 He even said "I would UNPLUG the battery"
This is such an amazing retro madness ad lol. But for real, that guy was so nice, I'm amazed he was able to fix that! What a miracle worker!
The case being waterproof is probably just about the material of the case, not the ability to submerge it in water with a powered on Switch without breaking it.
If they are advertising as 100% water proof. It's supposed to be 100% water proof. Since this clearly isn't the case, they can get sued for false advertising.

Why does he keep destroying his Nintendo
@@MrTytyjohn64 because he has like 7 of them

normal zippers are rarely waterproof, having small gaps between them is literally part of the reason they work

There was like 1,000 better ideas lmao
It's not that limited You can still buy the mario switch on the walmart website. Was it suppose to be limited?
and the lesson is- “waterproof” and “submergible” are NOT the same thing 😅
yeah, waterproof means like protection against rain and maybe like a slight drop into a puddle, not *submarine mode*
It should have said splash proof
@@twerkmaster-yn7yz Waterproof means it can be submerged, water resistant means it can get water on it. If it claimed to be waterproof than that is false advertising.
The issue is that waterproof should mean waterproof. If you call something waterproof and it can be infiltrated by water you're lying and that should be lawsuit worthy.

@@oliver-04 That is objectively just not true lol
I think there’s a difference between waterproof and water resistant. I think the latter is the one that allows you to immerse the case in water, but waterproof just protects against splashes I think.
I think you have it backwards but on the right track
@@brettleist7563 really? But wasn’t Wood’s case “waterproof”, and that’s why the immersion didn’t work? 🤔
@@stvjful that's because they false advertise. Happens quite alot. I was even suprised that the case was water resistend
I looked the case up. It has a "waterproof shield"
I.e the hard shell is waterproof. The zipper is not.

22:36 every time I buy a bag, let it be a purse, a small backpack, anything, I always make sure my switch fits inside first because I like bringing my switch places. When I made a purse I made a pocket just for my switch with a holder for game cartridges and a charger!

Me: * dies inside *
8:00 bro that’s my local retro madness 😳. Also it’s really good for collecting, I usually get my wii accessories there.
I actually kinda like the batter packs for the joycons. If you have bigger hands it makes them chunkier to use separately while docked while also charging them. You could also buy rechargeable double a's, so you can reuse those as well. Yea you can just plug it into the switch to charge them but if you mostly use your switch docked and want to charge another pair and play at the same time their pretty useful. I think if you could slide them into the switch it would make it that much better cause you could charge them with the switch turned off.
I was about to get teary-eyed when the guy said they were able to repair the submerged Switch. I'm happy for you and good looking out promoting their store.
That was such a journey of the first 12 minutes, glad for a happy ending!
I loved it !
waterproof meaning if a spill gets on it, it wont seep through. dropping any type of zipper case into a pool of water submerged is gonna get water forced in somehow
“I peg ‘er”…I barely know ‘er 😂😂😂 the best one-liner omg
I've actually been to that Retro Madness. It really is an amazing place.
Yeah my dad is one of the managers 😂
I'm not gonna lie - the part where you just documented your experiences with real people fixing the joycon is so refreshing and I loved this part of the video. Please take us shopping or something lol. I know we're like in a pandemic, but if there's an opportunity to do it safely, please take it :)
The funniest thing about the waterproof case test is that you didn't even need to put a switch in it to test if it worked. You could have just dunked the case in water and then opened it to see if the inside was wet. I suppose that's less dramatic but whatever lol.
i love that the most replayed part if the video is after the ad
That bear controller is adorable
I'm thinking on getting it for my kid haha it looks super cute!! And good size for tiny hands
As a computer repair technician I'm a little upset that spawn told you to take out the entire battery. After you simply disconnect the power that was probably good enough to just let it dry and try again in a couple days. Severe miscommunication on his part.
You can't just disconnect the power to a switch since it's a portable device. That is why he said take the battery out.
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 what are you talking about when you disconnect the battery cable from the main board the power is not circulating thus there's no chance of shortage which is why he told him to take the battery out in the first place.
@@rokku87 I rewatched the video and Spawn actually did not say to remove the entire battery. He said "unplug the battery".
@@scarffoxandfriends9401 You have to be extremely specific when it comes to technical instructions. If Spawn wasn't sure he should have just said turn it off and take it to a company. Not saying Spawn was being malicious but he was not being considerate to possible misinterpretations his friend might have made. Language is extremely important especially when it comes to technical language. As a computer science kind of guy that writes technical documents as part of his job this was a big oof. He should have specifically said "Open the switch and remove the battery cable from the motherboard only, then let it dry" or something to that extent.
@@rokku87 I think the major thing here is Spawn job was to fix consoles himself. He never instructed people to do it. So that's why he said "just unplug it" because that's how it thinks of the situation. I don't blame him for being anymore specific because most people don't take the leap of logic that unplug means to take the whole battery out. He probably would have been more specific if Wood told him the reason his switch was soaked was becuase he took an Amazon page showing a case with a little rain on it was the same thing as being able to dunk it underwater.
The "I mean sure" had me howling 🤣
To be fair to the oddly angled grips, they do help with putting less strain on the wrists, since that grip makes you hold them in a way your wrists aren't bent
I don't know, it just helped me personally since I have really severe RA with swollen wrists
The screw up was turning it on without making sure it was 100% dry. There's a possibility it would've worked fine
The sad thing is that the batery entry could become rusty and so the switch stopped caunging, actually all he did were the worst choices
I follow Wood on Twitch and I remember seeing "I broke my switch" and two days later "I broke another switch" and wondered what in the world has he done now
12:23 imagine if it bricked all the joy cons and dock
The joy con sword on the thumbnail looks like alot of fun lol!
Also that so called water case really was painful.
I’ve watched every video in the series twice and would watch them again can’t wait for more
Isn't waterproof and water submersion different? That's why some watches say water-resistant and others state up to x meters of submersion? Anyways hope your switch survives.
my friend told me in the past in the case of phones (he works w phones) water resistant usually means they can handle light splashes, rain, spills, etc but waterproof is supposed to be more legit full water protection (as in submerssible). for example a waterproof camera is a camera you should be able to use underwater (like the old cheapie Kodak waterproof ones).
Water Resistant means random water got on it as in a very small amount. Waterproof has different meanings, take watches for instance they will actually say waterproof up to 10 ft or something like that on them telling you the limits. So waterproof in this instance probably meant if you sprayed it with a hose for a few seconds you would be okay. More water than water resistant, but not total submersion. This is what happens when it's subject to interpretation.
Thanks for shouting out what seems to be a great business. And I'm sure with your reviews of Game stop, that some stores wether its second hand or not can have a bad vibe. He seemed to be cool and the store looks awesome. We have a store like this in my area but the staff is not so great, but the store is beautiful you can even buy like old pinball machines and huge collectibles like a human sized mario kart.

I bought that Ipego charging dock about a year and a half ago when I first got my switch. I love it it works great and always does its job and I usually charge all 6 of my controllers at once. Anyone who is looking for a great way to charge all of your joycons at once like if you want to play a party game where you need all of them I would heavily suggest it great quality for the money!
" but I stilstill gatta use my imagination for the left hand?" XD TRULY A GREAT QUOTE
I go to that exact retro madness here in North Texas, they are lifesavers!!!
The case is probably more like water resistant, meaning water can only go in through the zipper, meaning the case is resilient to rain and spills
To be honest, the battery pack thing may be useful as a grip more than a battery pack if you want to play with them separated in each hand.
Why not just sell it as a grip then? Seems odd to have the joycons in a grip that will charge it with AA batteries. It would also be cheaper if it was just an attachment vs having a circuit board inside.
Yhea, Im surprised Hori hasn't made individual grips with that mold, without the electronic components
Funny, I had that galaxy controller on my amazon list! Glad to see the same controller (in a diff color) in this video.
Side note about the joycon controller charge time... mine once died after only a few hours of gaming, but that only happened once.

seeing you almost start a fire because you were worried the wet battery would start a fire was pretty funny not gonna lie. next time, just drop some isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery and let it work itself into the adhesive then you can safely remove the battery without damaging it.

Finding controllers dead randomly happens to me to those batter packs would actually be pretty nice, especially if they’re reminiscent of wii motes

‘It’s not rocket surgery or brain science’ that but got me rolling on the floor 😂
Those black things you picked up are called joycon wriststraps there for motion gameplay like just dance or the island excersize In anamal crossings
