I also can vouch for the skull and co grip. Have it for my OLED and it's very comfortable, has swappable grips and fits in the dock with NO bulging. Seems to be easier to find in the UK too.
Having owned the skull and co. grip, as well as a satisfye grip, I can vouch for the Skull and Co. being superior. The swappable/removable grips mean it can still be stowed in a regular case or bag, and it’s still dockable too. Honestly the Satisfye grip looks like a ripoff of the other.
The Skull & Co grip is my favorite! I like the one that's trigger shaped. That one feels comfortable while holding it. In fact, Skull & Co. is my go-to brand for Switch accessories. I highly recommend it! Their Switch carrying case and Bluetooth audio stick is top-notch! 👍
The fact that the kickstand doesn’t work and that it might scuff the deck is a deal breaker for me. I mostly use my OLED in tabletop mode with a controller.
I've had the Ronin for a hot minute and it doesn't at all scuff the dock. Also you can use the hinge on the OLED, just a bit of a wider angle, otherwise it's the literal best grip I've ever used for the Switch no joke.
Not a fan of scratching my screen by docking it with the Satisfye grip. Skull & Co. doesn’t have that issue and comfortable for me with the slim option. lol
They don't actually have to get rid of the cartridge storage slots, just manufacture little rubber plugs that go in there. In fact, they don't even have to do that themselves; anyone interested in selling accessories can manufacture those.
Got a NYXI controller to solve this docking problem. The switch stays “comfortable” in dock mode and when it is outside the NYXI ensures the grip and comfort to play long sessions. And it also has L4 and R4 programmable buttons.
I've had one of these since the Ronin came out, and i love every part of it. Especially having the 2 cartridge slots, they have a solid click, and you kinda need your fingernail to take them out, but it's very secure, and way better than going to the game case to change games. I also recommend the Elite case, holds a portable battery pack in the bottom, right angle cable to charge in the case, plus a top pouch that can hold more joycon, those slim 8bitdo controllers, and genki dock and cables
Alex, you always make such great reviews. Thank you. I play my Switch, primarily, in handheld mode. I love using the Hori Pro Grip thing controllers (I can’t remember that whole “mouth salad” of a title). But you are always there to give us new insight.
I don't know if has been said in other comments but the cartridges and be pushed in and click once locked in place. As for the kickstand, I have seen pictures of being able to use the kickstand while the grip is on it. Is that not the case?
Grip cases screwed up my oled. Can barely play with the joycons attached anymore because they just fall off (won’t lock properly in place anymore). Don’t know if the wing sliding bars are bent or if it damaged the locking lugs when removing it from the grip case I had. So I’m pretty much just using it on one of those desk vices with telescopic arm.
I have the nitrodeck and I’m happy with that, it’s my favorite and I find it the most comfortable, I have the same satisfye grip you have the one you can see through and me personally I don’t find it comfortable and makes my hands feel awkward idk why. I also just can’t use the normal joycon sticks anymore they are to small and I like the nitrodeck or I also use the wizard gamecube style controller sometimes from nyxi and it’s not the best but I love the buttons. Is the ronin more comfortable then the regular satisfye grip.
I have bought two of the satsifye grips and they wind up leaving kind of an eraser trail on the back of the switch from the rubber bumpers. I just switched to using the hori compact joycon replacements and it's solved all my problems. Weighs less too.
I love this grip but agree with the dock issues, the bulging is just enough to make it just not feel good and a little sketchy. They could have made the plastic thinner but cover a larger area (covering the kickstand which is useless with this grip) to maintain rigidness but feel smoother to dock. I also don’t like that the feet obstruct the ability to push the console out via the joycons. I’ve had older joycons that don’t quite snap in so when you push on the console to release from the grip they snap off, it also just causes unneeded pressure on the rails of the joycons. The game storage is actually near and useful to me but it is poorly designed and they are very hard and awakward to get games out.
I tried an insert style grip like this, and it was okay, but part of my problem is the size of the buttons and joysticks on the original joycons, so I use a Hori Split Pad Pro, so I get the full sized buttons and sticks.
Big fan of the Split Pad Pro by HORI. Not so much a grip as replacement for the joy-cons (None wireless, only works when connected). Fixes my main problem when playing handheld: The joy-con buttons and d-pad feel too small and not tactile enough. And since it just replaces the joy-cons it doesn't impede docking at all. Now I just need to find a case that fits the switch with them connected. It's huge.
@@leehardy2025 I normally don't buy things just from recommendations in comments sections, but in this particular instance I'm glad I did. The Buterfox case fits perfectly. Thank you.
Hi, I got the Mobapad M6 joycons recently. They are amazing. Bigger and easier to grip, premium, clicky buttons (Omron microswitches), haul-effect sticks (You can change the faceplates, as they are magnetic, as to have an 8-direction gate, like a fight stick, which helps for a lot of games.) and the best d-pad I have ever used. (I can finally enjoy street fighter 3 on my switch in handheld.) I added some small rubber pads to the sides to help with grip, as I live in a hot country, so sweaty hands can be an issue, but otherwise they transform the switch into a much more premium feeling system. And they have HD rumble and motion controls which work great for Switch Sports. If the triggers were analogue (not used in many games) and they had some rubber grips, they would be almost perfect. Already the best by a long way in my opinion and they fit in the dock. (I added some U-shaped USB adapters, so my cables don't point out the side of the dock and don't interfere with the larger grips.)
Been looking into maybe getting these. One question I've been asking of people who own these is, given that the buttons are akin to a mouse click, how loud are they really AND is it so loud that it becomes slightly annoying to either yourself or those around you? Thanx in advance for the feedback.
@@sofaking1180 The buttons are louder than others, but they are the same as clicking a mouse. It doesn't bother me, but I have been told it sounds loud. That said the buttons feel much better than others, plus the d-pad uses the same switches and it is fantastic for fighting games. It's a night-and-day difference in my opinion.
That Ice grip is probably really tight because the original was designed before the OLED. I had one on my regular size Switch, nice fit. It will fit an oled but it will be under constant pressure. Maybe they make new ones to fit the OLED in the Ice edition as it is called.
I don’t really dock my Switch so the last revision works, but the offset grip design is just SO GOOD. And this is clearly its FINAL FORM. And it’s a good’un. The Steam Deck didn’t have as far to go, but their Stylth Grip moves the balance of the unit down towards the hands really well, too.
I bought a satisfye grip for my switch lite but it rubs the skin/decal I got for it so I haven’t been using it. It is designed for a better grip but lately it just sits on my shelf.
The JoyCons are absolutely atrocious: sticks are to small, they are prone to drift, there is not a good D-pad and they are seriously uncomfortable to use! We use Hori Split Pads and Nyxi Hyperion Metor pads: you get normal sized sticks, a very good D-pad, good sized buttons and very comfortable grips. Downside: our Switches are as big as my Steam Deck...
I have this and love it apart from it makes the usb on the side on the dock unusable which was a big downside for me as i was using it to power my 8bitdo controller dock into.
Skull & co jumpgate plus gripcase? been using it for ages now. Works a treat and best I've had considering I have moderately large hands. I can palm a basketball for reference
I received this grip as a holiday gift and I have to say it has significantly improved my gaming experiences. I credit the grip as helping me beat 16 heat on Hades a few times
My only complaint is that you can’t use 1 out of 3. 1 of them you need to plug in the usb cord before you dock it. Then there is one on the back of the switch next to the usb-c and hdmi. Never tried any other grip but this one is amazing
i bought a satisfye mini grip, cut each of the grips off, and just used scotch tape to tape the underside of the the joy cons into each of the grips. this way i can use the joy cons as a comfortable gamepad/use the joycons with each grip separately if i wanna play something that requires it (zelda skyward sword for example)/ or just stick the joycons onto the switch if i wanna play handheld.
It's les about hand size and more the angle your hands and wrists are at with the Switch, and the fact that it's just a big, heavy machine compared to earlier handheld gaming devices.
I've been using the Satisfy grip for the OLED since it came out -- won't play it portably any other way. But 90% of my Switch time is on the TV. It is annoying having to take it in an out of the grip. Didn't even know that the Mythic Edition solved for that. But, I will grin an bear it until Switch 2 comes out
I got one of these after having one of the originals and while the dockable nature of it makes it a step up in my book, it's not 100% an improvement. The molding, most notably, has more flashing on it around the parting lines, and there's more of a gap in the union of the parts. It's also less rigid than the original. BUT, if you play docked a decent amount, it's a huge step up. If you play mostly mobile, go with the original.
My biggest gripe is the official dpad hori joycon fit in previous model does not fit in this redesign. So this video is incorrect that feature was removed. It was added in their first redesign years ago.
I got one of those from amazon. the one i got i didn't like it. to much of a angle. Is there a fix for joycons for house of the dead remake? There was a update that fixed it a bit. still wonders after a wile. even tried getting them replaced with no luck. IDK. ended up getting doyoky gamecube controllers. IDK motion worked out better. Even the switch pro controller worked better. There is joycon drift fix that replaces the joysticks. will that help. kinda don't want to get arms and switch sports now. Works grate with other games without motion.
I want one of these bad but I already own the standard Pro grip and it's hard to justify the price. Right now my really stupid solution is to use my LCD Switch as the docked Switch and my OLED with grip for handheld.
I’ve been using the skull & co grip for probably over a year and haven’t had any issues. Plus it comes with different size hand grips and fits in the dock no problem. I love mine cuz I use it mainly handheld anyway!!
Does anyone have anything bad to say about this grip? Trying to decide between this and Skull n co. I didn’t like my Zen Grip pro because it was too tight but this seems to have fixed that? This also has the special colour ways that I like more.
The grip wars were over since skull and co released their OLED grip. Dockable, three sizes of grips included, and doesn’t even cost 20 bucks. Kickstand works as well.
I dislike the ZenGrip Ronin because all the gravitational weight/force rests on the joycons. This wears down the rail connection with the base that wants to fall down out of the joycons that are hold up by the grip. I'm using an USB-C extension cable with my dock, so my Switch stays in the grip and stands next to the dock. Ideally I'd buy a mod kit for the dock to change it so that I can slide my Switch in even with the grip on.
I don't have big hands but when I first got the switch I played it primarily in handheld mode and started getting tendonitis in my thumbs. Mind I had a Wii U before it and that was very comfortable for long play sessions. I ended up getting a pro controller and playing primarily docked and the tendonitis went away
I have the ronin and it’s my favorite grip (I’ve bought far too many) I like having the hd rumble for my games. Love that Zelda grip, was very tempted to buy the Zelda Oled to match it.
I've been using the Satisfye since it came out. The non-symmetrical grips are perfect for long gaming sessions I've been saying this for years that they needed one to go in the dock! Surprised you took so long to do a video on this version! edit-since I got my satisfye grip two years ago I haven't played docked at all...
Skull & Co has the best grips the trigger ones are better than most controllers even when itr comes to playing Splatoon. And you can also get the Mobapad 6 HD which has actual HD rumble (yes even on Mario wonder it makes the same tunes) and it's comfortable to hold separate it has big trigger buttons like the pro instead of cramped small ones. And it has digital click, and Hall effect sticks so you are freed from stick drift! I don't understand why Nintendo didn't make joycons like that!
I think I would just get more ergonomic and comfortable joycons. Something like the NYXI that fits well in big hands and still docks properly. No need to have this thing that wraps around the entire device.
I love my s1 and s2. But I have a grip called nexigrip ...I think. I love it. It's one that is one piece that the switch slides into it. But all the buttons feel amazing and positioned perfectly unlike the dumb nitro deck. But the s1/s2 are great too. I switch between those 2 and I also have the binbok controllers that both slide on each end and u don't need a grip. I rotate between those 3 . Just whatever I feel like using lol. But those 3 are the best without a doubt. I also have skull& co , and even the grip in this video...if u have to use joy cons....to play the switch...I feel sorry for u 😂
Do people actually still use the original joycons in handheld mode? And for long sessions of gaming?! Gosh, I can't even imagine it with all the problems the original joycons have!! For handheld mode, I personally use the Hori Splitpad Compact. It's much larger in size compared to the original joycons, much more ergonomically designed for the hands, and it can be used on the original Switch model or OLED model... they can also be docked without any trouble on any Switch dock too, so no hassle with having to use any sort of grip device! The only functionality missing from the Hori Splitpad Compact is the motion sensor and NFC sensor.
I love my Bin Bok joy cons. Similar to th Hori, but with rumble feedback. Awesome for bigger hands and I love th RGB lighting around th joysticks. It also has a case you can purchase separately that does th job suffice.
I've had the Satisfye Grip for quite some time and as far as I know, you don't put the NSW in there with both Joy-Cons. You put the NSW with one Joy-Con in the grip and then put the other one in. I'm also not a fan of that thing scratching and forcing the dock, hence why I've picked the Zelda one from Skull & Co and it's far superior, IMHO.
Congrats on your recent nuptials 😊 As for this product, I've been a Switch owner since launch, and while my Switch is easily my most played console, I'd estimate 99% of my thousands of hours playing it have been in docked mode. However, the recent Balatro release has finally got me playing it in portable mode, and as someone who has wrist issues, I could definitely see this helping an "old 37 year man" like myself :P
Skull & Co. NeoGrip is far far far better and cheaper , plus you can easily slide off the left grip to have access to the usb ports while its being docked , if you slide both grips off you can use it in any carry case, plus it also comes with diffrent grips to suit your hand size plus those things you can pop on the buttons (which I've never bothred with)
My go-to is the Hori Split Pad Pro. Much prefer the bigger thumbsticks and buttons over the tiny joycons', plus it's dockable. Yeah no rumble but that's not a dealbreaker for me.
My Satisfye grip damaged the lock mechanism on my joycon because It's too tight fitting it in & out, it also left scuff marks on my white joycons, so I got a refund and bought a Skull & Co grip, It's way better!
Umm, no there’s actually a huge problem with this product that NO reviews for this mention. If you have a well worn switch as most of us do, the rails on the joy on get very loose, so when putting on this satisfye grip not only is it difficult to slide on bc your joycons keep popping off, with just a wiggle you can get your switch to drop out the bottom bc there is nothing to hold it (bc it’s dockable)
Was skeptical but when I realized I could use grips and dock it, I was in love. My only hesitation is that we're very near the end of the Switch's lifespan. If this had come sooner, I would be purchasing it right now. I just hope they come up with something like this for the Switch 2 (if the console doesn't change form too dramatically) EDIT: Ah, you made all those points at the end lol
I've been eyeing up a Satisfye grip for a while tbh and the only thing I haven't been able to justify is the size and it not being able to fit in my travel case... Mind you, if I travelled more it would be more of an issue! 🤭
I've had Skull & Co OLED grip for at least a year now. It's better than the Satisfye, has a nice case, swappable grips, is less expensive, and it docks perfectly.
I just designed and 3d printed my own dock shell that takes the guts of a switch dock and makes it a smaller form factor. It can be modified to fit any grips. :) I never liked the dock...
The grips aren’t bad but then you’re left to deal with those thumb sticks unless you want to pull them apart. Not a fan of the limited movement and drift. I got the Mobapad M6 HD, and WOW, so much better.
Satisfye makes a grip that is designed specifically for the OLED that works a lot better than shoving your OLED into the regular one. It kinda sucks because I had to buy another grip, but now I have a grip for all my Switches.
I also can vouch for the skull and co grip. Have it for my OLED and it's very comfortable, has swappable grips and fits in the dock with NO bulging. Seems to be easier to find in the UK too.
No bulging? Don't the OLED extension mechanism interfere with the dock?
As someone with this grip I agree it's my favorite so far
Having owned the skull and co. grip, as well as a satisfye grip, I can vouch for the Skull and Co. being superior. The swappable/removable grips mean it can still be stowed in a regular case or bag, and it’s still dockable too. Honestly the Satisfye grip looks like a ripoff of the other.

I agree 💯. I also have the limited Zelda grip
I can vouch for this
I have one of these grips it’s a game changer as I suffer with carpal tunnel in my hands and this just makes it so much more comfortable xxx
The fact that the kickstand doesn’t work and that it might scuff the deck is a deal breaker for me. I mostly use my OLED in tabletop mode with a controller.
The kickstand is not needed because the feet are there for tabletop mode.

There is only 1 problem with the switch that remains and that is that we can’t play „Doshin the Giant“ on it😊🎮❤️
Yes, and if they add it, there better be an NTSC version :(
Ya the fact you can't play every game ever made eon it sucks. The steam deck is better in that regard but still not perfect sadly

I got skull&co case grip. Fits in dock, fits in case, detachable grips. Best thing I had.
How's it compare to nyxi or hori split pads?
Those side slots for cartridges, works fine. Push it in and it locks like when you put in a game in the switch!
Guess with my grip, I don’t find it too cumbersome to take it in and out. Then again, my Switch stays undocked most of the time.
The title of this video should have been: "Alex used to have trouble getting it in"
I use 3D printed grips that are attached only to the joycons and they work very well, dockable too
I don't have big hands but when I first got the switch I played it primarily in handheld mode and started getting tendonitis in my thumbs. Mind I had a Wii U before it and that was very comfortable for long play sessions. I ended up getting a pro controller and playing primarily docked and the tendonitis went away
Is it over cause soon the Switch2 will come out and then we will move into a different grip war?
Customer service is terrible. Rubbish company.
Skull&Bones has good ones too. Mostly comparaböe but doesn't have the stand thingy
I have the ronin and it’s my favorite grip (I’ve bought far too many) I like having the hd rumble for my games. Love that Zelda grip, was very tempted to buy the Zelda Oled to match it.
I've been using the Satisfye since it came out.
The non-symmetrical grips are perfect for long gaming sessions
I've been saying this for years that they needed one to go in the dock!
Surprised you took so long to do a video on this version!
edit-since I got my satisfye grip two years ago I haven't played docked at all...
Grip é algo obrigatório. Por aqui não tem essa variedade, bem difícil de encontrar e custa caro, quase metade do valo de um switch lite 😢
Shout out to the Fixture S1 & S2 grips for those of us who prefer to use the Pro controller instead of the joycons 🙌🏽
Fixture S2 (for OLED) is by far the best way to play Switch in handheld mode. Grips suck and Pro Controller > the rest.
The Stasfy grip has gotten me to be WAY more tolerant of the joy-cons. They still aren’t great but they are good enough.
'So anyway...'
*Me chillin' with my neo grip*
I use a UB Pro by Unicorn Beetle. It's comfortable and you can dock it. It gives a good grip while being still kinda compact.
Just re-house your dock in one of those handy dandy low profiles stands. Its wonderful.
I use nyxi hyperion pro and I have not used anything else since...
Congrats on your recent nuptials 😊
As for this product, I've been a Switch owner since launch, and while my Switch is easily my most played console, I'd estimate 99% of my thousands of hours playing it have been in docked mode.
I just hope they come up with something like this for the Switch 2 (if the console doesn't change form too dramatically)
EDIT: Ah, you made all those points at the end lol
Does it scratch the body or joycons
I love the Satisfye grip. I had mine for years. Unfortunately I missed the Tears of the Kingdom themed one.
Yep. The ronin. It fits in the dock too
great review, except you forgot to test the old dock - old dock bends, a lot
I have ocd so the right grip being larger botheres me.
I still have the original switch. Still worth?
you can get the older grip model that fits the original switch, as that one in the video is for OLED which is a bit bigger
I like the Satisfye a lot as a big hander here. Glad to hear they made an update!! Will have to pick the new version when I need another.
Except it cracks your screen. If you have a protector on your screen it will damage it. I have a premium one and it cracked.
The regular Switch fits in my tiny baby hands quite well.
