    It looked great! Debating whether to try it and you definitely make it seem possible.Always been a do-it-yourselfer but have never really done bleach- mostly auburn/reds.

    Looking back, I can admit this was a little reckless and not very good for the health of my hair.
    It was not sustainable, after it started to grow out touching up the roots on my own was very difficult and put my hair under even more stress and damage.
    I'd thought I did a lot of research and following advice from others online but if you actually care about sustaining the look or the health of your hair I would recommend consulting a professional.
    After a few months, and after trying to touch up the roots by hair was extremely dried out and was breaking, if you are trying to keep your length and dont want to end up shaving off your hair then I would not recommend trying this yourself.
    I am glad I documented the process and will keep this video up, but lessons were learnt.

      i thought your hair was shaved even before you started this silver/grey.are you saying you had to cut it all off due to damage?

    • @SonnySketch
      @SonnySketch  Рік тому +1

      @@brandygrandon8101 I had one side shaved at the beginning, then as my natural hair grey in and I wanted to touch up my roots I wasnt super accurate- as I was doing it at home by myself, and the bleach touched some of the hair that had already been bleached and dyed. Thus adding more chemical damage onto the strands. This weakened it and caused it to break in some parts. Not SUPER noticeable at first, but over time with casual wear from brushing and life it became more noticeable. The broken ends looked like split ends poking out and my hair looked thinner (as its naturally pretty thick). Thus I ended up shaving both sides and leaving about 4 or so inches in the middle, like an unintentional mohawk. Luckily as I said my hair is thick so when it was worn down it wasnt obvious how much hair was actually missing.
      TLDR: Didnt cut it ALL of but A LOT of the hair got damaged during at home upkeep

    Really nice job. I just came back from a stylist that I hoped would do that & colored my hair an orangy blonde and now my natural silvery hair (I'm over 50 yrs.) turned a yellow silver- it was orange but she did another step & it's a darker blonde/orange. Arghhhh.

      Teresita DeJesus good luck! To be honest the hair wasn’t that bad until I tried to bleach the roots when they started to grow in and that’s where I really damaged it :( got too cocky about my luck I guess haha so just be careful when that happens :)

    Geez. I thought I was the only insane 1 to bleach my hair 3 times in a few days!!! Well, actually I did 3 times in a week. I maintained the roots for awhile and then just got lazy so the bottom half of my hair is platinum blond, the top is dark brown. When I did those bleaching, my hair was blue. I used a 30 developer, let it on for 30 minutes each time, with shower cap. After, I mixed olive oil and sesame oil half and half, warmed it, saturated my hair with it and put it in a clean shower cap. Left it on a couple hours and washed it out with argan oil shampoo. Used the matching conditioner. My hair was actually in better condition than when I started!! I had bought a steel gray permanent dye but a certain grandson opened the tube and smeared it all over the counter and mirror lol. Now, I'm finally getting around to buying more dye for the bottom of my hair, after reconditioning it after a stay in the hospital and using their shampoo. We shall see!!! Fingers crossed!!

    That color remover, it didn’t lighten your natural hair you said. Do you know if it was because your hair is darker? Or is it formulated to only lift dyes? Color oops lightens both & I’m steering away from it because I desperately want to lightening my ends to get back my blonde without ruining my roots

    Couldn't help but notice how excited you were in the beginning of your video and then BOOM! The moment you got the hair color you wanted your entire vibe changed.. it is clear you didn't like the color you got and to me it looked super pretty. I hope the people on your life didn't say something stupid to kill your happiness. Don't listen to people who don't have the manners to shut their mouths. Their opinions are damaging and as hard as it is to do (I have to try this every day) WE ARE SUPPOSED TO NOT CARE WHAT OTHER'S THINK AND GO WITH WHAT OUR HEART WANTS. YOU ARE SMART AND CLEARLY BOLD AND I ADMIRE THAT SO NO MATTER WHAT YOU SMILE AND WEAR YOURSELF PROUDLY.. no matter what. Only a complete idiot would have anything negative to say about what you did. HAHA JUST LISTEN TO MY OPINION HAHA YOU'RE A GORGEOUS GAWDESS. OK THE END.

    Did you use 50/50 of both Wella toners or a bit more or less from one or the other toner?

    • @SonnySketch
      @SonnySketch  4 роки тому +1

      I used the same amount from both wella products

  • @karimak8977

    What did you use afterwards ? To maintain the grey

    • @SonnySketch
      @SonnySketch  4 роки тому +6

      I kept the cool grey tones from going brassy by using special shampoo and conditioner. I forgot the name of the breand I got from sally but I tried one from there I could buy in a large bottle and then also trid DryBar from Sephora. The Sephora Dry bar worked better I feel but also was more expensive.
      As my roots began to grow in, I tried to do a root touch up with a simplified process of bleaching and toning the roots.
      This might have been a mistake. It worked for one touch up but a few months later when my roots were a couple inches or dark hair again I tried to bleach the roots and ended up bleaching more than just the roots. Its very hard to do a root job on yourself when doing the back/under layers without it bleeding onto the already bleached hair.
      I will be honest when I did the second root touch up I wasnt as careful and i ended up processing hair that had already been bleached. This caused lots of the hairs to become dry and have breakage down the road. And this lead me to shaving the other side of my head also (because it was broken and uneven)
      I don't think the initial process shown here was too bad for my hair, but the work in maintaining the roots without killing it all is very difficult and it is understandable now why many people do a black to grey ombre look from the roots to the tips.
      I know this isnt the most inspiring comment response but I hope the honesty can be useful in your own hair journey

  • @merlyrush7701
    @merlyrush7701 4 роки тому +1

    How was the maintenance...did you continue using the same toners?

    • @SonnySketch
      @SonnySketch  4 роки тому +2

      maintaining the colour on the length was not difficult, I tried a few different shampoo/conditioners that were purple and made for blonde hair, to help reduce any 'brassyness'.
      It did go downhill when the roots started to show more and after they were like 2-3 inches I tried to make them grey/silver also, because i was doing it myself and ended up getting bleach on already lightened parts. :(
      But maintenance on the length was easy and just purple coloured shampoo that was meant for blonde hair.

    Hey there, I am on this journey myself right now, currently finished the first bleach! One question, did you use the entire bottle of the O50 additive with the T14? I've watched a million videos and no one specifies, now, no one said they used only half or another amount so I'm assuming the entire bottle was used but you know the old saying about assuming haha Thanks for the help!!!! - Fernando

      No, my hair is not naturally black, it is naturally a very deep brown. I DID have darker colour on it at the beginning of this transformation. The Color Fix by One n' Only was to help lift the darker colour off first

    I am 60 been diying my hair red i so confused bc im ready to go grey ....i dont know if i should cut it as short as i can ....i cant jjst keep my short bob and look at grey growing out...whst can i do?

    • @SonnySketch
      @SonnySketch  3 роки тому

      honestly, I'm not a hairdresser or professional so Im not sure the best method for this.
      But to speak from experience my mother is around your age and she's been trying to grow out her grey hair this year. Its been hard because she has a short hair style too. I know she took the pandemic as an opportunity to try this now since social distancing and all has shut down a lot of social events so less people would see the transition.
      You could try something like this to set the entire head as grey before letting the natural grey roots grow in. It would be a dramatic change at first but then you wouldn't have to deal with the transition period.

    I did the same thing as you, let towel dry. However the next day I used the Titanium Permanent color (2!) and no colour at all took to my hair. None! The following day I used what you did, the T 14 toner with the 050 additive, and again, nothing has set on my hair!

    • @SonnySketch
      @SonnySketch  5 років тому +1

      The Witch of White Tail Hollow none took at all?!? Hmmm I’m not a professional and had to do a bunch of research before trying this method myself so I’m not sure what could have gone wrong.
      In touch ups after my original colour change I did play around with the titanium and chrome colours and the titanium is a darker grey, I’m surprised it didn’t leave any mark.
      Or at least would have thought that the toner and additive would have effected it.
      I’m not sure what else to suggest, I’m sorry that this method didn’t work for you.
      All I can suggest is giving your hair a few days to rest before trying anything else? That way if it was too much for it to take it won’t be overkill on your hair

      @@SonnySketch Yes, I did my due dilegence with regards to what I was doing. I was as shocked as you are. So this morning I bought Loreal Feria S1 in Smoky Silver and it has taken out all the yellow! I only left it on for 30 minutes, and the instructions say 25. But I did a strand test, one side being the T14 and 050, and the other being the Feria. Again, nothing on the T14 side, but I could see a change in the Feria. No doubt, to get a good color one must take your hair up many levels, but I was as shocked as you. But all is well! No worries. Just thought I would mention in just in case someone else encounters the same.

    Your roots are "Virgin hair", and that is the true color of what your hair should have turned out to be. CUT and trim hair...it grows faster when you do. The underneath color is great. Too bad the outside of the hair was a fail.
