When Greg put the guardian of faith next to Endelyn, does that mean that if she tries that 10% endless possibilities thing again, will the guardian then swing at every one of those possible Endelyns that runs past him?
Yeah I was wondering that to! Because in theory it will be THE BEST counter to that spell. Guardian of faith will do 60 damage before he disapears and if he swings at the "fake" hag it shouldn't count as damage. So based on that she can't do that anymore. Unless spell doesn't end even if the real hag gets hit
I think so. I think that the Guardian can hit and will deal a set damage on a hit, but considering she removes the possiblity, and not her trying of it, I don't know, I hope that's the case because I really want Guardian of Faith to work out for Greg.
I was thinking with most of the futures concentrated on one spot he should have started the fight putting the guardian there. Cos if she wants to be there we don’t want her to be. And the guardian might’ve been enough to cancel those plans
It would strike at all of them, but none of the damage would occur until she actually did move. Thereby, even though it swung at every possible future, it actually swung at only one of them. The problem becomes if the hag refuses to move, but if she does, then Bodger hits each turn with his retaliation. Bodger's damage versus the damage from the guardian for moving and being free. As for it doing 60 damage, no it does not necessarily do 60 points of damage, but it should guarantee one hit, which is 20. It means that between the two she is guaranteed to take 20 points of damage assuming that Bodger hits with his retaliations, but only for one hit because the guardian cannot be moved. She moves, she gets hit by the guardian for leaving his space. She doesn't move, she gets hit by Bodger, but he can retaliate for each of his turns. It pays for the hag to move.
I have grown to love Gareth a lot I hope he becomes a playable character later on. Or gets a big role in the story. He most become a Canon character in the D&D World Series ❤️

Okay, now here is some thoughts about killing Endelyn: 1. She is meant to die when an eclipse happens. Would it be meta gaming to know that? On the one hand, no, that wouldn’t, because during Ewolin encounters Rob gave them a hint with a guy in prison who ended up there because he said about arrows covering the sun and Endelyn saw it as an attempt to murder her. But, on the other hand, yes, it would, because they didn’t actually understand it. So, I guess it’s up to Rob if it’s metagame or not. 2. There’s no eclipse at the moment of a fight, so they need to create it. Either it could be an imitation of it (like using projector or something similar which might not work but this is one of the possible options), or it could be the real eclipse. If it’s gonna be the real eclipse, then we have two options how to do it: either Greg could use godly intervention and ask gods about the eclipse (10% chance of working), or they could use wish that Zabylna gave them to make an eclipse happen (100% chance of working). And also with both options they could just ask about making Laethil redeemable, which is an actual purpose of killing Endelyn, but I guess that wouldn’t be that interesting.

It seems to be specifically for the preview that it's unsynced - the greenscreen scene afterwards is fine and I didn't notice anything during the episode itself - I tend to watch their faces a lot because of audio processing delay.
I imagined Bob hiding down stairs, and when he found a hideyplace, there was a few versions of the hag there already and he had to ask them to make some room.

3:20 The one time greg could cast guardian of faith and it would be usefull with all that movement around and to limit the space, and he chooses to not do it 😆
During the cutscene when Bodger thought he had killed her in one shot, I love that her face totally said: "even I could not have foreseen this level of stupidity!"
Is that rare for people to do? I'm used to that being pretty common. They are after all words with those functions, even if they're rarely used together with those functions.
I am just picturing the green screen for the arrow flight with OBVIOUS string tied to the arrow suspending it, the bow with no string, the arrow making jerky movements as it weaves (I do believe it is technically more like oscillates) its way then the camera pivots to rob as he is dressed as the hag, then zooms into his face as "she" just sighs and says "oh shit... I should have remembered seeing that coming" and a wet splat sound. Then the camera pans down to rob obviously holding the arrow against his chest like it is sticking out of him.
Bob may explode enemies from the inside, but Greg seems more the Dark Urge character in this series. Complete with the surprised/shocked reaction at what he’s done after the fact.
Imagine if Endolin did only have 25 HP, and she compensates for it with her powerfull spells. And the only reason that she didn’t die from a 25 HP attack is because she predicted that she wouldn’t die today.😂
Pretty interesting how the hag got to use a modified version of Foresight. Normally it takes a minute to cast and lasts 8 hours, but this one seems to be cast in an action but last only a minute. Cool
The thing about being able to see the future is that you can pre-prepare the start time of a long-running cast to make sure it's done at _exactly_ the right moment!
I like that Rob kept it highbrow in describing the challenge as one of quantum physics and probabilities, I was hoping for an erudite discussion leaning into electron sp1 orbitals and thinking of multiple Brian Greenes jogging all over the place. However. For BatD, it likely made more sense to describe it as the Nest of Cockroaches problem: you disturbed the nest and they are now scattering everywhere and you are flailing to hit just one of them and several are crawling up your leg in panic but most of them are escaping.
Given Bob's bad luck and bad habit of dropping to zero HP at the start of the campaign, I can completely understand him using the weapon that keeps him out of the Danger Zone! 😛
@@eggstirminator The problem is adding sneak attack on a roll you were asked to make with disadvantage. If it cancelled out, and he attacked without disadvantage, then he could add sneak attack to his attack and use his token to crit. BUT, as it was rolled, meaning with disadvantage, even if he used his token to hit, he shouldnt have crit with sneak attack but just his shortbow, which would have made for a measly 1d6+11 Damage
yup I thought the same thing lol. I think that technically it would be a normal roll tho cause the disadvantage is cancelled out by the advantage from hiding. However you need to actually have advantage to sneak attack so it still wouldn't proc.
Rob is an amazing DM, and the interactions between all the guys and him is amazing. This is no shit my favorite show, going to deal with real depression when you guys eventually end the campaign..... Haha
BOB MVP! 😆 Also, Endelyn is so fucking cool, she's my favorite hag, but they're all such cool characters and well-designed, the fights with them really are campaign highlights, well done, Rob!
Wave function collapse is specific to the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics, which is, in particular, doesn't propose a mechanism _behind_ wave function collapse. There are other models of quantum physics which are deterministic, such as Bohmian mechanics (which was initially thought to be disproved, leading to the Copenhagen interpretation's adoption as convention, but then that disproof was disproved, but now the damage has been done). But people are largely uncomfortable with the prospect of determinism, and many people avoid it for that reason, unfortunately.
That’s a badass line right there. That being said, what with being able to see the future and doing deals with the Sylwyns, Endelyn has probably heard of Kelothac
@@ajaypanhani5350 I was more thinking because the Sylwyns worship the dark lords, so Dave probably told them about Kelothac. Come to think of it, that means Bonecaller has been playing both sides - Working with Laethil in his master plan while presumably still obeying the dark lords. Hopefully that aspect gets explored when the Misfits meet him and we get to see whose side he’s really on.

Bob is still using the original normal shortbow, right? that 74 damage should have been halved, since at 15:24 Rob indicates she's resistant to non-magical damage also, Rob, please, drop a magic longbow for Bob - Ben is never going to figure out on his own he can buy and use a magic bow (much less a longbow as an elf) it's just not fair that Bodger has a +3 hammer and Bob has a normal bow at level 14
Something I realized from the recap was that this campaign has had a lot of killing, which is interesting to me because robs campaigns normally have a plethora of dialogue and interactions. I see them concluding this campaign in style with an awesome battle, working on the girls campaign for a while, conjoining them for some REALLY cool battles or interactions, and then I suspect that the guys next campaign, presuming it will happen eventually, they will probably have a very story centered campaign with a lot of dialogue and subtle interactions. Man, what an interesting position you have put yourselves in. I'm excited for whats to come, the guys have come along way in their D&D skills since the beginning of this campaign!
he just said she could use a 9th level spell which makes me think she is the one that made confusious snow copy. and I think this endolyn is also a snow copy which is why she thinks that she won't die.
Watching them almost forget about holy weapon immediately after casting it filled me with anxiety. What a rollercoaster of emotion those 5 seconds were.
nice explanation! Rob is so hardcore, Greg facing an existential crisis just now at this time after only knowing farming Garlics, anywhere in the campaign where the 4 of them can reclass or upgrade class - Ben can up his class to Assassin from rogue to boost his luck further if you are using like from LORE

During the cutscene when Bodger thought he had killed her in one shot, I love that her face totally said: "even I could not have foreseen this level of stupidity!"
I love that Rowan causauly says 'Oh [we need to add] the extra holy shit.' turining a profanity into a noun + adjective.
Is that rare for people to do? I'm used to that being pretty common. They are after all words with those functions, even if they're rarely used together with those functions.
It would be an noun. ( gods shit ) lol if you believe in that sort off thing
Rob explaning math to the guys very much reminded me of myself talking with managers at my work... same "wtf is he talking about" face expressions
Baradun is such a high level sorcerer he can speak with his mouth closed in the outro! Awesome MAGIC skills at play xD
28:21 . Kelothac drives the arrow deep into the hag, then tales BoB away for a celebratory pint till his next turn in a wee realm bar somewhere .
So proud of Ben. Years of suffering finally paid off!
Seems like the ready action would be a great friend during this fight.
22:43 conversation with the god that he could have asked the Divine for the Guardian to Move Freely
☝️😁👍
**paycuts for everyone**
Ahh, good to have Lorquin back 🤩
riiiiiight at the very end
Bob may explode enemies from the inside, but Greg seems more the Dark Urge character in this series. Complete with the surprised/shocked reaction at what he’s done after the fact.
Greg becomes the first dark cleric 😂
Right after Bodger killed the hag he went and sorted out that whole Laethil business.😂
As a quantum physicist, I like the way he explains complex quantum behaviour.
Oh good! Thanks!
New episode *and* a quantum physics lesson? Oh boy!
Edit: _And_ an archery lesson too!?
4:35 Ben:"Oh 🤬 Me!"
Rob:"No... That is not an action!"
😂👍 Way to stand up for yourself Rob👽
Imagine if Endolin did only have 25 HP, and she compensates for it with her powerfull spells. And the only reason that she didn’t die from a 25 HP attack is because she predicted that she wouldn’t die today.😂
Pretty interesting how the hag got to use a modified version of Foresight. Normally it takes a minute to cast and lasts 8 hours, but this one seems to be cast in an action but last only a minute. Cool
Hag magic be weird.
The thing about being able to see the future is that you can pre-prepare the start time of a long-running cast to make sure it's done at _exactly_ the right moment!
Rob that is such a cool design for a boss, great immersion and coherent overall !
Thank you!
It always amuses me that BOB has magical masterwork short swords and has barely used them since he got them. He primarily uses his basic shortbow.
Given Bob's bad luck and bad habit of dropping to zero HP at the start of the campaign, I can completely understand him using the weapon that keeps him out of the Danger Zone! 😛
Robert:
"Attack with Disadvantage"
Also Robert:
"Add your Sneak Attack"
Me:
"Wait a Minute, those two things dont go together!"
He was hidden so the disadvantage should have cancelled out, unless her perception was 25 or more.
I mean even if there was a mistake, Ben was prepared to use his hero token to make it succeed
@@eggstirminator
The problem is adding sneak attack on a roll you were asked to make with disadvantage.
@@thedeltastrat It would because Bodger was in Melee range of his Target
Kudos to Rob's explanation of Heisenberg indetermination principle and Electrons superposition of states, it was pretty good
Rob is an amazing DM, and the interactions between all the guys and him is amazing. This is no shit my favorite show, going to deal with real depression when you guys eventually end the campaign..... Haha
Thank you so much!
9:41 Baradun got 1 psychic dmg and didnt roll concentration check for the dragon
I can picture the buffering circle on everyone’s face while Rob is trying to explain again the ability the hag used 😅
Rowan 200 episodes in with regards to attacking "ahh I see how this works now"
BOB MVP! 😆
Also, Endelyn is so fucking cool, she's my favorite hag, but they're all such cool characters and well-designed, the fights with them really are campaign highlights, well done, Rob!
Thanks!
Bob did a thing! And he got some triumphant music, which he totally deserved after so many Bob-rolls.
Considering her reaction to a simple spotlight, I wonder what will happens if Greg uses Continual Light as an AoE spell…
Greg feeling physical discomfort with the amount of responsibility he faced was such a vibe.
That was acted out sooo well. I feel you, Greg
Bob be like: Kelothac sends his regards!
Endalyn: Who?
Bob: you're about to find out.
That’s a badass line right there.
That being said, what with being able to see the future and doing deals with the Sylwyns, Endelyn has probably heard of Kelothac
@@rorybutler7961 true. Very true. They probably knew of kelothac when Leathil went to visit them
@@ajaypanhani5350 I was more thinking because the Sylwyns worship the dark lords, so Dave probably told them about Kelothac.
Come to think of it, that means Bonecaller has been playing both sides - Working with Laethil in his master plan while presumably still obeying the dark lords. Hopefully that aspect gets explored when the Misfits meet him and we get to see whose side he’s really on.
@@rorybutler7961 that also.
I genuinely cheered for Ben/B.O.B.'s great turn. Dice gods owed him that.
I've never seen anyone play barbarian better than Rowan. Nothing about the class is as easy as it seems like it would be-- especially the role-playing part -- but Rowan is always pitch-perfect.
We missed the radiant dmg on the last hit 😢
28:28 -He disappeared like Chris Farley in Beverly Hills Ninja!
I could imagine Baradun using a permanent image of himself to use a fresnal lantern (thing directed at comedian to focus light on them) since she screamed the last time they did it
for anyone curious, the Nic Cage movie is 'Next', and it's personally one of my favourite Nic Cage movies (bonus points for also starring Peter Falk (aka Columbo))
lol, i think it was Lord of war. hence the scene with the slow motion bullet and Adam's slip of the tongue ' god of war'
@@mikeglasswell-gameplay nah, that's a completely different Nic Cage movie where he's an arms dealer. They definitely meant Next, cos he can see a few seconds into the future and can determine the best path to take, and make it so he can dodge bullets.
@@RicPendragon interesting theory, but i doubt its that, they were talking about following the arrow, like the bullet in lord of war . I'll ask adam what he meant next time I see him, and find out for us both.
Bob is still using the original normal shortbow, right? that 74 damage should have been halved, since at 15:24 Rob indicates she's resistant to non-magical damage
also, Rob, please, drop a magic longbow for Bob - Ben is never going to figure out on his own he can buy and use a magic bow (much less a longbow as an elf)
it's just not fair that Bodger has a +3 hammer and Bob has a normal bow at level 14
I'm excited for whats to come, the guys have come along way in their D&D skills since the beginning of this campaign!
i did not expect to get an explanation about quantum wave collapse in the first 3 minutes
he just said she could use a 9th level spell which makes me think she is the one that made confusious snow copy. and I think this endolyn is also a snow copy which is why she thinks that she won't die.
You dont pray enough..... you only pray when you want something had me in stitches
A lot of mechanics for Rob to remember, but this is a top notch encounter so far!
Thanks!
@@RobertHartleyGM No, thank you. You inspire me to set the bar higher for encounters I design for my campaign.
This fight is making me think of the movie 'Next' with Nicholas Cage, at the end when he fully uses his powers.
200 episodes still having rob play their characters
2:50 I could listen to Rob explaining quantum physics for an hour.
Loved the quantum physics lesson. 😅
*indecisive horse noises* 😂
Watching them almost forget about holy weapon immediately after casting it filled me with anxiety. What a rollercoaster of emotion those 5 seconds were.
nice explanation! Rob is so hardcore, Greg facing an existential crisis just now at this time after only knowing farming Garlics, anywhere in the campaign where the 4 of them can reclass or upgrade class - Ben can up his class to Assassin from rogue to boost his luck further if you are using like from LORE
I really wish greg used his "wish" ability and ask the gods to get rid of all her possible futures which she lives.
Alan: *Converts to a cleric because the party needs a healer*
Also Alan: *Never casts a healing spell*
I’m just waiting for them to remember holy weapon damage. When Bodger did the last attack at the end.
Wooh another Thursday comes along and brings my favorite show with it 😊
76 damage then......Batbobbed away.... 🦇
The dragon adjusts the arrows flight as it travels by.
Damm, Rob knows his quantum physics 😮
Maybe just a little
You know I have been realizing lately, that there needs to be even just the slightest of background music or something. The silence sometimes kills me, ironically sounds weird XD
Sometimes when Rowan doesn't have a script with words written for him to say, he just makes various sounds that sound like they could be words. It's like his lips are broken. I'd hate to be the person doing the captions. lol
Greg need to learn that he has spiritual weapon!! He literally uses guardian of faith like spiritual weapon
Loving this part of the adventure. great job all.
Also, you've mentioned budget for the SFX a few times now, fancy doing an episode breaking down how the cost of that is all calculated? Would be really interesting to understand what you have to consider and some of the skill involved. Thanks. xxx
I love this series, I have watched since episode 1! But man it kills me how long the lads take to take a single turn 🤣 I end up skipping most the episode out of mild frustration 🤣
It literally took them one round to forget about the holy weapon, come on guys :D
The frenzied attack, Rowan says with the radiant damage, so he didn't forget. I thought he did too, which is why I watched the scene again. I was wrong.
Why do I feel like the TechTown shirts were in fact someone accidentally adding too many zeroes on their order for costumes? :P
Never would've thought quantum physics would come up in d&d
Bob hides in plain site, Endyln says "must of been the wind"
Bob hit with that attack though. He should have saved the auto-crit for when he doesn't hit.
B.O.B. Is the goat! i couldnt tank when Rowan said he was useful 🤣😂
