I think there’s a big misconception between having a “personal style” and “a style”. Your personal style will go along your personality, who you are, how you behave and not only how you dress. When I hear people saying they’re mostly inspired by Instagram, wear aj1, into streetwear and trends I see nothing personal in that (and there’s nothing wrong about it)
Derrick had such a great point, borrowing from different aspects in your life is such an important part of having an authentic style and makes it more fun when it’s something you truly love
I'm no huge fashion icon like these guys on this video could be considered fashion icons. However I love fashion, always have, always will probably. I grew up poor so trying to find my personal style (there's a difference between style and personal style) was a hard task, little to no money. The older I got, the more money I stacked back to buy better pieces. I feel the best way to find your style is to honestly just explore. We all have flops and embarrassing trends we loved. I used to love hypebeast style back when that was popular, looking back those outfits were HORRIFIC. Now I love vintage and streetwear. Cargos, cardigans, etc. Find that center sweet spot that fits you. Not everything you can pull off, not everything is gonna look good on you. It's okay. Again, find that center sweet spot between all the styles that inspire you to create your own personal style! *Side Note:* I love your content Drew! You seem super chill to just talk to and I can appreciate that. Great content keep it up!
All very great answers. I think everyone is still a student of the culture. Constantly finding and evolving your style is one of the best things to see in a person
Honestly your videos are really helping me develop my style. I’ve been dressing in a vintage vibe for some months now & upon finding your channel you propelled me to dive deeper into this style. I like how you pull it off
It's amazing when you finally settle on some vibes you really resonate with, from there it's much more about thinking about the finer details and patiently waiting to find items that fit the vision(s), simply nailing those vibes is the bottom line for me. It feels satisfying when you see something and realize it'll incorporate into a staple personal style, whether it's right in the same lane or a twist. I love my wild cards, but it feels great to have a staple style that is flexible yet cohesive. One amazing aspect I lucked out on is that my main style is incredibly modular, I have many ways to layer certain pieces I love and have in many colors, giving me so many color palettes and way to color-block them. With my oversized boxy zipper hoodies, even some of the tees/shirts/sweaters etc. of which the fit didn't suit me now look great with the zipper slightly up to roughly where a suit jacket opens up. Little cheatcodes like that let you incorporate many more items into the styles you love, always keep an open mind and don't rush to throw stuff out if it doesn't immediately work out. Think about the problem you're having and see if maybe expanding your wardrobe or just using it differently is a viable solution.
I look to channels like Gentleman’s Gazette to create elevated and mature outfits. Outfits like chinos, button up shirts, coats, and resole-able shoes/boots. And my casual days are more along the lines of simple but timeless with jeans, retro trainers (Onitsuka/Veja)
Sometimes I lack the confidence to wear what I like or doubt a certain style will fit my aesthetic. It’s experimental. I feel we’re always trying to find our style even tho it might fit into certain categories
A ton of places! I’ll have more beanies in the fall through Edward Joiner. Bricks and Wood has good options Druthers NYC has some I think You can always go the Nike or adidas route or even carhartt Ummm that’s a few haha

I think you need to take some of their advice because your style is almost nonexistent.
