Wow... on a stock wheel base bike that is VERY VERY good... an H2R will not even come close on the 1/4 mile. Amazing that a 10,000 dollar almost stock factory machine will kick absolute ass on any multi-million dollar hyper car, on the drag, on the track, or on the street... love the '14, those motors are absolute beasts.
This is a stock wheelbase bike with zero internal modifications. All bolt on parts. It takes an awesome rider to do this on a stock wheelbase bike. Stretching it removes the level of skill needed to duplicate that number.
Looks like the bike is lowered, probably slightly taller gearing (Kawasaki recommends this to take use of the midrange), and probably a tune with slip ons. Very nice to see that a non stretched bike can hammer 8.9s.
I was actually told by a veteran drag racer that greenhorns do that. It's not actually a good thing to do. You heat up your tires and have sticky rubber on them, when you do a pre-launch, you sling it all off. You should burn out, roll up and stage and launch with the full sticky on the tires. I'm sure some will disagree, but I've never done it and see no gains, only a loss. Not to mention it's just extra stress on your vehicle/bike that is not necessary.
Well Teron Babbage is one off Louisville's best riders...he has been around for quite a while. If I had a bike that I wanted to see good nummbers on....he would be my man also. Teron has what I call "the golden left arm" ...nobody slides a clutch like him. WTG guys on the 8.99 pass Teron needs to have that arm framed! Been watching him since he was a kid....he can just plain ride!
Yeah I agree with the stress part of it, not sure if they can actually sling the rubber off of the tire though, although I've heard of centrifugal forces pushing the loose bits towards the center.
Without stretching the swingarm that bike takes skill to keep the from end down without help. I'm going into my 2nd year (raced 3 times total) with my 11' Zx14r and it's hard to get off the line quickly with the wheel base being so short.
ur suppose to.. in drag racing there is a 1 foot roll out before u cross second beam that starts time.. u launch on last yellow to by that .5 sec when the green light comes on ur crossing the yellow.. Ur time from the green light lighting up and u crossing the beam to start the time is ur reaction time..
I've never seen someone do the "practice launch" before the start, is there anything more to that like warming the clutch at all or is it just a warm up for your hands?
finally shifted her right ,clutch sounds lil weak though id put in some heavy clutch springs,or a new clutch .i left out the first two seperator spring plates that push the clutch apart
Thank you greg quillen for explaining to these noobs how the tree works !! Jesus ppl if you dont know how the timing works ask.... Don't comment he cheated.... You leave on the last yellow. Drag strip noob lesson1. Or leave on the green if your racing me ill take the spot every time😁
+sandoz man The clocks start when you leave (therefore, no "cheating"), has zero to do when the green light comes on, many pro riders/drivers will deliberately at times sit on the line to get a perfect launch during qualifying rather than trying to cut a perfect light.
+MerlinxPV I don't think you got my comment. Someone said he cheated cause he left on the yellow. ... You always in competition leave on the last yellow to get a tight reaction time. If you cut it too close you red light. If you wait for the green your reaction time will blow and your opponent will crush you. So I don't really get your comment either.
You just made my point (I agreed with you Sandoz man), if he "cheated" then there would be a red light, my point is the clocks start when the vehicle moves not on the green regardless of green or not, reaction time does not impact the ET was my other point by saying you may just sit there until you want to go which starts the clocks. Another thing, deep staging (if you don't 60ft well) may produce what appears to be a slower reaction time but in reality you are closer to the finish line by the length of the wheel rollout and may beat your opponent with a seeming slower run, you do however run a greater risk of red lights though.
in an article this guy was writing about a drag race school he went to.. He said that they said "cogs should be swapped with a momentary jab of the clutch and stab of the boot." So in drag racing u guys shift full throttle tap clutch.. not off throttle a lil to get next gear ( no clutch)???????
At 8,9? No it isn't stock, but I think internal mechanical mods are minimal. It'd have a pipe and a power commander, not sure what else. The main things you need, are to lower the bike right down, slightly long swing-arm helps, and get the launch right, make no mistakes.
@@johnjones5977 Yes, 8 years later, it still stands. The point was you can get pretty close to 8.9 with a ZX14 if you add a pipe and power commander, and a long swing-arm and a big tyre... You don't really need to do much of anything inside the motor to get that time, and that includes the standard clutch. My point, I think we're arguing the same side. I'm not sure why you pulled me up when you seem to be saying exactly what I was saying, all those years ago.
I did something similar once in a car and the guys standing there yelled at me. I don't look professional at all at the strip (mostly stock) so that could be one reason, but it seems it's kind of dangerous since a practice launch is right next to people/staff.
there are ghost videos while I am editing sometimes unless I make sure they are marked private, sometimes I fotget and you guys can see me working sorry. Thanks for subbing I will try to fix that.
If im not mistaken the this bike has the alien head full exhaust, power commander 5 with Brocks race map for race fuel and a Don Guhl ecu flash. Plus the oil used is Alisyn pro drive 21 less than zero with petron plus, Brock lowering links and strap kit and I think a non o ring chain and sprint race air filter. On race fuel the bike puts out about 227hp static on the dyno at the wheel. Plus the rider is just flat out damn good. And might way 160lbs suited,,, the rat...lol
@@johnjones5977 it does with the things I mentioned. Please take a few minutes to watch the series at brocksperformance that he did on a 2012 zx14r. Called the Louisville slugger. That way you can understand it better

Maverick60ft fuck yea 100%!

Maverick60ft
Stretched bike look so stupid anyway.
Ricky Gatson went 8.99 on an all stock 2012 zx14r , well he did remove the stock exhaust cans for the run, that's it.

nice runs but i got him on a stock motor 1340 busa by a tenth. 8.895

That kind of weight with that kind of speed, OMFG!
8 second quarters stock if you have a good rider, thats unbelievable. I never thought bikes would ever be this fast from factory, freaking amazing

We do it to make sure everything is working like it should be. Make sure tire hooks, clutch feels good etc.
is this zx14r stock? if so well damn done

for a big ass bike that riding position sure as hell looks comfortable to ride!
I am not a fan of that technique but a lot of guys do it that are better at racing than me so its up to you.
I believe its mostly stock, but you would have to ask Brock exactly what the mods are, I know its pretty basic.
ZX14R KING OF BIKES
that v-max was sick! and great zx14 btw
@axelfbomber no it doesnt. the timer starts when the light is green
Was that Brock Davidson in the other lane ?
i love the zx12r more :P
What a great bike!!

I'm so used to fighting with ppl on flipboard I must have been unconsciously defensive!
En-how, me too.

It depends on the rider, But the ZX14R is the fastest production Motorcycle in the world.

ZX 14 is a beast
Hehe bought a blue one just like that +minus the brocks stuff shes still stock+ shes a beast though.. anyone know about what rpm he's launching?
can you actually lower the bike for street use too ?
Love that blue...
How do you keep the front end down when launching i own a cbr1000, and i keep having that problem.
all i have to say is I'VE GOTTA GET ONE OF THESE!!!! btw 4 people are busa lovers
Then it is an amazing run. You're quite right.
quick Blue Streak
it still records the time correctly

The pre launch is clean off the tire
you should really try shifting before the rev control kicks in,try short shifting @9500,bet u chop off the et considerably
Bet you're wrong.
Most drag racers switch to an air shifter once they really start to go fast.
Is that stock?
Absolutely, ZX14R is a beast
what do you got??? bring some money...this kid will be collecting if ya want some Relliepooh100
보스닌자가 애기가됬네 ... 와... 멋지다
it's more likely that they're just remembering their timing. just like how people who play basketball have a routine for free throws.
yes
