@Josh Wolff - seriously? Engine rebuild alone would be worth $2k. Where on earth do you find someone to do the work that cheep? Or are you talking about DIY?
IMO Why not buy a Subaru Outback, CrossTrek, or Forester? I am assuming you only want a compact but the three aforementioned Vics have huge aftermarket support and parts available as “stock” replacements for original parts which are worth their weight in gold in remote locations. I.E Prelude calipers May be tough to get if you went further South. I am Toyota Loyalist bit of I had to buy Compact it would most likely be a CrossTrek Or Outback build. And both have aftermarket front bumpers that will accept a winch😉

I would love to refurbish my car like this. But really, I just want to overhaul the motor and drivetrain, maybe turbo charge it, which I hear can be done to great effect. What's that CR-V group you're talking about? I need to be a part of that, cause I worship the ground this vehicle treads on son
My mall runner crv has never been so jealous
super cool car. You did a great job equiping it,.
CRVs are better than Jeeps
Love it.... Gave alot of inspiration for my build. Love my awd CRV.
the a/t tires seem to a bit outsized even though it's on stock rims. looks good!
I'm surprised you don't have the dashboard clock. I've had my CR-V for over a year now, and it still surprises me that the clock was optional.
I did a clock delete
Josh Wolff Same here, I fixed the damn thing once, it started going in and out a couple of months later. I didn’t want to look at it anymore XD
Very cool crv. Road warrior for sure.
I have RD1 after lift. WONDERFUL CAR!!!
I sold 7 years younger car to buy my CRV and mod it.
Nice!
Wow that's an amazing build! Keep up the good work and you sir got me jdm street cred more than more!
Impressed with what your Crv can do ! Love my Honda !
1999 acura integra. New coolant hoses, new radiator, new radiator cap, new coolant. My temperature jumps up when stopped after driving for a few minutes, and then temperature drops back down to normal when driving. Fan is working all the time. Possible bad water pump, or bad head gasket? No oil and coolant mixing. Tried bleeding the coolant system again, coolant was splashing out onto engine bay like crazy. Thanks for any feedback.
I'd try changing the water pump first. Your radiator is good, not old and crusty? 100% sure it's bleed completely?
Yes new radiator. While bleeding the cooling system, coolant was splashing like a fountain. Turned out it was the water pump. Just sold the car today. $1500 in my pocket yee.
Came here for comments... not something totally out of the subject... try another vid.. wtf
great job! I love the power station ammo can!
might have to pick one of these up for a mountain car if my 02 forester s ever dies.
This is a good off road CRV!
That bad girl needs a small turbo for low end torque
Awesome! Has some cool features, looks like lots of fun on a trail.
This is the best CRV generation, much superior to the new ones today
Bought a 5 speed RD1 AWD as my winter beater can’t wait to mod it in the spring this is inspiration!
Awesome!
Well done, very nice build
This car is gonna last forever! You pretty much can just swap out the engine to every other B-serie motors for cheap. I've seen a complete LS and B20 swap for less than $1,000 with low miles.
Long block b20 are 500-600 all day. Depending on which year, low compression and high compression........ we paid $1k back in early 2000's...
Can you guys post a few resources on where to find these motors and/or transmissions? My '97 is at 300,000 miles and losing compression...i think. Regardless, I'd like to have replacements on tap should something catastrophic happen, cause I'm NEVER getting rid of this car, never!
@@mattmaffett5879 find a JDM motor importer near you.. shipping will kill the deal unless it free.... in California, theres plenty of shops.
@@mattmaffett5879 shops post them on Craigslist here in Cali....
You could find them on Facebook groups, junk, craiglist, eBay or Hmotorsonline.com dealers do charge a premium price
Great off-road toy 🧸 thanks 🙏 for sharing
this video doesn't have all the fancy videography stuff, but very enjoyable to watch for some reason! good work!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I have a 98 and I love it
So happy im buying a crv next week
I am too!
I like this. I have a '03 Highlander V6 4WD. Love to set it up like this
Do it!
Your crv is cool 👍.. I would like to know more about the rear brake conversion if you can make a video on that be great
He left the info in the video. It's a pretty straightforward process with the correct parts. 👍
This EXACTLY the setup I am trying to go for
👍
That's an amazing build, good catch John!
That is a nice CRV; what is the total out of pocket expenses for the engine, suspension, brakes and lighting modifications? No need for a snorkel, roof rack or awning. Thank you for your consideration and thank you for your service. Welcome to Texas!
If you are on a budget and look around for deals you could probably do everything you mentioned for under $2k
@Josh Wolff - seriously? Engine rebuild alone would be worth $2k. Where on earth do you find someone to do the work that cheep? Or are you talking about DIY?
@@mattmaffett5879 I'm not talking about having a shop do any of the work.
Giving me so many ideas for my 06 crv
IMO Why not buy a Subaru Outback, CrossTrek, or Forester? I am assuming you only want a compact but the three aforementioned Vics have huge aftermarket support and parts available as “stock” replacements for original parts which are worth their weight in gold in remote locations. I.E Prelude calipers May be tough to get if you went further South. I am Toyota Loyalist bit of I had to buy Compact it would most likely be a CrossTrek Or Outback build. And both have aftermarket front bumpers that will accept a winch😉
Nice ride and cool to see the SC tag. I grew up in Greenville and then spent 25 years in Berkeley County working before retiring up in Tryon, NC. I've been checking out the CRVs for gas mileage. I currently overland a Sequoia and it's great for room and ability, but she loves the gas. How do you do on MPG?
These are known for MPGs unfortunately. This one isn't mine but I've been daily driving my own 2001 sfor 5 years and it gets 21-22 consistently.
Looks awesome. What size tires are those? And how much lift do you need for them? I think the size suits the crv way more than stock
Greg Rawls is the crv god
I’m getting mine today ❤️❤️❤️
Nice!
That intro music is 🔥
🙏👍
I also have an RD1 1999 I love it but it needs alot of work.
Points at the led bar "It gives me extra visibility on night trails."
Installs a tint on the headlights.
Too be fair, the tints go very well with the rest of the car, and that light bar and other bulbs would drown out the headlights anyways
For adventure and off road,I trust my 2016 CRV AWD & my 2019 Honda CB500XA
👍
I love off-road crv’s!
nice--i like all the aftermarket things
The old ones are better than the new ones
Freaking beautiful my guy
Hello, it would not have been possible to remove the vvt acuator without the camshaft. you would have saved time and made it easier to loosen the 17 screw. I think. welcomes Zoli from Hungary
Just picked up a manual rd1 cr-v
oleyella85 thanks plan on keeping it long term project. Plan on making videos on it once winter is through here in Nj
Any use for the rear power outlet? Would be pretty cool to see what uses you could find for it. I've had 3 RD1 CRVs, finally decided to get a 06 SE CRV. Love those cars. Great in every way except for highway pickup when merging and gas mileage when going bigger tires
Not that I'm aware of. Maybe the owner can answer this.
Yeah 12v fridge
Fun fact
I ran into an older fellow that delivered Chinese food and flowers for a living
He purchased the very first Honda Accord offered in the us the year it was offered -
He was a Honda convert from that point onward
He happened to drive the crv
He / wife Had owned 3 or 4 due to space and ease to add and remove packages 📦
Claimed all exceeded 300,000 miles and one 500,000 miles with original motors
I asked him what his “secret” was -
He said :
“.....
Every OTHER time I go to jiffy lube 💀💀💀
for oil maintenance, I request they change the oil filter ..... “
🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔🙄 ....
Wow
Makes sense. 😁
Crv camping love it ❤❤❤🚚🚛
I like it. I wouldn’t change a thing. Except maybe one thing. That Air intake snorkel is unnecessary. Driving your car through 4 feet of water is always a bad idea and should only be done if all other options have been exhausted. It looks to me like it’s got to be restricting airflow.
Allows more air flow actually, but I agree it is a bit unnecessary. But so is trying to "overland" a Honda in the first place
Yeah the snorkel seems kind of silly
