“Some butcher…” IDK why, but the butcher line made me LOL. Cool video, Jonny!

Lol. It’s because we’ve all owned a car previously owned by someone who thought they were a mechanic.

Same thing with my days 69 Dart. The previous owner aimlessly drill holes in the floor pans and trunk pan.

Gees. Those guys shouldn’t be allowed to own a drill. Lol.

Hey Jonny, great meeting you at Spring Fling (Wing Fling lol). Good info and I’ll be trying that soldering iron trick next time for sure!

I just removed the BMW buckets from my 64 Dodge 440. They never seemed right, it was like sitting on a potato chip. I installed a TMI bench from Summit. Built risers and it bolted right up to original holes. Better now.

Might have been me on the soldering iron.....I know I have recommended it before. The ones with the bullet shape head work better and make a nicer hold.

Thanks for the tip Campbase, I was shocked how easy it worked. And yes, my soldering iron is a piece of crap, I need something better.

Same thing happend to my 74 Duster. Someone installed some random buckets and didn't reinforce the floor. Now I have a large crack to weld up.

I had that happen to my 69 Road Runner.

is that a vinyl carpet or poly carpet at least vinyl is more waterproof my Dakota came with one and the water stay on the floor for a few days and took a drinking cup to slosh it out and the floors stay fresh for since the windshield got replace and it keep leaking from rain for it happen about 11 years ago and there is no rot on the floor all thank to the vinyl carpet. Also the Dakota still leaks from a bad window seal since the DIY replacement matching windshield from a 1st timer at home for it. LOL.

I don’t know. I didn’t know there was different kinds of carpet. Don’t be too hard on your window installer, I’m sure he’s a good guy and meant well. Lol

@@JonnyMopar well the window installer is my lil brother. but it was a cold day at the time and outdoor back in 2012 but since then the floor still did not rot and holes it basically just stay fresh for some reason and the truck is a base model so it did not have any sealant or any protecting IDK how is that possible.

Hey Johnny - very helpful video - thanks for posting!
I'm getting ready to install new carpet in my '70 Roadrunner. Do I just cut a slit to slide the carpet over the accelerator pedal?
Also, is it important to use glue so the carpet won't move around...?
    Thanks so much!

Hi Van. I did have to cut a notch in the carpet around the gas pedal. No need for glue. The seats will be bolted through carpet keeping it from sliding around. Good luck on your bird.

@@JonnyMopar Awesome - thanks so much for your quick reply, Johnny!! Going to let my carpet sit in the sun today so maybe it will soften it up a bit. Been cold here in South Georgia until the last couple of days and now finally having some warmer weather. Thanks again!

Great video jonny you know there are dimples in the floor for the bucket seat tracks to locate for the drill to make the holes for OEM seats.... You modify the seat tracks you mustang moron!! Not the floor 😠 Lol... as far as reinforcement plates I make my own either out of plate steel or large thick washers and even use a hole saw and make any size I want....the sill plates have always bothered me screwing into sheet metal my latest mod for those is to use nutzerts that you can seal from the weather with some sealant on the body of the nutzert and on the treads of the screw.... Since I live in the northeast and I sometimes get caught in the rain..... Not a worry in sunny cali
