People keep talking about how Frogstomp copied Pearl Jam and Soundgarden (because no one else is allowed to play minor pentatonic scales in drop D) but the way the riff drives the song and Daniel's amazing voice really does set them apart as their own thing.
Rashad Choudhury I hate that, these guys did their own thing, considering they were 15 at the time of their first album. Daniel John’s has a voice like no other too bad they’re not together.
💯 % and Daniel Johns was/is a musical genius like no other. The comparisons annoy me as none of them compare to him. How many of them worked with David Helfgott and impressed Van Dyke Parks. Only Daniel 😻

Their new music is like a totally different world, I know. (Yet I still find all of their music addictive.) They're still alive. Sure, I like everything before Young Modern better, but if you love Silverchair at all, you support 'em no matter what. Daniel Johns' could sing the ABC's and I would listen.
In a lot of ways I miss the 90s way more than today, but no mobile phones has a MASSIVE downside, very easy to lose touch with friends without a mobile back then! I lost a few and took 20 years to find them thanks to social media...lol
Believe it or not kids but we did have cell phones and internet in the 90s. Just not like today. But who cares? Dont let the fact that everyone is addicted to social media get you down bud.

There was just something special about these kids back then. I just watched them perform pure massacre in Australia and man, they just killed it. Daniel John's voice was just so pure and awesome. I loved their Marshall amp guitar tone and how the drummer wasn't afraid of actually hitting the snare drum on frogstomp.
I don't blame him, really. It's all about the sound. Breaking guitars up was passe about the 20th time Pete Townshend (of the 60s band the Who) did it.

Oh, and "Diorama" & "Young Modern" are both fucking incredible. They're not only Silverchair's finest work (so far), they're two of the best pop-rock albums released in the past 10 years, and come very close to proving that Daniel Johns MIGHT be a genius (which is a word I don't throw around lightly). I like pop-rock. I also like grunge. I'm allowed to. From this vantage point, Silverchair are better at pop-rock than grunge. Way, WAY better.
This song above all on that first record is just way above what they should be able to write. My favorite SC song. The bassline, the main riff. the angry as fuck lyrics. Love it.
By far the best act post-main-big-4 of grunge. Silverchair evolved into a different version after the first 2 records; and it was amazing But a lot of people underrate how fucking solid Frogstomp and Freakshow were
I started going to concerts in 2000, just after the 1990s ended. One of my 1st concerts went to was Ozfest 2000 and Britney Spears. I wish I could have seen Britney Spears in the 1990s. I was a young adult still living with my parents.
People tend to forget that they were 15 years old when they made this album and no older than 17 in this video.

Well I mean the main dude did totally copy Eddie Vedder and Cobain's vocal style, but they were such a good band that was overlooked back in the day.
I don't even compare Silverchair to Nirvana, completely different band in my opinion.
