Diorama is an amazing album. Daniel Johns had a lot more than four chord rock progressions up his sleeve. I saw them live twice, once during the Neon Ballroom tour and later during the Young Modern tour. They just got better and better. I hope they get back together and record another Silverchair album. I love this band.
U can tell at the end solo he's got a bit of what you'd hear in The Dissociatives...I hear it anyway. Daniel Johns has always had his own uniqueness and i love that. Even back in the day when not"everything went"he still did and does his own thing.Good job mate.
I loved all their albums- but esp Frogstomp because it was my first band I listened to when I was young, and the fact that they won JJJ radio comp whilst still at school and then land on Letterman and travel round the world was exciting and proud to watch as an Aussie!

Freak Show is probably my favourite. I used to absolutely hate Diorama until I realised his early stuff was just him living in the moment. I think deep down he wants to do a Pink Floyd style band and do a The Wall or Tommy esque rock opera.

Kurt is more of an icon by all means, but as far as talent goes, Daniel is above kurt on all aspects, be it guitar, singing, lyrics. Well, during the 90's anyways lol. After freakshow I'm not really sure what happened. Kurt/Nirvana were just kind of what the music scene needed in the early 90's. As amazing as their stuff is, it is fairly simple, which doesn't make it any less good, I'd just say Daniel clearly had more talent. IMO anyway.

Lyrics tend to fall inline with we me as something that is relative. as in an entire generation was able to relate to Kurt's lyrics, and many with silverchair's as well. though for 14 years old, the content Daniel wrote about was pretty impressive. Kurt's were probably just more genuine and personal.
