2004-2005 was a great 9-5 year… I owned a 2000 2.3 manual, a 2002 2.3 vector automatic and a 2006 Aero. The 2002 comes closest to a 2004. Now happy NG9-5 owner with a very soft spot for the 2004 OG9-5😉
I picked an '04 Arc in Port Richey, FL, I think it was 2019 in a spur of the moment and drove it home to Maine. I honestly was thinking of just selling it once I got back since it is rust free and under 100k miles (should be an easy sell in the northeast) and it's automatic (I much more preferred a standard transmission AT THE TIME). Since then I have blown out my knees, one of which has been replaced, which has me thinking this Arc will be a perfect peppy summer ride with it being automatic. I drove it a couple of the first summers after I brought it home, tucked away in the winter, though I haven't touched it in 2yrs! Unless plans change, I will be going ALL through it once the new garage is up. I am thinking with some "bolt on's", exhaust, slight tune, this will be a really sweet summer cruiser for my near-retirement years. Saab... I was always intrigued with them (since back in the 900's era), but they've pretty much been off my radar. Well this generation 9-5 in my opinion is one of the best looking, solid built cruiser/sleeper "evah!"
It's funny how you in the States value manual transmission with these since your normal was auto. We had mostly manuals here in Europe, so we value AT in the same car.
I also own one, I need help doing mine, I have 215k and I can't afford paying for it, I want to do my own .. Love this car, my favorite car I've ever owned
