Dr. Foster, you have truly blessed me today! So few doctors even know about these conditions, yet so many women suffer from them lifelong-often leading to wheelchairs, hours of daily pneumatic pump treatments, costly 30-40 mmHg compression garments, and manual lymphatic drainage that most women end up paying for out of pocket. Thank you for sharing this valuable knowledge!
Glad it helped. I recently examined two women with terrible lymphedema, both very disabled, which is one of the reasons why I chose the topic of edema.
Dear Dr. Foster ~ Aw, I just saw this : ) THANK-YOU So MUCH !! It made my day ... I really didn't think you'd have a video on my 'request' so quickly ... I have ''learned much'' from what you've shared & as per your on-going thorough & professional style, this video also did not fail to deliver ! : ) Well executed & caring at the same time ... I appreciated your '''tip'' re: Take a Photo(s), I would not have thought to do that ~ Again, Much Thanks & Hope you Have a Great Weekend ! Most Sincerely, Cindy : )
You're welcome - glad it helped! I find photos can be helpful for problems that come and go, because the problems are bound to be gone or almost gone the day of your disability exam.
I have the pitting edema. I have dealt with this for the last 12 or 14 years. It has caused me to get cellulitis in both legs in 2016 and 2017. Everytime ive had blood work done, my kidneys are the only thing that comes back to not being normal. I had my disability exam 3 weeks ago....i tried to tell the doctor about it but he seemed like he didnt want to hear it. So i feel like it was a waste of time. I have drove a truck for the last 28 years and this health problem caused me to lose my job and insurance in april of this year and that turned me to filing for disability because if i dont kick my legs up atleast twice thru the day it really causes me to swell more than normal. I really dont know what else is next.....i first filed for disability around the first week of september.
Edema with recurrent cellulitis has a good chance of being approved for Social Security Disability. Did the doctor look at your legs and feet? If not, I would notify Social Security. If you are disabled, had an inadequate exam, and are denied, I suggest you appeal immediately. You can file an appeal online. There are many things that can cause edema, and without more information and examining you I can't comment on the cause.
@@DisabilityExams Yes he looked at my feet and legs....i tried to explain a few things to him but it seems like he just did not want to listen....kept saying he had all the info on his ipad in my medical info. Ive been in the hospital twice over the cellulitis....2016 my right leg done it and was in the hospital 6 days, 2017 my left leg done it and was in the hospital for 4 days. I told him im even afraid to shave my legs because any little scratch or sore ends up getting infected because of the up and down swelling. And another odd thing was when he listened to my heart he literally put the stethoscope on my chest for 1 second LOL the exam didnt last very long....i didnt know what was going on so i kept my mouth shut and answered his questions and let him do his thing.
