Xenoblade 1 had the most consistent story and twists
Xenoblade 2 had the best character dynamics especially with the main antagonists
Xenoblade 3 had the strongest theme with the endless now and aionios itself being a representation of what not letting go and not accepting can do
And of course xenoblade X had frickin mechs that you could fly with like what other xenoblade game let's you do that

I pretty much agree, honestly I could have just wrapped the X section up with 3 words "giant freaking robots!" and just called it a day there.
Personally, I'm a bigger fan of 2's theme, but 3's is REALLY good as well... they all are now that I think about it, but I really agree that Xenoblade 1 is probably the most consistent game in the franchise at least where the main story is concerned.

@@JMulls the only reason I think 3 had a greater sense of a theme is because the world and its system is literally built on the endless now and only because noah and mio chose to move on and accept the weight of life it finally got resolved but yeah I do think that every xenoblade and xeno game in general have absolutely fantastic themes especially 1 and 2

Xenoblade 1 is the best start to the Franchise.
X has the best overworld both in vastness and traveling.
2 had the best female character: Pyra and Mythra.
    3 had the team chemistry.

    • @potatofarmergyro1720

I pretty much agree, especially with Xenoblade 1 having the best start in the franchise. I could have easily talked about it here, but I've talked about it before, and if I had to pick between the two, I think the way Xenoblade 1 gave you that visual sense of progression is my favorite aspect.
Funnily enough, I think Pyra and Mythra are probably my favorite characters in the franchise just straight up... I'm trying to think of who else I'd put there. Maybe Jin, Rex, Shulk, Mio. It's hard to choose

I like the Xenoblade games for similar -ish reasons but I think the 4 Xenoblade games have different vibes to them. (Vibes in this context ranges from themes, to atmosphere to character arcs etc etc, kinda like how you would describe the 'feel' of Xenoblade 2 in the video)
Comparisons can be a bit iffy but it's the best way I can distinguish the vibes of each game with as much brevity as possible so bear with me.
Xenoblade Chronicles 1 has the vibes of a Square Enix game (makes sense given the Xeno series origins lol)
Xenoblade Chronicles X has the vibes of a Bioware game
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 has the vibes of a Mihoyo/Hoyoverse game
And Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has the vibes of a Bandai Namco game.
The fact that each game has these different vibes while still feeling like they're part of the same series is one of the many-many things that I can praise about the Xenoblade series.

    • @JMulls
      @JMulls  Рік тому +6

I really liked how you put that, how they can all have these different vibes and feels to them but still manage to feel like they are part of the same series is also one of the reasons I adore the series. I definitely get the comparisons you made, and now that you said X has the vibe of a bioware game, I can't unsee the Mass Effect feel it gives off. I play/played Genshin quite a bit and the comparison to 2 with a Hoyoverse game is shockingly accurate. Though personally it feels like a far more refined version of the vibe Genshin gives off, where you have this very anime aesthetic filled with big personalities and characters.
And I can definitely see some parallels in terms of tone and feel at certain moments between something like Xenoblade 3 with a souls game, especially the intro with the Colony 9 fight, for some reason it reminds me of that one scene from DS1 where all the knights of Anor Londo throw lightning bolts at the dragons. Obviously different aesthetics, but that overwhelming feeling of war and darkness is similar to me.

As an X fan it shows how starved I am when it makes me genuinely happy to hear someone at least acknowledge that there are, in fact, 4 main line Xeno games and not just 3 :') (so thank you for that!) But yes I totally agree, X's world and exploration and sense of scale are absolutely unmatched in my eyes, it's one of those games where I am just content to exist in. It really does feel like an alien planet, and the designs of the indigens are so freaking amazing as well
XC1 still has the best overall story in my eyes, it's just well done throughout the entire game (with the world also being part of it)
XC2 is hard for me to pin since I'm one of those people who didn't enjoy it that much, I honestly don't have any aspect where I can say I like it the most out of the series... it does have excellent music, but I love all Xeno music to death, so it's not an outstanding feature by itself. But I feel like I will have to replay 2 at one point, because every day it annoys me more that I seem to have missed something that so many people who love the game see. I should at least give it another chance I think!
XC3 I also totally agree, the characters are so amazing, the story has its ups and downs but the whole party just is so lovable, I enjoy every minute of their interactions.

    • @JMulls
      @JMulls  Рік тому +4

I never managed to finish X when I played it way back when, not at the fault of the game or anything, just other stuff came out, but I've been playing it on stream and just remembering why I love the game so much. Yeah it has some weird decisions here and there, but what the game does well... it excels at and it's world is probably one of my favorite open worlds I've ever played.
I completely get XC1 having the best story. It feels like this perfectly enclosed experience where it has an amazing (I'd argue best in the series) intro, an incredible middle bit filled with twists and turns, and a super satisfying conclusion that wraps up (especially with future connected) everything I wanted.
Xenoblade 2 for me may be my favorite, but I also stand by the idea that it is by FAR the most polarizing Xenoblade game. The art style is polarizing, the gacha mechanic is polarizing, the comedy is polarizing, the merc missions are polarizing etc etc, but the game came out at a time when the message really resonated with me and I just overall loved how the story draws you in with a bunch of tropes and build up this false sense of security, to then subvert all of that and tell a really human and emotional story. Torna the Golden Country 100% helps with re-contextualizing certain scenes, but I still think the base game is incredible as is, but I 100% get why some people just didn't like it. If you do end up giving it another bash, I hope you end up enjoying it 👍
Monolith are getting TOO good at character interactions and making me like characters immediately lol. I still think one of my favorite moments is Taion with the baby in the city. Just how they managed to convey the PURE joy from Taion and everyone there and helped showcase what they were all fighting for was perfect imo 🤣
Thanks for watching! I enjoyed reading your thoughts 🙂

@@JMulls hard agree!! X has ruined me in the way that it set such a high standard for open world design for me personally, so now it stands as almost impossible-to-beat competition for other games with big open fantasy/sci/fi-worlds xD (Also if you haven't finished X yet, you can look forward to the 4th continent in case you continue, it will probably blow your mind :D)
Yeah, I have to give it to 2 that it really surprised me with how well the story wrapped up, also in terms of tying it to 1 in a way that is satisfying. In the end, I can't hate 2 because it's the game that got most people into Xenoblade because it resonated so well with so many, so maybe that is my pick for its strongest aspect ^^
Oooof YEAH Taion with the baby just destroyed me, his voice actor just blows it out of the park with his performance, the way he conveys emotions is just so captivating and moving!! That scene particularly solidified Taion as one of my faves!

I've been to the 4th and 5th zone once before but I have mostly forgotten them except for the fact they are snow and lava based. Will be cool to check them out!
They gave so much time and effort to developing Taion as a character and I think they really pulled it off. His ascension quest as well is probably my favorite one. Easily one of my fav characters in 3

I feel like the scale of Xenoblade 1 is a very undertalked aspect, or at least in my experience, of Xenoblade 1. Having all those zones fit on the Bionis and Mechonis and giving them that sense of scale while seeing other zones above you or below, and realistically make sense for where they are on each respective Titan, is such a cool way to do visual storytelling.
      Thanks for sharing! 👍

    I would say personally it’s
XC1: Story. The twists, the turns, the arcs, best story of all of them.
XCX: Exploration. I’ve always said this game was BOTW before BOTW. Most of that games praise should’ve gone to XCX first. Skell Exploration is some of the best gameplay I’ve experienced from any video game ever.
XC2: COMBAT!! People gave this game such grief over how difficult to grasp the combat is but got damn! Once you get a full foothold of everything like driver combos, blade combos, fusion combos and the like… it’s becomes pure crack. I’m telling you. The combat in XC2 is straight nicotine.
XC3: Presentation! Anyone notice how flashy XC3 is? It’s a pure joy to watch. The slowdowns and on-screen effects when you break or topple, the chain attack splash screen and dynamic camera system, seeing Colony 4 in the distance when you climb up Rae Bel Tabeland or seeing the mouth of the Urayan Titan as you approach the mountain. And the cutscenes!! This game has better fight scenes than some of the best anime! Not to mention the godlike story, the music, everything is just presented so well.

What I loved so much about X's story was how it completely went against what I thought it was going to be. I thought it was just going to be a story of anime MC, the strong best friend, and the love interest going on a quest to stop the evil mechon... and then Fiora dies and Shulk along with Reyn go off on a revenge tour. Such a great story
The way X's entire world just feels so different when you get a Skell and you can reach places you couldn't see before is so incredibly engaging to me. I entirely agree, it's the blueprint for which BOTW was formed (I think Monolith worked on BOTW as well a bit but I could be wrong on that so don't take my word for it), but it completely explains why I love BOTW so much, because it's like XCX 🤣
XC2's combat is so incredibly fun that I never get bored of it. I'm pretty sure the entire lifespan of the Roman Empire was shorter than it takes for it to get going in XC2, but once you get all the pieces of the combat, it's just so fun. Jugging the elemental orb applications, the driver combos, going into blade combos and going for the elements you want and the effects you want, having Pneuma as a buffer if you want, then the chain attacks where you reap the benefits of all the orbs you just put on, it's such a rewarding gameplay loop that never gets old for me
And I think that's a great point on XC3, the presentation in that game is such a textbook example of how to make a game visually engaging. Even just the intro with the giant Ferronis' fighting and the camera panning from below. Just makes them seem so large and imposing, and really drives home how war torn Aionios is. I LOVED the fact the Urayan titan got bigger as you got closer to it in the early chapters, that was such a nice sense of visual progression as well. I think one of my favorite visuals though, is being in that desert canyon section and having Ethel's Ferronis just looming over you, such a great scene

The I like most about three, is that when you unlock the heroes, it takes the least amount of effort to make them the best they can be, compared to 2 where you have to do achievement styled stuff or x where you have to raise their affinity (which was so tedious). With the heroes, you unlock them and you can do quests as soon as you progress through the game.

    • @JMulls
      @JMulls  Рік тому +4

That on top of the acquisition just being a cool questline instead of gacha made me REALLY appreciate the hero system in 3. I still prefer how the driver blade dynamic was a focal point in 2's story, but the way the hero system was executed mechanically was such a breath of fresh air that felt like Monolith were learning from the past.
It made for a great progression loop, in unlocking a hero, unlocking them for everyone else and then leveling up that class to then get a new hero.

XCDE: Best Story & QOL Features. I think this game still has the best story of the series. I beat this game to 100% completion a couple years ago now but I still remember everything very vividly. Not only does it have amazing twists but I noticed this is the only game that doesn't seem to have a divisive ending. I've seen people express discontent with the endings of all the other games but XC1 ends its story so wonderfully. I also think that the definitive edition has the best QOL features in the series. The navigation system was perfect for both main story and side quests, plus we were actually able to lower our levels right from the start. I also really loved customizing the outfits of my party!
XC2: Best DLC & Best Ng+ mode. XC2 to this day has some of the best DLC I've seen out of any video game. Not only was the challenge battle mode great but we even got a customizable difficulty which lets us control how hard enemies hit, how much hp they have, etc. Plus, Torna the golden country is one of the greatest expansions ever. Most expansions are merely story expansions but Torna brought completely new gameplay mechanics which was incredible! I loved it so much that I completed it to 100% completion. XC2 also has the best NG+ mode in the series. Normally ng+ is just play the game again with items and levels carried over but XC2 actually gives a boatload of new content. We can even add some of the villains to our party!
XC3: Best gameplay & side quests. I LOVED the gameplay and side quests in XC3. The side quests were so well written to the point where I actually started to recognize NPCs while exploring and I'd remember their quests (I'll never forget the ultimate duo Dorin and Bambam 😂). I also loved the rewards that you would get for raising affinity with colonies. They weren't just useless items, they were actual passive benefits. Combat wise I loved how you could actually dash around while fighting. Not only could I position myself quicker but I was also able to dodge AOE attacks easier. The class system was an absolute joy and I never got tired of finding new classes. I think the only thing I'd change gameplay wise for XC3 is the length of the chain attacks but that's just a minor issue for me. I'm currently working on my 100% playthrough for XC3!
XCX: Best wildlife & exploration. I never really considered XCX to be a mainline title because of how different it is and it was always described as a "spiritual successor". That being said though I am absolutely baffled at how incredible the wildlife and exploration is in this game. I can't tell you how many times I approach something thinking it was an old ruins, plant, etc. and it ended up being an enemy LOL. Not only do we have a sprint button but we also have a really high jump, skells, and no fall damage! I'm genuinely sad that the other Xenoblade games don't have this level of exploration.

    • @JMulls
      @JMulls  Рік тому +2

The outfit customization and expert mode were such nice features for Xenoblade 1 DE that I wish they would keep those things in the other games lol. I really liked trying to get as much gear as I could in each new location just for the appearances to unlock. I kind of wish the ending had like maybe one more cutscene before the final cinematic, but even then, the ending does such an incredible job of wrapping up it's narrative and themes. Every character's arc felt fulfilling (I'm glad we had Future Connected for Melia because she was my only exception to that until I played FC) and the game just wrapped up beautifully. Plus Beyond the Sky is such a fitting song for the ending as well.
I definitely agree with XC2 having the best ng+, being able to use all your blades while grinding out their affinities is such a nice touch, plus the DLC blades are great lol. And I entirely agree with Torna, it's my favorite DLC/prequel ever, and the way it manages to recontextualize key events from the base game and make them even better... it's just so good!
I think what 3 gets so right is that it takes the lessons of the past to heart. "ok what worked, ok what didn't work.... ok let's keep what worked and change or remove what didn't", there's a couple exceptions here and there but it's overall such a satisfying sequel that feels like mostly the best parts of what I loved from the previous games. The chain attack system in 3 is... sooooo... freaking FUN. It's so close to XC2 for me for best gameplay because I love what 2 did with the elements personally, but 3 is fun in it's own way. And I entirely agree on the side quests, I think 3 had by far the best ones, and the hero quests were so well executed that it made the world feel bigger and really fleshed out the cast of characters, while always giving you something different to do to freshen up the experience, and the whole progression system is probably my favorite in the franchise.
I agree with Xenoblade X, for 4 and into the future, I REALLY REALLY REALLY hope they take more lessons in designing the overworld from Xenoblade X. Yeah it didn't sell as well as the other games iirc, but it was also on the Wii U. It has so many great ideas just waiting to be iterated and expanded on. I would LOVE to see a return of the Skell system in the future as well, such a great way to make you want to reexplore old locations just to see what you can do with the Skell. X is easily one of my favorite games to just run around in.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It was very interesting to read your opinion 🙂👍

XC1 - World, I just personally think it's the best out of them
XCX - Exploration, nothing can come close to Skell exploration
XC2 - Incorporating lore into gameplay or the other way around (such as scalvaging, Blades, mercenaries etc.) - only exception being Mythra's foresight, I don't like how that was handled

I think 3's storytelling is elite, you can just tell they took the lessons of the previous games and tried to do their best. That entire scene where Ouroboros first met, the desert, all the hero quests, ch 5 and 6, the finale. They did a really good job of injecting character into everyone

    For me,
Xenoblade 1 has the best feel of an epic adventure, the bionis and mechonis are incredible and the story is fantastic
Xenoblade 2 has the best characters relationships due to blades and drivers, and also the most beatiful places and the best cities, I love every titan with their unique theme and a huge city, it has also the best combat system and music
Xenoblade 3 has the best storytelling, that doesn’t mean it’s the best story ( I do like mor xeno 1 and 2’ story) but they didn’t put any cutscene or conversation unnecessary, and the endless now with the war is amazing. Also it has the best gameplay and the best implementation of the music in game
Xenoblade X has the best world and exploration with great graphics (considering it is running on a fucking wii U)

The fact that X ran that well on a Wii U of all things still blows my mind.

It's so hard to beat the Bionis and the Mechonis as a setting for a story, they were used dang near perfectly imo and gives a great sense of visual progression as you journey up and down those 2 titans.
I think one of 2's strongest storytelling devices is that Blade and Driver dynamic, the way it is utilized in the story itself makes for some fascinating interactions and consequences that really added to the story imo.

For me, Xenoblade 1 had that grand sense of adventure, which drew me in.
Xenoblade 2 had the most fleshed-out cast and the best character relationships. The game gave you more time to learn about the world and the issues surrounding it. The one that made you feel a variety of emotions.
Xenoblade 3 served as a culmination of the best elements of XC1 and XC2 mainly in terms of gameplay. Maybe not the best balanced but having access to every character was great.
Xenoblade X I haven't played it but would love to play it if they could get it on the switch.
Extra segment for Xenoblade 2. I would also say that this was the game where every scene mattered. Whether it was establishing character dynamics, foreshadowing, or giving more to a character in terms of their personality. It just gave a lot more depth. So many scenes have so much more meaning thanks to Torna. Especially when it comes to one very important character and relationship in base XC2.

Interesting take! I definitely agree that one of 3's best strengths is that it took a lot of what worked before and brought it to 3 whereas it left a lot of what didn't work behind.
I think especially with 2, it's like you said. Torna helped so much with that because it managed to recontextualize a lot of scenes and character moments to hit even harder with the development we got from Torna. Jin is one of my favorite characters of all time because of that extra development and so many characters gained similar levels of development. 2 nailed the pacing imo for what I personally look for in long form rpg storylines. Nailed every beat I wanted it to and didn't know that I wanted it to.

@@JMulls Jin, Mythra, and Malos all had their characters reach a bigger sense of depth, and even Rex thanks to Torna. I would have to say this is due to XC2 being a character-driven story. It was never about getting to the next big plot point but about understanding the characters and the world.
Thanks to Torna we know why Jin killed Haze because she stated that she wouldn't want to be Amalthus's blade. Plus Mythra's lack of a real driver/blade connection.

@@pokemon18ish One of Monolith's greatest strengths imo is that they have their methodology for making you care about the world. Draw your eyes in with these giant set pieces, but make you care about it through the characters, each game has these giant, larger than life set pieces, but you end up caring about them because of the characters because they are so compelling and the characterization in 2 just appeals to me greatly. It doesn't feel like the plot is advancing and the characters are just their to react, the plot advances because of the characters, it feels natural imo.
And exactly, with Torna, it re-contextualizes those key scenes and bits of dialogue and adds so much to them!

I feel the same way with X and the sense for exploration it gives. I've completed the game and have nearly 500 hours in it so there's not much left for me to do, but I sometimes get the urge to play it for maybe and hour or two, then I end up playing it all day. Even though I've seen just about every area of the game, I still find it very enjoyable to just run around the world and take it all in.

Thanks for commenting Dialga! I feel like that is the sign of an open world game being done correctly. Where you don't need a bunch of to do list esque objectives to artificially populate the world with activities, but instead rely on that sense of exploration and organic excitement to simply bask in the world and all that it holds. TLDR Mira is a world that's simply just fun to be in and to run around in 👍

    For me
Xenoblade 1 World being the bionis and the mekonis is really cool
Xenoblade X has the best World scale and it's so cool to fly with the skells
Xenoblade 2 has the best antagonists
Xenoblade 3 has the best relationshipqs between characters

Xenoblade 2 is my favorite Xenoblade game, and I think it's the best Xenoblade in all aspects but in exploration and script, cuz I think Xenoblade X is a little better in exploration and Xenoblade 1 a little better in script, but for me, Xenoblade 2 is the best in story, lore, villiains, characters, narrative, world and combat system. I put 1200 hors en Xenoblade 2 because of this, over 130 in Xenoblade 1, 350 in Xenoblade 3 and 90 in Xenoblade X.

    XC1- Story, Drama...Music
    XC2- World Building, Final Act...MUSIC
    XC3- Main Cast, Gameplay......MUUUUSSIIIIC.
The drama of XC1 still sticks with me, I remember how much of a threat the mechonis felt at all times, and how intense it was to ENTER the mechonis. I also feel like its the most newcomer-friendly story, not as many fictional rules and concepts.
The world of XC2 is unlike any other game. So bright, so vibrant, so magical to explore (complemented by the music). The final act is GOATED and I love the ending, close call with XC3 for best ending but I give it to 2 cause it makes me cry just a bit less.
The main cast of XC3 was such a stand out, each character was important, developed and compelling. Going on the journey with them and seeing them slowly become great friends was a treasure. The gameplay was the best of the 3. Despite loving XC2 combat it felt gimmicky at times and the fights were unforgiving. XC1 got a little repetitive towards the end. Loved the chain attack system in XC3 and the ouroborous combinations.
All the music is GOATED beyond belief.
It has to be one of the greatest gaming trilogies of all time and very few series will be able to top it.

That's a very great point about Xenoblade 1 being newcomer friendly because it doesn't have as many fictional mechanics. Never really thought about that, but I think I agree with that.
I agree so much with you on Xenoblade 2's ending, it makes you feel pretty much every emotion and it's just such a perfect wrap up to that game imo.
I never really talked about this before and honestly, it probably deserves a video of it's own, but my biggest worry going into Xenoblade 3 was that the main cast was going to be lacking. Because I thought it was just too many characters. I know it sounds a bit weird since Xenoblade 1 and 2 I think ended up having more or around the same, but you got them over time, and with 3 it looked as if you would just start with 8 characters and be told "ok go!". But the way they managed to make me care about each of them SO quickly, shockingly quickly, is just a testament to how good at characterization and character introduction they really are. Such a good cast all around imo, where my only complaint is I WISH we got more time with Sena in particular and I wouldn't have minded a tad bit more of Lanz story. Even then though, one of my favorite main character casts ever, and how each interlink was designed for each character was a great thing to find and see. Getting a chain attack with only interlinks was always a great feeling too
And I agree the music is absolutely 100% GOATED, easily 4 (with X) of my favorite OSTs ever

@@JMulls I agree, I found myself having an easier time to recommend XC1 to people because it was easier to get into. Not having to understand blade rules or moebius.
XC2 has one of my favorite endings ever. It's so powerful, I constantly return back to it to relive experiencing it.
You nailed my exact feelings about the XC3 cast. I remember when I played the early hours saying that I missed the feeling of accomplishment by adding new members to your team over the course of a whole game. I thought it was lacking (at first) that we had everyone from the start minus heroes. But by the end I realized that is what made this game extremely special. It's the unlikely family forced together that you get to spend 80 hours bonding with. I notice that with characters like Zeke and Pandoria who were added late in that game that I really favored the early game cast like Rex, Pyra and Nia over them. I think having the XC3 crew from the start made the game progression incredibly rewarding, especially the ending :((((( haha.
I did hear the Sena criticism before, and I agree for the most part. I wouldn't say they got nothing, but her and Lanz felt the most backgroundish unfortunately.
And yes, I need to play X. I got into Xenoblade with XC2 and my WiiU was well out of commission by 2017. Once it hopefully gets ported I'll be playing it on day one.

@@nick6019 I think one of the other things that makes 1 easiest to recommend is because it barely has tropes or ditches them very early on.
And yeah I'm 100% making this the video for tomorrow on XC3's cast lol, because one of the things I never liked with jrpgs is getting party members later on after I have invested in a certain few already so I don't feel incentivized to build a character up again, let alone if there isn't party wide xp distribution, I just always end up leaving people forgotten. You don't have that problem with 3, you play as all of Ouroboros all the time, and they all have their own little progression you go through with mixing and matching classes with them, I can't speak for everyone of course, but personally, I, for lack of a better term, bond with a character(s) more if I play AS them, that interactivity helps me, and I always played as all of Ouroboros, instead of what I did with XC2 which was just play as Rex cause LOL mythra's crits, or large chunks of XC1 where I just played Shulk, I eventually swapped over to FIora and Melia and cared more for them because I was playing. Obviously the story itself still needs to be good, and was, for those characters, but playing as them helps boost what the game is trying to do imo.
In regards to Sena, it's not that I dislike her or anything, i think she is still a really good character, but they elected to build her character through a what if scenario with Shania showcasing what she COULD have been like, but they didnt spend enough time on who she is outside of feeling inadequate herself, wish we got a bit more of that, but she's still a good character imo. I need to finish Segiri's ascension quest, becasue getting Segiri was a good chunk of story for Sena imo and really helped her as a character

I’m currently watching XC2 play through and must admit the story and characters designs are the best so far my only issue is that Rex is very un likable protag for due to slow maturity, I’m currently playing P5R and might download this after strikers, did the game improve during these five years (off lips syncing, slow battles, bad tutorials…) or should I wait if they are planning reboot version like XC1 ?

    • @JMulls
      @JMulls  Рік тому +1

Kind of depends, I never cared about the lip syncing so I never paid attention to it, but the combat drastically improves later in the game as it gives you the core gameplay mechanics later on. It just starts off WAY too slow, but it eventually becomes my favorite combat in the franchise. Tutorials persist iirc but I normally just speed read them and moves on, they didn't really bother me unlike 3's that held your hand to do each individual step but even then I normally just try and get through them quickly.
Rex to me is my favorite protag in the series, and I don't want to spoil why, but I'll just say that his overall arc is VERY satisfying to me

I've only played Xeno 2 and 3 so far, and will hopefully play Xeno 1, Torna and X at some point. For Xeno 2, I'd say what I like the most is the blade system and how it's a combat system that also builds upon the world of Alrest. You fight alongside your blades in Xeno 2, doing blade specials and combos together and even getting stronger the closer you are to your blade through the affinity line. Although Xeno 3's combat system is fun and super complex, possibly the best combat in terms of mechanics, the class system is only very loosely connected to the game's lore. If they had replaced the class system with a different gameplay system, it wouldn't really affect the overall story or world-building much. While this can't be said for blades in Xeno 2.

    • @Aa-dc2xu
      @Aa-dc2xu Рік тому

As for Xeno 3, I love the way it connects to both Xeno 1 and 2 and pays homage to both games while also telling a very impactful standalone story with great characters. Sure, the story kinda looses steam after early chapter 6, but it's still very, very solid overall.
