A little tribute to the late great Taylor Hawkins with one of the most fun to play songs on drums ever! I remember watching a video of Taylor showcasing his rock memorabilia in his home studio back when I was in fifth grade. In the video he was drumming with a very odd but insanely cool kit and I used to replay the playing parts all the time. I even changed the setup on my own kit to get closer to the vibe he had. Like we all were, I was super shocked to hear about his passing as it seriously made me stop and think about how quickly your whole life can turn around or even end. My heart goes out to the Hawkins family as well as Dave Grohl who lost his best friend/bandmate for the second time already 💔

They are! You have to keep calm all the time or you'll end up killing your arm lol. I still love playing it though, the fills in the chorus are so satisfying when you nail them!
I've received a ton of questions, sorry for being so quiet with the answers! This kit has a bunch of pros as well as cons, but overall I don't have any regrets about purchasing it. Especially the kick, snare and toms feel a lot like acoustic drums while the cymbals are just like in any other E-drum set. The hi-hat does unfortunately have issues with the pedal chick as well as alternating between open and closed sounds though. The module has a lot of really cool kits and I've also made a bunch of my own, but in this video you're hearing external GGD samples.
Should you buy this kit? If you want an acoustic kit but want to enjoy the pros of an electronic kit (such as less noise and a wider variety of sounds) , yes! 👍

I've seen many people complain that it doesn't respond to rapid hits or that it fails to toggle between open and closed

Its worse when you use bluetooth,sometimes it randomly shuts down for me,no rhyme no reason...
@@AlejandroReyes-bh7gu I saw elsewhere that this is overcome by recalibrating the hihats in the module menu.. not sure how to do it but it works apparently.

Little question, cause i might going for the mps 1000 as well.
The ext input on the drum module, can you only hook a second floor tom there, or can you also opt for a 3d (or 4th if you would like it) cymbal pad?
I myself find that i rarely use a second floor tom, so when im buying it, it would be great if it had the option for more cymbals through that input port.
Another little question or 2 now im typing this.
How is the open/close play on the hihat, especially at faster patterns?
And how is the durability in your opinion. Since the time that you have it, do you see flaws already, or parts that gets damaged already so to say?

Great video man, I was wondering what program do you use to record the drums and mix it with the song?
This was done with external samples, so I recorded a MIDI track of my playing in Reaper, put it through the samples and finally mixed all individual tracks + the song together in Audacity! 👍

Ey man sick cover! I've had the MPS 850 for few years and considering upgrading to this - how does the HiHat and Ride's Bell feel? That's my only huge complain on MPS 850, the bell was extremely hard to get since the start, and the hihat opening/closing is super clunky and always get stuck at some point, honestly a bit ridiculous and even got worse with time...
What do you think of the MPS 1000 in this regard? Thanks a lot!
PS Nice playing as I said but I'd totally take out the last bit when the guitar strums for the last time, the little ending bit you did there I like but imo makes the song end strangely! But ofc I do similar stuff when playing alone cuz it's cool to try shit :D

How would you rate the build quality/finish?

Thank you! I'm definitely going to do a demo for it, there's been a lot of demand for one!
The build quality of the kit is great, everything stays in place as should. I don't have complaints on that! The edges of the finish are a little rough, but you can't really even see those spots that easily and it doesn't affect the performance.
The snare, kick and tom triggers are really responsive and they work perfectly. The cymbals are a little harder to trigger but that can be fixed easily from adjusting the settings in the module. The only real problem I've come across with this kit is the hi-hat, it does have the problem you've probably heard of. When lifting your foot off the pedal it plays the open sound too. I'm trying to find a way to fix it at the moment, I might even contact Millenium directly to see if they could help.
But in short, this kit is definitely something I'd recommend! It's literally and e-kit in disguise as an acoustic kit with the more quiet volume level and MIDI connection possibilities of an e-kit and the size and feel (well, almost!) of an acoustic kit. 👍
@@ArttuAunola thank you so much for you're extensive response. The big draw for me is the look en midi possiblies. The sounds over midi are amazing and lifts the kit to a whole nother level. A video on the slftware side of you're setup would also be a really nice one. For now you got yourself a sub!! And I will be patiently waiting on new video's!

Unfortunately yes! The chick doesn't really work the way it should as you probably already know. It doesn't have a separate MIDI note for it so it relies on the same triggers as the pad you hit with your drumsticks. When lifting your foot off the pedal it plays the open hi-hat sound which does get quite annoying. I'm thinking of doing an in-depth demo for this kit soon or a separate video on this issue as well, as I want to help others with it but first I need to get help myself as well! 😂

I haven't tried it, I don't own any other hi-hat stands! Could you share where you saw it first?

I think it's great! It has it's pros and cons but overall I'm really happy with my purchase. I haven't tried it with a Roland module though, I don't own one!

It's pretty close, especially the kick, snare and toms! The cymbals feel as you'd expect them to, they're your standard e-drum crashes, but at least for me it's not a minus! I think the size of the whole kit really brings it all together. 🤘

Nope, this is with 3 different GGD sample packs! It's a custom made "frankenkit" 😁

Is that possible? I don't think there is a cloud storage where you can share user presets for others as well, or at least I'm not aware of one. These aren't my samples either, so if I started uploading them as my own I would get in trouble! 😂

I'm aware of that! Both Dave and Taylor are drumming icons. Even if Dave wrote and recorded the drums for this, I think it was a fitting to add the little tribute to Taylor in as well. 😁
