    I’ve had ko2’s, duratracs and the wildpeak’s.. I loved my Bfgs for about 10k miles and it got scary on wet and snow covered roads, went to duratracs and absolutely loved them but sold my setup just to change it up and went with wildpeak this go around and I have to say the wildpeak’s are by far my favorite tire I love them and preach them here in Michigan! To each their own I respect their opinions but I’ll never buy Bfgs again and I’ll be buying wildpeaks’s again when these wear out in like 5 years 😂

      Preach man...I had KO2'S on my older ram and nearly died more than I can count on the curve on 75 between Alexis and the 280 split near the ohio Michigan border just in the rain and driving responsible... especially for the price, I'll never get those again

      The bfg k02s are fine on powder snow but terrible in slush and icy roads. They tend to cake up with snow and then they turn to slicks

    Thanks for the video.
    This fall we plan on getting Falken Wildpeaks for our Outback.
    We get 4-5 feet of snow every winter. We don’t take our Outback off road, unless we go out to my in-laws ranch in MT and their driveway is 3 miles long. It’s a gravel/mud driveway. We have to put our Outback in X mode just to get up our private road and into our garage during the winter months.

    Just to give you a heads up the KO2s aren't worth a dam in the rain on asphalt. I have 285/65R18 KO2s on a 2015 Land Cruiser with around 60% of the tread remaining and they will understeer and push wide at just normal speeds on wet corners. I'm running them at 45 psi front and 40 psi rear but have ran them as low as 35 psi all around in the rain and as high as 60 psi but nothing helps. So i'm now looking for tires and found your video on the Falken Wildpeak AT3W but I worry that they may not be up to the task of a 6000 lb + SUV.

    • @tomahawksteak6672
      @tomahawksteak6672 2 роки тому +2

      You can buy these in a 10 ply tire. If they hold up to a one ton diesel truck then u will be fine on your suv.

    This is a great review but I think that a lot of people watching reviews don't take into consideration how subjective reviews are because different cars also handle completely differently. I read comments like "this or that tire doesn't handle well in the rain" but maybe it's their vehicle that doesn't handle well, or they drive like an idiot in the rain. Personally, I have two Tacoma's and a 4 Runner, they all have the same tires but they all handle differently in different conditions.

    • @MootsKLAdventure
      @MootsKLAdventure  2 роки тому +1

      I definitely agree with that. I think most of the time it's poor driving in some of the different weather conditions.

    • @whenniceguysretaliate5619
      @whenniceguysretaliate5619 2 роки тому

      Totally agree. I have a 1998 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 and the K02s are not good in the rain; even with some weight in the back. They were good for minute when I first got them, but looking to get the Wildpeaks as a replacement. That said, I haven't found a lot of All Terrain tires, that are real good in the rain for a Small Truck to begin with. And my truck is older and lighter than some of the newer Tacomas.
      Happy hunting, but curious about your Tacoma tire recommendations as well.

    • @RNicolasRuvalcaba
      @RNicolasRuvalcaba 2 роки тому +2

      @@whenniceguysretaliate5619 I run Michelin AT 2's on three vehicles and I think they're great. I have a 2003 4X2 and they have 70K on them, the tread is still decent but they're showing some cracking so I'll probably replace them soon. My wife drives a 2007 4Runner 4X4 and I also have a 2015 long bed Tacoma 4X4. The tires don't look super aggressive compared to other AT's but I have no complaints at all.

    • @whenniceguysretaliate5619
      @whenniceguysretaliate5619 2 роки тому

      @@RNicolasRuvalcaba Ironically, they don't make the size I need, but I was definitely considering these tires after doing some research. That said, they do have a Defender LTX M/S that I might check out. Much less aggressive looking than the AT 2s, but still has some good reviews based on the wet driving benefits. Just might have to embrace the less aggressive look, but for rain traction it's probably worth it. Really appreciate the recommendation and hope you have a good one.

    • @ek9931
      @ek9931 3 роки тому +2

      I got about 30,000 miles out of the KO2s with regular rotations. The issue with the KO2s is that they did not have great wet and ice traction in my experience. When I was running the stock size of 245/65r17 they came in load range D so a but heavier then a passenger load tire. They rode a bit loud and not as smooth as the OE Firestones. They are basically good in sand and mud and that’s about it. I feel that the Wildpeaks in load range XL so far are a good all rounder tire for the KL platform with much better ice and wet traction. I plan to try them out off road at Big Bend in West Texas hopefully later this year if I get a chance.

      I've had KO2's and before Duratracs. The later felt on me 3 or 4 times, because they simply have weak sides and are prone to puncture on harsh rocks. The KO2, however, are much, much more reliable, I've been really very harsh on them, running over all kind of terrain, and they are extremelly durable. None of two, however, were excellent on ice and wet roads. Maybe when they were new, but after few thousands not anymore. Driving on wet and snowy roads was really stressful. On mud Duratrasc were significantly better than KO2's due to more rough profile, same in deep snow. None of them was too loud on road.
      Will probably go with Wildpeaks now, because above mentioned tend to degrade on straight line after 50k, so it's hard to drive highways, harder to keep steering wheel straight when riding over bumps on highway...not comfortable ride anymore.
      BTW...Wildpeak LT version does not have same silica content, so it is not so sticky and not so good on snow. Nice to know ;)

      @@MootsKLAdventure thanks for getting back. I heard the silica in the passenger tires are better than the lt. Better traction in snow and wet. Better traction all round.

      @@kimcapone4791 that's the way I understand it. The LT are better for heavier vehicles and I will last longer but they weight more themselves and ride rougher.

    Get a tread depth gauge or don’t talk about tread wear.

      I actually thought the penny thing was pretty interesting way to measure depth. But I get it that people want to know the measurable depth.

    I had Wildpeak A/T on my Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and then decided to upgrade to these tires. But to my surprise, they really didn't do anything better than the Wildpeak A/T tires. When I need another new set of tires, I'll probably go back to the A/T since they cost less and are more quiet on thd street.
