It's not that hard tbh. I do $40 a week without trying to budget (in NY). Get your protein, veggies, bread, deli meat, milk, and fruit and it'll easily just be $40. Anything more is seriously a person just indulging in more than what they need or they have others to feed. Nothing wrong with that, it's just looking at reality will make it easier for you to recognize what you're buying to enjoy yourself vs what you need.

For anyone who's interested in cutting out meat or simply eating less of it and are worried about anemia, here are some suggestions for good vegetable/non-meat sources of iron:
Oats - 100g has 38% your daily recommended intake (and it's cheap)
Chickpeas - 100g has 22% of your daily recommended intake (also very cheap if you buy dried)
Lentils - 100g has 25% of your daily recommended intake (again, cheap)
Black beans - 100g has 16% daily intake
You can use fortified nutritional yeast as a source of vitamin B12, or you can eat eggs if you're not going vegan. There are a lot of options out there.
This is a non-exhaustive list, but these ingredients are easy to find and inexpensive. Indian food has great examples of nutritiously complete vegetarian food as well.

So good. I also make plant based yogurt at home. Pantry loaded with beans and rice. Lol! I make rice balls and suchi using just veggies cause my kids are allergic to fish. Made potato and leek soup the other night. It easily adds $50 to our grocery bill when my hubby decides he wants meat all week and that's pretty much for him and my eldest son.
People say it takes to much time to cook like tuna even if you do save money but I dont have a choice honestly.

I'm not a vegan but I eat very little meat and no dairy - so about as close as you can get - and she's missing all the fruit and veg I'd normally eat. The "staples" of vegan are not expensive, but the fresh produce in a city is VERY expensive. I'm in downtown Chicago and spend probably $30-$40 weekly just on fruit and veg - everything else on top adds up to about $50-$60 a week. Take away the fruit and veg and sure I could spend just that $35 a week. vegan or primarily plant-based is expensive in cities, when I lived in Michigans countryside there were small farms selling produce EVERYWHERE for so cheap, it would be much cheaper there to be plant-based or vegan.

She is so creative in the way she uses ingredients--it's fun to watch to see what she'll try next. Also, the fact that she shows her failures makes these videos far superior to the vast majority of cooking videos. It's hilarious when she fails, because I don't know a SOUL out there who hasn't tried a recipe and EFFed it up royally. If anything, I'd love to see more of her life--where she shops for ingredients, how she's coping through the pandemic, etc.

Being diabetic this diet would send my sugars flying. Im not Keto, but my carb intake would only be 1/2 cup a day. Try canned tuna, 1 chicken for the week, fresh greens, mushrooms, Penut butter is ok. You ate three very filling meals. I would consider nut milk a for breakfat, or fast and eat two meals.

Although some are edible when its cooked or okay in very small amounts because cooking changes the composition fo the food, Breaking it down.
The reaction I get from eating something like that is that Ive listen above is often that my throat get itchy and swells up and making it hard to breath, or breakouts( tomatoes, bellpeppers, chili) stomach problems of various types( Im not going into details ok).
So saying that vegan diet is something everyone can eat is bull. But that being Said I use some vegan stuff like I like milk from oats and rice, oreos and more Im just saying I cant take out the meat and eggs if Im going to be able to get all that I need in vitamines and minerals. And I actually like veggies I like to eat more but Its not Worth being in constant pain.
