    This worked for me...I did tape the rim and used a large screwdriver with liquid dish soap to get the tire off and back on. Thanks!

    Putting the tape on the rim is a great idea Steve. I spent time slicking that all up by grinding and painting but the tape method really simplified the process. Cheers

      I have tried to clean a rim and paint it but in a short time the paints flaking away and the rust returns so the tape is my go too now and seems to protect the tube real well. Cheers Lloyd 👍

    I've had to do this for the same reason on my wheel barrow and a couple of mini bikes. You're right about the tire gunk. I've tried various ones and they seemed to work at first but after the wheel sits for awhile, they start to slowly leak again.
    I saw your video got yanked the other day! One minute it was there, then I go to click on it and I get a page telling me the video had been removed for violating the TOS lol

      Ya the gunk liquid is gunk as far as my testing too LOL Seems
      youtube likes to watch my other channel more than most LOL The took three down and put two back up but one is still in appeal. They are intent on removing the channel it seems by the actions they take. it looks like one division takes action and another reviews its action. If you make content expressing your views and they don't comply with their views its in violation . I may not last long with the censorship going on at youtube. Its their sandbox and its their sand HAHAHA

    This video is really made for someone who already knows how to put a tube in a tubeless tire, but can't figure out why the tube keeps going flat. For the most important parts of the job, the work is done off camera. The video doesn't show how to get the tire and rim off the snowblower, or what it takes to get the tire off the rim, or tricks for getting the tire back on the rim without pinching the new tube, or how to keep the valve stem in place so that it stays straight when the tube is inflated. The electrical tape hint was very helpful as a reminder to anyone who might do this repair for me, but I still don't have a clear sense of how to do this task myself.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Eileen
      This video was targeted to those that can remove the tire and install it and only showed the process of what I do before installing a tube in a tubeless tire. If I show too much viewers complain the videos too long and if I don't show enough 😅😅

    hardest part for me is getting the tire off the rim in the first place and then slipping the tube in at the end - but you skip all the tricks and ugly process that would be most helpful for me.

    • @SteveRobReviews

      The idea of putting a tube in a tubeless rim is more challenging if you don't protect the tube from weld splatter so that's what's shown in the video. Cheers 👍

      Ok so preparing the rim is crucial. But the process of dismounting/mounting the tire is often the most difficult. I clicked because I was hoping for tips on mounting the tire. Great video. You did show exactly what you promised. I can't complain about that.

    I like the electrical tape. Just like the inside of a bicycle rim where it has that rubber that goes all the way around the rim to protect the tube from the bicycle spokes where they're attached to the rim and it does have the hole for the air valve. Makes a lot of sense.

    Great tip about the electrical tape. Before seeing this I would have ground and smoothed it to perfection and painted it. Tape is a lot less work. Thanks Steve. For the valve stem, you can get a plastic grommet insert... might have to enlarge the stem hole, but it avoids the stem getting worn or cut from the edge of the stem hole.

    If you're going to use Tire Slime read the bottle carefully and don't just go by the Silhouettes of the various garden equipment that's on it. I accidentally put the one that's formulated for tube only in a tubeless tire on a snowblower I rescued from the trash recently which so far hasn't leaked out. Strangely one of the images on this formulation of tire slime is a wheelbarrow which most of the ones I've owned had tubeless tires. I think the one for tubes just doesn't have any anti corrosive properties. Just a little experiment I wanted to do.

    I hope the 🤡 at the tire shop, who just put a tube in my BRAND NEW snowblower tire, cleaned the rust off of my rim and added black electrical tape to it, but I HIGHLY doubt it.
    I told him it was my 3rd time trying to get it fixed when I brought it to him. (The other tire shop had failed at it twice. They mounted my 2 new tires and one of them wasn't holding air - flat in 2 days time.)
    I suggested to this new 🤡 to put in a tube so I wouldn't have to keep going through the frustration, but he insisted on giving HIS WAY a try. HIS WAY failed too! He lost my air valve cap as well and swore to me that it wasn't there when I brought it in for a repair. (With a bad attitude, of course) BS!, because i pumped up the tire, capped it, and immediately took it to his garage. I've had the same original Toro valve caps for 26 years now and NEVER lost one. (That was strike #2 for him. One more and he's gone, i promised myself.)
    He took on a bad attitude with me, once again, when I returned with it for a 4th attempt at fixing it.
    $20.00 for his first failed attempt and then an additional $35.00 the second time to add the tube.
    When I questioned the cost and asked if he charged me twice for labor (because i thought the cost was outrageous) he rudely told me that I "should've left it the way it was." EXCUSE ME!!!?? (Strike #3 for him) I told him his comment was asinine and that NO ONE should have to pump up a BRAND NEW tire every 2 days in the freezing cold winter weather, especially someone who's old in age and disabled.
    He lost my business permanently now. I'll no longer take my car to him either for any repair work.
    What a total jerk he was - just out to bilk people of their hard earned money.
    In total now, so far, I've spent $75.00 on mounting these two new 16" tires on my Toro 824 powershift and I don't even know yet if the one with the tube is properly repaired... probably NOT. (Just got it back two hours ago)
    What a major hassle this has been. I thought these tire repair shops could actually mount tires properly, (THEY both said they could) but I was mistaken.
    Both new Carlisle tires only cost me $48.00 online, but i'm out an additional $75.00 so far just to mount them properly. Very frustrating experience.

    • @SteveRobReviews
      @SteveRobReviews  Рік тому +2

      Wow thats not good. Every snowblower tire I have worked on was tubeless and every rim was full of weld splatter that destroyed a tube unless you protect the tube . Many shops just stuff a tube in and never check inside .
