About Simple Little Life:
This channel has sort of turned (inadvertently) into a knife making channel. But the original idea behind what we wanted it to be is this description below:
Videos on our journey to homesteading. With a recent purchase of a little piece of the Alberta prairie, we're looking to sell our nice suburban home in search of a more meaningful life beyond chasing the "American dream" working for some big company and making someone else rich. It's not about the money, it's about getting the most value from the work I do to improving the life of my family.
Some preparedness, DIY, building quality things with your hands, guns, gear, and outdoor exploration.

There are no Tim's where I'm at so open question for all. How does Tim's compare/contrast to Dunkin
I’m biased but I prefer it to dunken. Similar roasts though👍 I’ll pin this so maybe you can get some others input.
@@Simplelittlelife thank you sir.
Well, I've never heard of someone taking a dump on a Dunkin Donuts floor
Hahaha! Very true 😆. That’a a Canadian insider story...👍
@@tayloraustin1997 Maybe there wasn't an opportunity :)
I think that is a genius idea to slot a dowel and drill out the handle material to ease the 'handle to knife' process!! I think that should work very well....
That is going to be a great looking knife. It looks to be a great slicer.
thx , I just cut out a dowel , hope 2 get it made next few days, u are appreciated ❤
Thank you so much! 🙏
”I will do it in the afternoon when its a bit warmer” -18°C, talking lika a true canadian😂
Cheers from Sweden👍🏻👏🏻
Edit: Last week it was -18 here aswell but today its +6
Hahaha, thank you! Enjoy the warmth! 👍
I'm loving the warmth here in Skåne
+3 woahh that's really hot
Great tip with the wooden dowel rod.
The dowel idea is so awesome. Thank you for sharing and keep on youtubing!
Yes. Learn from each other. Great video.
I cannot wait to see this knife finished! It looks nice for being taped up. :-)
The use of the dowel is simply genius.
Not much more important than the SNOW BALL OF LEARNING..... Very well said. Binge watching your vids to catch up
The dowel ... that's genius.
I really like your bandsaw stand. Nice and simple but efficient. I m going to try and make something similar for my portaband
Glad that handle setup worked for you! Keep up the good work.
Have you ever tried the imitation stone material used for sinks and countertops? I believe it’s resin based, cuts easily and polishes really well. I think one brand name is “corian”
Hundreds of colors and patterns to choose from.
Hi Jeremy, I tried the dowel on a kitchen knife I was working on. It works like a charm and it gives me an exact reference of how far I can shape the handle. In the past it happened more than once that I ended up exposing the epoxy. Can be a nice effect a partially see through handle, naaah, not really😉
That idea with bike thing is awesome! I bet i can use that in my belt grinder. TY
Great stuff as always! Keep at it!
Розумний чоловік !!! Дякую за підказки 😆
Since you did the video on making the bandsaw stand I have seen one or two other makers on you tube with similar setups. When I get my workshop a little more complete I want to do the same,I like being able to multi task with tools .
You know, if you spiral some slight grooves in the dowel, you will have some space for the glue to grab onto a bit better.
That's better than the -60° F we had here in Wisconsin.
* Cuchillo*. Great Spanish! Great video
"Here's my chewed on cardboard"... XD
Right? I see it all the time! And then the person recievinf it goes and grabs my coffee so now I’m involved with some strangers chewed on cardboard. I’m not actually a germaphobe but the thought is kid of gross😆👍
Dude I've never noticed that when you use the band saw that's genius 👍
Nice "Rona" bucket
Hahahaha. Rona is a hardware store in Canada 👍
Stay warm my friend!
Love Tim hortons
Like from Siberia!!!! Take care of your fingers!!!!
The Rim Roll!!😂👍
👍
Stainless on the bandsaw heats up, work hardens, and eats your blades. Liquid coolant is not an option. Got a compressor ?? Build a jig for a micro air jet focussed at the cutting point ?? It should cool as you cut. Add a valve for on off air flow. Chip removal is an extra bonus.
The great thing about the long cold snap is that it is killing over 90% of the mountain pine beetle. Very important for BC and AB.
Love the video and the winning cup PSA on oral hygiene. Lol
Hey, I saw the safety glasses you were using that appeared to have “gasket” material going around the eyes. What are they and where can I get some? They look more comfortable than “goggles” but great for dusty conditions.
Cheers.
Norbert
Switch out the blade to 24 TPI for Stainless, use a little water for cooling and set the metal bandsaw speed to the middle setting, it will cut stainless like butter!
Hey Jeremy. I saw an idea for this construction of sanding a slight flat down the dowel to allow air to escape and for epoxy squeeze out. Not sure of its efficacy, but logically it makes sense. Not my idea, just passing along the snowball of sharing.
The way i shape my handles off the knife is i glue parts with CA, and i hope that epoxy will keep everything together well just from the inside ;)
It has been soooo cold. Making it very difficult to get out fishing with Boog her feet freeze too fast. I'm glad your we able to get those beauties cut out in the cold.
why do you have to cut that steel outside? does it make toxic fumes when cut with a grinding wheel?
No, I just make a huge amount of dust and stink and I don’t like having that in my shop. Makes way more mess than the belt grinder because so much of the abrasive disc wears off. It’s nasty. Good question👍
While gluing clamp down the handle, this way nothing inside'll move, take blade of the handle, clear tang from epoxy, re-insert handle, and repeat previous steps. If your tang is clean after inserting it that means that you can leave handle alone and wait to glue hardens enought to work on handle
In the future take the dowl and spin it along the bs blade April Wilkerson shows how to do it on her river table vid
Great video. Where do you get the bolster material? I am in Canada.
Have you tried using Lenox bi-metal blades? I use them for cutting stainless steel, carbon fiber, g10, zirconium, titanium
Damn. Your editing keeps getting better. 🤬 🤣. Seriously I need to up my game.
Hey Jeremey, I started following you after watching one of your boat knife builds. I have been making knives now for 2 years and your videos help me a lot. How can I send you some pics of my work? Thanks bud!
Hey guy, have you have use the glow-in-dark G-10? I think it's perfect for KNIVES?
Jeremy can you tell me the starting dimensions of the Wa handle?
your really good dude i want to make stuff as nice as yours but i also blacksmith and my tools aren't quite as good. could you tell me how much your 2x72 costed and where i can find a pretty inexpensive one, and what is the best price and quality balance?
You coming to Blade this year?!
How do u like the isotunes
What VFD are you using ?
Im setting up my old gun lathe 1 horse to 1 1/2 horse
How's you're forging going?
½" is very big... normal japanese WA handles use 8mm tangs... not 12.5mm gives you a little more room to grind and shape
At -10C us Brit’s seem have a mass panic, and everyone leaves the house with about 30 layers looking like an Arctic Michellin Man.
Unless you’re from the North, then you say it’s nae too bad and go out in shorts and t-shirt.
if you dont recommend using the grinder without a guard, why would you?
1st :)
Woohoo! 😆
@@Simplelittlelife :)
Hi,do you know if mr. vachon has a youtube channel?
Hey what bandsaw blades do you use?! 😂
why do you have to cut 154cm outside?
Whats the songs?
Hi Jeremy, how's it been since getting rid of that of that mob who were ripping you off wit that YT membership?
Who's Shawn? Lol
3 view yes yes
Who is Shawn lol

The ones who dislike it gotta have a lot to say 😏😅
