Nice little camera. I think I'd like to purchase one to replace the X-T3 i sold a while back but I'll have to wait until they are in stock so I can test out the EVF. I'm not sure I can make that work. Low res plus low magnification is a challenge for my aging eyes.
If you can comment on the AF performance compared to the X-S20, that would be very interesting - the two cameras share the same processor and some AF algorithms, but use different size sensors.
‼️A nice camera. I would buy it if it hasn't the film simulation wheel. This is a toy for Instagram people... p.s. the price for the X-T50 body in Switzerland is actual sFr. 1250.- (€ 1240.-) in Interdiscount shop.
Imo, Fujifilm should've given a better battery and probably 5 or 6 stops of IBIS and should've stuck with the same 26MP sensor but with the latest processor like in the XS 20, which probably could've kept the price in check. An overkill sensor and IBIS with the same underwhelming battery, what's the point Fujifilm? P.S. The 60min video record limit, please get rid of that already!
You guys should finally start posting videos more often and also longer ones. I think this would help to keep dpreview more in mind and it is often easier for me to watch 5min of a video than dig through the whole data sheets
Sony shooter here👋🏻 only less than a year into amateur photo, and amateur video. I own an fx30 and an a7rv and love both of them for their respective reasons. Both have taught me so much about the craft in such short amounts of time, and I’ve adapted to feel very confident with both of them at in my arsenal. I also work full time creating content for marketing at an agency, but I only shoot CANON there, with the R5 and R5C. So I have learned to adapt to each and love and hate their quirks. Anyway, I’m completely looking for a small-sized travel cam that can fit in my pocket but packs a punch. I was really wanting the x100vi for a long time, I was on the waitlist, but saw the xt50 and saw it as a much more viable option because of the interchangeable lenses and all of the specs that are somewhat better than the x100vi. I personally see the sim dial and the rounded design as benefits, only because I’m completely new to Fuji. I know the price sucks but I’d end up paying the same amount for the x100vi or even the v used, and then be stuck with just the fixed lens anyway. I will primarily use a 27 pancake for everyday shooting, but still want the ability to change/buy new lenses in the future. Therefore I’m stoked for this camera! This is my outsider opinion, as an amateur and primarily a Sony shooter!
Is the body weatherproof? I would find the answer easily but I am happy to see DPreview back and I like that you haven't posted a 15-20 minutes video like the other channels!
@@dpreview so basically it is an X-S20 with the 40Mpix sensor and with neither the modern controls of the X-S20 nor the retro ones of the X-T5. I would probably buy an X-S20, not into the retro thing (I have old film cameras in my camera collection) and 40Mpix is really tricky in APS-C.
I'm afraid not, just standard film simulations (with the choice of Ye, R or G filter effect if you choose Mono or Acros). You can't add Color Chrome Effect or anything like that.
- Single card slot - Smaller battery - Smaller, lower-res viewfinder - Slower continuous shooting (8fps vs 15fps) - Not compatible with fan accessories - No multi-shot pixel shift - Less sold build - Rear screen only tilts up/down, not out to the side
@@doyouseeafloatingsandwich4301 Ok so if you're just a casual/hobby photographer the T50 certainly seems like a good choice over the T5. Is it limited in other ways - for example does it have all the same video features and is the AF tracking just as good as the T5?
@@michaelberg7201 in terms of features it's the same for autofocus and video, the biggest sensor perk is that it has reala ace that xt5 doesn't have, the rest are some hardware differences like the battery, evf, and the rest that @richardbutler8532 listed
@@michaelberg7201 It has the same AF system that the X-T5 received in the recent update and most of the same video features. But the Film Simulation dial very much suggests it's aimed at a more casual audience.
Loved the outtake at the end. I'm sure Fuji will soon run a campaign: "The Fujifilm X-T50: Now More Irritating to Small Dogs" :-)
hey DRPeview is back !

Cameras are too expensive.
And fujifilm is generally awful
Does it have basic weather proof
Holy fuck its here

$1899 CAD body only.... ☹
Thanks, Richard, for review.
I think it's overpriced.
Whoaaaa
It looks like a nUclear plant….. I like it.
I was told that Dpreview was dead! 🤔
We're still standing!
@@dpreview The report of our death was an exaggeration (to slightly paraphrase a regularly misquoted statement)
A mirrorless camera with a pentaprism shaped bump on the top? Do you pay extra for that? 😂😂😂
Always nice to see Richard talking about new releases
Good to see DPR TV back!

Too bad it doesn’t have computational photography that rivals the iPhone 15 Pro.
Shame the iPhone doesn't have Google's computational photography😂
@@skip24ftlb it’s the other way around 🤣
It would be interesting to see which of the newer ILC cameras dogs prefer.

I don't believe there are any claims of weather sealing for the body.
It is not, I watched an unveiling with a fujifilm rep in it and they specifically says its not. The lens paired with it, 16-50mm is WR though

Can custom recipes be assigned to the custom positions on the film sim dial, or only Fuji's defaults?

I have one, you can use custom recipes. You just set it to C on the dial and select custom recipes normally
In AUD, I think it is $1000 too expensive. It isn’t much more to get Nikon zf, I think it is called.
Very well explained video
