Fond memories of Paris delivery of my second RHD UK Spec Citroen 2CV6, a Charleston in May 1982. The second week was a week hot air ballooning over the Burgundy District of France while the 2CV had lots of goodies fitted.. Front & Rear headrests, boot luggage rack, heated rear window, door pockets, centre roof aerial and radio/CD player and speakers, aluminum spats for front and rear guards, tow bar, and the piece de resistance - a bracket under the bonnet with 5 air horns that played the French national anthem La Marseillaise. It could play one note at a time or continuously. I then toured for 15 months Europe, UK, Ireland, Canada and USA before bringing the Charleston home to Australia. In 7 years did 125,000 miles and then went back to France for a 1990 RHD Charleston for 3 months before shipping it home. Two months after it arrived they stopped production after 42 years. Recently after 188,000 miles I had a Burton rebuilt Big Bore 652cc engine + Power Tube fitted.... Now a 2CV7 with a top speed of 80 mph.... So much fun over 45 years and 2 x 2CV6s. Addicted.
This one is just in perfect shape. Nothing missing. By the kind of wiring and connectors at the coil, I guess she is fitted with an electronic ignition.
This 2cv looks nice, but please note that grey felt lining above the windows is missing. These cars were trimmed very basic, not this basic. This trim is just glued to the metal, so it's very easy to apply, and it's available from every 2cv specialist.
I am the lucky owner of a 1984 2CV 6 that I restored (body welding, new brake system, clutch, cylinders and pistons). Those cars are as sensual as women. The 2CV are classicals like the Parthenon or the Coliseum.
this is the prettiest version of the red charleston. Citroen made the first series Charleston in 81 and 82, these had a red body. the series sold so well that they kept it as standard in the sales program, however they got a black body because it worked faster in production. (body in one color instead of 2 colors) but the 81 and 82 models are much nicer. the 81 models also had drum brakes all around, in 82 all 2cv`s got disc brakes on the front wheels. the 81 model also had other fabric seat covers, "piet de poule" black and white.

Top video. I had many 2cv, this one sounds perfectly ok 👌
To drive one of these, instead of a modern car, it's like cooking instead of eating frozen food.
Magnifique métaphore cher compatriote !
