    This filming gave me flashbacks to when I was a kid in the 80s, sitting in the front passenger seat, and my dad was driving.

    I had one in the past, it was a 1959 van version.
    It was really a pleasure to drive because you were always trying to optimize your speed in order to keep it steady as getting it back up after a slow down took such a long time.
    Kinetic energy conservation was a major concern.
    When driving you were always devising strategies to best conserve your kinetic energy. This was rewarding game.

      Tuve un 425, usado, de mediados de los 60. Es cierto que mantener la velocidad era fundamental. Y siempre con el pedal del acelerador a tope.

    Seeing cars of today vs the lean and basic 2CV van of my grandfather, a WW2 veteran, often reminds me that hauling 1.5 ton of metal, plastic, with tons of unnecessary technology, is a quite futile egotistic and inconsiderate waste. Seeing simple mirrors nowadays being replaced by complex set ups of cameras screens and beeps is a good example of the nonsense going on.

      Only to an extent. I completely agree that all you really need is the basics. However, an accident in a 2CV is essentially fatal.
      Both passive and active safety systems of modern vehicles serve a purpose.

    There once was a Citroen dealer here in Hamilton Ontario. I was 15, year 1971. I’ll bet anyone in this area won’t remember it. It was located on Queenston Rd. at Clapham Rd. Pretty much right where a Harvey’s hamburger joint sits today. They had a couple of Citroen Dyan’s on the lot, I thought it was such a neat and practical little city car at the to,e and I still do! I would love the opportunity to drive one. Neat car and thanks for bringing back a memory! Cheers🍻🇨🇦🥂👍

    I've had a couple of these. First was a 1972 Dyane - 4 years old when I got it - and a 1984 2cv. Fantastic cars. In the 70's I also had an Ami 8 Estate, superb too.
    Today I have a 1970 FIAT 500L, another great and unburstable piece of history.
    Wouldn't mind a 2cv again though.

    Nice car and video thank you. The camera angle and driving are very good. I have a request for you. Please share a real Trabant driving video in very good condition. When the treadmills were new, I had the opportunity to ride it. I really remember. They were walking very quietly and smoothly on the road. Now I've ridden on a few that were called good, but they were never as good as they were in those years. I'm saying deliberately, they were really high quality vehicles. I think there should be one in your collection. I'm following you. Regards.

    The 2CV underwent a number of significant changes during its time of production, both inside and out. THe most important change naturally was the increase in power, but there were also a few changes the the body, like getting rid of the suicide doors, the introduction of a third window and a proper trunk lid. Close to the end, wvem the rear suspension saw changes.

    The all first 2cv was the TPV 1939 2cv who had a water cooled engine, 8HP (SAE) and a all aluminium body: 250 was built for the "salon de l'Auto 1939", who never happens because the war, all was scrapped, only some hidden prototypes survive...And between the 1948 model and the 1990 model , not a single part is common...the first 2cv type A had a 375cc 9hp (SAE) engine, top speed 60km/h, and the last 2cv (1990) had a 602cc 29HP (DIN) and 115km/h top speed...

    What a fabulous colour combo - plum & custard. Engine bay is immaculate too. We had a couple when they were new, the last one in 1990 was a burgandy & black Charleston. What is the switch in the middle of the dashboard, just under the windscreen? Also, this is the second North American 2CV I've seen with a long toggle switch on right side of the speedometer, what does that do?

    The deux cheveaux (2 cv) is a timeless classic and had at it debut whole 2 hp. Strong enough to get to 60 kph and holding them on a straight. Later model are somewhat really deluxemodels enginewise

    • @leneanderthalien
      @leneanderthalien 3 роки тому +3

      no: 2cv is the french tax for such cubic engine, the real power from the first 2cv (1948) was 9HP SAE, and the bigest engine (602cc 29hp DIN) use in the 2cv is a 3cv tax

    The gear shift is just an inverted "H" pattern, due to the position of the gearbox in front of the motor.

    • @williamwade641
      @williamwade641 2 роки тому

      The gearbox is actually behind the engine. The earlier Citroën Traction Avant had the gearbox mounted forward of the motor.

    Did they have crank start as an option in the 80s? When was crank removed as a means. I know that Citroen kept it as a means at least through the late 70s (per the Top Gear where James bought a Citroen and it still had a crank under the hood).
