OHHHH WOW such beauty that our Dear Lord created, the bridge and tunnel was amazing... Winston looked like he loved the creek and yes it was perfect place for a picnic, thanks for taking us along... Strawberry jam for me, we like the strawberry Toe Jam from Tennessee that we pick up when we go to the smokies...
When you started talking about peanut butter sandwiches, It made me think about my dad. He loved peanut butter, homemade bread and butter pickles, and mayonnaise on white bread. I learned to love that combination too! Thanks for bringing back such great simple memories!
So good to see Winston walking through such a beautiful area, Sniffing and investigating everything, A true doggie adventure🐾, Your video's are so nice👌 Have a safe and happy 4th July 😊
My daughter, son-in-law, and grandson have been going to the Travelers Rest area for several years and have stayed at Solitude Point several times but this year they stayed at the KOA there. I shared your video of the KOA there and they really enjoyed it there. They are from Birmingham, Alabama.
Well, I'm so happy I saw this video! You guys went on 25 which is the same road I plan on taking to go see my son in Charleston, S.Carolina! Thank you! I will absolutely stop at Poinsett Bridge! And I may also make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich just for you two! It was so beautiful! I'm so happy you enjoyed it because I know I will enjoy it now also!! Safe travels...Love, hugs, and prayers...Tonda and Penny ❤️🤗🙏🐕😄
Beautiful and a very neat place in history! Yes, great place for a little picnic. We keep a cooler in our Honda Pilot and pack sandwiches and snaks, drinks on certain excursions . We keep our RPOD in camp, as a base camp, so we can go here, there and anywhere without having to secure everything as we pal around Happy Travels
We live right down the road and always have said poinsett, like coin set… just like it’s spelled. It’s named after Joel Poinsett after whom the poinsettia flower is named
Have a great 4th of July this year, Mike and Karen. My birthday is in July. There always a chance which is a shame when a person carves into any tree, they can damage a tree also.
Wikipedia says that Joel Poinsett traveled the world sometimes representing the US government as a type of ambassador. While in Mexico he discovered a plant that he liked and sent samples of it home to the US. The plant became very popular and we now call it the poinsettia. The first syllable of his name is usually pronounced to rhyme with the word "coin".
Yes I have known this all my life, most everyone that grew up in this state knows about Mr. Poinsett, a member of the US House, first minister to Mexico, Secretary of War, and botanist. He brought the flowers back from Mexico, and they were named after him. The big controversy is about the "ia" tacked onto the end. For many people the "i" is silent, making a 3- syllable word. Others pronounce both, making a 4- syllable word. Johnny Carson and Doc Severinsen had a discussion about this one night on the Tonight Show. It generated thousands of letters. I am in the silent "i" camp.
When I ate sandwiches, strawberry jelly was my favorite with peanut butter. A peanut butter, butter (room temp) and pickles.....now that is yummy. Ive always heard it pronounced Point•set since we have lived in the area.
My wife prefers grape while I prefer strawberry. I also like peanut butter and banana sandwiches. I also like fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches which was a favorite of Elvis Presley.
