I'm sure I speak for hundreds when I say, "I've missed you!" As usual, however, you were worth the wait: the narrative, the voice, the rhythm, the scholarship--all of it, priceless. How can an "Essay Channel" be so thrilling it fires the imagination for days yet, so melodious it puts a forever insomniac to slumber through the night? I don't know, but it--and you--are awesome!

I've been worrying about you! Thank goodness you're back - you have been missed. Another fantastic video containing a fascinating story. Your crime coterie is ever faithful and eagerly awaits another book.
Just yesterday was wondering when our favorite true-life-murder master storyteller would be posting a new video, and, HURRAH! here you are!!! So glad you're back, Mark! And now to watch the story video... hot cuppa in hand. ------ Have just finished watching -- fascinating story, Mark! And, it's certainly apparent she did him in. One wonders at what point in time she found the letters. But, whenever it was, it's clear that the content drove her into a psychotic rage, as she could have easily divorced him and named Iris as correspondent and moved on with her life. One could imagine that the contents contained demeaning descriptions of Frances and frank statements that he didn't love her and was no longer attracted to her. Which would leave only one reason for a womanizer such as he to have gone through with the marriage after being apart for a year -- her money. I also wonder if there were some suggestions in those letters that he was going to 'get rid of' Frances which would have left him a very wealthy man with a beautiful young girl to turn to, hmmm. Because it doesn't seem reasonable that a 19 y/o is going to be willing to remain a mere mistress forever while putting up with her own husband, so there must have been some sort of plan that was evident in the letters. One that, clearly, didn't include Frances and one that she was not going to allow. Well, she sorted it for all three of them... and got away with it! By the way, that strychnine label you showed gave me a thrill as it was from a chemist in Santa Paula, Calif., my home State! Before I moved to So. Oregon six years ago, I used to drive through Santa Paula and pass that building (939 Main St - now E. Main St.) at least four or five times a month when I would drive to Ojai for a day's respite. Delighted to enjoy another historical case! I have assumed you have been researching and writing, and what good news to hear that you are working on a new book! Your return with an essay for UA-cam on s a lovely gift to your readers. Well done with this one! It reminds me of an American saying, warning young men against infidelity with a married lady. It states: “Never monkey with another monkey’s monkey!!” Good advice, I’m sure! Clearly, going against this advice can lead to a most foul fowl!
I've never heard of this case. I enjoyed listening to how you presented your analysis. I was wondering early on why Frances would kill Hubert. After, she had successfully divorced one philandering husband already. Why not use the proven method? When you presented the case, you made me realize that I hadn't taken jealousy and the classic wrath of the woman scorned into account.
I shall look forward to your second book. This narration is, as always, meticulously researched and beautifully presented. Much better than the offerings on tv.

Another masterpiece! One of the most intriguing murder mysteries ever, which I wanted to see as a book. Although, the book was written on this crime , but the author has not made much headway with regard to solving the mystery- who murdered Hubert Chevis. But this insight comes only from the research undertaken by yourself on this case, Mark! This is amazingly detailed. You give the facts, and you do so in an analytical and logical fashion. There are many facts about their life that you have discovered. You did a really great job, which underscores your higher-order thinking and literary skills and your great intuition. We are fortunate that the unsolved murder of Hubert Chevis is not a mystery anymore, as the secret has been revealed by you! Although, you named the true murderer, but she got away with murder. It is written beautifully and captivating from start to finish. This documentary is nothing short of professional: your script, editing, sketches, music, your usual high standard of narration, and, also, perfectly conveyed: the post- crime life of Mrs. Chevis and the details of Iris Morley's life . Congrats!
I checked your page and jumped up and down when I saw that you posted an episode and it is over an hour long. Im beside myself with happiness right now. Thank you so much for this surprise Mark. You have been terribly missed but we waited with anticipation and our waiting has been rewarded tenfold.

Marvelous stuff - thank you, as always. Iris Morley sounds like the most fascinating of all these characters. I guess we would have found out more about her if you had the time to turn this case into a book.
Yes indeed - I would have done so, if I had been able to locate pertinent letters from Iris on the subject or better still, letters of Hubert's to her... Unfortunately I was not able and decided to cut my losses!
I am so happy! Best Thursday in a long time. Thank you for coming out with a new essay for everyone. Only your soothing voice and outstanding script will suffice.
Very much appreciated hearing a new episode from you! I was very impressed by the literary qualities you brought to bringing out Frances's interior "queeziness" about what she did as the doctor did his examination. It reminded me very much of Poe, as in The Tell-Tale Heart. The precision you bring to these histories is always a highlight. Thank you!!
So glad you're back. This is without a doubt my favorite channel. Beautiful narration and captivating story as usual. Your storytelling is always haunting, in the best possible way.

What a great surprise & thrill to see this notification pop up. It’s great to hear from you again, Mark. A marvellous case presented in your own inimitable way. Many thanks.
Thank You for your latest contribution. Your research and observations always are a credit to you and such a pleasure to enjoy. I have witnessed a wild dog succumbing to Strychnine poisoning and , quite frankly , it was a cruel and distressing experience. That a person could deliberately poison another in this manner is totally cruel and unforgivable, eh? I had never heard of a Manchurian Partridge and I'm afraid your story has removed them from my "must try" list. ( Just joking..) After re-hearing your previous programs, there seems to be a heck of a lot of Mad Poisoners running around in the early 1900's. Easily obtained back then I suppose. Thank you again ,a breath of fresh air as usual. Regards .
Thank you for coming back, I've been looking for you periodically hoping you would return. Your voice and the stories put me right to sleep, I've missed them🙂
Just to echo pretty well everyone else here, a brilliant piece of work. Well done, it's so refreshing to hear someone so clear and incisive in their presentation.
I’m so pleased to see this! It’s been a while since the last one, but you do them so very well that the wait is more than worth it! Thank you for another excellent episode.
Well told as always! However, it was clear from the very beginnings that Hubert Chevis's wife was the most likely perpetrator. She was the only one who could make sure that her husband would eat the poisened bird. And she was in the inner circles of the household and could therefore control the destruction of incriminating evidence.
These are some of the loveliest comments I have ever read. I am only 5 minutes in and already feel I have a new favourite storyteller. What a wonderful guy :)
Thank you very much - yes, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I am astonished that so many people have enjoyed my work. So happy you are back!!! I’ve been checking these past few months to see if you had posted anything new; your channel is one of my favorites! The cases you pick are so intriguing, and the way you delve into the background and facts is so well done. Can’t wait for more!
Your stories are so interesting! It gets boring watching the same old cases over and over on American tv. Your stories are always fresh and new. Thank you for that!
Thank you - I do my best to follow the characters simply because I am fascinated to know myself! I am always somewhat disappointed when I am unable to trace them to their end - as sometimes happens, of course.
Oooooh!!! Please let us know when your new book is available. Loved the first. Anyone thinking of buying Marks book - The Murder of Madame X - The Limeslade Mystery, do it. It's a brilliant read.
I bought and read this book, also took a trip to visit Mumbles and the area to have a look around ...its very much a well to do area nowadays, but very beautiful especially the older area.
Susie - how nice! Did you find the point at which the attack occurred? I actually clambered up through brambles behind the bungalows, getting torn to pieces, and found the old bungalow The Laurels. Only the ruins remain, with trees growing up through it. But it was nice to find my way about all the specific locations as I tried to create a map of the exact locations for the book.

I have had “TGAWM” withdrawals! So glad to see you back! Looking forward to your next book, and please take good care of yourself!!! Welcome back!!! 😊
Aw - thank you so much Shoshaunna!
Welcome back i search so much to find your crime stories yours are the best
That is nice to hear - thank you, Eunice!
YAY!! I’ve been waiting for a new video!! Super excited to watch this.
Thank you! I hope it didn;t disappoint, Christine!
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder never does! I love these videos.
I'm so very happy to see you, I hope you've been well, will watch this after dinner tonight.
Yes, I am, Terry - thank you. Hope you enjoy!
I am so happy! Best Thursday in a long time. Thank you for coming out with a new essay for everyone. Only your soothing voice and outstanding script will suffice.
Totally agree.
Thank you very much, Jennifer!
Thank you!!
You are most kind - thank you!
The writer,s details by the end do it special-insightful
As much as I enjoy each essay, it is the opening that I truly love. It provides a story all in itself.
So glad you're back. This is without a doubt my favorite channel. Beautiful narration and captivating story as usual. Your storytelling is always haunting, in the best possible way.
Thank you so much Kathryn - that is wonderful!
You’re BACK! It’s wonderful to see and hear you again. 😊
Thank you, Kay!
Absolutely wonderful, the wait and anticipation was far exceeded by yet another fantastic tale, well done 👍
Many thanks, Graham.
Meiner Gotti 😮 I missed your channel. I survived the 2020 lock down listening to you everyday. Thanks for returning 💕
We missed you and you're wonderful story telling, drawings and investigative talents. We want more! Best of wishes always...From a Brit in the USA who is always restored by a fellow British accent and intelligent logic. XXXXX
I am delighted - thank you, Maria!
What a great surprise & thrill to see this notification pop up. It’s great to hear from you again, Mark. A marvellous case presented in your own inimitable way. Many thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it, Anne - thank you.
Sir, your standard of research and telling the story remains so very high. Thank you for sharing it. You really know how to take us along :).
I'm so glad you liked it - thank you!
One of my favorite channels. History with some good research.
Thank you,Katherine.
OH MY GOD! I’m so glad to see you! I’ve been very worried when you didn’t put out a video for so long.
Thank you, Alice - all is well! I hope it is with you also, and thank you.
This was a treat indeed! You have been missed by your Subscribers and friends 🙂!
( Just joking..)
After re-hearing your previous programs, there seems to be a heck of a lot of Mad Poisoners running around in the early 1900's. Easily obtained back then I suppose.
Thank you again ,a breath of fresh air as usual. Regards .
Thank you very much, Gretta.
Indeed - thank you very much, Joe.
Such a relief to see you!!! You have been missed ❤️.
Thank you very much, Emily.
Thank you for coming back, I've been looking for you periodically hoping you would return. Your voice and the stories put me right to sleep, I've missed them🙂
Hahaha! Thank you, Kathy - I think!

Just to echo pretty well everyone else here, a brilliant piece of work. Well done, it's so refreshing to hear someone so clear and incisive in their presentation.
Thank you very much!
It’s so good to have you back!
So happy you are back.
Thank you, Stacy.
I’m so pleased to see this! It’s been a while since the last one, but you do them so very well that the wait is more than worth it! Thank you for another excellent episode.
Many thanks!
I began this channel with the most modest of intentions - in fact, I doubted more than a handful of people would bother with them. It is very gratifying to know so many have enjoyed them!
So happy you are back!!! I’ve been checking these past few months to see if you had posted anything new; your channel is one of my favorites! The cases you pick are so intriguing, and the way you delve into the background and facts is so well done. Can’t wait for more!
Thank you Rachel - I am delighted you like them!
Excellent! Good to see you back again.
Many thanks!
DELIGHTED to see you back 😊😋
Then I am delighted to be back, Anne!
What a wonderful surprise. I was excited to see this in my notifications and it didn't disappoint. Thank you.
I am delighted, Susan - thanks.
Welcome back. Thank you for a another great narration.
You are welcome, Jutta - and thank you.
Your stories are so interesting! It gets boring watching the same old cases over and over on American tv. Your stories are always fresh and new. Thank you for that!
You are welcome - thank you!
was so excited to see this come up
So happy you’re back, stopped everything to listen to this very much awaited story. Thank you 😊
Thank you, Stephanie!
I've missed you and your mellifluous voice. Thank you for another essay.
Thank you, Aliena!
Wowie. That was a good one. I love how you follow the characters all the way to the end of their lives and past just the initial story. So good.
I did and it was good.
I bought and read this book, also took a trip to visit Mumbles and the area to have a look around ...its very much a well to do area nowadays, but very beautiful especially the older area.
I shouldn't get so excited when someone plugs my book - but I do! I guess there is a small child in all of us! Many thanks!
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder I've read it twice, loved it so much. And can't wait for your next offering x
Instead of love and peace, too many bring chaos, let them go.....
Mark, you have excellent reasoning powers, much to the joy of many! Bravo 😊
I am always amazed at how easy it used to be to buy deadly poisons over the counter.
So glad to see you back, I know it will be worth the wait.😃
I hope it was - thanks.
@@TheyGotAwayWithMurder indeed it was.
At last! A long awaited new video from you. I will start it right away!
Many thanks - I hope you liked it.
LOVE to hear from you again, Mark! Thank's so much for this great story....If you can find the time, please keep your incredible stories coming...😃💯👍
I will continue to do my best, Emilie! Thank you.
