  • We’ve reached our final destination Ramsgate, making history by becoming the first ever fully hydrogen-powered boat to cross the North Sea!
After sailing 169,1 kilometres with only 12.3 kilograms of hydrogen, we met up with our land crew again, who drove approximately 250 kilometres along the coast. After a long trip on the open waters with some minor technical problems, which we were all able to solve remotely from our support vessel or by the pilots themselves, we arrived at 22:40 local time. We are so proud of what we have achieved, and are celebrating as a team!

Congratulations on this achievement. Now for real world applications, not foiling because such speeds are not practical for distance in a heavier boat one would live in for several days. Foiling is great for racing and test boats but vulnerable as underwater obstacles are real as are speeding by irresponsible captains. Now, add 2 berths, a galley, a head, for maybe 4 people…basically normal weights a cruising boat would have and find a sustainable cruising solution. Hydrogen from the seawater? A combo of solar/wing sails? Real world applications basically.
