Certainly, one the the beautifulest pop-rock song ever writen. And performed by Roger Hodgson ! With "Two of Us" (Sadly too short), and "Child of Vision" Probably one the beautifulest voice in the world !
I am 70 and I went to see Roger live in Rotterdam a couple of months ago together with my daughter. My children were brought up with the music of Supertramp and are fans just like me. The concert was fantastic and people of all ages were there, oldies like me and a lot of young ones. The atmosphere was electric, a great night I will always remember. Thank you Roger for lasting so long that I could see you in concert for the second time. I wish you lots of success with your tour.
Even when watching him play the intro....(and i play as well) his relationship with the notes, and the notes to his fingers and the absolutely unusual way they move....I have my suspicions of perhaps another galaxy. .These observations and THAT VOICE! This man is MADE of music. I love how he punctuates this masterpiece. I admire him in an ethereal sense. Roger, you are a dream.
Fantastic song and awesome keyboard. This is my workout song - Yeah! Roger you must be the Master composer and songwriter of this century, pure genius.
This song by the '82 is always rest in my mind. I love all songs of Breakfast in America, but this one is amazing. The final instrumental part is simply incredible.. But i love in a particoulary way also: Brothers where beyond, Cannonball, Better days and Waiting so long. I don't understand the english in a correct way, so whent i heard this songs i understand only about they talks. The rnglish is a fantastic musically language, as a song in a song. And the Supertramp by always in my hearth, thanks to genious like Hudson..
+Paolo Ciarpaglini Love too Brother Where You Bound album, but no Roger Hodgson on this ! :) Hear this albums, they are not known : "Some Things Never Change" and "Slow Motion", it's very bluesy, jazzy, very different ;)(i'm French, sorry for my English!)
i just returned from a concert of Roger in Switzerland, today on this 8th september 2012. he played child of vision, my favourite song since i saw Supertramp for the first time in 1979. Today i had my two kids with me and i had tears in my eyes, just for the feelings to share this with them. This song gives me all the memories back. thanks Roger for all the great songs..
Wow! Roger Hodgson! Still one of your best songs! But then, they are all best songs, how does one choose? One of the greatest things about seeing you live, aside from the music is your smile. You smile at the band, you smile at the audience and you smile at the end of a song. Don't ever stop smiling!! I saw you in Cleveland years ago and you smiled a lot then too!! Thank you!!
Have a nice day, Mister Rick Davis and Mister Roger Hodgson ! Many thanks for good music, love the songs all my life. Greetings from germany, Andreas Pohl
I always thought this was one of the most underrated SUPERTRAMP songs. At least in America anyway. Love playing this one in the car when I'm on a long drive somewhere. Hope Roger tours to Cleveland someday before he's done touring....
He's coming to America and Canada this fall, so get in your fabulous car and start driving. You wouldn't want to miss their performance; they're incredible!
One of the best songs EVER. Such memories. Breakfast in America was the first album I ever owned that I LOVED every song on it. EVERY SONG. Back then to move that needle was a pain so its a strong memory for sure. I bought 2 copies. So I could put them both on the spindle.. and listen to the whole thing with out getting up. :) For those of you who are older then maybe 40 should get that.
Fantastic ending theme from a fantasic álbum!!! fabulous rhythm, fabulous piano solo, and sax fading at the end, it seems like it's craying, and Roger singing best than ever, just a powerfull song!! thanks Roger!!!!!
I was 21 years old when I first heard of Supertramp with their classic 1979 album Breakfast in America ; The whole album was and is great ; Child of Vision in my mind captures the essence of a feeling felt as we approached the end of the 1970s and entering into the 1980s, and one which we can still relate today ; I became a huge Supertramp fan after that, and continued to listen to their music ; I love their distinct and unique sound, which keyboards is a huge part of, and their meaningful lyrics ; I really hope that Roger Hodgson and Rick Davies , both founders of the band, can re-unite to form the original Supertramp.
@Luigi Raimondo Pomo Perfectly beautifully amazing in every sense! May you be staying well in this crazy times and may we all come back together soon!!
This is definitely the best song from all songs in the world of any time, ... I´ve always get tears in my eyes by hearing it to any time, just case its allways touches my soul!
I was in high school when this album came out. I still listen to it and I never tire of the brilliance of this song! Genius only begins to describe the journey Roger takes us all on in the hauntingly beautiful piano performance. I felt that way about Clocks perfomed my Chris Martin of Coldplay but Child of Vision simply blows them all away. Not sure who played this piece in the 79 album - both Roger and Rick are brilliant pianists but I know I've never heard anything better in my 45 years of enjoying music!
+Andy H Roger Hodgson is absolutely brilliant... One of the all-time best pop-rock musicians... Talking about brilliant pianists...guess you know Rick Wakeman and Tony Banks from Genesis...
I was in High School when this came out also. At the time, I was an idiot and really didn't know any Supertramp at the time. This is my favorite Supertramp song.
Love these keyboards. They are one of the best I've ever heard. They definitely trap you. Roger as a composer is in another dimension. A genious. A Master!!
I am a very frequent flyer and loathe each flight. However on every take off and landing I listen to Supertramp and find Child of Vision particuarly soothing.
This is such a powerful song. You can feel the angst that is destroying the relationship. I can only imagine how torn, frustrated and heartbroken Roger myst have been when he wrote this song. But those keyboards! Oh my those keyboards! Love it!
I bought this cassette when the album was first released and played it to death. I came across it around '97 or '98 and played it a few times until it finally bit the dust. R.I.P old friend.
Just saw Roger last week after so many years of enjoying his music, I am so in awe of him, his band and his music...I love his music more than ever if that's possible even, he is such a spiritual person, he displays such a presence of love and admiration for life, to the band, to the audience...I've never seen anybody in the industry or the planet for that matter with his wonderful nature, he is a blessing.
Saw them in Glasgow, Scotland 2 weeks ago. Absolutely fabulous. Never known a band to sound so good when live - hope Roger and his band come back soon. Enjoy when you see them on the 21st. Fantastic musicians!!!!
Roger and Rick were perfect duo to make good music ! The time will never be so good . In new songs I miss Roger or I miss Ricks voice. Rick and Roger together ‐ best music !
Met Roger at the Edgewater Hotel in Seattle in '79 on the Breakfast In America tour. What a sweetheart of a guy - spent close to an hour with me, bought me breakfast in the hotel cafe, introduced me to the rest of the band, and was incredibly kind and generous.
Supertramp helped me threw the worst part of my teenage years. It spoke clearly to me without being violent in tone or lyric. It spoke the truth as I saw things. So glad this music has survived time :)
We were fortunate to have known and listened to this music. It has a power charmer, a charm that creeps into the depths of our fibers and breathe. Hear our ego that expands and reinforces, for a moment, and 'masters of the world. Probably this song is my second favorite one , from the unique album BREAKFAST IN AMERICA (after the homonym song). As far as I remember it was last in the row and in my car cd player was always FIRST in the play list for mainly two reasons: Incredible piano performance by Roger and almost 5-6 minutes duration. An incredible joy to hear repeatedly this unforgettable hit!!!!
I am a Supertramp/Roger Hodgson fan from the begin of Supertramp. "Child Of Vision" is not a particularly happy song, although it's one of my favorites! When my youngest son passed away some 8.5 years ago I was devastated, as you can imagine.. In the months that followed after my son's death Supertramp was able to pull me through some of the darkest times of my life, especially "Child Of Vision" was able to ease my pain. For that I will be eternally grateful to Mr.Roger Hodgson.. In a way he saved my life.
Just went and bought nearly every album on cd last night on ebay after waking up again to this awesome band. I worked out how i managed to 'lose' them, i had all their stuff on tape/vinyl and never upgraded to cd back in the day.
I remember they were giving such a great concert in Paris....Roger had made a real virtual carreer in Belgium. He had said for 30 years Goodbye to the old Supertramp. He still is surviving!
Hodgson is one of my favorite all-time songwriters. I was so fortunate to see Roger's Comeback Tour in 1997 at the Candy Box in Seattle. It's a relatively tiny venue. It was general seating and I was first in line at the door when they opened it. My wife and I sat at the table right in front of center-stage. Roger hadn't toured in over 10 years and I wasn't sure what to expect...and to my surprise, it turned out to be a kind of Supertramp Unplugged. Roger played all by himself on his childhood piano, an old organ and an acoustic guitar he played as a kid. No drums, no bass, and no Davies. It was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. I felt blessed to actually be able to shake his hand. It was like Roger was live in my living room singing all of these songs to a small group of friends. He sounded unbelievable!
The BEST ever version for Child of Vision... The piano solo here is a MASTERPIECE!!!
What a dream come true, to be that talented! Amazing!
Very nice TFS
Awesome............Very talented indeed!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Roger Hodgson is, in my opinion, one of the greatest musicians and composers of 20th century popular music.
+ Nitramyar sin duda.
Bingo!!!
bom dia amigo meu que eu te aviso prévio aviso prévio aviso prévio aviso prévio aviso prévio aviso de recebimento
Easily. Top 10 I believe. Up there with the greats of all time.
David Bowie is way better BUT he is good
This music is legendary, pure medicine for the Soul ❤
Certainly, one the the beautifulest pop-rock song ever writen. And performed by Roger Hodgson ! With "Two of Us" (Sadly too short), and "Child of Vision" Probably one the beautifulest voice in the world !

NICE ONE RICHARD.....MUSIC HAS NO RESTRICTIONS....IF IT MOVES YA,,IT MOVES YA.....CHEERS MY FREIND.....
Une autre dimension... Mélodie grandiose, claviers extraordinaires, vague à l'âme et nostalgie... On n'a jamais fait mieux !
The Best Song of Supertramp eve. Thank You Roger for the repeated joy of your music.
Saw Roger yesterday in Rotterdam and it was wonderful. I haven't seen a better performer and band than this.

Espetacular.
I am so Thankful for Supertramp and everyone associated with them. Truly original artists. John Robert Saunders March 27, 2018

A very underrated and lost Supertramp classic.

Supertramp-Roger Hodgson, just brilliant. So, so heartfelt lyrics and Roger on that keyboard- sheer heaven.
UN BRANO MERAVIGLIOSO CON UN ASSOLO CERVELLOTICO FINALE DI TASTIERA E PIANOFORTE CHE FRULLA I NOSTRI NEURONI COME LA MAIONESE CHE POI IMPAZZISCE.

Music History
I absolutely adore this guy ! The Music, The Lyrics, The Voice, The Man Has Got It All !!

I was honoured enough to see this wonderful and soulful man in concert two years back, what a happy and wonderful entertainer!
In the end of the 70's i've heard this one for the first time and was sold .........................................

Andy H ur right
I think Rick played the piano solo (at least he did on their tour in 1978-1979, but the song is composed by Roger Hodgson.
I was in High School when this came out also. At the time, I was an idiot and really didn't know any Supertramp at the time. This is my favorite Supertramp song.
The definitive backbone of that wonderful band....
Brings back so many memories.... just love it.......... I am memorised by most of Supertramp music.. always have been.............
I think this is their best song.
that's lovely 2 here
+Graham Jones - It's lovely here too.
:-)
Love these keyboards. They are one of the best I've ever heard. They definitely trap you. Roger as a composer is in another dimension. A genious. A Master!!
I am a very frequent flyer and loathe each flight. However on every take off and landing I listen to Supertramp and find Child of Vision particuarly soothing.
This songs signature notes make you stop and remember this unique, individual song that is unforgettable!!!
This is such a powerful song. You can feel the angst that is destroying the relationship. I can only imagine how torn, frustrated and heartbroken Roger myst have been when he wrote this song. But those keyboards! Oh my those keyboards! Love it!

excellent! I have to see Roger in Live performance, once in my life. He is just awesome.
One of the most fantastic piano solos I've ever heard, by that guy behind Roger. Outstanding!
Fantastic. Such a groove. Roger is one of the most underrated musicians ever.
unforgetable song memories great band greetings from croatia
Roger and Rick were perfect duo to make good music ! The time will never be so good . In new songs I miss Roger or I miss Ricks voice. Rick and Roger together ‐ best music !
It's so greatful, he IS a Genie.

Usually from the first notes you know that it is the unique sound of Roger Hodgson. Thanks for sharing your great creativity Roger.
Supertramp helped me threw the worst part of my teenage years. It spoke clearly to me without being violent in tone or lyric.
It spoke the truth as I saw things. So glad this music has survived time :)
One of the bests songs of this classic album. haven't heard it for an estimated 20 years until today but still know every word.
Excellent.... One of the best songs I ever heard.... A great composer/singer.....
One of the best songs written for keyboards and piano. Chords that enter within you. Undoubtedly this talent of Roger is unique.
The last song on the 1979 album Breakfast in America. A true classic from the last century
We were fortunate to have known and listened to this music. It has a power charmer, a charm that creeps into the depths of our fibers and breathe. Hear our ego that expands and reinforces, for a moment, and 'masters of the world. Music leaves a mark as a fire within us and the energy and the charge to throw us proud in battle every day, as vincitoti.Nemmeno Roger knew the power of his music .........
Eins der besten Supertramp Songs.
After all these years of entertainment, Roger sounds better and better. Don't ever stop composing.
"Love Roger Hodgson, a true professional." ~ Neville Bardoli
huge fan since Aug 1977. oct 79 first concert ever for me. Supertramp in Bremen

The best of the best ! May this man continue to play and spread joy in all future..
Strong souvenir listening this part in the plane who brought me to the States, for my first trip. Great....
Great song! One of my favorites. This song brings me back to 80's mood when I lived in Sweden.
The man is BRILLIANT! What a classic, timeless piece!

A great song that so-called classic rock stations never play off of Breakfast In America.
This song brings back such fine childhood memories! Hopefully Roger plays this song next January @ Koninklijk Circus in Brussels!
Amazing music,spesial lyrics,fantastic band!!
