I took a hiatus for a year and now ready go back to work force looking at more hybrid or remote. Always remember never stay loyal to any job and have side hustles or income.
Thanks for sharing your insight! Definitely hit the nail on the head with side income, I always give this advice to new grads especially, since they're the most vulnerable to layoffs in this job market. Wishing you the best of luck when applying! 🦾
Well, I did that in 2021 and I'm still struggling to get a full-time, long-term job. It's just madness out there!
Wow, even with having previous experience? That's crazy. Though I do have a friend of a friend who also couldn't find a role after a layoff back in 2020, but she was in data analytics. Wishing you the best in your job search, dont give up! @Wesjapa100
@@WithSandra I also studied Data Analytics in 2021 but got bored and gave up.
I was working in the Sales Team of an IT company in Russia at that time (I'm not Russian though). After the invasion in 2022, I moved to Portugal, and I only got a few simple jobs that year here, like Customer Service for Airbnb. Started studying Cybersecurity in July 2023, got my ISC2 CC last March and that's the summary of my last 3 years: it's been pretty rough! 😅
Thank you and good luck to you too! )
Good luck getting your next position, and enjoy the trip
Fingers crossed! Thank you Francis, really appreciate it! :)
Glad you are back on the Market. Best of Luck!
Sandra is back on her grind, u got this!! 💪. It’s funny because you’re always encouraging us now we return the favor. Have a great vacay.
This channel has so much potential! Keep growing!
Good luck!Awesome video
Great vlog! Loved seeing your desk setup and also Sharmeleon fan haha. The job search for me has been rough in that I'm still trying to get even an interview. In order to meet 30-50 job applications, would you apply to big companies as well as smaller, local companies?
Welcome back
would love too see what processes you are using to reach out to recruiters and how serious you take tailoring your resume for the positions you really want
Keep us updated on your search progress, I'm interested in seeing how it goes for you as I've heard that even the requirements are obscene and now you have experienced/qualified guys competing for entry level positions, good luck out there. Does your job search extend to state/federal positions or is exclusively private sector?
Hello,
I am currently studying IT/Cyber Security?Cloud structure... looking for something remote that I a smart enough to do and struggling. All this cyber security and cloud stuff is so technical and mind melting... I don't know that I can comprehend it all. I would just try for help desk roles but they don't pay the same or more than I am currently making now. In this economy, I can't afford to take any hits on pay. It's fun to see an experienced person looking for a new role!
And a little furball right next to your setup :3 🐈
Just passed my sec + like an hour ago so now im looking for entry level positions
Been applying to jobs left and right and cant find shit right now gotten interviews but no dice been at this February
I'm looking too but agree that it is hard.
I don't know if you took a full gap year, but I was just wondering if you have been studying frequently and doing projects to keep up to date during this time because I feel like I forget things pretty fast as in this world of Cybersecurity, it is quite overwhelming and it seems you need to know everything, so when you start learning a new tool you kind of forget the previous one pretty quickly and so on.
Hi Sandra, I am currently working as a PM role for at least 5 projects currently. 1 of my project which are managing SOC. Somehow this project client are the most difficult and tough project which i managing with my team. When I dig into it, I somehow loving what Cyber is and how it can change someone life. I have been in IT for at least 5 years (5 years mostly in Infra, and I recently applied for my first part time degree program in Cyber Security. What do you recommend for my first job in cyber and what are the cyber certs out there is a must to get?
I am apply to GRC, PCI, and IAM roles. I totally agree that it is a numbers game. I on which sites can you apply to jobs simultaneously? I have been applying to job at a time. What would you suggest I do to increase the number of jobs that I apply to?
Best of luck but yes the Job Market is pretty bad right now based on my guest's perspectives.
That sandwich looking dank 🤩, starved rn too
Is there a link for the discord?
Yes! Discord linked here :D - discord.gg/2YZUVbbpr9
Ugh, tell me about it... I'm also in the same boat of applying to jobs
I try to find 5-10 jobs a day I can apply to, not many entry level jobs to apply for. Just wondering, would you go back to your old job if they wanted you back?
I definitely would if they were hiring! They back filled my role a while back so they dont have any openings right now, but if they did, I would def apply
btw have you applied to new grad roles or internships or rotational programs? They're usually titled differently from typical entry level roles so that could give you more options, the peak season when these roles open for applications is mid-summer ish from what I remember, as early as July. If you're still looking by then, I'd definitely search using those keywords. Wishing you the best of luck Evan!!
@@WithSandra yea I’ve applied to a couple, but since you worked a rotational program I’m kinda hoping to land something like that. I will definitely highlight those keywords in my searches, thank you!
Oh also check out apprenticeships! There's likely way less candidates applying so you'll have a better chance of hearing back - www.apprenticeship.gov/apprenticeship-job-finder (saw a few cyber ones on there) I'd use keyworks cyber security, IT, etc. whatever's relevant for you, GL! 💪
I'll admit I didn't really like your videos at the start lol BUT after seeing your cat shirt, I've changed my mind. You're pretty entertaining and if you have that many cats, WHY ARENT THEY IN YOUR VIDEOS? HUH
This cant be serious
.
Thanks for watching! :)
I am an International Student, Recently Graduated. What’s you opinion on Cyber Security job Market in the coming future, when can we expect better?
Hi Rajesh, congratz on recently graduating! I would say it's significantly harder for international students, just considering everything around finding companies who sponsor and how competitive those spots are. I'd say things are definitely moving in the right direction with the latest white house press release for skill-based hiring ( www.whitehouse.gov/oncd/briefing-room/2024/04/29/press-release-wh-cyber-workforce-convening/ ) but it doesn't make the job market a whole lot easier. I'd try your best applying to rational programs or apprenticeships if you can. Even local IT or cyber companies near you who may be hiring to get that technical experience, I've seen a lot of those in areas like NYC metro or DMV. Wishing you the best of luck!!
@@WithSandraThank You respond, Appreciate it. would you recommend cyber security field for international students based current market conditions.
Or else better to go with software developer roles.
apply for senior analyst roles! i’m a senior analyst at my job and I have 1 YOE. sometimes senior vs non is just dependent on the job grade
I thought you wanted to quit for sure.
I did quit last summer actually! This was always meant to be a temporary hiatus though (due to burnout), the job search is definitely slower considering everything going on in the job market but I'm still looking!
@@WithSandraI'm feeling the same as I started applying for soc level1
@@WithSandraI think the job search is a vicious circle where applying for 50 jobs a day significantly contributes to the log jam that makes it hard to get the job. It's time for a new system other than spray and pray.
Are you single?
Did you vote for Biden&Harris
Your last name is weak? 😂😂
We greatly appreciate you putting your pride aside and sharing this because I'm sure we are all going through the same thing in many different ways. @JoshMadakor may still be working remotely overseas so I'm sure he's someone you may want to reach out to. Take care and best of luck in your new adventure!!!
