Just finished making my first belt using some scrap water buffalo. I wet molded around buckle to make nice and tight, but the segma snaps are killin me. I'm gonna go with the Chicago screws. As always thank you for the EXCELLENT video training.
You’re such a legend man I have gotten so much from you’re amazing vids thanks so much for the time it takes to shoot and edit and most of all share your skills and knowledge from over the years I’m fairly new to the craft and it’s amazing how cool this community is with helping each other out Respect to you and your friend who keep pumping out these UA-cam’s
@@Daniel-mq3nf I love this response because it's the first thing I thought of! However, it's nice of him to support a small business and buy his products too :)
@@Daniel-mq3nf still gotta buy some tools and materials and put a fair bit of time into it for 3 belts...probably makes more sense to him to just buy them inetad of go through all the hassle.
chicago screws weren't on your supply list in the link. Can you please share what length of screws you used with this ounce leather belt (1/2", 1/4", 3/8", 5/8")? Thanks in advance.
I would probably use a separate thinner piece of leather to hold down the buckle, with a stitch right behind it. This would eliminate the bulk made after bending such a thick belt. Great vid, thanks!
yep! once you get to 1.5" strapping a full 3/4" keeper just looks weird to me sometimes haha, so i go a little bit thinner - but most of the time that's a good rule of thumb to follow!
Wish SOME video included measurements from buckle entry to middle hole AT SIZE! Like, “measure from the entry at the prong to (36”) for a 36” beltsize (middle of five holes), then add 10” for the tongue; two holes either side of that middle measured one”.
Hello! Could you suggest or advise me some books about the history of the appearance of leather belts? And also books on how to make belts according to English canons and rules?)
Followed the link for the tools and almost passed out! I guess if you make belts for a living it is worth it to pay, but I can buy multiple belts for the cost of one of the tools. Amazon has cheaper stuff for the beginner. Good video though!
Hi, I do not know if there is an ideal video of yours to ask this question but here goes. What set of stitching chisels would you recommend as a starter in leathercraft? Or would say getting a 4mm and 5mm set to start be a better way to go?
Thanks so much for all your great videos. I notice that you don't finish your natural veg tan projects. I tend to finish with Neatsfoot oil and Leather Balm (or whatever strikes my fancy at the time). Do you have a preference for a finish or do you leave all your natural veg tan projects unfinished?
I like to use them unfinished for a couple months and then hit them with Fiebing's Mink Oil, then Aussie conditioner or Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP. Using them unfinished get some really nice contrasty patina going, but that's personal preference - you can oil them up before use too!
looks superb but is likely to require at least a craftsman s experience. you have to have previous experience in handtool use if I tried it it would nt be a great job i fear! it does look superb but craftsmanship is of the essence here.

i found this in my dads search history after i disrupted his daily reading of the newspaper
LOL

I randomly found your YT channel, but I'm so glad i did. Just ordered 3 belts from your shop 👌🏻
How was the price??
Why buy it when he shows you how to make it?

Does chicago screw needs to be the exact thickness of the leather when folded or they need to come down smaller in height. Thanks
How do you determine the length? Where does that center hole go in relation to the waist size of the person you are measuring?
As usual, a clear and straightforward tutorial. Love your tutorials!
I’m brand new to leather crafting and I can’t tell you how much your videos help.
I’ve just done this. Thanks for the great video 👍🏻

Always put lock tight on your Chicago screws...I learned the hard way lol custom after custom losing them cause they come loose

while it does look prettier, it's not nearly as strong
Skiving is the answer
This will help me since there are no leather shops where I live. Keep up the good work!
What about putting some stitches close to the latch to make it tighter? Would that work?
Excellent tutorial
Somewhere I think I’ve heard rule of thumb that the keeper width should be half the width of the belt itself. Nice video! Thanks!

I found half the width on my 35mm wide belt a tad thick to be honest! I ended up doing a 1/3 and it looked decent
Jezza Tyz Good to know, I’m sure ultimately your eyes must be the judge!
@@grimtt that's all i did to he fair aha, just kept stripping it until it looked good then measured it haha. Accuracy 👌
Rule of thumb is that the thumb should be half the width of your toe...😜
That was simple and cool
Yes exactly I might want to do this but it may be cheaper but one at Walmart
Thank you, for your video 🤎🧡
Thanks dear friend... 🌿
Very excellent video sir
Hello, How can I align perfectly the holes on the belt? Is there any tool for to align them?
Awesome- THANK YOU
Any recommendation for a pattern download covering many belt widths and end holes for buckles?
Nice video, thanks. How do you protect your leather products? It seems like you just keep the leather without any finish.

Great video I was wondering what would be the main tools you would need I checked the link but there’s like 40 tools there
Thank You very much, un trabajo precioso
Super useful tips as always! 😊👍
You should make like a tactic type belt, like it can hold flashlights and small gear
I’m wanting to make a belt to wear with a suit. What do you recommend for smoothing the backside/rough side of the leather?
good night
What type of leather did you use for this belt? And the thickness of it? Hugs
What weight if leather are you using there
How do you install the brass staple?
Whats the best way to get the leather for these belts? Do you buy them in strips, or would a sheet be a better option?
Bravo!!!
Question: I own a gym in Norway and want to make old time custom weight belts. Any thoughts
What do you recommend for a belt liner?
What is the thickness of the leather?
Heck yeah! Make my own Hanks Belt gun belt:) HA!
What are the full list of the tools you are using
Followed the link for the tools and almost passed out! I guess if you make belts for a living it is worth it to pay, but I can buy multiple belts for the cost of one of the tools. Amazon has cheaper stuff for the beginner. Good video though!
What would you do about the fuzzy stuff on the underside of the belt?
Don’t just wax it- that’ll come off on pants
Wow.. this is a nice tutorial
What size are the belt holes?
Excellent video I will do this.
How would I do this with a plate style buckle? I have a vintage one I want to use.
What is that Red Slab you are using? I am new to Leather works, and would surely like to get one. THX
What is the exact colour of the belt?
Hi there where do I buy those templets please.

Where can I download the leather belt pattern?
Didn't show us how to size the belt. Measure from the buckle end?

*Philza was here.....*
0:20 That's half an inch wide??!
I must be using a bad punch set cause I can't get through the leather
Looks like first screw is too far from the buckle. I mean that buckle is moving too much inside the loop.
I've emailed you twice about an order I placed. Can I get a response? Thanx
I'll look it up! Sorry for the late response!

DON'T ASSUME SCREWS' GENDER!
