It has fans wondering if Insomniac pulled a fast one, and there’s some new content dropping this month we’ve gotta talk about.First up, let’s break down the Spider-Man 2 DLC update. Yesterday, Marvel hosted a New York Comic Con Marvel Games Special Presentation, and while there was plenty of speculation about Marvel's Wolverine, Marvel’s Venom game, and potential new reveals, a lot of fans were hoping for news on the Spider-Man 2 DLC. And while we didn’t get a traditional DLC announcement, we did get something unexpected-Spider-Man 2 is coming to PC much sooner than expected.Yep, Spider-Man 2 is dropping on PC in January with enhanced specs and gameplay, which means PC mods are about to go wild.
The trailer confirmed Spider-Man 2 PC will launch on Steam and the Epic Game Store, making it the fastest PC port for Insomniac Games. So, expect mods to roll in quickly, with everything from non-Marvel characters to the Spider-Man PC community's, uh, more creative modding efforts. Let’s be real-most of the mods are going to revolve around MJ and the other female characters.But the big talking point? Insomniac finally addressed the Spider-Man 2 DLC news head-on. They made it sound like there wouldn’t be any additional story content, leaving many fans feeling like they just got trolled.
But let’s not forget that earlier leaks, including the Spider-Man 2 Carnage DLC, were discovered in the game files during the New Game Plus update. Insiders like Paul Tassi from Forbes have already speculated that Insomniac might be converting the Spider-Man 2 DLC into a standalone Venom game instead-or maybe even building it into Spider-Man 3.Fans were quick to point out that the whole situation feels similar to how Santa Monica Studios handled the God of War: Valhalla DLC-which was stealth-dropped after they initially said there wouldn’t be any.

@@maribelmalave2372 The issue is, i dont think they'd release a PC Port for the game already if it wasn't done. So since they announced a PC Port is coming out at the end of January is making me believe they are probably done as far as story content for the game.

No disrespect, but this video seems like a lot of cope. I don't think comparing Santa Monica's one-off situation with God of War, where they released a title DLC a year later, should be used to measure if Spider-Man 2 is doing the same. There have been multiple instances-and I would argue significantly more-where developers said they weren't doing DLC, and they indeed did not release any.
As for the Twitter account situation, it's not uncommon for the person managing those accounts to genuinely not have detailed information about the game. So, I don't think that’s a reliable indicator of anything related to the game itself. That’s not to say they lack knowledge, but often, they don’t know the inner workings of things.
With all that in mind, I agree it is strange to have seen the leaked DLC and then hear them say there's no planned content. I’ll give you that. However, an easy explanation is that they may have simply misspoken, or more likely, things have changed.
What I think is happening is that they are very likely gearing up to focus heavily on Spider-Man 3, which, in my opinion, they should be doing.

Not to sound ignorant, but why wouldn’t they announce DLC? Like hypothetically if they were going to release it, why not tell the community? I don’t understand what they gain from keeping everything under wraps. I’d think they would want to build excitement and hype about new content coming whenever.
Probably to make sure if development gets halted or shifted twords a new game, they'll have more time without anticipation and not make false promises
I really hope DLC does get released. because we have characters like Carnage who should definitely either be DLC for this game, or the main villain for the Venom game. the leaked Beetle DLC as well as possibly a Spider-Verse and Chameleon DLC would be cool, but I think they need to be finished with the symbiote storyline UNLESS they make a Venom game.

I kinda feel like it was obvious the games not getting dlc. Spider-Man 1 got dlc just months after launch. Also there focus is probably Wolverine and the leaked spinoff venom game. Which I rather they focus on that than Spider-Man 2 dlc anyways.
I think they either wanted to do the DLC and couldn't finish it, or didn't want to do the DLC but didn't want to tell people the truth. Or are trolling and prepping a shadow drop
@@SadotTheGamer yeah I mean I think dlc was definitely planned because Spider-Man 2 had a budget of 300million and that money was spent on something other than the base game because it’s not a huge leap over Spider-Man 1 and miles morales, just for the base game to be 300million.

I don't understand why so many people are up in arms over no DLC. They didn't announce that there would ever be DLC, and what was shown in the leaks could have been old plans which changed. There could still be remnants in the game files of those old plans, which happens in a lot of games. People basing all that anger off of something we were never supposed to see in the first place is pretty brainless. It's probably getting rolled over into Spider-Man 3 or some sort of in between game now.
It's the lack of communication that is really driving the outrage

If/when the DLC happens, then they'll announce it when it is ready. Until then, I don't really see a need for them to communicate anything since it wasn't supposed to be shown, anyway.
@SadotTheGamer I guess they could just say "This was an old plan and it isn't happening", but that's assuming that the DLC really isn't happening. For all we know, they're heads down working on it right now. Either way, I don't think it really warrants getting hung up on, cause the problems the game has isn't going to be fixed by DLC.
@@KFXGthere were data leaks of dlc in a patch earlier in the year and 2018 spiderman had dlc and was longer in terms of main campaign and dlc Spiderman 2 seemed rushed and it was glitches galore...at the end of the day Insomniac can do whatever they want but that doesn't make it right ..they could've been upfront
Yes. When your previous game has DLC and fans ask about dlc, you have an obligation to give them an honest answer. Especially when you accidentally leak the existence of the DLC
After playing the side quests with the cultists, I was made to expect a DLC where we fight Carnage. You can’t just hype us up like that and then expect us to believe there won’t be any payoff.
They should make a “Something apPAULling” mod/unlockable item/mission reward with a “Paul NPC or Punching/Bop bag” that just hangs/spawns around Peter/MJs house, maybe in their bedroom or garage, to just punch an “let of some steam”, make it look similar to a “random hipster NPC with glasses, beard and man-bun”, and he’s bound to a specific small area, so even if he tries to run, he can’t run past his “invisible NPC box”
Now we need an Insomniac Avengers game & see where tf they were during all Spider-Man games.
Honestly, I feel sick thinking I have nothing to look forward to. But I also feel a small bit of hope that they will just throw it at us next month during the game awards. Like GOW Valhalla

In the question of "will there be dlc?" The absense of a yes, is a no. It is, and will be no until such point when or if it is yes. We can speculate and theorize all the live long day, but its just an endless trail of dissapointment for an undefined or indefinite amount of time.
Close the book on this narrative, everybody. A leak is not a confirmation, inclusion in one of the 3 games of the series is not confirmation, what an entirely separate studio does with an entirely separate franchise is not a confirmation, the studio presenting at an event is not confirmation. The only comfirmation is a straight up "yes, we are making dlc for this game".
Honestly, i wouldnt be surprised if insomniac outright scrapped the dlc as a quick backhand to the community for their absolute lack of empathy towards everything the studio went through, over what the community felt entitled to. I wouldn't be surprised if its queued up and ready for an update the SECOND the community stops complaining about it.
"We have no plans for future story related content", there is no lines to read between. Its not the plan, its not in the pipeline, its nothing. So youtube, reddit, facebook, tiktok, ign and whatever other blog posts need to just give it a rest. All anyone is doing is riling eachother up and making an already bordering-on toxic community that much more toxic.
Honestly the way Spider-Man 2 ended, doesn’t really bother me about it having no dlc.
Like another user said all Spider-Man 2 dlc might be going into Spider-Man 3. Which would make the game longers and have more content but my concern is that they might not be able to close all these story threads
There is 0 reason to wait a year for a DLC….. the game is not that big nor is it that worked on…. It’s barely a step up from the first game with slightly different graphics and added gliding which is basic coding…… nothing in the game is that hard to do for people who know how to be a dev other than being trained by the company to its standards for the game, which all employees are….. the reality is spider man 2, is being looked at through rose tinted glasses…. We are either gonna wait a year for a MID level DLC or not gonna get one….. this content should’ve been done but like the base game being rushed and not complete and half baked like to is the work ethic and transparency from the company…. Make no mistake it’s a super hero game so it plays on child hood memories and a video game you are addicted…. They’ll do whatever they want and give you any excuse and you’ll buy the game no matter what. Or forgive them immediately when they release a new game.
Update they have no plans of dropping a dlc… so a shorter story for “quality”, rushed game…. And it’s $70 when that game literally could’ve ran on ps4….. we were robbed.
The DLC’s are gonna be turned into 3. The big bad will be Green Goblin with Doc Oc, Carnage, as early/mid game boss fights. The beetle/rhino will return as minor villains and Miles will have to face the Prowler again. My prediction is that Green Goblin puts together the sinister six to take down the spider men.

No, they would have been completely fine to do the two, but because of the layoffs, THAT'S what really made them shoot the dlc down, and instead choose to putting their efforts into saving Wolverine from getting scrapped like, I think, a couple of their other projects had to, not just the SM2 DLC
Let's face it everyone. This is why leaks are back for the video game industry. If Insomniac wasn't hacked and their plans for Spiderman 2 DLC weren't leaked then we would be talking about the game in a different light. Leakers aren't good for the video games industry.

They did actually cancel the online spinoff thing and it had a trailer ready as well, for all we know Sony could've just told them to focus on wolverine for now and moved the remaining assets to venom or sm3

I love insomiac and everything they have done for the spiderman games. Truly got me through the toughest times and I'm not throwing any negativeity,yes I'm sad but i would have wished we wouldn't have had to wait almost a full year for the update of "no were not gonna" they could have given us something just a bit sooner so someof us didn't string our heart strings out.
This is why the first game is still better. Story felt complete, extea story content, and hell each suit even had a mod.
I hope this game is the last time Harry Osborn is ever Venom in any media.

Feels like they scrapped the whole DLC idea after the cyber hack and the accidental leak on an update they pushed. Shame they just did not come out earlier and plainly said, do not expect DLC, it was cancelled.

It kinda makes sense as SPOILERS at the end of spiderman 2 peter kinda retired as spiderman to settle down with mj and fully gave the reigns to miles to protect the whole city so to have dlc set so soon after 2 involving peter against carnage, chameleon or the spiderverse wouldn't really make sense story wise and diminish the end of 2 so i expect the venom game will include carnage and be about eddie brock/venom and not involved miles or peter and then in spiderman 3 a few years later peter will come back maybe with a kid

Bro, I swear there’s not a DLC I 100% everything on Spider-Man remastered and Miles Morales if that gives me enough time to do all of that then there should at least be one DLC by now
Honestly, this game fell not worse than the first game but boring in the first game you had a lot of missions where you have to play as Peter and it made you feel more in touch with these characters yeah you get the flashbacks and some other small ones, but just not the same plus there were those challenges in Dr octopuses lab even in Miles Morales, there was the birthday treasure hunt and the mixtape quests that do deeper into the characters relationships with each other I just feel like some of the games effort went towards the boring stealth missions it’s the only one I really liked was the school one
Pfft, in comparison the first game is way better. Yes the combat and swinging is better in Spiderman 2 but overall polish, Content and game goes to the first one. This sequel overall felt rushed and unfinished leaving us disappointed and now worried for wolverine.
I think people are overly romanticizing the first game. The community was even more toxic toward Spider-Man PS4 when it came out than they are with Spider-Man 2 right now. People hated most of the side content apart from Taskmaster, especially Screwball. There were like 6 or 7 MJ missions, all of them much worse than the ones in Spider-Man 2. People liked the overall story but thought the final boss fight was terrible (it was). They also complained about the swinging speed and lack of tricks. The game also needed some additional polish, which it eventually got. It's just trendy right now to say Spider-Man 2 was worse. In 5 years the community will be calling it a masterpiece while complaining about Spider-Man 3.

I still think insomniac and naughty dogs needs to quit beating around the bushes. 1, the way things ended when th leader of the flames caught spiderman on fire and got the symbiote and then said CARNAGE made it seem like there was going to be a dlc. I understand the decisions they are making but why even put the flames part in it and leave us hanging making us think there is going to be more to the story. If they don't continue the story then why buy it. Don't leave us with a cliffhanger, leaving us puzzled. The game is great but the flames part could have been left out if they weren't going add more to the story when the game itself came out.

They think anybody is gonna get any other version than the standard edition for Spider-Man 3, lies, stolen money, and added trash frl, it was cool at launch, but they promised too much

Honestly just a bit sad ngl. I get they got hacked, but the game is just so short especially compared to the first game it’s like miles morales size if not a tiny bit bigger and it’s supposed to be a whole ass sequel. Once the simbiotes are introduced they ruin every single combat encounter I was hoping for a dlc small or not so I could escape getting stuff in simbiote fights every ten seconds in fights. The fights are fun until you fight these unstaggerable unfun goons that legit just come out of nowhere mid fight with normal fun enemies. The traversal is fun but the second you’re fighting after venom is done you’re stuck fighting terrible goons. And the side missions literally lead to nowhere and cliff hangers so. Not sure how they’re gonna sort that unless Spider-Man 3 has twice as much as the first game packed into it
Does Insomniac even have time for DLC? Don’t they have like 30 other Marvel games to make?

I'm still baffled you can't trigger specific crimes in the open world like you could in Miles Morales. So many little nit picks and they start to add up after a while. Because of this SM2 is my least favorite of the 3 insomniac Spider-Man games. Like even some of the wingsuit colors still haven't been fixed and they are releasing the PC version. So much love in the other games... where did it all go
