Thanks to Monster and Tiger I got to see and tape this amazing show for 20 bucks.
This is Chester Benninghton singing the Smashing Pumpkins song "Bullet with Butterfly Wings". Along with Dave, Billy,Chris,and sitting in on drums for this show was Travis Barker of Camp Freddy
I dare anyone to find another lead singer that can cover songs LIVE like Chester~ Such versatility!

@Elegant James Chester was also one of the most humble talents. Got to meet him and he literally got embarrassed when I complimented him on his talent. He will forever be missed by many A wonderful soul :(

@@LPcougar from stories his friends told, it sounds like he was extremely insecure and didn't actually think he was that good or deserving of praise (which is crazy, but that's what depression does to you). You can even see it in the Ray that whenever anyone asked him how he learned to sing so well or anything of that sort, he always passed the praise on to Mike and gave him the credit for developing Chester's vocals.

No matter what this man did in his whole career he did it with class and gave 110% such a awsome performer. I can't help but wonder what really made him leave this world that embraced him with all our hearts.😥
Amazing Man, amazing how the best front men have a quality and a charisma that can never be reproduced once they are gone. Love hearing him sing, but always a tinge of sadness attached.
I just only found out that Billy Corgan said this after Chester's death: "Chester was obviously one of the best rock singers ever, and it was such a great honor when he covered Bullet with Butterfly Wings."

I just watched LPs last show and Chester looked so incredibly tired just beat down here he had so much anger and energy , it just makes me sad for him and his family and friends and all that love him . He sang alot about loosing his way , he really did. RiP

And i just compaired the actual lyrics to the lyrics Chester used. He fucked the lyrics up in the beginning.. but then he got the rest right. And his voice sounded great.. good screaming. So then again alot of the comments saying he completely destroyed the song are exaggerations.

@jessepetas Well, that's fine. You're just picky. So am I, nothing wrong with that. But that's the only complaint that a couple of people have brought up about Chesters' voice. How exactly is it whiny to you? To me he has a very powerful voice that strikes out a lot of the meaning in any song that he sings, so I don't see how it can be whiny.

for me chester is a better singer/vocalist than billy....chester's versatility is incredible....he can sing almost everything....even GNR songs and other classic rock songs that kinda hard to sing for most vocalist....

I don't think it was a bad cover. I guess people just tend to overreact. He sang the song his way, he doesn't try to be the singer he's not. With his kind of voice he can sing many different things. Inless you're a true CB fan, you wouldn't know that. I've looked up the lyrics to this song, he was just a little bit off with the lyrics but nobody's perfect. So inless you're an actual CB fan i suggest you keep any of your petty assumptions to yourself. Thank you.
His voice sounded great. But he fucked up the lyrics. Pretty much this cover wasn't perfect and the wong lyrics he used fucked up. But hey we all make mistakse. Hes done pretty good at all the other songs he covered.
