Great video. I’d like to ask your opinion on the F16AJ. I have been struggling a bit migrating from the 11.3 area up to 12.7. I can usually just break even on k/d by staying low and flying far left then turning in. Do you think climbing just below contrail altitude as you show in your videos would be preferred/viable despite only having SARH missiles or would staying low and flying left be a better option in your opinion? Thanks for any response, I appreciate the videos.
Whilst I haven't played the AJ specifically it's in one of those rough spots, the loadout just doesn't really cut it these days. In up tiers you're probably right to stay low, dueling with fox-3s with just 2 7Fs isn't going to cut it. You could experiment with trying to get above the enemy team in down tiers, when your matches are more full of the premium players from the sale. But yeah in up tiers I'm honestly not sure there is a reliable strat right now
I dont have the aj but i do have the f-16a mlu and what i did was go little left or right and then get 2 free kills wjth the radar missiles+ it combo and maby then die or get 1 extra
I have the AJ, and while it’s not as good as it used to be, you can still take advantage of positioning and picking your battles wisely. Stay below contrails, avoid/evade Phoenixs and Fakours, and try to launch your AIM- 7s at high targets from
Every top tier match im in they pick you up on radar if your above 2k altitude and lock and fire on you. Either arh or sarh on the f14 so you cant comfortably sit up there like that for more than the time to lock and launch before u got to hard turn away
This is a great video! But i do have a question, how do i better position myself in a jet with more limited range? I just unlocked the F-16A with its 6 Aim-9L's and havent been able to get much done in the way of kills
@@alloenthusiast7638 ah the F-16a... I didn't like it even before the fox-3 update. There's only so much you can do without any SARH missiles either. Pray for down tiers I guess lol? If you isolate someone for a dogfight that's what you're looking for, but that is far easier said than done. Tip with the 9Ls as well, they have an all aspect seeker but they're very easy to flare from the front, side to rear aspects with view of the afterburner they're surprisingly flare resistant, so yeah try not to fire them all in head ons
Haha, that's because it is very helpless. I guess I might do at some point, but I tend to explicitly avoid high tier planes without fox-3s for this very reason. I'll put it on my list of potential videos, if I'm feeling like punishing myself at some point maybe I'll fly it out. But I can't make any promises, there's every chance I wouldn't even be able to get good enough results to give any advice, given how little time I spend in SARH carriers these days
@@MiGanFox3 Oh ok, good to know it's just Gaijin balancing. I thought I was just being an idiot. Guess I just need to suffer through another couple 100k RP and then I too can stop this masochism.
Same thing as this but learn to crank very well as soon as you know the missile has hit and or is defeated you need to actually run away and reset The only reason why what Migan is doing is working is because notching isn't modeled realistically this is an arcade game if you tried notching irl and you don't put clutter very close behind you relative to the missile, you will die. Learning how to kinematically defend and anticipate when people are shooting at you and when you need to be turned around will skill pave for fox-3's and give you some margin so notching will no longer be your only tool it'll become a last resort
They aren't SARH missiles, these are all ARH (Active Radar Homing). Basically they have a small radar set in the missile that guides itself within ~18km. So you don't have to keep the lock all the way in, the transition from SARH to ARH changes the gameplay a fair bit
Haha don't worry mate everyone starts out like that. The more you play the more you'll start to get a feel for it Remember as well you can also check sensor view in the replays if you ever want to see what is actually tracking you
Why do you think the J-10 is better? I would say they have different advantages over each other F-15C has longer range, better Fox2s, 240 CMs, a very good and with a lot of ammo, and obviously it’s fast, J-10 has a better FM and in lower speeds the SD-10s are better, Again I could be wrong so I ask why? For me the combo of having those 240 CMs feels really good
You're right about different advantages, and some amount of my opinion is based on which of them suits my playstyle better Generally I prefer an airframe and missile which performs best in those sub 20km ranges, long range launches are easy to avoid regardless of it being an amraam. The increased agility of the J-10 & PL-12 suit this alot better. In the J-10 i'm confident I could beat any similarly skilled opponent regardless of what they're flying. In the F-15 I reckon I'd lose to a J-10/M2K With that in mind the J-10 is much more survivable if you get caught out. The F-15 being more cumbersome pulling it round into a notch close range in a pinch is tougher 9M vs PL-5 yeah honestly it depends on my mood which I think is better haha. PL-5 I'd rather have for the dogfight, 9M I'd rather have for those top down attacks Ultimately I don't think either of us are 'wrong'. It's mainly just a case of what suits your playstyle best, like you said, different advantages 👍
I focus my recommendations on top tier (don't really play props or early jets these days), so with that in mind... USA is the safest bet, massive tree though so it'll take some time. I always point people towards China & France at the moment, J-10A & M2K-5F are 2 of the most fun (and best) 13.7s in my opinion. I actually responded to a similar comment a week or so ago so I'll copy my summary of each tree: - USA: Plenty of great options and will have a lot more to come in future updates - Russia: Airframes and fox-3s weaker than most, can be fun but difficult to use at the moment (a lot more to come in future updates as well though) - Germany: Poor at top tier at the moment with limited good options, will get a Eurofighter at some point next year probably - Britain: Again pretty poor at top tier, the JAS39C is good but that's your only good option right now until the Eurofighter arrives - France: Great tree, unique stuff now and in future with missiles and airframes (Mirage 2k is amazing and Rafale will likely come next year) as well as some US imports - China: Good tree at top tier based on the J-10 alone (J-7E is a gem slightly lower down as well), also some Russian imports - Sweden: Again JAS39C is good but limited variety here Haven't levelled Israel, Japan and Italy as they're all mostly imported from other trees at top tier (Israel is a good option though for a small tree if you want US top tier stuff faster)
@@EpicDragonfall That's a good point actually, China getting access to a top tier Mirage makes it the tech tree that has both my favourite top tiers after the update comes

I'm actually planning on an AV-8B+ video soon (hopefully next video). My initial thoughts for you are that in up tiers especially you have to be really careful to try and stick with your team early game. The 120s at 13.0 are amazing, however you really can't be caught out on your own with the lack of speed and flight performance
@MiGanFox3 thank you for the reply! I think the slower speed can work in your advantage since you are not the first to meet the enemy. But I agree that you are fucked if you are getting caught alone! Looking forward to the video! Just subscribed!
@@ghost0frazgriz482 Yeah one thing that's caught me out a lot playing it for the video though, is that occasionally because you end up a bit behind your team you can get cut off. So as the enemy team swings around they can come up on you whilst your team is a good 10km ahead of you. It's definitely frustrating to play sometimes, but that's always to be expected with something a bit off meta, hopefully I can get some good clips for the video 😅. Thanks for the sub mate!
i get smashed most of the games, i bearly manage to get 1-2 kills per game. but i am not giving up. because 1-2 weeks ago. i had a streek of matches with 0 kills. but by getting your ass handed to you you learn to not do some moves and try something else.
Impressive guide, verbally tells us all the cues to get better. Wish not a lot of people watched this so I can get free kills more but it's too awesome not to subscribe.
Love the video. Can anyone tell me the importance of Ace or expert level crews? I have been working to emulate gameplay so I can improve at notching missiles at altitude but my real issue is within 10-15km or not seeing the Fox 3 incoming until 7KM and trying to notch. Those last second maneuvers are getting me G Locked and I am curious as to how I can combat this? Killing my throttle before turning cold or cranking up so I have less speed and less pulled G's? Or is it simply I need to get my crews aced?
Experting your crew I'd say is pretty much required in jets. I've never paid for ace (I let it unlock for free as I play over time), it is a nice bonus but expert is plenty fine (You also want expert early on so you can start grinding your free ace straight away as you play). If you are strapped for SL and can't afford expert but still want to try and play, you'll probably want to position a bit more passively so you get caught in close range jousts, if you are caught yes you'll probably want to cut throttle and airbrake to reduce airspeed and therefore Gs like you mention, remember you can also set up periodic countermeasures then toggle it on before you turn, so your plane automatically drops your chaff if you G lock. Obviously cutting more energy isn't ideal, so getting that expert will improve your experience a lot
@ I appreciate it, I never thought of it’s importance as I was just trying to get everything unlocked as fast as I could but now that I have French Top Tier spaded it makes sense to head that way next. Your videos are amazing btw. Just in the last couple days I went from hugging the ground and going even at best to either not dying at all unless my team just gets swamped or getting 2-5 kills a game. Absolute legend for that.
@@dy325214 Nice one mate 👍 Yeah expert is a must, then just unlock ace naturally so you don't have to spend any money I've been getting a few people saying how much better they're doing now... starting to wonder if I've made a mistake, if everyone in my matches start using my own tricks against me 😅
@ lol na that can’t happen, only half of the community of top tier wants to improve, the other half just wants to complain about Spaamraams and wonder why their 8 Fox 3’s launched from space in their F15 didn’t hit.
From the start of the video until u go to the ground, if i do the same in my games so 5000m 4500m of altitude i just get 6 AIM120 from F15 at 9000m or i just get shot by 3 guys that are playing grippen or J-10 im playing the mirage too, i dont know why but i cant do 5000m in my games i just dont have luck maybe ? I always need to stick to the ground to stay alive
Where abouts are you flying in? left/right/central? I do often have to defend a few missiles early on (very rarely more than a couple). If you're overwhelmed just go cold ideally towards teammates. It's worth remembering as well sometimes this just happens, still happens to me plenty as well. As you're climbing at the start keep an eye on people's contrails and use your TWS to build up awareness of where the enemies are coming in, hopefully then you can adjust so you don't fly in to a hornets nest as it were
@@MiGanFox3 Usually i go left, but i get some missiles and i get killed when im just near a ennemy base, i dont really use tws but i should use it i know im just too lazy to do it with mica's. I love to play central too but its too dangeous i think all the time i've tested it i died
@@kaiooooo4095 ah ok, yeah you need to start using TWS, it's pretty important to top tier, awareness of where the enemies are is so important. How's your notching as well?
@@kaiooooo4095 So if you're going fast you might want to cut burner and hit the airbrake to get round in time. Sometimes if you get caught out too close though it is gg. I made a notching video recently, also done a couple of M2K videos as well, it may help if you want to check it out
Haven't played the MiG-23 much recently (I play 12.7-13.7 mainly). I can offer a bit of advice maybe though. In up tiers gotta be a bit passive given the pretty weak RWR (F-14s and the higher tier phantoms can outclass you). With how MTI works on the radar now as well (you used to be able to switch to MTI manually), I find preferring to stay a bit lower compared to how I play top tier
Yeah so the MTI mode on switches on at lower altitudes, even if you're low down though it'll often switch off from MTI if you start going nose up. Honestly it feels like a pretty rough plane these days
Positioning, timing, sometimes luck. Don't go above contrail height (everyone can see it) and try not to stay directly with your team (but don't fly straight at theirs), that's your best bet to remain mostly undetected as long as possible. If you do get exposed and you get multiple launches from many angles your best bet is to dive down and multipath, it's not perfect but obviously you can't notch when multiple people fire at you outside of a few specific situations
@@ATS_i_piss_on_G00gle Playing non fox-3 planes against fox-3s is generally pretty scuffed. So I usually avoid it, I try to stick to what I find fun and I love 13.7 at the moment, my entire strategy here is tailored to that gameplay
haha, this was before the F-15E patch so it wasn't as bad. Either way just keep closing on them between their launches so they either have to run or commit, if you are good at your notching you can just bleed the long range amraams until you're close enough to contest
When you're in TWS use the bind called 'Select Radar/IRST target to lock' to switch targets. If you want to use this bind (which I recommend and almost everybody does) make sure you have 'Targets cyclic switching of aircraft radar' set to 'Yes' in your air battle settings. I believe that is toggled on by default, but just covering it here in case you turned it off at some point
@@fabianangler haha fair enough, if you need more help on control set up and general guides try Jaek, Seek, Defyn, Tim's variety etc (Between them there's a bunch of radar & RWR guides). I also did a notching video a few weeks ago which I think is quite a useful one
Basically gameplay is about point and click unaware enemies, without any tactic neccesary. You know like in real life - 32 jet fighters confined on 50km area without any goals and strategy racing your trammates to get more kills from people not paying attention enough or not having aced crew $$
I aced my crews by grinding mate. And like I said in the video, if no tactics are necessary then why can some people do better than others consistently? I won't pretend maps and team sizes don't need work, but you can still do consistently well with good positioning
@@MiGanFox3 sorry my point was that we need new game modes, with fewer players, yes positioning is important but current meta is pretty repetitive and not much skill based.
@@adsadsaddFQ Yeah the game could definitely do with some more variety at top tier I agree completely with that. My main takeaway with skill expression is sure it's easier to get kills now, however it's also harder to stay alive. But yeah 1v1 jousting duels are my favourite part of the gameplay, and smaller matches should theoretically promote more of that
Keep an eye on your RWR and defend any launches that come your way, if you think it's still going to hit you despite any notch attempts start changing altitude or going cold Remember most people firing those long range 120s at the start aren't focusing you, they're firing multiple missiles off then defending, so once you defeat the early launches you can reset
Well what I talk about at the start, climbing to just below contrail is kind of it. It's not going to work all the time, but it maximises your chances. If you go above contrail obviously everyone can see you climbing, if you go down low you'll be amongst the majority of players in the match. I start every game trying to get control of this airspace, if you manage that and everyone else is fighting on the deck, they usually are too caught up in the furball (as you notice in the clips in this video) to see you in time It's not really about expecting to be undetected, it's about trying to give yourself the most amount of options in each game. This video I was trying to illustrate the positions you can get if you follow this general strategy
@MiGanFox3 Thx mate. But still, it could be great content. Sometimes i had a situation when one or two enemy players left. Everyone are after landing and reload. We going head on. Im skaning with my radar. Nothing. In one sec. Enemy pop 1-2km above me, 8 km ahead, already lunching rockets. I dont understand that. @@marcinjarecki2277 Yeah of course, I'm trying to get all my thoughts about top tier in my videos. It's hard to say without seeing a clip, but you probably just didn't look around enough with your TWS. Also you can still win at about 8km if you're caught out, if you react fast enough you can get a missile off, then turn hard with your airbrake if you're too fast and you can get into a notch in time
@@Fuzeha yeah definitely, to clarify I don't think it's bad by any stretch. I just think the J-10 & M2K are better, for my playstyle I much prefer the more agile missiles/airframe

Stay below contrails, avoid/evade Phoenixs and Fakours, and try to launch your AIM- 7s at high targets from
Where You're at at the start, is the best position for the F4s with non PD radars
Algorithm showed me another tt player who knows what they are doing.
Nice
super helpful video tysm
Every top tier match im in they pick you up on radar if your above 2k altitude and lock and fire on you. Either arh or sarh on the f14 so you cant comfortably sit up there like that for more than the time to lock and launch before u got to hard turn away
You don't need to go completely cold, notch the launches and turn back in. Contest them and take the altitude for yourself
THanks, Nice Vid, Good work!
Thanks mate 🙂
This is a great video! But i do have a question, how do i better position myself in a jet with more limited range? I just unlocked the F-16A with its 6 Aim-9L's and havent been able to get much done in the way of kills
@@alloenthusiast7638 ah the F-16a... I didn't like it even before the fox-3 update. There's only so much you can do without any SARH missiles either. Pray for down tiers I guess lol? If you isolate someone for a dogfight that's what you're looking for, but that is far easier said than done. Tip with the 9Ls as well, they have an all aspect seeker but they're very easy to flare from the front, side to rear aspects with view of the afterburner they're surprisingly flare resistant, so yeah try not to fire them all in head ons
cool guide ngl thanks
Would be very interested in seeing a video on how to play in SARH planes when uptiered to top tier, such as the F-15A. It feels so helpless.
Yeah since the fox-3 update it really messed up a lot of those SARH planes just below top tier
Same thing as this but learn to crank very well as soon as you know the missile has hit and or is defeated you need to actually run away and reset
The only reason why what Migan is doing is working is because notching isn't modeled realistically this is an arcade game if you tried notching irl and you don't put clutter very close behind you relative to the missile, you will die.
Learning how to kinematically defend and anticipate when people are shooting at you and when you need to be turned around will skill pave for fox-3's and give you some margin so notching will no longer be your only tool it'll become a last resort
DEFYN: Naw, I'd win.
And he generally would according to his stats.
That's what alot of players can work with, including me. YOu got my sub :)
How are your SARH missiles keeping track once the radar lock has gone? If I don’t keep track the missile just goes awol. Great video btw 🤘
They aren't SARH missiles, these are all ARH (Active Radar Homing). Basically they have a small radar set in the missile that guides itself within ~18km. So you don't have to keep the lock all the way in, the transition from SARH to ARH changes the gameplay a fair bit
Ah sorry I misread the initial kill feed as yours (aim7m) 😅

What do you think is the best graphics to run for a good advantage?
That's an interesting one, I don't think it really has much impact in air? I have a good PC so I just have everything more or less maxed
I wanna try this but I'm just so scared and panic at every sound of my rwr
Haha don't worry mate everyone starts out like that. The more you play the more you'll start to get a feel for it
Remember as well you can also check sensor view in the replays if you ever want to see what is actually tracking you
Why do you think the J-10 is better? I would say they have different advantages over each other
F-15C has longer range, better Fox2s, 240 CMs, a very good and with a lot of ammo, and obviously it’s fast,
J-10 has a better FM and in lower speeds the SD-10s are better,
Again I could be wrong so I ask why?
For me the combo of having those 240 CMs feels really good
You're right about different advantages, and some amount of my opinion is based on which of them suits my playstyle better
Generally I prefer an airframe and missile which performs best in those sub 20km ranges, long range launches are easy to avoid regardless of it being an amraam. The increased agility of the J-10 & PL-12 suit this alot better. In the J-10 i'm confident I could beat any similarly skilled opponent regardless of what they're flying. In the F-15 I reckon I'd lose to a J-10/M2K
With that in mind the J-10 is much more survivable if you get caught out. The F-15 being more cumbersome pulling it round into a notch close range in a pinch is tougher
9M vs PL-5 yeah honestly it depends on my mood which I think is better haha. PL-5 I'd rather have for the dogfight, 9M I'd rather have for those top down attacks
Ultimately I don't think either of us are 'wrong'. It's mainly just a case of what suits your playstyle best, like you said, different advantages 👍
@ good points, also enjoyed your video
good content keep it up
i had 0,9kd before this now 1.5-2.0 in all top tier TY!

I just finished grinding USSR air. Which air tree should I grind next?
I focus my recommendations on top tier (don't really play props or early jets these days), so with that in mind...
USA is the safest bet, massive tree though so it'll take some time. I always point people towards China & France at the moment, J-10A & M2K-5F are 2 of the most fun (and best) 13.7s in my opinion. I actually responded to a similar comment a week or so ago so I'll copy my summary of each tree:
- USA: Plenty of great options and will have a lot more to come in future updates
- Russia: Airframes and fox-3s weaker than most, can be fun but difficult to use at the moment (a lot more to come in future updates as well though)
- Germany: Poor at top tier at the moment with limited good options, will get a Eurofighter at some point next year probably
- Britain: Again pretty poor at top tier, the JAS39C is good but that's your only good option right now until the Eurofighter arrives
- France: Great tree, unique stuff now and in future with missiles and airframes (Mirage 2k is amazing and Rafale will likely come next year) as well as some US imports
- China: Good tree at top tier based on the J-10 alone (J-7E is a gem slightly lower down as well), also some Russian imports
- Sweden: Again JAS39C is good but limited variety here
Haven't levelled Israel, Japan and Italy as they're all mostly imported from other trees at top tier (Israel is a good option though for a small tree if you want US top tier stuff faster)
@@MiGanFox3 Same, plus I can't wait for the Taiwanese Mirage coming to the chinese tech tree
@@EpicDragonfall That's a good point actually, China getting access to a top tier Mirage makes it the tech tree that has both my favourite top tiers after the update comes

@MiGanFox3 japan top air isn't much to write about f16 for cas and dog fighting is fun in it and f15 with aim120s aam 3 and 4 also hasn't gotten the same 3 and 4 so not sure about that but the new f15 are just gonna outpace Japan's f15 no doubt about it just depends if it's gonna get a sub tree and what nation if it will be worth it in the long term but ground is fun just limited with what you can do with it
I would go as far to say that positioning is the key on every BR.
Oh yeah absolutely, but at lower tiers the reaction window is a lot bigger. At top tier there's multiple fox-3s flying at you from every angle
we need to stop clowning onto the f15s and su27s they'll go down to 13.0
🤣
Any advice how to be consistent in the AV8-B?
I don't understand how you manage to defend these missles so easily, every time I try notching I just get slammed over and over again :c

@@dy325214 Nice one mate 👍 Yeah expert is a must, then just unlock ace naturally so you don't have to spend any money
I've been getting a few people saying how much better they're doing now... starting to wonder if I've made a mistake, if everyone in my matches start using my own tricks against me 😅
@ lol na that can’t happen, only half of the community of top tier wants to improve, the other half just wants to complain about Spaamraams and wonder why their 8 Fox 3’s launched from space in their F15 didn’t hit.
@@dy325214 lol, yep you're probably right there
From the start of the video until u go to the ground, if i do the same in my games so 5000m 4500m of altitude i just get 6 AIM120 from F15 at 9000m or i just get shot by 3 guys that are playing grippen or J-10 im playing the mirage too, i dont know why but i cant do 5000m in my games i just dont have luck maybe ?

Love the piggies
Howdo you reccomend i position a MiG-23?
Haven't played the MiG-23 much recently (I play 12.7-13.7 mainly). I can offer a bit of advice maybe though. In up tiers gotta be a bit passive given the pretty weak RWR (F-14s and the higher tier phantoms can outclass you). With how MTI works on the radar now as well (you used to be able to switch to MTI manually), I find preferring to stay a bit lower compared to how I play top tier
@@MiGanFox3 ive been plaaying it by climbing left, shooting off both R24T (i cannot seem to work the radar) and then diving, staying passive.
Yeah so the MTI mode on switches on at lower altitudes, even if you're low down though it'll often switch off from MTI if you start going nose up. Honestly it feels like a pretty rough plane these days
currently, MTI only activates when looking down - so i use the 24Ts for stealth attacks on valuable targets before going passive.
@@Mcpecog Yeah the 24Ts are nice for that, if you haven't played the higher tier Russian stuff then you'll love the R-27ET when you get to that
where a the 6 radar guided missle that should be comming for you
Positioning, timing, sometimes luck.
Now do all of this if you use a plane that doesn't have Fox 3 missiles.
@@ATS_i_piss_on_G00gle Playing non fox-3 planes against fox-3s is generally pretty scuffed. So I usually avoid it, I try to stick to what I find fun and I love 13.7 at the moment, my entire strategy here is tailored to that gameplay
Where is this universe where theres only 1-2 oblivious F15s at altitude in top tier? lol
haha, this was before the F-15E patch so it wasn't as bad. Either way just keep closing on them between their launches so they either have to run or commit, if you are good at your notching you can just bleed the long range amraams until you're close enough to contest
At 8:20 how do you switch locked radar target in tws? I can only unlock and lock again to get a new one. Does someone know the key bind?
When you're in TWS use the bind called 'Select Radar/IRST target to lock' to switch targets. If you want to use this bind (which I recommend and almost everybody does) make sure you have 'Targets cyclic switching of aircraft radar' set to 'Yes' in your air battle settings. I believe that is toggled on by default, but just covering it here in case you turned it off at some point
@MiGanFox3 ahhh yes it worked. Haha thank you, this will make radar missiles a lot easier I hope. Makes sense I'm a f15C player I guess 👀
@@fabianangler My apologies for my comments in the video then 🤣
@@MiGanFox3 I consider myself a bad top tier player so you were not wrong 😂
But yeah 1v1 jousting duels are my favourite part of the gameplay, and smaller matches should theoretically promote more of that
If I tried to do this I'd be smacked by an a120 before the 1:00 mark
Keep an eye on your RWR and defend any launches that come your way, if you think it's still going to hit you despite any notch attempts start changing altitude or going cold
Remember most people firing those long range 120s at the start aren't focusing you, they're firing multiple missiles off then defending, so once you defeat the early launches you can reset

Hej MiGan Fox-3. You talk a lot, about staying undetected, unvisible etc. But how to do that? Maybe You can made tutorial about that?
Well what I talk about at the start, climbing to just below contrail is kind of it. It's not going to work all the time, but it maximises your chances. If you go above contrail obviously everyone can see you climbing, if you go down low you'll be amongst the majority of players in the match. I start every game trying to get control of this airspace, if you manage that and everyone else is fighting on the deck, they usually are too caught up in the furball (as you notice in the clips in this video) to see you in time
It's not really about expecting to be undetected, it's about trying to give yourself the most amount of options in each game.
