This came out just at the right time for me :) I unlocked su34 yesterday while playing su27sm which i had a bit of a struggle with after playing gripen and f15, i had really hard time figuring out a good way to play the flanker until i stumbled upon your videos on it and managed to rack even a couple of 4-6 kill games after some trying when i finally got confident with the notching and how it works in the game, when i was playing f15/gripen i had some idea of things and still got some half decent games but hardly learned anything because aim120's are so dominant at longer ranges. I think playing the flanker put me in a lot harder places and forced to ''get gud'' and i can actually enjoy playing air rb for a change. I used to be those who say flanker is worse and r77's are worse than its counters but that was just because i tried playing it like an f15 and i think alot of people who are vocal about it have the same problem, yeah its radar is very annoying and r77 lack range but once you start really abusing the HMD and closing the range while slinging high off bore launches i think its a fairly strong aircraft with the amount and variety of missiles it has for almost any situation. Air sim on red team is really struggling at the moment because NATO team keeps outnumbering the other team every match by 3:1 or even 5:1 and people dont want to fly su27's because its quite hard, all is left is couple of pretty sick flanker pilots sometimes pushing through to a win. Your videos really helped me out and i bet they will many others, seeing the gameplay and getting commentary and explanation for every action i can see on the video really put alot of pieces together what i was missing. I'll make sure to recommend these next time i see someone losing faith in flankers. Thanks.
Glad to hear it mate, yeah the Flankers aren't the best but you can absolutely make them work by abusing the high off bore launches as you say. In a short range 1v1 I'd always prefer being in the Flanker to the F-15

Another high quality video, After playing loads of Mirage 2000, I've felt the Su-27SM feels like a ... bus with rocket engine. So must be the Su-34.. really had to take every maneuver really seriously as making a mistake was very penalizing. Must be fun with the ET spam though
Yeah the 27SM and 34 especially are a lot less forgiving, you really have to abuse the off bore launches and position carefully I actually didn't enjoy the ET spam that much, one of those things that was funny when it worked but it rarely worked. Ultimately I felt like I was handicapping myself without more 77s
thank you for including the stock experience, far too many CCs fly only spaded planes with Ace crews quite severely skewing theyr opinions, comments and frankly attitude against players that dont have that luxury.
Noted, when I fly new stuff that I hadn't previously unlocked like this I'll try to make sure I keep including some clips/comments on the stock grind 👍
Didn't watch the vid yet, but I want to share how I play it - I enable TWS, set the radar to the smallest search window and take 6x 27ETs and 2 77s and 2 73s for closer ranges. Then I just launch ETs through TWS as if they are fox-3s and break radar lock immediately. People think that I launched 77 at them, and they think it didn't manage to lock, and then I get free kills) Although, still, works best on distracted enemies and it is good to be either on the edge of effective range of 27ET at high alt so enemy just wouldn't see your missile or be around 5kms away so enemy doesn't have time to react properly if they aren't focusing on evading your attack
Yeah I did mess around with the 6 ET loadout during the stock grind. Generally I found it too inconsistent, realistically during a normal match I found the more standard loadout I usually run of 6 77s & 2 ETs much more reliable A game where you get to launch a ton of ETs at unsuspecting enemies feels a lot less common, usually I want the 77s so I can contest people in those head on jousts
Hello! I'm a new subscriber to your channel and I think I've finally started to figure out what I'm doing wrong and what gets me killed all the time : Not notching properly. You seem to wiggle your airframe in a very particular way while chaffing to get the notch angle right. And I have a hard time replicating that. Could you do like a quick close range Fox 3 notching tutorial for us who can't really decypher this complex maneuver? You're the first I'v heard on UA-cam to even mention wiggling to fine tune the notch angle.
@@EdouardLAURENT to add to that the wiggling is when you can see the missile is still tracking you, so i'm just shifting slightly until I see the missile go for the chaff
At the end of the day with a jet like this you are playing with a handicap really. I wouldn't recommend it to someone who wants to try top tier Russia, for that there's no real reason not to fly the 27SM instead
Yeah I'd possibly prefer it to the Flanker given it has such a better radar if it had HMD. The lack of air brake is also annoying but it feels pretty slow anyway, so there wasn't many situations where I felt like I actually needed it. But yeah if you gave it a HMD I could see myself playing it a lot more
@@EL_CHPP0 Well all these clips with the SU-34 are in that very meta. My KD in it is around 4:1 and bear in mind it's pretty weak in comparison, so I don't think it makes a huge difference If an F-15 pushes close to me he's dead, if he runs away then he isn't influencing the match. If I do end up adjusting my strats depending on how it evolves I'll absolutely make a video on the topic 👍
For any plane I suggest staying at high altitude and never getting low unless dogfight(which you should avoid anyways), height advantage is too important to ignore, you have more room for maneuvers, less people paying attention to you, you have more potential energy. From my experience Su-34 is ok plane, amazing radar helps to harass Fox3 slingers from 50-55km away with R-27ER launches (with dropping lock and relocking when you feel missile is close enough)
I am planning on messing around with the ERs on the SU-34 at some point given the strong radar it has And claiming the altitude advantage early game is something I frequently recommend to people in my videos. But I also frequently take the decision to get low at some point depending on how each match plays out
I last played it when it was 13.3 and I liked it even then (that was partly because the new F-14A IRAF had just come out at 12.3 though and you got plenty of downtiers) I haven't played it recently but 13.0 is a very nice BR at the moment, as you can get frequent good downtiers into the premium phantom players namely the popular F-4S at 12.0
Matchmaking isn't all that good at 13.0 - still mostly 13.7 lobbies, but even stock with just r27r and r73s it's fairly playable with HMD and loads of good missiles.
