In this video I outline and detail all the modifications that one can perform to increase the performance of the nerf hammershot from the zombie strike line. It includes, barrel to plunger seal improvement, teflon taped O-ring, regreasing, spring compression, dart post removal, and AR removal. Also, I try out a sweet new paintjob and it turns out well. All in all, very pleased with this one.

Silver doesnt harm vampires, and I look exceptional in it. Most of my jewelry is sterling, I forge and store bullion in fine silver and I find it compliments the majority of my black and burgundy wardrobe well.

For the most part, I've recently lost interest in Nerf but I saw new videos from you in my subscription box and watched some of them. Your vids really makes me want to get back into modding

man that mod sledgehammer looks SO much cooler then it did before and you can hear the difference(atleast for me i could) from before and after you mod it
I usually knock out the dart pins so I can use custom ammo that my friend builds that can biodegrade.

Interesting fact. Most single action revolver firearms use a down strut hammer spring into the grip body, just like this nerf.
Just thought I would share. So I found an easy and cheap spring compression trick for my HammerShot. I bought these hard rubber Cone Washers in the plumbing department at my local everything store. They were like $1.89 for four. Two large, and two smaller ones. One of the small ones fit right over the spring post easy peasy. They are about a 1/4 inch thick and it worked perfectly.
or you could just double a jolt spring over the stock spring

Just picked one up today, was wondering how it looked on the inside and possible mods etc for it.
Might remove the inner pegs and use a washer to mod it since i lack tools to do the other mods and a custom paint job. Definitely an impressive blaster. Nerf did a stellar job on this one.

My cousin has the same shirt you're wearing in the video! I was the only other one in our school who understood what it said.
It is never a good idea to leave darts inside blasters for storage. It compresses to foam to the exact size of the barrel over time whereas you want it to be a little snug to build up maximum pressure with minimum resistance. Nerf elite darts do this just fine as long as you store them outside the blaster for long periods and chamber them when ready to use.
You can actually compress the spring a bit more safely, about 2-3 more cards worth :p
Did my first mod today and this was the vid I used to do so.
Dart post removal, teflon taped and replaced the O-ring to a tighter fit, replaced the 6cm spring with a 7cm same compression strength to give the extra compression, regreased with white lithium and threw a bit in the trigger and hammer post, about to do an actual cloth wrap as well since I suck at leatherwork, holding that one with a bit of light epoxy. Didn't remove the AR because I enjoy dry firing it, though I might need to throw in a bit more grease since it's kind of sticking but other than that I'm super happy with it, It's now firing on par with a stock Ameri-spec blaster because the Aus-spec grey triggers suck xD Might get an OMW upgrade spring but I kinda like how it is now since I really only do plinking and not war-ing
In that little silver part on the bottom could be used to store an extra dart if you drilled out the screw pipe
I absolutely love the hammershot because its just a snapfire with less barrels and a compression spring.

Sorry, random person here. But yes, I have two of these, and after just now modding them they work great for dual-wielding and in general. The only problem I had was getting the card trick to work. I ended up ditching the card because it was getting caught on the screw holds, which ended up affecting the gun's power/ range. But, to a summarize, yes, I would DEFINITELY dual-wield.
It is a mixture of raspberry cider and lamb blood...if curious minds must know.

With how the Hammershot can hold the slugs, maybe getting another Hammershot barrel and making it a detachable/pull-out barrel could let you make a shorter model that fits the slugs easier. It would also help for faster reloading in a way.
The new paint job looks realistic
I only removed the rubber stopper in the air restrictor. It prevents the hammer from resetting slowly but I'm sure not sure if removing the air restrictor is necessary.
thanks drac , when I saw you barely open your blaster, I had a detached piece and I saw where it was supposed to be , I thought mine would break.

If you just add power to the spring do HAVE to take out the air restrictor. Will you get the same power as stock or not?
Hey bro I put a 12mm spacer at the top of the spring, and took out the air restricter now it is quite powerful Ide say twice as powerful as it was at least :)

i watched the whole video lord drac. I do agree that the hammershot might be the best nerf gun the year. though i am also a fan of the triad and strongarm.
Is there more than one version of the Hammershot? I got mine a few weeks ago, and I'm modding it today, but there's a Reclaimer-shaped piece behind the air restrictor. Do I have to cut that piece out or can I work around it?

I'm thinking about getting one of these. Will the air restricter/dart pegs be removable with a modeling knife? Or special tools required for it, such as a drill.
How do you cut the card? Whenever I try it either isn't accurate and doesn't work or the scissors won't cut the card...
So i modded mine, but when i shoot sometimes the barrel will not spin when i prime for the next shot, does that happen with yours? I know why it happens, the removal of the air restrictor made the hammer hit harder throwing the barrel out of alignment, but i'm not sure if it's just mine. thx

Thanks. And one more thing. Orange Mod Works has springs on clearance right now. Another mod video suggested 5 kg Vulcan springs for a Triad mod. I was planning on getting 4 of them, but after watching the Ultimate Hammershot video, I couldn't get the card trick to work. So, what would be the largest kg of spring I could buy to put into my Hammershots?
Hey instead of the outer casing and the inside primer and trigger part if you added a PVC tube and attached it somehow you could make a single shot pistol

The hammer shot is the best secondary no Q's asked. Unless you think stryfe is a secondary, like I sometimes do.
love your channel just one thing if you can you should have a stock gun so you can do a side by side comparison if that isn't available maybe you can edit a before and after on the end
Hi, I opened my hammershot up to take a look at the internals, but I can't seem to put the spring that is responsible for rotating the barrel back on. I have put it on, made sure it worked, and reassembled the blaster about 10 times now. The spring keeps falling off after a few shots. I believe I am putting it in right can anyone help?

Well it’s didn’t do much with my hammershot I just replace the spring but I remember I turned the thing that holds the spring to the right then I put the spring in and slowly put it back where it was
Can I just add another spring that fits with the default one like a superjolt mod with 2 springs
fyi. that is not an air restricter. it is the same thing they put in the srong arm to make the blaster more efficiant cause they srong arm has a weaker spring than the maverick. i tested it. i took and maverick spring and put it in the strong arm and got 10 to 20 more feet out of it.
An inquiry for you, my lord. Now that I have taken out the air restrictors and the dart pegs, is it safe to leave ammunition in the gun, since it the packaging previously advised against it?

Considering you like the hammershot so much, Hasbro lanced a rebelle repaint of the hammershot, but it comes with a holster, you could probably get the holster seperate, and it might be good for HVZ, if you decide to use the vampshot

i found layered duct tape works well behind the spring as well. and was a bit easier than trying to fold and cut the magic card.
My o ring or the foam around the seal fell out so I had to replace it with a rubber one and as far as I can see It's just fine, but I had to put silicon on the ring
Also, it sucks when you take the trigger spring off and can't get it on again.. Haha. Any tips?

if anyone wants an alternative to the playing card, i used a zip tie. just adjust it so the head doesn't get in the way and the blaster can close normally. took me a few tries but i got it
see how the pin the spring is orange. Well, in the Ausralian model (weaker, If you didn't know, due to harsher safety regulations) that pin is pearl silver... and so is the trigger... How strange
i LOVE the internals on this thing, i think i wanna try making a single shot Dillinger type blaster from them as a side arm. Maybe just add a coupler on the end of the plunger tube and stick a removable barrel on the end. Might not increase range but accuracy should improve. Regardless, nerf should make a small (reflex) version of this blaster.

Somehow, when I did Teflon tape to my plunger, the firing ranges decreased by a LOT. How long should the Teflon tape strip be?
