@@CorujaB Plunger tube. The end of the plunger tube has the Air Restrictor, so when you remove it, and do away with the dead space, you get better performance
Dude, you're doing it all wrong. You gotta use a longshot plunger tube in it, then have a set of afterburners at the end. That's how you get them 90+ fps
Hammershot will always be my favorite office plinker. From what I can remember, you can get a few extra FPS out of it by using the stock hammer, but it sure isn't going to hit 100. The metal hammers feel nice, but you have to realize that you're essentially adding training weights that the spring has to lift now.

If you're getting the same or similar results with a higher powered spring, it's definitely an issue with the seal somewhere in the process. Using a thrifted, previously opened hammershot was probably not a great start to whatever possibly could've been wrong before you ever touched it.
Walcom dude I found out how to make it 130 FPS. so you have to make the plunger go further back in the tube for more plunger volume. You do this by cutting a few millimeters off the plunger rod and screw it back together With a strip of polycarbonate. Then you need to cut off a piece of the main mechanism that hits the rubber when you fire it. This allows the plunger rod to go all the way in since you shortened the rod. So now it goes all the way back when you prime it. Next the the front the plunger put apoxie putty in the dead space and brass through the hole. Next improve the seal by getting some rubber sheet and making a ring the right size. Then just brass the cylinder and bam you got I GUARANTEE YOU WILL GET AT LEAST 120 FPS. if you upgrade to 20 kg for make Spring at Home Depot (I’ll tell you if you reply) you get 150s! Please try this! This is not my idea though it is from radioactive52.
I know I am probably watching this years after the creation of the video and all the hard times you went through on this Walcom! But I appreciate the info and testing done on this. It really opened my eyes to a few things to take in when thinking about what I am looking for in a Foam Flinger! And you hit so many valid points on the Hammer Shot that I wanted to throw my perspective in as well. Because I think the contrast between what we both want for this weapon speaks to the tone of "What do you require of your Foam Flinging Side Kick?" You are here moding everything you can to obtain just a consistent 90 FPS for a "Weapon of War" / to be competitive blaster. And I was sitting here seeing that I too became really dishearten at the Hammer Shot as well. I like the "idea" of the Hammer Shot, but performance wise I witnessed first hand that there is so much not going for this blaster. I too felt the frustration you so honestly showed in your vid. And I hate that through all that money, moding, and pain in the rear work. That nothing finalized the way you wished for the Hammer Shot. Competitive Wise, I agree with you 110% that there are better options and this was not any where close to an option. Maybe not even an option to me and my family. So with that I paused the last few seconds of your vid and took a walk through the single wide / long trailer that I am currently raising my two sons in. Now to paint the setting a little here. I am a single parent going through a nasty custody and long time divorce that started back when I was still on Active Duty in the Army (2009). It's 4 AM mind you, and I am just checking over the place. Making sure my sons are sleeping soundly, making sure my brother and room mate is sleeping soundly. Checking to make sure we are locked up for the evening / morning. And just checking to make sure all is well, that kind of thing. While making my rounds I stood in the dark for a few minutes milling things over in my head. The Kitchen and living room areas are connected and offer about 22 feet of space length wise. And I am sitting here going over this video in my thoughts and feeling the disappointment of this blaster a bit. I had showed my recent purchase of one to my boys and they loved the idea of how it functioned and worked. And the excitement and happiness they both had just shooting from one end of area to the next was memorable from earlier in the day. Now I am worrying about how I will break this news to the boys and continue looking for something a bit more "competitive" to use for our set up. And as I stood there in the dark, it hit me. A realization as you will. It made sense all of a sudden why I liked this blaster and why my sons like the blaster at that moment. I had been seeing this video from the wrong angle all along and it finally clicked in me once I said it outload "Competitive!" That was what held me up. Usually when I get something, I want to mod and maximize a purchase of course. It's the Engineering side of me that kicks in and makes the purchase and journey so much sweeter. Like you, I wanted to see this blaster meet a standard and perform to that standard. But then I realized where the difference in need was finally, and why I had my own love for this blaster. I have a 22 foot area to "SLING FOAM!" in VS a warzone / arena area that you are working in. I am working with about 15 to 19 feet at best of distance VS what you would need for outdoor / gym arena play. Our needs are completely opposite of one another with what we want out of this Blaster. Stock and out of the box was all I needed for my space for it to function well if not over preform. VS the under performance that I would achieve if I was outside with more then 20 feet away from a target or player. I had been looking at this from a competitive view point and not from a "my own simple needs" view point. The needs of my own arena and space VS going to "SLING FOAM" in a War or Competition setting. A family casual setting VS MAXIUM OPTIMIZATION. And that made me realize my own love for the blaster. In my casual family setting, it's a perfect piece at a stock out come. The distance I have to work with is even a bit dangerous for my modded (just spring upgrade) version and that is ok! This is that fantasy / family casual blaster for "SLINGING FOAM" in the living room, shooting imaginary zombies and enemies to 6 year old kids! It is the right power and strength for the space I have to work with at it's Stock State and that is alright! But I do agree with you 110% when it tries to step beyond what it was made for. Cool idea in what it wants to be, but not enough of an idea to convince me that there isn't better options out there when the adults want to play more compatibly for sure! Thank you for making this video Walcom, I learned much about the Hammer Shot. I learn much from all your vids and am happy to be here! And most of all, thank you for showing me what Nerf means for me an my family. This experience was all thanks to you, and I am happy to be a fan and sub! @@geekmonkey895 or Brett (who sometimes wears a beret). He survived to the very end of EndWar with nothing but a Maverick. He once took me out with a Nitro Car launcher when I was using TYR. Anything can be "war worthy" if used properly. But the hammershot will never be a long range primary or even a long range secondary. Just not gonna happen without modding to the the point that it is not longer a Hammershot.
@@geekmonkey895 Certainly not long range primaries. I know people who prefer a run and gun style who use them as primaries and I have used them with a shield as a primary. It all comes down to play style. For someone to say they are not "war worthy" when they mean "not effective for my play style" is a bit disingenuous.
To play partial defense of it... I love the Hammershot, but not as a primary. I love it as a side arm for getting run up on or for backup. Also if no one else grabbed it. I'll gladly take it off your hands :)
Why dual wield, the brain is capable on focusing one thing at the time but if you try to fire at two targets at the simultaneously your darts will hit in only one person and the other will tag you. Dual wield can be really fun but it won't be useful in a real battle scenario
I bought a Hammershot on eBay for $15 and it's hitting 75-85fps. I haven't opened it yet so idk what the last guy did to it but it still has the 5 round cylinder.

I’ll be honest Walcom, the Hammershots full potential is between 70-90fps no matter what peps do. While yes I do have FOUR modded Hammershots and a custom rig to it, it’s only used for hvz against zombies and doing a cowboy loadout is fun in its way (never played competitive in HVZ bad Oman in my belief). I still swear by my disruptor and strongarm as my PvP sidearm, as well my firestrike and cycloneshock.
I laughed when I saw this thumbnail because I knew what the end result would be! I really like the Hammershot for it’s handiness, looks, and single action operation, but it’s got design limitations that can’t be overcome. You drop barrel conversion tubes in a Cycloneshock and it will hit 95-100fps easy with elite darts and stock springs. The Hammershot can’t even approach that capability no matter how much money you put in it.

The Hammershot isn’t a primary; you’re not gonna take it into a fight at long ranges expecting to win. It’s a blaster you whip out when something goes wrong. If you’re not in Hammershot range, you can probably just run away.
TBF, if you really care about one handing so much, you can technically one hand any flywheel blaster if you want. You can go in with double Savage spins and just Shrek everyone. They shoot 100 stock and have a fast fire rate since they semi auto. But yeah, hammer shot is overrated to the max.
hardly an apt comparison. That's like saying a stryfe is overrated because the Perses exists and you could glue 2 of them together and dual wield those... Like saying a Geo Metro is overrated because F550 super duty exists... Doesn't make any sense. You don't have to like the hammershot, but it isn't "overrated." It does something comparable pistol blasters *in it's class* can't... Nobody ever "rated" a hammershot highly for it's power. It's popular because it is different and because it is a single hand manual prime spring pistol. It is really not difficult to get a hammershot past 100 fps though honestly...
I have a Hammershot that I love to use but I know it's not a blaster that's for everyone. I honestly prefer my Hurricane but will still use the Hammershot along with it.
all ive gotta say is ive never felt for boss than when i was running around at a nerf war with my friends dual wielding the Hammershot. i struggled a little but i could one hand prime it when i was 13-14. now that im 17 i dont have much if any trouble one handing the hammershot. i get not everybody can do it, but for me thats definitely an experience i couldn't get with 2 strongarms.
Something that I noticed when I was modifying a hammer shot and a sweet revenge is that the plunger actually rocks back and forth inside and the reason why that is so that the cylinder can index and I realize that it's necessary for the function of the blaster because I glued it all the way forward and sealed the whole thing so there was zero air coming out and then it wouldn't index it shot like a mother flower but it wouldn't index to the next shot so in order for the primary function of the blaster it needs to be able to rock back and forth which is really upsetting because you lose a little bit of that psi from upgraded springs and sealing the plunger and greasing and all that other stuff it's a flawed blaster I love both the hammer shot and the sweet revenge for form factor but performance not so much

It mods pretty good, you just aren't gunna get what you want out of a kit you gotta go kinda old school on it, my main hammer shot has the stock spring right now but a massive spacer so I'm hitting about 95 with worker gen1s and I reamed the cylinder out and cut the shell so I can rear load it.
Time for a community built hammerprime revolver with a big ass plunger tube and some longboi brass barrels. And while we're at it might as well make it break open to switch cylinders. But that's a lot of parts to engineer so it'll take a while, maybe we're lucky and somebody's already working on it
No one is likely going to read this anyway, but screw it. You shouldn't be getting death threats over this! Walcom I love the hammershot , but I appreciate you giving your opinion which is well informed and justified. I like it because it's a springer that I can one-hand prime and use when caught off guard while reloading. There's so many better blasters I should be using for that, but don't care for them. I think people get aggressive because they're defensive about their preferences and what they can afford. I'd like to actually know what the real criticisms are because as I (poorly) recall from your other videos you gave decent reasons. It doesn't fit many roles well. There's better secondaries, there's better one handed blasters, there's better there's better performing blasters. The hammershot is good for what it is. A one handed springer that can be cheaply and easily thrifted and modified. The hammershot wouldn't be a good option if liked flywheels, and my tech skills didn't matter. I would get a stryfe, and I'd make a Nerf Uzi. For those of you who doubt that I'm a hammershot fan: I have a Sweet Revenge with an 8 round cylinder and about $50 of mods. I have a cheap hammershot with several magnetic replaceable 5 round cylinders and compressed spring. I've put the money and work into the hammershot because I like it, but it isn't worth a man's life. P.S. You've also inspired me to experiment. Perhaps barrel length is the limiting factor? (since power clearly isn't.) Perhaps a Mare's Leg like blaster would be a better fit for me?
I had exactly the same problem with the hammershot. The key to the hammershot is getting the seal between the plunger tube and the drum to almost a hundred per cent.
Old video, I know, but; I'm currently trying to mod up a hammershot and I found out for myself that there are a lot of different places you can lose air pressure. Especially the spot between the cylinder and plunger tube if the cylinder is able to move too far forward; also around the small orange reducer piece that links the plunger tube to the cylinder seal. I've gone down the brass cylinder rabbit-hole and found that, with the after-market cylinder I got, I had to epoxy the indexing gear in to the body of the cylinder or it would indeed slide forward too far - it also had the benefit of making the rotation almost perfectly consistent. This might benefit yours as well, if you're willing to revisit this at all, all this time later. A small washer in front of the cylinder to limit its forward travel might also accomplish that. Those both have the consequence of not being able to spin the cylinder very easily without pulling the hammer back slightly first, but I can deal with that inconvenience. Then again I lack access to a chronograph, so maybe I'm completely wrong. I think I prefer the blasterparts hammer to the OMW hammer, personally. I hate the heavy texture and prefer the smooth finish that doesn't hurt my thumb. But at you pointed out, it's definitely not suitable for being able to keep the blaster pointed at your target and still try and pull the hammer back with one hand. The hammershot really isn't at all straightforward to get more performance out of. I sort of enjoy the challenge but I get how you and others would get fed up with it.
If you read some of the comments then you will get quite few accurate pointers on why you weren't getting more fps out of it. Here are just few of them: 1. Stronger spring with metal hammer and trigger is needed because of added mass. You won't get more fps from that. 2. Taking out Air Restrictor 3. Making sure you got proper seal 4. Darts are sitting way to tight in that new cylinder And sorry but your hands ARE too small and stuby to prime Hammershot one handed without tipping it, whether you like it or not. I don't have that problem with priming my Hammershots with BlasterParts kit installed. And if you want to make it super steady, do a two handed revolver grip, where you hold it with right hand but use the thumb of a left hand to prime it. PS. "It's average. I've always loved the hammershot even though the strongarm is superior in many ways. Just dont like strongarm for some reason. However since the Hurricane has come out I rarely use the hammershot in a war.
Cory Zepp : I have a number of both blasters, and I can state confidently that the Strongarm is flimsier and much more fussy about used darts. BTW, I looked up the Worker Hurricane. It’s got a lot going for it. But do you have spare rotary mags for quick reloading? Or maybe a stick-mag adaptor?
Exactly! The strongarm is a good blaster, but the flaws such as the two handed prime and the fact that the slam fire happens to jam up a lot (at least, with my brother's strongarm) doesn't really resonate well with me. It took me a while to realize that walrus boi here wants POWER, and a good rate of fire, two things that the hammershot doesn't really have, even when modded. It doesn't fit walcom's play style and desires, and so he rejects the hammershot. However, the hammershot is perfect for me because it's a one handed secondary pistol I can spin like ocelot, and is good for CQB style nerf wars. I'm not playing in a massive field where range and a high rate if fire matters, I'm playing in my house, where there's narrow hallways, and now a lot of area of play.
I have a sonic red strongarm, and its dart fit is crap. I had the updated version that i forget the name of, and its dart fit was better. My hammershot shoots harder than my strongarm, and I’ve had the hammershot longer, and i prefer it. Just my opinion. Plus, i have reasonably long fingers.
I think the Hammershot is okay, but I'd rather use a Rough Cut as a secondary over something like the Hammershot, and a Modulus stock blaster (Double Strike reskin with better ergonomics) as a last-ditch scavenger. The hammer action is particularly nice when you're scavenging, and the rate of fire you can get with it is about equal to your reloading speed so you can be gathering/holding/feeding darts in your off hand while you prime with your dominant hand. It's a little trickier to do that with the Hammershot because of the revolving cylinder; still fairly easy, but seconds count when they get to that stage, so the more compact and simple stock blaster takes the lead for me.
While I like the Hammershot, the blaster to me was always more attuned for either cosplayers or just to use as a fool around blaster. (This is just for the Hammershot. The Rebelle hammer primes feel way better in hand and Doublestrike is Love) I do reside in the camp of a strong arm or disruptor being better due to slam fire.
I own this kit, the best performance I can get out of it is to ramrod half lengths down the barrel the way you were doing it. After that I just treat it like a secondary, a blaster I switch to if I'm caught mid-reload. I've thought about a Viper or a Pigeon before, but I don't think it's worth the effort of printing, assembling, and charging another lipo every time I want to go play for a blaster I almost never use

My hammershot is broken and basically it only shoots with the little lever thing on the back and the trigger is pure useless, but i think its 2x more powerful because you can still pull the trigger but when it gets stuck the power is incredible. I call it “Super Punch” Because since you cant pull the trigger that means its already loaded, and since my gun is broken and only shoots when you let go of the level on the back, it shoots 2x the normal fps. I think
The Hammershot is better as a back-up instead of a secondary as it will mostly be useful when your back is against the wall and you got no ammo in your primary/secondary or you're reloading your primary/secondary.
I use the blaster parts kit, metal hammer and trigger, but a worker 10kg spring. I also removed the air restrictor posts in the stock 5 chamber cylinder, lubed it all up, but left a little bit of the air restrictors (unintentional it's just with what tool I had). And it reads 90fps. I had to have my local airsoft place Chrono it because I don't have a chronograph. I haven't had much luck with 3D printed cylinders either. I bought a modded Rayven I may have to redo the internals because the rev switch is weak after one 4 hour nerf event. But back to the hammershot, it seems to have mixed range, but that might just be my cheap darts. Idk. It does blow the tips off my darts now. Which means after I run out of darts, imma have to get better full-length darts. I wish I could just get a short dart cylinder, not inlined or anything fancy, just able to easily hold short darts. Maybe I'll just cut a stock cylinder? The only thing I haven't done is tried to brass it. But I don't have the tools for that.
Whenever me and my brother has a nerf war he always pick the hammer shot to hurt me and I pick a Phoenix not you hit him that hard but gains a butch of velocity.
Good thing i only purchased a 10kg spring for this blaster. Debating if its worth my time 3d printing the parts for it now (btw i can garantee a better 3d printed parts than anything you can order from etsy). So what were the other options i heard you talking about for secondaries? currently i am going caliburn + stryfe (bearly touched stryfe added rewire and 2s power), the hammershot was for a small blaster to hold and to be sneaky with but at 70fps i would rather just use a peice of PVC pipe as a blow dart lol.
The reason I like the hammershot and will pack at least one for HVZ is my first ever HVZ was a pretty low-key event at a park. I was being run down by a zed my primary was empty. As I backed into a pile of branches I could not see (because I was backing up) I drew my two hammershots and tagged the zed, I was using suction darts, and one of the dart stuck to the zed’s glasses. It was pretty epic. Of course an $50+ blaster would be better, but using a thrifted hammershot as a last-ditch shot or for point-blank, will be my go-to. Since that first game I have tried to run 4Victory and there was something about it that kept ending up keeping me from being able to prime it all the way a pinch so the darts just sort of farted out of the partially primed blaster. I have had mixed luck with doublestrike blasters and it bugs me that full-length darts get mushed when I holster it. Of course I love Sweet Revenge blasters but so does everyone else, so I end up feeling it is more worth it to sell them off when I thrift them.

stock cylinder, stock internals, just with beefy spring upgrade getting 85+fps, tried the AF darts got 75fps...the 85fps was with x shot grey , blue tip darts.
I have my index finger go across the side, using my middle for the trigger. Didn't like how much strain it put on my thumb joints doing an all day war with my friends, as I dual wield hammershots with a double strike as a fall back. Still hold it weirdly to prime though.
He even said he doesn't have terribly small hands and no the hammershot is just a uncomfortable blaster to prime while keeping the "barrel" on target but you clearly didn't watch the video so that doesn't matter.

I like the "idea" of the Hammer Shot, but performance wise I witnessed first hand that there is so much not going for this blaster. I too felt the frustration you so honestly showed in your vid. And I hate that through all that money, moding, and pain in the rear work. That nothing finalized the way you wished for the Hammer Shot. Competitive Wise, I agree with you 110% that there are better options and this was not any where close to an option. Maybe not even an option to me and my family. So with that I paused the last few seconds of your vid and took a walk through the single wide / long trailer that I am currently raising my two sons in.
Now to paint the setting a little here. I am a single parent going through a nasty custody and long time divorce that started back when I was still on Active Duty in the Army (2009). It's 4 AM mind you, and I am just checking over the place. Making sure my sons are sleeping soundly, making sure my brother and room mate is sleeping soundly. Checking to make sure we are locked up for the evening / morning. And just checking to make sure all is well, that kind of thing. While making my rounds I stood in the dark for a few minutes milling things over in my head. The Kitchen and living room areas are connected and offer about 22 feet of space length wise. And I am sitting here going over this video in my thoughts and feeling the disappointment of this blaster a bit. I had showed my recent purchase of one to my boys and they loved the idea of how it functioned and worked. And the excitement and happiness they both had just shooting from one end of area to the next was memorable from earlier in the day. Now I am worrying about how I will break this news to the boys and continue looking for something a bit more "competitive" to use for our set up. And as I stood there in the dark, it hit me. A realization as you will.
It made sense all of a sudden why I liked this blaster and why my sons like the blaster at that moment. I had been seeing this video from the wrong angle all along and it finally clicked in me once I said it outload "Competitive!" That was what held me up. Usually when I get something, I want to mod and maximize a purchase of course. It's the Engineering side of me that kicks in and makes the purchase and journey so much sweeter. Like you, I wanted to see this blaster meet a standard and perform to that standard. But then I realized where the difference in need was finally, and why I had my own love for this blaster. I have a 22 foot area to "SLING FOAM!" in VS a warzone / arena area that you are working in. I am working with about 15 to 19 feet at best of distance VS what you would need for outdoor / gym arena play. Our needs are completely opposite of one another with what we want out of this Blaster. Stock and out of the box was all I needed for my space for it to function well if not over preform. VS the under performance that I would achieve if I was outside with more then 20 feet away from a target or player. I had been looking at this from a competitive view point and not from a "my own simple needs" view point. The needs of my own arena and space VS going to "SLING FOAM" in a War or Competition setting. A family casual setting VS MAXIUM OPTIMIZATION. And that made me realize my own love for the blaster.
In my casual family setting, it's a perfect piece at a stock out come. The distance I have to work with is even a bit dangerous for my modded (just spring upgrade) version and that is ok! This is that fantasy / family casual blaster for "SLINGING FOAM" in the living room, shooting imaginary zombies and enemies to 6 year old kids! It is the right power and strength for the space I have to work with at it's Stock State and that is alright! But I do agree with you 110% when it tries to step beyond what it was made for. Cool idea in what it wants to be, but not enough of an idea to convince me that there isn't better options out there when the adults want to play more compatibly for sure!

Anything can be "war worthy" if used properly. But the hammershot will never be a long range primary or even a long range secondary. Just not gonna happen without modding to the the point that it is not longer a Hammershot.

It all comes down to play style. For someone to say they are not "war worthy" when they mean "not effective for my play style" is a bit disingenuous.

Why dual wield, the brain is capable on focusing one thing at the time but if you try to fire at two targets at the simultaneously your darts will hit in only one person and the other will tag you.
Dual wield can be really fun but it won't be useful in a real battle scenario

I bought a Hammershot on eBay for $15 and it's hitting 75-85fps. I haven't opened it yet so idk what the last guy did to it but it still has the 5 round cylinder.

I’ll be honest Walcom, the Hammershots full potential is between 70-90fps no matter what peps do. While yes I do have FOUR modded Hammershots and a custom rig to it, it’s only used for hvz against zombies and doing a cowboy loadout is fun in its way (never played competitive in HVZ bad Oman in my belief). I still swear by my disruptor and strongarm as my PvP sidearm, as well my firestrike and cycloneshock.
I laughed when I saw this thumbnail because I knew what the end result would be! I really like the Hammershot for it’s handiness, looks, and single action operation, but it’s got design limitations that can’t be overcome. You drop barrel conversion tubes in a Cycloneshock and it will hit 95-100fps easy with elite darts and stock springs. The Hammershot can’t even approach that capability no matter how much money you put in it.

The Hammershot isn’t a primary; you’re not gonna take it into a fight at long ranges expecting to win. It’s a blaster you whip out when something goes wrong. If you’re not in Hammershot range, you can probably just run away.
And yet a Worker Hurricane is a six shot revolver that hits 190 FPS and hits harder than most people's primaries. It's also half the size.
TBF, if you really care about one handing so much, you can technically one hand any flywheel blaster if you want. You can go in with double Savage spins and just Shrek everyone. They shoot 100 stock and have a fast fire rate since they semi auto. But yeah, hammer shot is overrated to the max.

Like saying a Geo Metro is overrated because F550 super duty exists... Doesn't make any sense. You don't have to like the hammershot, but it isn't "overrated." It does something comparable pistol blasters *in it's class* can't... Nobody ever "rated" a hammershot highly for it's power. It's popular because it is different and because it is a single hand manual prime spring pistol. It is really not difficult to get a hammershot past 100 fps though honestly...
I have a Hammershot that I love to use but I know it's not a blaster that's for everyone. I honestly prefer my Hurricane but will still use the Hammershot along with it.
all ive gotta say is ive never felt for boss than when i was running around at a nerf war with my friends dual wielding the Hammershot. i struggled a little but i could one hand prime it when i was 13-14. now that im 17 i dont have much if any trouble one handing the hammershot. i get not everybody can do it, but for me thats definitely an experience i couldn't get with 2 strongarms.

Something that I noticed when I was modifying a hammer shot and a sweet revenge is that the plunger actually rocks back and forth inside and the reason why that is so that the cylinder can index and I realize that it's necessary for the function of the blaster because I glued it all the way forward and sealed the whole thing so there was zero air coming out and then it wouldn't index it shot like a mother flower but it wouldn't index to the next shot so in order for the primary function of the blaster it needs to be able to rock back and forth which is really upsetting because you lose a little bit of that psi from upgraded springs and sealing the plunger and greasing and all that other stuff it's a flawed blaster I love both the hammer shot and the sweet revenge for form factor but performance not so much

The hammer shot is a good blaster, but when it comes to modding not much can be done with it. That is why you have you make or get your own revolver.
It mods pretty good, you just aren't gunna get what you want out of a kit you gotta go kinda old school on it, my main hammer shot has the stock spring right now but a massive spacer so I'm hitting about 95 with worker gen1s and I reamed the cylinder out and cut the shell so I can rear load it.

Walcom I love the hammershot , but I appreciate you giving your opinion which is well informed and justified.
I like it because it's a springer that I can one-hand prime and use when caught off guard while reloading. There's so many better blasters I should be using for that, but don't care for them.
I think people get aggressive because they're defensive about their preferences and what they can afford. I'd like to actually know what the real criticisms are because as I (poorly) recall from your other videos you gave decent reasons. It doesn't fit many roles well. There's better secondaries, there's better one handed blasters, there's better there's better performing blasters.
The hammershot is good for what it is. A one handed springer that can be cheaply and easily thrifted and modified. The hammershot wouldn't be a good option if liked flywheels, and my tech skills didn't matter. I would get a stryfe, and I'd make a Nerf Uzi.
For those of you who doubt that I'm a hammershot fan:
I have a Sweet Revenge with an 8 round cylinder and about $50 of mods.
I have a cheap hammershot with several magnetic replaceable 5 round cylinders and compressed spring. I've put the money and work into the hammershot because I like it, but it isn't worth a man's life.

I had exactly the same problem with the hammershot. The key to the hammershot is getting the seal between the plunger tube and the drum to almost a hundred per cent.
Old video, I know, but; I'm currently trying to mod up a hammershot and I found out for myself that there are a lot of different places you can lose air pressure. Especially the spot between the cylinder and plunger tube if the cylinder is able to move too far forward; also around the small orange reducer piece that links the plunger tube to the cylinder seal. I've gone down the brass cylinder rabbit-hole and found that, with the after-market cylinder I got, I had to epoxy the indexing gear in to the body of the cylinder or it would indeed slide forward too far - it also had the benefit of making the rotation almost perfectly consistent. This might benefit yours as well, if you're willing to revisit this at all, all this time later. A small washer in front of the cylinder to limit its forward travel might also accomplish that. Those both have the consequence of not being able to spin the cylinder very easily without pulling the hammer back slightly first, but I can deal with that inconvenience. Then again I lack access to a chronograph, so maybe I'm completely wrong.
I think I prefer the blasterparts hammer to the OMW hammer, personally. I hate the heavy texture and prefer the smooth finish that doesn't hurt my thumb. But at you pointed out, it's definitely not suitable for being able to keep the blaster pointed at your target and still try and pull the hammer back with one hand.
The hammershot really isn't at all straightforward to get more performance out of. I sort of enjoy the challenge but I get how you and others would get fed up with it.
If you read some of the comments then you will get quite few accurate pointers on why you weren't getting more fps out of it.
Here are just few of them:
1. Stronger spring with metal hammer and trigger is needed because of added mass. You won't get more fps from that.
2. Taking out Air Restrictor
3. Making sure you got proper seal
4. Darts are sitting way to tight in that new cylinder
And sorry but your hands ARE too small and stuby to prime Hammershot one handed without tipping it, whether you like it or not.
I don't have that problem with priming my Hammershots with BlasterParts kit installed.
And if you want to make it super steady, do a two handed revolver grip, where you hold it with right hand but use the thumb of a left hand to prime it.

I've always loved the hammershot even though the strongarm is superior in many ways. Just dont like strongarm for some reason. However since the Hurricane has come out I rarely use the hammershot in a war.
Cory Zepp : I have a number of both blasters, and I can state confidently that the Strongarm is flimsier and much more fussy about used darts.
BTW, I looked up the Worker Hurricane. It’s got a lot going for it. But do you have spare rotary mags for quick reloading? Or maybe a stick-mag adaptor?
Exactly! The strongarm is a good blaster, but the flaws such as the two handed prime and the fact that the slam fire happens to jam up a lot (at least, with my brother's strongarm) doesn't really resonate well with me.
It took me a while to realize that walrus boi here wants POWER, and a good rate of fire, two things that the hammershot doesn't really have, even when modded. It doesn't fit walcom's play style and desires, and so he rejects the hammershot.
However, the hammershot is perfect for me because it's a one handed secondary pistol I can spin like ocelot, and is good for CQB style nerf wars. I'm not playing in a massive field where range and a high rate if fire matters, I'm playing in my house, where there's narrow hallways, and now a lot of area of play.
I have a sonic red strongarm, and its dart fit is crap. I had the updated version that i forget the name of, and its dart fit was better. My hammershot shoots harder than my strongarm, and I’ve had the hammershot longer, and i prefer it. Just my opinion.
Plus, i have reasonably long fingers.

I think the Hammershot is okay, but I'd rather use a Rough Cut as a secondary over something like the Hammershot, and a Modulus stock blaster (Double Strike reskin with better ergonomics) as a last-ditch scavenger. The hammer action is particularly nice when you're scavenging, and the rate of fire you can get with it is about equal to your reloading speed so you can be gathering/holding/feeding darts in your off hand while you prime with your dominant hand. It's a little trickier to do that with the Hammershot because of the revolving cylinder; still fairly easy, but seconds count when they get to that stage, so the more compact and simple stock blaster takes the lead for me.

While I like the Hammershot, the blaster to me was always more attuned for either cosplayers or just to use as a fool around blaster.

I own this kit, the best performance I can get out of it is to ramrod half lengths down the barrel the way you were doing it.
After that I just treat it like a secondary, a blaster I switch to if I'm caught mid-reload.
I've thought about a Viper or a Pigeon before, but I don't think it's worth the effort of printing, assembling, and charging another lipo every time I want to go play for a blaster I almost never use

My hammershot is broken and basically it only shoots with the little lever thing on the back and the trigger is pure useless, but i think its 2x more powerful because you can still pull the trigger but when it gets stuck the power is incredible. I call it “Super Punch” Because since you cant pull the trigger that means its already loaded, and since my gun is broken and only shoots when you let go of the level on the back, it shoots 2x the normal fps.

The Hammershot is better as a back-up instead of a secondary as it will mostly be useful when your back is against the wall and you got no ammo in your primary/secondary or you're reloading your primary/secondary.
I use the blaster parts kit, metal hammer and trigger, but a worker 10kg spring. I also removed the air restrictor posts in the stock 5 chamber cylinder, lubed it all up, but left a little bit of the air restrictors (unintentional it's just with what tool I had). And it reads 90fps. I had to have my local airsoft place Chrono it because I don't have a chronograph.
I haven't had much luck with 3D printed cylinders either. I bought a modded Rayven I may have to redo the internals because the rev switch is weak after one 4 hour nerf event.
But back to the hammershot, it seems to have mixed range, but that might just be my cheap darts. Idk. It does blow the tips off my darts now. Which means after I run out of darts, imma have to get better full-length darts. I wish I could just get a short dart cylinder, not inlined or anything fancy, just able to easily hold short darts. Maybe I'll just cut a stock cylinder? The only thing I haven't done is tried to brass it. But I don't have the tools for that.

Good thing i only purchased a 10kg spring for this blaster. Debating if its worth my time 3d printing the parts for it now (btw i can garantee a better 3d printed parts than anything you can order from etsy).
So what were the other options i heard you talking about for secondaries? currently i am going caliburn + stryfe (bearly touched stryfe added rewire and 2s power), the hammershot was for a small blaster to hold and to be sneaky with but at 70fps i would rather just use a peice of PVC pipe as a blow dart lol.
The reason I like the hammershot and will pack at least one for HVZ is my first ever HVZ was a pretty low-key event at a park. I was being run down by a zed my primary was empty. As I backed into a pile of branches I could not see (because I was backing up) I drew my two hammershots and tagged the zed, I was using suction darts, and one of the dart stuck to the zed’s glasses. It was pretty epic. Of course an $50+ blaster would be better, but using a thrifted hammershot as a last-ditch shot or for point-blank, will be my go-to.
Since that first game I have tried to run 4Victory and there was something about it that kept ending up keeping me from being able to prime it all the way a pinch so the darts just sort of farted out of the partially primed blaster. I have had mixed luck with doublestrike blasters and it bugs me that full-length darts get mushed when I holster it. Of course I love Sweet Revenge blasters but so does everyone else, so I end up feeling it is more worth it to sell them off when I thrift them.

stock cylinder, stock internals, just with beefy spring upgrade getting 85+fps, tried the AF darts got 75fps...the 85fps was with x shot grey , blue tip darts.

I have my index finger go across the side, using my middle for the trigger. Didn't like how much strain it put on my thumb joints doing an all day war with my friends, as I dual wield hammershots with a double strike as a fall back. Still hold it weirdly to prime though.
