All Glory and Praises to ABBA Father for His wonderful and beautiful work of salvation for us that are undeserving. Hallelujah to the King Jesus and Our Heavenly Father. Paul became all things to all men that they may be saved. He did that beautifully without losing his identity as. Jew. As we all know, he was a very learned man. He taught the Gentiles Torah and rest of the Tanach which makes perfect sense! It's what you do when you disciple totally pagan people! From what I read, Yeshua did not abolish the Torah but upheld it. To the glory of Elohim the Father. Very interesting discussion thank you!

I disagree, or actually I'd say Paul would disagree. In one of Paul's epistles he says there is no jew or greek in Christ Jesus and Paul was definitely in Christ. The problem is obvious to me what the problem is that jews have a problem with Paul and that's pride. Paul was personally sent by Jesus and Jesus says if people don't receive those he sends then they don't receive him nor the Father. I'm so tired of people thinking just because they've studied for years they think they know something. 1st corinthians 8:2 and if any man think that he knows anything he knows nothing yet as he ought to know."

@@clarekuehn4372 I believe we need to be precise with the whole counsel of God, and after reading the original comment here I noticed that they wrote that Jesus did not abolish the law but upheld it, but that's not what Jesus says, he says he fulfilled it and that's a big difference, and one of the things I get from Jesus saying not one jot or title shall pass is that we are to take the scriptures seriously and use precision and remain teachable and correctable so as to get at the truth and heart of a matter.

Neither are right or wrong. R. Shulam is absolutely correct in that neither Paul Nor believing Jews, not even the Gentile believers called themselves Christian's. Those were the Greeks that called this group Christians. From what I read and continue to study, it is clear to me that the Gentiles were grafted into the Olive Tree. The more I study, it becomes clear to me that a new religion called Christianity was not the intent of Yeshua.

I think this could be true, that it is meant to be an enlargement of Judaism to the world. It is really significant that so many Jews are now believing Yeshua was the Messiah and many Christians like me are now becoming really awake to the origins of their faith, it seems to me like something important is happening. I think the true faith is being revealed to everyone and we will finally come together!

if Apostles or Paul did not like to call themselves as Christians, then they would have protested not to call them as Christians. Even before Agrippa he would have objected, rather he wished him to follow Christ. This is not a head breaking issue . The issue is Constantine's take over of the Church authority and made a paradigm of making it as religion and bringing corruption.

In 1:03 on in reference to the Letter of the book of Acts, it shows clearly in the following verse (21) that the law of Moshe (The whole Torah) is to be implemented as it is learned every Shabat. This is one of the main problems with Christianity that always stops or refers to a text out context or without continuity to the point thereby, excluding certain convenient words to advance a doctrine without the Torah.
The Torah is the way of life, the Torah is Yahshuah, the word that became flesh, (Jn 1:14)
that came not to avoid the Torah but to complete it and fulfill it (Mat 5:17-19)
    Rom 2:13, 1Jn 2:3-6,
    Mat 7:21-27, Rom 3:31
There are many more examples but these are the obvious ones.

The Catholic Church changed the holy sabbath for the worship of the Sun Day. Go back to history and see the truth, that Peter never violated the law of God. Thanks for this amazing message.

    PAUL humilliated Peter, not following JESUS' process to speak first with Peter apart, then with witnesses & only then in public;
But, in Paul's letter, written to GALATIANS 1, Paul confesses his low steem about the 12 Apostles and he saw no need to receive JESUS' teachings directly from the 12 Apostles, only trusting in his revelations & interpretation of scriptures.
This gap was the beginning of different Denominations & a split between JESUS's teachings & Paul's pharisee doctrines.
While JESUS' teachings & paraboles are supposed to be the ROOT of His Approved Disciples:

I have to disagree with Dr. Shulam on many things, but one is why should Christians be considered Pharisees? Didn't the Essenes believe the supernatural, believe in miracles, believe in angels, believe in the resurrection? One hundred years before Jesus, weren't the Essenes teaching that the Messiah would come when He did, that He would be cut off, that He would be resurrected, and that He would bring an age of grace? Didn't they call the Pharisees the children of darkness? Did Jesus ever say anything positive about the Pharisees? I think a born again Christian has more in common with the Essenes than we do the Pharisees. Honestly, I'm more impressed with Mark Lanier than I am Shulam.

I like that this discussion starts out acknowledging that Paul was a Pharisee who never converted to Christianity.
It is not that Paul's words are hard to understand if we actually come to grips with what he saw as his ministry. Paul actually saw his mission in the latter part of his life as keeping the Gentiles from converting to Judaism by telling them that they could follow Yeshua without becoming Torah observant. Paul's message to the Gentiles was that they could be "saved by grace through faith alone that Jesus died for their sins."
This directly contradicts the corroborated eyewitness testimony of Yeshua's brother James, and his two hand-picked disciples Matthew the tax collector and Peter through the hand of Mark. Both of whom documented that what Yeshua taught was that to not be offensive to God a person must not only become Torah observant as the Torah is now written. Each person is personally responsible for searching the prophets to determine where the scribes have changed the Torah and living by what they believe the original instructions given by God through Moshe at Mount Sinai were.
That there is one further step each person must take to actually receive eternal life. They must forgive each and every person God sends to teach them a hard lesson or test our love for Him. Yeshua could not be more clear that the God he serves will forgive you exactly as you have forgiven the people who have offended you the most.
    Shalom

Acts 15:5 begins with the question you pose. Acts15:7-11 gives Peter's response, 15:13-21 gives James response. 15:22-29 shows the whole congregation's response. Apparently your assessment Paul's teaching is directly contradicted by James, Peter and other disciples is not the record according to Acts 15 where the question is addressed by the congregation in Jerusalem. .

    • @tombutler7296

@@fleetwd1 you do understand that acts of the apostles was written by Luke who tells you he never met Yeshua or any of his disciples. Luke is simply repeating rumors which we are told through the Torah and through, the Torah that is written upon our heart, we are not supposed to accept as the truth. Neither Peter nor James is speaking in acts of the apostles! You are simply repeating rumors when you say that they were!
Acts of the Apostles is written for the sole purpose of promoting Paul who was attempting to, and did his job very well, keep Gentiles from converting to Judaism. It seems that as one of Paul's many followers he has successfully dissuaded you from following Yeshua too.
I do really appreciate your channel even if I think all of your guests speak incredibly poorly about the God they claim to follow!

Galatians 2:15-16, 18-19 Paul writes: " We who are Jews by nature and not sinners of the Gentiles, knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ even we have believed in Christ Jesus that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified." "For if I build again those things which I have destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God." Gal 3:2-3&5'6 "Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh? Therefore He who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you, does He do it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Just as Abraham believed God and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Therefore know that only those who are of faith are sons of Abraham."

    • @fleetwd1
      @fleetwd1  2 роки тому

Paul also Writes The Law is Holy yet I am carnal. The Law as a method of obtaining righteousness is what Paul writes against in your texts. However the Law as a standard of judging sin, of instructing us, or of defining doctrine, Paul never opposes. The Law, The Oracles of God, Hebrew Scriptures are God's method of instructing and are not opposed to Spirit for they are Spirit breathed and are Holy, while we are carnal. the problem is not with the Law, or Scripture, it is with us. No one of us can obtain righteousness by following the Law, or Scripture. But the righteousness of God, the righteousness of Christ, which is ours by faith is a gift which the Law and the Prophets attest to and it reveals God's righteousness. His covenantal faithfulness to all who believe. Remember the difference between using it as a method and keeping it as a standard to guide us by. That is important when reading all that Paul and Scripture say about the Law. the negative is using it as a method. the positive is that it always remains as a standard to instruct us by.

Are these gentlemen understand that there were two sets of law that were given to Moses. One which was written by the finger of God, the other was a bunch of ceremonial laws, a shadow that meet its substance in Christ. The lamb that was slain from the foundation of the world. And when Christ died at the cross the heavy veil that separates the holy from the most holy place ripped off from top to bottom, exposing the sacredness of the hloy of holies, signiying that rituals has to cease because its all pointed to Christ. But the moral laws, the ten commandments remain till heaven and earth pass away. I guess Paul knew it.

The issue was a salvation issue…the context was clear…the immediate things was the 4 basics to be saved, but then it says what ? Verse 16-18, then verse 21…it’s pretty clear, start with these 4 then learn the rest as you go, there’s no way anyone including them could know the entire Torah before being saved..

Why?. I see nobody who's around my age or younger. I'm not sure if there is even one person that is less than twice my age in the paused frame that I'm looking at. Are we failing the youth by not preaching the gospel and truth in the world? Are we failing them by keeping God behind the doors of a church?. I know it's God who saves, but where are we falling short as servants?

What are they saying that Paul was not a christian. Yes Paul was a Jew, so was Jesus, Jesus came as the Messiah that was promised to the Jews. The name christian was given to the followers of Christ. With Moses God lived in the temple in the Holy of Holies, with Jesus the death and Resurrection and the receiving of the Holy Spirit God now lives inside of us. This is what Paul is expressing throughout all his letters Christ in US the hope of glory. We are now the temple and Jesus Christ (God) now lives inside of us therefore we are called Christians because Christ is in US, but we are truly Israelites. Chosen by God, and called sons of God.

The stumbling stone that appears to be the most problematic, from what I have gathered in my studying, and I am by no means a scholar, is that Jews, for the most part, view Yeshua, Jesus, as being , " another God" thus violating the number one commandment not have have, "other gods" nor idol worship.
As a person who Believes Jesus IS God, not a separate diety; that He is God in the flesh; I find that they will not accept this.
The fact that traditional Judaism rejected Jesus is clearly explained in Psalm 118:22-23.
How might someone explain the term,
" son of God" as explaining who Jesus is,
as the term sounds as if Yeshua is a derivative of God, separate from Him?
We tend to think in human terms, as though a son, like our sons, are separate beings.
How might I explain that better?
Also, is circumcision and wearing of phallictories needed by gentile believers? How about the yomaca ?
I also have questions about those who are treating the term " Christian as a dirty word, as well as the name, Jesus, even though it appears Paul used it.
I have been told that some people are told if they pray in the name of
Jesus , that are praying to the devil, to Zeus.
Also, there are many cultures that have restaurants, so this idol issue is very applicable to us today.
    Many confusing things.
May the Holy Raucb give us Wisdom from above to please Him in all things.
Thank- you for this important discussion.

The revelation of the mystery was committed to Paul. In his writings alone we find the doctrine, position, walk and destiny of the church.
    Paul’s mysteries revealed
    1. Romans 11:11-25: Israel is fallen, blind, and has no standing.
    2. 1 Corinthians 12:13, 2 Corinthians 5:17: a new creature, neither Jew nor Gentile has been created.
    3. Colossians 1:25-28, Ephesians 3:1-10: the Body of Christ has standing and is God's agency as ambassadors with the word of reconciliation.
    4. Ephesians 1:9-10, Colossians 1:16: God's purpose for all creation is revealed.
    5. Romans 3:24-25, 6:14, Ephesians 2:8-9: Christ paid for all sin with His death, burial and resurrection without the works of the law.
    6. 1 Corinthians 15:51-56,1 Thessalonians 4:13-18: the Body of Christ will reside in heavenly places and will not reign with Christ and Israel on the Earth.

in reference to George Goldman's comment about Acts 15:10, i.e. the question of circumcision and "placing a yoke upon the neck of the disciples that neither our fathers or we have been able to bear".
I believe Peter does not mean the Torah or the Law upon the necks of the fathers, Israel, but the discrimination and vilification by the uncircumcised. The fact that circumcision separated Jews from Gentile pollution and corruption made them a target of vilification from the pagan world. The Torah is holy and just and good. As a result of the yoke of the Torah, Israel became a target of disparagement and abuse, a very difficult yoke to bear.

if they did not here, Joseph has dealt with it in other places. The context reveals it was a vision given to Peter to prepare him for the visit from the Gentiles coming. it had nothing to do with food laws. He says this in several places that the vision had to do with men God was calling unclean and the Holy Spirit outpouring on these Gentiles confirmed the meaning of the vision according to Peters recounting the story in several places after the event.

good point but a rebuttal would be Abraham did not have the instruction given to Moses. But his Covenant was not nullified when the Sinai Covenant was later given. God promised in Genesis 15 he would accomplish everything to bring about the promises. At Sinai Israel promised to keep the Covenant but quickly violated it.
Abraham's Covenant was based upon better promises. It was a type for the New Covenant where God through the Messiah kept his promise to Abraham and Israel's promise to God fulfilling Israel's obligation. .

you are reading false charges against Paul in Acts 21:21 you need to be careful when you give weight to Scripture. you must beware of the context and intent. Luke defends against these false accusations and records in many other places that Paul was observant. Paul shows how Torah teaches Abraham was to be Father to all nations and was given the covenant of promise formalized in Genesis 15 some 30 years before he and his household were circumcised. The Apostles agreed not to burden the Gentiles with circumcision (See verse 25) they also asked Paul to take part in a Nazarite vow to prove these claims against him were false and he did. (see Verses 23-24).

Wow, Joseph Shulam read a different bible than I did! The Pharisees believed, and still do, that the oral law supersedes the Torah. Karaite Judaism, the type of Judaism Yeshua followed and taught was that we all have a personal responsibility for determining what was the original Torah by examining the prophets who tell us how the scribes have changed the Torah. I cannot believe that this man would try to convince anyone that Yeshua was a Pharisee. It is certainly not supported by any of the eyewitness testimony to Yeshua's teachings or ministry.

@@beslanintruder2077 Me thinks you have no idea what it means to be a Karaite and that you are attributing the teaching of the Pharisee Paul to the teaching of Yeshua. Contrary to what you have been taught in church, almost all of the writings we have in the NT that are not from John were collected by Luke as he tracked Paul down for the murder of Stephen who according to the Jews that came to the trial from Jerusalem to witness was actually Jesus. The copies we use of Matthew and Mark show obvious changes made by Paul in them.
According to James, who likely went by the title Yeshua, it was time for the lost sheep of the house of Israel to come home by becoming Torah observant. Paul throughout his teachings, like all Pharisees, wants all Gentiles, Israelites or not, to only obey the Noahide laws, not become full-fledged Jews.
What Gentiles fail to recognize about Rabbinic Judaism is that Gentiles view Judaism as a religion where conversion is possible. Where Jews consider their religion as what makes them a distinct nationality with a desire to stay separate even if it offends God.

@@beslanintruder2077 My understanding of the term Karaite is that the scribes have changed the written Torah and that when we stand before God we are each personally responsible for knowing what those changes are. If we look to other people for understanding like rabbis or priests we will be deceived.
In my opinion, what Yeshua taught us is that the prophets alone speak for God. When many prophets tell something is in conflict with the teachings in the Torah the scribes have changed that. Do you know of the Documentary Hypothesis?
Since there is no leadership of a church or set doctrine in the Karaite Way followers believe what they can defend attempting to end all cognitive dissonance about God. I think universally Karaites believe in what you might call a day of judgment, but I do not think my idea of a day of Judgment is even close to any Christians or even many Jews.
As for the Resurrection, I personally believe it is only for a few.
I do not think God is omnipotent as I was always told. Instead, I believe he created this world as a source for souls that truly desire to serve him over their own passions and pleasures. I see judgment day as a bunch of one-way doors where a person must make a choice.
The first one may be how many gods are there? Options 0, 1, many, 3 in 1. There is only one.
Is there anyone at all that you believe does not belong in God's Kingdom? The answer is no.
Last question What do you want for lunch? Will it be Kosher, Vegetarian, or do you like pork or shellfish? Those that answered either of the first two questions wrong or ate of God's pets will go to sleep forever and those that pass the test will be added to his servants.
